I just have the same error. The other pages that have javascript are basically 100% the same besides the obvious specifics and they work fine uploaded to asta host and locally. This one only seems to work locally. It appears to be a problem with me setting result = "<?xml blah blah", it doesn't like the code in it. Which should be void because it's outside of the php tags and is inside quotes. Iv'e even tried a few different ways of quoting it (single out, double in, double out, single in etc). EDIT: It loads fine without this: // Initial result value to begin with. result = "<?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?>\n<urlset xmlns=https://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84&%2339;; Obviously there should be double quotes for the atributes inside that string, I tried single quoting outside and double quotings inside and others but still get the error.

If you look at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ You can see it produces an error like this: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/chesso/public_html/tools/google_sitemap_generator.php on line 65 This particular section is not PHP code. The php TAG has been ended before my javascript code and reopened after my javascript code........ This page however works perfectly using WAMP5 locally on my pc (may have something to do with it using a newer version of PHP). Here is the javascript code in question: <script language="javascript"> function generate_sitemap() { // Setup our variables. var last_mod = document.getElementById("last_mod").value; var change_freq = document.getElementById("change_freq").value; var priority = document.getElementById("priority").value; var urls = document.getElementById("urls").value; var result = ""; // Split up the urls into an array. var urls_array = urls.split("\n"); // Initial result value to begin with. result = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>\n<urlset xmlns="https://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84/;; // Loop through urls. Maybe add url validation later. for ( var i=0, len=urls_array.length; i<len; ++i ) { result = result + "\n <url>"; result = result + "\n <loc>" + urls_array[i] + "</loc>"; result = result + "\n <lastmod>" + last_mod + "</lastmod"; result = result + "\n <changefreq>" + change_freq + "</changefreq>"; result = result + "\n <priority>" + priority + "</priority>"; result = result + "\n </url>"; } // Now add the final code to the result. result = result + "\n</urlset>"; // Now put the end result in the sitemap box for users to copy. document.getElementById("sitemap").value = result; } </script> Anyone see a problem with this? It's just to generate a basic Google Sitemap, something built out of boredom based on my own sitemap.xml file meh >_>.

Ahhh well every bit counts and as long as you don't get crazy the ads won't really hurt the site at all.One good way of getting somewhere with it is to make one thing available on your website(s) that perhaps a large amount of users may really want. For example a nice flash game, a usefull freeware program, a good structured discussion forum etc.Google sitemaps is also a good idea to use, I found it quite helpful for my website and helps ensure things are going ok for the crawlers and such.

I don't use any of that mambo and template stuff. It's call done from scratch .But I think I know what you mean, I don't really need write permissions of any files except besides from the cpanel file manager, that wouldn't be affected?

Sorry for the double post.It has happened again, and some functions.php file keeps appearing in my main site folder that is 158kb's.The site the iframe linked to this time is (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) which I checked out and is just some photographer site or something.I reset my password for cpanel and removed my mysql account but for some reason I cannot gain access to my cpanel now to re-setup user for the database (it wouldn't let me modify only delete so I had to delete and then try to re-create with new password).Whew what a pain heh.EDIT: Hmmm mysql from cpanel won't even let me create a new user now or database (it seems it completely removed the old one...... luckily I keep this stuff backed up heh heh ).EDIT: Ok I have managed to re-setup the database user with new password, got no idea why it wasn't working before but it's mysteriously started working *shrugs*. I have also went and password protected all my folders so they can't be viewable and will fail unless an index file is present in them heh heh oh and all the password resetting of course. If it happens again than I have no idea how they managed it lol.

Mine wasn't that site but a similar problem that it is via an iframe, but it was many websites, about 8/10. None of them to my knowledge were the one listed in that main post.It hasn't seem to have come back yet and it's the first time it has happened since I have been here, about 5+months.Could it be to do with the google ads on my site or something? It's a bit weird because it was directly injected into the main index file itself.

Who would want it open source anyway? If windows can be fairly exploited as if, imagine what people could do if they had the source.......They could find even more ways to screw with it. Meh >_>.

Professional Logos Are they any good?
Chesso replied to BooZker's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
That's not bad. I really like the look of the second one but it seems far too *high* for me. -
If you are running a poll on asking users if they think Windows should be open source, then I would have to say (and I voted aswell) I don't really care lol.Sure it would be cool if it was open source, although a pain in the butt for Microsoft to deal with, but not having the source hasn't hurt me.It's extensible enough for me not to care.
-
Heh heh Opera may have had it first but people just coming into it wouldn't care less. FireFox and probably Internet Explorer has most if not all of that and more of it's own by now.Maybe 3 years ago people would have cared but when people are switching now those features are there and present today .

Gig4free Cost Me Half A Day Short time experience
Chesso replied to mchelge's topic in General Discussion
I haven't heard of that particular provider but yeah you are right it's not really that easy to find a good solid one. I can't even remember how I found this one lol.I had been with a few previous ones but they didn't last long, some had uptime problems and others just want kaput as fast as they had came up.The Asta Host forums them selves seem to have issues on occasion for me but it's never affected my site and only affected my cpanel access once so it's all good .And I'm sorry to hear about wasting all that time. I recommend WAMP5 or EasyPHP (mostly WAMP5) for building and testing things locally on your machine before uploading them for a real web test. They are just applications that run and handle all the Apache/PHP/mySQL/phpMyAdmin stuff for you instead of having to download, install, configure and run them all seperately. -
I went to check out my site today and low and behold, some spyware try loading itself and some .wmv file tryed to run from the main page....I was like "wtf mate lol", anyway I went into my cpanel file manager and checked out the index files source and someone has managed to add an iframe to the end of the source going to some advertising rubbish or some such.Is there anyway people can do this without my login details? If not can I request a change of password somehow

Abbott And Costello: Buying A Computer Joke
Chesso replied to ginginca's topic in General Discussion
I actually found that pretty funny. I haven't quite read one like that before.Did you think that up yourself? It go's well together and carries on nicely throughout, although the word in office in windows thing got me a little *huh* heh heh. -
yeah even at that price it's still too pricy just to play a few music files.I bought a 128mb one for $30, nice and small for skateboarding or running around just sitting in my pocket and I have had it for about 7/8 months or more now and it's still goin hard.I'm considering getting a new one soon with a bit more storage though but not sure on what to get. I know these newer iPod's are pretty small but I like smaller .

Haha, well after these last 2 math questions and doing my science portfolio and oral report I'm done for the year .The last 2 questions I have are a little big, something along the lines of:"Mr X has a paddock that is big and 80 metres along one side and this other side has a pond and some other things"...."Draw a diagam of the paddock and relevant information""Find the diameter blah blah""If this, than what is this blah blah".For the most part it's drawing the diagram I have a problem with, I'm used to working with a digram pre-drawn not drawing it myself and then working it out lol.And than theres another one that is similar. The rest I managed mostly on my own but man did I have to go back through previous work to remember how to half of it

Awww, I'm used to saying and hearing it.But I use both quite randomly for some reason *shrugs*.Oh well atleast I'm getting better with more important grammar and such, you should have seen how bad I was just a few years ago.Oh and I got the *math* all fixed up now. Just two more annoyingly large questions to go and I can send it off and not have to worry about anymore maths.
-
A Google search of maths seems to say you are wrong :DAhh yes longest side haha woopsy.Oh well atleast I got the right answer but I better fix that up. I'm used to the longest side not being present and completely missed it.

Ok I tried the formula of a2 + b2 = c2, or rather I plused a2 and b2 together and got the square root of the answer which gave me again 3.4 metres. The only way I can get a formula to get the correct answer is my way so I'm still confused lol.Iv'e done quite a bit of pythagoras but I forget these things so quick and I remember there being a fair few slight variations to certain situations where it was handles slightly different from other methods. Here is how I just did it based on a basic tutorial and using google calculator heh heh:x^2 = 3^2 + 1.8^2 = 9 + 3.24 = 12.24x = Square root of 12.24x = 3.49857114So basically 3.4, or rather 3.5 with rounding.Which by the nature of the question is impossible lol.Unless they wrote the question wrong and wanted the area *shrugs*.

Ok I have a question in a maths assignment that I am a little confused about. The question asks me to a draw a diagram of a 3 metre ladder against a brick wall that has a 1.8 metre gap between the bottom of the wall and the bottom of the ladder.Ok fairly simple to do.It then asks me to find the the space between the bottom of the wall and the top of the ladder. So me and my misses take a look at the diagram and go, "oh a right triangle, pythagoras theroum eh".So my misses has a look around and try's to remember how it works and even try's a few online calculators to try and work it out.But always the answer came to 3.4 metres...... well.. uh... Let's say I'm 6 foot tall and lean on a moderate angle into a wall, there is certainly not a 6 ft gap between the wall bottom and my head let alone a larger gap then my height. So I went ahead and conducted my own test just using a rollie paper packet (I also tested with a ruler) as a ladder and using one of those basic tape measures they use for material. This way I would have the gap between the wall bottom and the top of the packet and simply need to find a formula to work out the answer, this way I could do the same for my math problem.I measured the height of yhe rolly paper packet which was an approx 7cm, I then placed it on an angle like a ladder against the wall and measures the gap which was an approx 4.5cm. I then proceeded to measure the gap between the wall bottom and the top of the rolly paper packet which was an approx 5cm's.So basing the object height as H, the flat floor gap as G and the vertical gap between the wall and top of object as R, here is what I did:H^2 = 49.G^2 = 20.25.49 - 20.25 = 28.75.R = Square Root of 28.75 which equals an approx 5.3cm.Which leads me to believe this way of working it out is more or less correct. I tested a second time with a larger object to see if I got around about the same result (it wasn't perfectly accurate on either occasions due to using the tape measure and the wall etc).I did this on my math question and ended up with the answer of 2.4 metres which sounds much more reasonable and realistic to me.But my misses and even a few others I know are convinced that I am most likely wrong. But logically how can a leaning object be higher then it's tallest point...... the ladder for example, it's impossible to a degree *shrugs*.Wow long post.... anyway hope someone actually reads through and understands this heh.

The problem is that many people don't want to learn linux and obviously for the most part Windows or even Mac is just alot easier to use *generally*.I suppose if somone made a setup for a specific set of users with the same needs you could also increase the easy of use for a linux distro.I still feel that Linux is an infant though, it just seems to be that there are still tons of loose ends but the same would apply to Windows and Mac aswell just not in quite the same way.I suppose there always will be.

Well theres a slight rule or hole. Even the greatest and most sucessful people or things had flaws, buggered up, or did things wrong.Ebay is one example, power sellers. How many power sellers with 1000+ sales do you see with absolute 100% positive feedback? I would most likely say none, possibly a very small few.The further things go, the more problems that will come, or atleast it seems that way. I hope everyone understands what I mean.I used Mac's for years back in school, couldn't stand them but I wasn't much for computers either. I also tried a few Linux distros even before Windows.I eventually got to actually using Windows myself and stuck with it *shrugs*. Plus I like programming with the Win32 API and that isn't available with Mac or Linux, of course. However .NET is threatening that .
