  1. The post is bit confusing. Do you not know how to upload the music file to your hosting or you want to provide music (in mp3 format or otherwise) on your website without downloading message? If you're trying to add music but the method you're using now isn't playing the music but makes you download, try this page for further help http://www.pageresource.com/html/embed.htm I was so sure we had a topic for embedded music tutorial, but I guess it wasn't this forum that I saw.
  2. There isn't a code for this because normally the code starts with "10-..." i.e. 10-40 or 10-14. There are 315. For more: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Someone told me it was the National Smokeout Day. This was the day to "promote" quitting cigarette smoking. However, when marijuana users heard this they thought the day was to consume marijuana--stoned brain isn't pretty lol. How true this is anyone's guess. However, April 20th also marks one of the saddest days in North American's rememberance. Columbine High School shooting was on this day.
  3. As always I truly appreciate ALL Xisto member's help! I am bit worried about using database conjuction with the banner display, however, if that's the only way to get the equal time shown I suppose it will do.I have found a JAVA code that will change banners at X amount of seconds interval. And since the script will be hosted by this forum server, I'm hoping this will not cost anyone's bandwidth or space. What do you think about this "slide show" idea instead of only changing when refreshed or loaded? In regards to banner submit: if you do not have a banner that's what Sig or Banner Request section is for SM and I foresaw this and knew it someday it will become very handy. The banner submittion will be given to me via forum PM. And I will be uploading it manually (to check) and double check for members participation in exchange program.More to come... but please keep ideas flowing.PS. Avalon, I truly thank you for your generosityAfter thought: my current direction of link would be something in regards to <img src="Xisto.com/banners/exchange/category"> where "category" will group like banners together. However, my concern is that if we categorize banners into too many groups, the rotating banner will be small in number. By creating Xisto Exchange program I hope to help ALL Xisto hosted member who are participating this exchange program. So, how can we optimize groups? For example, can Avalon's banner exchange fall under "graphics" category? If so all graphics related sites will be grouped as one. Another category will be "all" where it shows every banner submitted for the exchange program.Put on your thinking caps let the brain power over flow...
  4. If a person felt the highly charged emotion is better described with expletive words, I feel that person should seek to establish new vocabularies. This is a forum where we discuss many different topics. However, it is your free will to be a part of Xisto forum member. I do regret you are not satisfied with the current board filtering method. And as always, Xisto will not impose any unobtainable goals using forum rules. However, we do ask that while you are part of Xisto community we respectfully ask everyone to follow set rules accomplished by the board owner. It is not about who is right and who is wrong. Xisto's forum is foremost to draw traffics to the forum by SEO (search engine optimization). When search engines cache currently filtered words through out the forum, the ranking of Xisto will fall. And that will mean less traffic and leads into Xisto. Which at this point, Xisto can no longer provide free web hostings.Forum is open to everyone and every debate. The free web hosting is the byproduct of your participation.
  5. Whoever has the control over the editing of the nameservice will have the final control over the domain name. Even you own the domain name, it will take about 24-72 hours for the domain name to be propagated through out the internet to synchronize with the new nameserver (which has been covered numerous times in the forum).Whatever you do, when you have to edit the nameserver to Xisto.com you will experience some down time while the propagation time frame. If you know that the domain name is pointing to Xisto.com, all you need to do is either change your hosting account domain to the domain name you're inheriting OR addon domain to your hosting account.
  6. All submitted banners will be reviewed by Xisto moderators. And I guess we can modify the rotation code to select from categories. But that will be the next phase.First, I would like to know if this "promotion" will be well used by Xisto hosting members BEFORE I pitch this to OpaQue. This topic is my focus group survey
  7. Only 6 votes? I thought this topic would draw more than that. LevinZ, I have no idea what you were stating. Could you explain it further in detail? If you were suggesting that Xisto banner should be part of rotating banners then please refer to my first post
  8. PmH,This reply is way over due. But I'm glad to see you contributing to our forum as well as you have. Keep up the good work and contribute with all your heart's desire

    Hey

Hi BEagle,I'm glad Xisto can serve some sort of intellectual stimulant. Xisto tries hard to bring you the best web forum community. And the byproduct of your participation is that you get to have free web hosting. As you can see, we're not just fixated to one topic. If you can help Xisto forum to expand on collection of vast knowledge, you are free to move about and spread your wealth! <_<Welcome to the best free web hosting forum.
  10. Deneb,Welcome to Xisto. I am so glad that this forum brings you some level of excitement. I can see that your suggestions and posts will greatly add to our Xisto's already well-rounded group of people. Please feel free to post whatever you would like. Watch the forum section and its description. We never had a post that dealt with cooking recipes. You could create a standard of format that can introduce new recipe--something in reference to: Receipe title, List of ingredients, Detailed cooking direction, Submitter's side note (optional) and finally a picture (possibily your own rather than a stock photo)?I've been to Brazil only once. I stayed with a friend of mine in Brasilia. It was one of the most amazing cities I've visited. I couldn't believe the organization of the downtown (how all roads lead to this huge landmark which I forgot what it was called. I was young when I visited and didn't stay for long).
  11. LOL how cute! It's like looking at a smart-car or those Japanese city cars (they are very small and compact).Without the background (or making it transparent) your could have submitted this as a Render Resource in the graphics section.
  12. If everyone felt that way and decided to "police" themselves, the board doesn't need to have world filters. However, this is a public forum. This forum will draw so many diverse users and some users will try to "beat" the system or rebel against forum rules. Bad word filters are this forum's first line of defense. The second is having a report button. Why all the censoring? This forum is used and accessed by minors (from the age 10 thru 68 the last time I checked) and the forum HAS the responsibility to accommodate for ALL members--not just a few or hosting members. It was the forum's owner's decision to make this forum respectful and thus some censorship will follow. Then how come with The Vent section and the unusual forum title? The Vent section is bit special. Although Xisto highly puts language watch, the board owner felt at least ONE section should be freely used to express your frustration. And thus, to the marketing, the name TIS was created (notice you don't have to type the whole thing. TIS will do just fine). TIS is designed to have Xisto grow into another level of Xisto service and in the future all will be worked out. Please be patient until OpaQue has some free time to continue to build this forum. He's been pulled away from Xisto to hosting maintenance because some paid members are driving him out of his mind. Additional note due to a report: The hosted members have started a topic here http://forums.xisto.com/topic/34931-trapped-in-bleep-tis-wwwtrappedinshitcom-new-is-this-for-real/ and much have been discussed. Hosted section cannot be replied by general members so I'll let this topic stay. By no means or implies that both this topic and the topic linked approves the usage of the bad word or words. Again, please be patient until everything is worked out by the forum owner.
  13. Sonic render is bit too dark on my screen. This is completely different from your anime signature. This one is very dark in mood.I can see the darker render on the left but the right corner render is very dark (unless you were going for that look). My rating: 7
  14. I'm not particularly like those animation characters but I like the way you set your render apart from the background color. I think your font needs little more of "stand out" look. Nice touch on floating bubbles. Maybe make it like floating ball of lights instead of just bubbles? Very good background and brush technique. My rating: 8
  15. Very nicely done.I like how you made the simple contrast between the black and orange. It feels very Asian art, possibily old Japanese style. You took the time to have the reflection of leaves on the water--very nice touch. I noticed that some leaves were still green... have you decided not to turn all silhouette? If so, instead of green I'm thinking in amber colors. That would make the three much more 3D.
  16. itssami,Your posting status shows you should be fully aware of how Xisto hosting works by now. Please search the forum before making a redundant topic. This topic is answered and closed.
  17. I initially thought the banner should be placed in your own page. So the banner will show up in your site...But now I'm wondering wouldn't it be nice to have member's banner to show in forum as well...? It's still at work but for now, the ad banner will be placed in your webpage and not in the forum.
  18. Absolutely! In fact you'll be doing some favors for other hosting members. On the side note... does banner exchange program really help out others? How effective is it that so many people ask for exchanges? I hope more people would participate in this discussion.
  19. Just to be clear, the submitted "exchange banners" will NOT be shown in the forum. The submitted banners will have a link code, i.e. Xisto/banners/exchange/size and this link will be placed in those who submitted banners' own website. And I'm thinking the banner will automatically rotate in like 7 second intervals.
  20. Could I be jinxing Buffalo's luck by making this post? But then again, I never carried a rabbit foot, four leaf clover or kissed a wishing rock hanging up-side-down before. But I have to tell you, I feel very good things for Sabres this year! Or maybe I feel good because the whole town is filled with uplifting spirit--a hope that Sabres might actually win this year. My town's been filled with disappointments past few years. Buffalo Bills failing to pull it through after so many attendance at the Super Bowl really did not help anything to place faith on Buffalo's anything. But when Sabres won the 1st round against Philadelphia I mean I think the whole town was in a state of shock! Sabres' rocky start of the season didn't really boost anyone's confidence. But now it's like anywhere I walk in, Sabres this and Sabres that... if I "flare" my words right, I can get the whole bar going and get the bartender to ring "drinks are on the house" bell :lol:Although I do not follow many sports I'll be watching Sabres this time. This Friday will be the 1st game with Ottawa Senators. I have been doing some last minute search and cramming on Senators and boy, they have been crushing Sabres all the time! But according to the stats, it was during the normal season. Oh I hope that during playoffs it's different. Either that, Sabres might show up at the ice with tails between the legs... and that won't be good.
  21. Thank you, elevenmil.Do you think some signatures are slowing down loading of our forum? Because once the 1st signature is loaded, the rest of the same signature is just an echo of the first load unless the next page is viewed. This means, once a signature "picture" is loaded, the same picture does not take additional time to be loaded since it resides in your cache. And the new board version features to turn "off" a signature as per reply. But I'll run this by OpaQue and see what he says. Thanks again, 11
  22. I have received many questions regarding banner exchange or affiliate submit request. However, I was never able to fulfill them until now. I would like to propose this: I'll make a random script that shows everyone's submitted banner, one at a time, when a HTML code is placed on your website. The eligibility is that you have to be hosted by Xisto.com (notice the dot com and not dot NET). You have to submit 3 different sizes so that when others would like to use this service, they can choose among 3 common sizes. The random banner appearance is determined by the "timing" (I'll be using the random sig generator code). Would this help most of you? I would like to know if this will benefit most and not just "some" Please state what can be improved or modified. All suggestions are welcome. PS the only thing I will not incorporate is, 'if my site earns more traffic, can my banner show more frequent than others?' I'm trying to create a free, no fee service. Therefore, everyone is equal and equal showing. However the random script may not be so kind and may show one banner more than the other. The difference between this "partnership" and others is that this will be hosted by Xisto.com/banner and not by gracious individual hosting member. Rough draft of rules: 1. Xisto's banner will be added among the list 2. Periodically your site will be checked to see if you carry the exchange script 3. You can submit up to 2 sets of banners (each set is consisted of small, mid and large banner sizes) 4. The banner, when clicked, will lead to advertised (affiliated) site 5. Small means 88x31, mid means 468x60 and large means 728x90 6. You must host these banners at your Xisto account! (no imageshack or photobucket) - this will prevent showing inactive site's banner and can be used to pin-point which account has been deactivated *could be changed 7. Flexible (with member's vote) on including other non-hosted Xisto accounts 8. In English only...? Or, is this just too much and http://home.free-banners.com/ is more than enough?

  24. With the Invision Board 2.1.x, RSS feed is standard and included with the forum installation. You can go and access ACP and set the frequency and forum section for this RSS generator and use RSS converter to show latest 5 topics. GFXTrap.com is currently using FeedDigest.com as RSS translator. I find this service to be easy and quick to initiate.I also find RSS2HTML (search the web) program to be very effective. However it does use your bandwidth.
