public_html folder is where all your webpages should be located. If you have deleted anything under public_html it will hinder you from executing program or script files, such as perl related cgi scripts, not to mention some security features for your webpage. The rest of _vti*** are used for publishing your website, webpages using FrontPage or other remote publishing software.If you are unsure please do not delete. Otherwise you have to terminate your hosting account and request another one. There's no reset feature once you've deleted critical files/folders.

You can make it so that your server/service "listens" to the port 6667. Using port forwarding (either via software or hardware, i.e. router) you can then forward any incoming from port 6667 to your designated inbound port, i.e. 80--or even to another IP address.Just a side note...I travel frequently and sometimes I have bit of downtime during my travel in major airports. I noticed that some airports that require personal paid accounts to use wi-fi access within the airport, it will forward to private IP address that always asks for me to enter my account information. No matter which wireless access I connect to, it will automatically forward to one IP address that asks me to enter my account information. So I know port forwarding works.I'm also assuming that a simple line add in your config file for server running can manage this too. But since I am unsure hopefully one of our brilliant members would reply to this topic.

public_html folder is the original UNIX command that was established when first public HTML pages were available. However, it wasn't intuitive enough for regular members or caused bit of confusion for average hosting members. So in recent hosting providers have incorporated WWW folder (which is just another short cut to public_html folder) to make your hosting experience smoother.

It will be ***.vanillaskye.org. Once you change from Xisto subdomain to a domain name, your sub-domain is no longer valid in URL address--it is completely deleted from Xisto's database.

If you parked a domain but you still have sub-domain as your hosting account association, your sub-domain will still work. However, until your domain nameserver is propagated through out the world net servers it will take 24-72 hours before the domain name you parked is shown correctly using your hosting account.

BooZker,First you must have the total control over the domain you wish to park. Which means you must change the domain nameserver to Xisto.com. Please refer to Xisto Readme for full nameservers of Xisto.If you cannot change nameservers of the domain you wish to associate with your hosting, you cannot park that domain to your hosting. If it was allowed to, I can park Yahoo! to my hosting and I can control Yahoo!'s page, don't you think? This was just an example.Once you access the domain you wish to park with your hosting account, you can THEN park that domain to your hosting account. Until then you cannot use that domain with your hosting.

To turn off the messenger service, Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and look for "Messenger" Right click and select Properties. Under General tab select "disable" on Startup Type. This will disable your intranet messenger service. It is also good idea to change your Network Group name to something else than the default "Workgroup" or "MsHome" This is the most common reason why you're getting internal messages.

If you are changing to paid hosting, I hope Xisto - Web Hosting was a part of your choices. You are already familiar with cPanel controls and what to expect from a Free Web Server, so adjusting to Xisto - Web Hosting would be a cinch!Either way, good luck and do drop in every now and then

Please do not spread incorrect information especially regarding Xisto hosting situation.You will only lose 15 credits WHEN you use the process page to CHANGE your hosting account associated domain/sub-domain name. When you park a domain, the domain URL will not show any other URL address but your parked domain to your hosting account. However, if your html coding is linked as A HREF="; then it will show. So correct your script/coding.

I have made changes to your account so that it shows 9 instead of 0. See if that works.And you do not need to sign-off with your name in your post. We all can see who made the post. I find jibnet's suggestion to be well meant. I also agree that certain templates should be free. However, I also fear that intellectual copyright would not be respected and an unique design should be copyrighted and be well compensated.The suggestion of creating and donating free templates have already begun at http://www.oswd.org/. However, there's no stopping in Xisto members posting web templates under Internet > Web designing... And it would be nice without any request, that members start creating and uploading/posting for web template download.
