Problems updating and shutting down with Windows 7Annoyingly Long Time For Shut DownHello, I'm having major problems updating and shutting down my computer. It's a brand new computer (ASUS UL80Vt-A1) that I only purchased about a month ago. It has the Windows 7 O/S. I have barely used the computer, as it's still very, very new. Yesterday I turned on the computer and it needed updates from Windows, so I started the updating. It took 7 hours to install 24 updates!! It would not shut off properly after the updates were installed. I also checked the history of the updates, and many of the updates failed to install. I had to take out the battery in order for the computer to shut off, then I turned it on again, and used it for a short time. When I went to shut down the computer, it had the sign for more updates! So, the computer was installing 10 more updates from Windows, and it took all night! I started at 7PM the night before, and it was still on when I woke up the next morning. It has been trying to shut down for many hours. The computer is still saying "shutting down". I can't use control-alternate-delete, as that does nothing. I think I will take out the battery again like I did before. Please help!! Do you think it's a virus? Perhaps it was sold to me with a virus already in the O/S? Why does my computer make this sound?Dell Computer Problems Need Help.I have a Dell XPS One Window Vista Home Premium computer that is about 2 years old. Six months ago the hard drive crashed and had to be replaced. Since then when I am using the computer it makes a strange noise that sounds like a door slamming shut! It may do this 4-5 times in a row and then not make the sound again for awhile. It doesn't matter whether I have 1 window open or 10. Page PlusPageplus CellularI just got Page Plus not so long ago. I have had every service I can think of and all of them are horrible where I live in Oak Ridge, NC except Verizon. Since Page Plus works off Verizon, it works in my home with no dropped calls, clear reception, and since there is a store close to my home where I bought the phone I can take the phone to the store if I have any questions or need support and they will fix it and they are so friendly. I have the $39.95 plan which allows me to talk and text unlimited and I have so much time on the web. With the other companies I previously had I had no reception in the house at all. I am so happy with this service and the price. They explained the payment cycle and everything to me clearly and to come to them if I had any trouble at all. I could not be happier with my touch screen phone that I got at a very reasonable price. I'm not saying that this would work for everyone since different services work horribly in different areas, but I didn't even have a data network on my previous plan with my other carrier because I had 300 minutes, my faves, and my bill was $52.00 and some change. It's the Christmas Special DVD which includes a bunch of FREE Linux computer games. It's a whopping 3.6gb. I have to use a Bittorrent client to reduce the download speed.
