Issues Pointing Domain To The Right Nameservers... [resolved]
BuffaloHelp replied to tdktank59's topic in Web Hosting Support
This is called URL cloaking or masking. Although it can be done, any one can disable it (if they found out). And there's a way to do with with .htaccess, however the rest of your add-on domains would be all "lost."The best way to do is make your home page as a sub-domain, i.e. home.clashofages.com and redirect from clashofages.com ==> home.clashofages.com. This will create a folder called "home."You may use any methods to redirect: cpanel redirect, index page redirect (in meta tag or php header) or add your own .htaccess redirect command. They are available in any search or look through our Hosted Members Area for related topics.Thank you. -
Computinghost For Wap Hosting wap/web
BuffaloHelp replied to generalx's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hi, Perhaps I can answer few of your questions until OpaQue can officially make your WAP site approval. Although Xisto - Web Hosting allows diverse website themes, as long as within Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP), your index page must be HTML and browser friendly. This means it cannot be established just for Opera (which reads WAP without a problem). Instead, if you have your own domain elect to create a subdomain, i.e. wap.your-site.ext, and create a full WAP page--leaving your public_html with a normal HTML page. A demo to Xisto - Web Hosting cPanel is very similar to Xisto's demo, with Xisto - Web Hosting providing SSH Telnet connection. Please view Xisto cPanel demo at Xisto cPanel Demo. I have not had the chance to update but the current version of cPanel for both are 11. Xisto - Web Hosting plans provide different script supports. Plan 3S is a Unix based hosting and therefore support PHP and CGI. ASP is Windows based hosting and you must choose different plan to have ASP access. Windows based hosting supports CGI, unless OpaQue corrects me on this one. I hope this helps you a bit until OpaQue has the chance to reply -
Please do not hijack this thread. The topic in discussion is about how to "redirect" and not who said what and who did what. ---Just to recap so that I have the situation straight...1 - A forum is established in domain 1. But you want your domain (let's say domain 2) to call domain 1's post topics? Which basically means domain1.?topic=1 to be congruent with doamin2.?topic=1? So you want to redirect from your domain 2 to "show" the topic. But, you want the address box to show domain2.?topic=1 rather than the actual URL which is domain1.?topic=1 ? Do I understand this correctly? The simple answer is: NO, Absolutely not! This is a form of URL hijack or scam. Many in the past tried to gather your PayPal and eBay account information by using java script to mask the actual URL. Although it can be done, it will not be discussed here. Search for masking url or cloaking url.2 - A forum was established in domain 1. And you want to download the database and set it up in domain 2. But when you uploaded the database it still points to domain 1, even though it's installed in domain 2.jcink utilized Invision Power Board v1.3 and modified with their own codes. Although this may be legal within their own site, Xisto and Xisto cPanel no longer provides Invision Power Board v1.3 for free. This topic has been discussed in previous Hosted Members Area posts. Invision decided no longer to provide any previous versions due to huge security holes. Therefore, our new cPanel and Fantastico did not come with Invision Power Board v1.3 when it was upgraded. To change the URL of your post database, you would need to access conf_global.php and find 'board_url' to change the full path. Then access your Invision Power Board Administrator Panel and go to General Configuration. Since it's been a long time I've faced with v1.3 I cannot tell you where to find it. Basically, you'll need to change UPLOAD URL and PATH TO UPLOAD DIRECTORY with your domain name.

Issues Pointing Domain To The Right Nameservers... [resolved]
BuffaloHelp replied to tdktank59's topic in Web Hosting Support
As of this post, I can see your correct domain pointing towards Xisto - Web Hosting service. However, your parent directory (public_html) is wide open. Please secure with at least an index page. Some servers require longer than others to "update" the new changes. This is neither Xisto - Web Hosting nor other service matters. It's just how long each node is designated to refresh for newer information.Topic seems to be resolved since I can see that your domain name is working. I will leave this open for few more days for topic starter's reply. -
Which forum script is this pertaining to?Most forum scripts will allow you to "point" to another domain by simply editing the configuration file and/or admin control panel.Depending on which forum script you wish to edit, the answer would differ. Please let us know which forum script you wish to change your directory/domain.

Think I've Perfected It Please Review! DailyRant
BuffaloHelp replied to Jimmy's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It was moved to SPAM because you had no contributing post except for your URL. This is just advertising your website for link traffic. It's against our forum rules. Although this time it's an improvement but in the future, if you want to have people review your site, try naming your topic title differently--say I would like your opinion on my web site--and try to be descriptive in your post. -
Problem With Uploading My Website my be conection error, or ftp
BuffaloHelp replied to dreem's topic in Web Hosting Support
Try to be clear and descriptive when posting your question. How are you accessing your cpanel, is it by yourdomain-name.ext/cpanel or something else?If you have an access to your domain control, can you see where it says something like "DNS control" or "NAMESERVER"? If not, where did you purchase your domain (state the company name of a registrar)? When you activate your hosting account, the hosting configures according to your input field values--this means even if you misspell your domain name (which happens to Xisto members about 40% of the times) the cPanel will enter as you registered in activation fields. For example, I can activate new hosting account with Google.com and my cPanel will show as "Domain name: google.com" but that doesn't mean google.com is pointing to my hosting account. To cover every aspect, if you were under the impression that Xisto provided your own free domain as well as free web hosting, this isn't entirely true. You must first become a hosting member then use your hosting credits to purchase free domain name.UPDATEAs suspected, WHOIS record shows no such registered domain name. -
One topic per discussion. Do not alter or hijack the thread. To answer your question, JAVA is client side based script. This means, your browser or your computer must support JAVA scripts. Check your browser setting to see if it's enabled or have the latest version installed. If you are asking server side javascript, the answer is no.

Disc Space, Bandwidth, Question
BuffaloHelp replied to sheepdog's topic in Websites and Web Designing
When you FTP files (pictures etc) to your site, you are using your monthly allowed bandwidth limit. If a picture is 100kb, you have just used 100kb. And you visit your site to see if the picture shows up, you again used 100kb to see that picture. The best way to free yourself with such small limit is to apply for hosting upgrade. I say this because I assume you have Hosting Plan 1? -

I am still confused by your domain. According to DNS report, http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsreport.chcapitalheat.biz/ your domain name does not exist. So to verify, have you entered your domain control and set your nameservers to ns1.trap17.com and ns2.trap17.com? If so, DNS report still shows your domain name as non-existence. Are you able to access our cpanel (your hosting account)? If so, how are you able to access them (as in what URL do you type to access)? Please let me know and I can look into it further. -
Yes it still amazes me how human brain functions. We have had the same topic made many months ago. The study was done, I believe, in Berkley University, CA (correct me if I'm wrong).

LOLSorry, I didn't mean to laugh but did you open a notepad to create this file? Try again because I can see the "code" which means it wasn't saved as a right type.Open NotepadEnter PHP code I gaveSave As, then select Save As Type to All FilesThen type index.phpThis is the only way of creating .php without any special software.Let me know if you are still having the problem I'll send you mine. I've tested out and it's working just fine.

I believe you cannot redirect home page to another subfolder due to some permission (which I have no idea since cPanel is still new to me). The quick fix is to write your own redirect script. PHP index.php in public_html The above code will redirect to any location you choose in domain or domain/folder, in your case just Joomla will do. HTML index.htm(l) in public_html <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="5; URL=Joomla/"> You can insert a message like "You're being redirected to this page..." while the number 5 (measurements in seconds) dictates how long before it redirects. Obviously you can set to zero without any message. To show a message or a splash screen, build a regular HTML page with BODY and etc tag. Another option is to use .htaccess (which your cpanel's redirect modifies) but it's bit tricky. And that's why I propose above two options.

The strangest things make the headlines these days... The local news reports a case of pit-bull sexually assaulting a boy. The full article is found at least here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I thought the first thing was to question the behavior of the family with the dog. A dog does not "attack" in that mannerism unless the dog was "taught" such condition. Either that, or they really should have neutered the dog. On the funny side note, as soon as search:Bob Barker goes off the air all cats and dogs are free to do the wild jungle parties. Mr. Barker was one of the famous advocators in pet population control.

Sorry for the delay in reply. If your shell does not allow but installed, that does not mean it should work I believe castcontrol, tried to search but wasn't sure, is a form of radio broadcast through internet? I believe this falls under IRC related where you cannot use Xisto hosting server as any forms of proxy service.I believe, again OpaQue correct me if I'm wrong, any streaming by similar scripts require ports 8***. These ports are monitored and sometimes blocked on the server side depending on the activity.

The only suggestion is to purchase hosting credits through PayPal. The link is found at the top pulldown menu Credits > Purchase Credits.Always prepare for an event that's unforeseen. I know you completely forgot about the situation. But please do not solicit for hosting credits. This is not encouraged.Do the best as you can, without bluntly posting through out the forum for the means of gaining hosting credits. If your hosting should suspend you can always post after your trip to regain your hosting access. Our hosting credit system was designed so that when you are in the negatives, few initial posts are designed to reward bit more than at your normal rate.

The free email apps service by Google is just that--it's free because it cannot be customized. The best you can do is to change GMAIL logo to your own logo. That's about it. You can manage email URL such that instead of mail.google.com/your-site it can be mail.your-site.ext but you will need to change CNAME records for this one.Another trick to customizing email URL is build an index page where it redirects from your domain to mail.google, i.e. your-site.ext/mail --redirect script to-- mail.google... but that's another topic (unless you want to start with this).Anything else to modify how it's logged in could be a form of "hack" unless, as you discovered, purchasing a public secure key.

Did you think to wonder if nameserver has not resolved yet...? :DThe first is do you own the domain name? The second is did you change nameserver to ns1 and ns2.trap17.com? Your DNS report shows domain name none existence. The third is you may have to wait up to 72 hours for nameserver change to propagate through out the internet. Until then your domain "name" is not recognized by any server/service. -
Depending on which email account you used, it would probably landed in the junk or bulk folder. Please whitelist any email from Xisto. You can do this by adding Xisto.com to your contact list, marking any junk or bulk folder email as "not spam" and move it to your inbox. Proceed to the process page following the links provided. https://support.xisto.com/ this page will complete your hosting account.

Regarding wikipedia; The little quirkiness with wikipedia is that it does not suggest other words/phrases if it's not among its database entry--meaning it does not suggest a correction if you misspell or mistype.Where as google define would suggest different spelling as a form of "do you mean..." so the likelihood of searching for the relevancy is in higher odds.
