Replying to bk2070Got a F750US Presario, worked like a champ for 2 years and I decieded to go w/a more powerful processer. Then it happened, machine would boot through post and get to windows (vista) and shut down w/o warning. Changed from a TK-57 to TL-64. Same deal on reboot (after 10min cool down) sys time would be back jan 1 2007 and fan and cpu freq/multi/voltage would be erratic (RightMark CPU utilty). I changed to "performance" power plan and e-thing was stable @ 2200 until I tried to tax the CPU then shutdown. Then I change to "power save" freq dropped to 800 per core and all was good. I know now it for sure was thermal because I failed to replace the thermal paste when switching to the new CPU and it boots fine and works ok. Just not looking forward to tearing the machine apart again to apply the paste.

One guy who knows a thing or two about these things suggested to submerge it completely under lukewarm water for a few minutes, except the screen, which should open and, of course, after removing the battery. Work the keys while under water an d rinse it to dissolve all the gunk. Let it dry completely for 48-72 hrs. Any second opinions? How is the hardrive going to take this? If you try to cancel by responding to their support, you get an immediate message back that says you may not cancel by writing them, only by calling them. New rules with every new email. I never did receive the mailed literature. If you missed the note about the $139.95 charge after asking for $4.95 worth of mailed literature, (like I did. I was not looking for it) they nail your credit card for th 139.95, and make no apologies for it. Upon the advise of my credit card company, I have cancelled my card to prevent any more excuses for additional charges to my account.
