  1. Ok, I took your advice and guess what I got a new 2GB ram (actually 2x1GB). I tried that anti-spam software you mentioned but it did not seem very useful to as I use GMail and GMail's anti-spam filter seems to work quite fine. But sure enough GMail's filter does not filter everything, this nice anti-spam filter filtered some of the mails I received though. The problem with such programs is that they are not effective from the beggining, I mean you need to train these programs by adding more filter settings.
  2. HR has not been deprecated, but maybe the attributes for it has been. Unless this is XHTML 2.0, though I believe it still exists as well as new introductory tags like separator, etc.If you're using XHTML, then the hr tag is <hr />If you're using HTML then it's just <hr>Cheers,MC
  3. Yes, that was the message I received. Of course, I ignored it and the results weren't pretty as the other member reported, too.
  4. SE rankings = Search Engine Rankings. How high on the list your site is translates into how easy you are to be found on a search request for the keywords used. DMOZ = A Directory of websites listed under the Mozilla umbrella of services. If you want to find something by subject or category, they will make that info available to you. The Directory is based on the sites which they have had submitted or that their Bot has found, not sure which. http://www.dmoz.org/ ODP = Open Directory Project by DMOZ. See Above.
  5. My machine didn't like the second one. Major "flashing" going on there. MM7 on an iMac with NN7. Maybe that is the problem???The first one was excellent. The way the flower and the leaves "grow out" and become the Menu was very nicely done.
  6. I doubt about that, all the previous post were in favour of FF, let me show you what IE has got and FF will never have. The browser loading speed is faster in IE than FF Security is more in IE when compared to FF. (Most of have the impression that FF is more Secure) IE is getting advertised on a stand-alone basis, whereas FF has Google's support. "Float" HTML commands work best with IE. Scrollbar colours command does not have affect on FF. The "hide status bar messgar" also does not seem to work fine all the time. And talking about those tabs, its not a copy, Micro$oft has built it upon user-feedback. You and I want tabs, right? Now we just have to wait until the final release of the software is made, mean-while all of us can use the IE 7 Beta verison. By supporting IE, I dont say IE is the best, actually IE sucks. I just gave you the brighter side of IE, which is smaller when compared to its darker side.
  7. At least Xisto allows you to do that, dont take advantage of this feature and dont end up add a number of sites as your signature. Just limit your self to your site, that would do it. Xisto aslo allows you to have images as signature provided you do not make the large which will affect slow-connection computers. I feel word-of-mouth is the best way to advertise your site as you will be reciving tragetted visitors that you can convert into buyers, rather than just blind visitors who will never give a second though about your site. Good luck

    Hello

Dont just say "hi" and stay like that, cause the admins here are a bit too strict about what, how much and where you post. Before posting on any forum I would like to tell you to read the "Announcements" as contains a lot of info. you must know at all times. And one more thing, do not copy anything from anywhere, anytime as this forum rules do not allow you to. Information about this can be found on that "Announcements" forum. The admins, mods, memebers refer copying as "plagiarism", incase you did not know what it meant. When I joint Xisto, I really had not read any of those rules and surely did not know what "plagiarism" meant.
  9. I just check out that game's site, it looks like that game is a freeware or something like that. I started downloading it, mean while let me check out some of those wallpapers, videos, snaps, etc. The wallpapers, videos and the snap shots as such tell me that this game requries a lot of my graphic cards resoucre (I have 128MB). I doubt it will work fine on my machine.Yeah, you can talk to me about AA in a few hours as I would have finished downloading it and then we both can discuss more into this topic, till that time be active at other forums.
  10. Really good and usefull tool for all webmasters, I tried out every feature listed on that site, everything seems to be going well except for that "Duplicate check" which seems to be talking more time than expected, but I managed to finish it. Well it just gave me a couple of more links to the site I had requested on. Put the Anti-Plagiarism banner was good, I am surely going to put that banner on my site as soon as I get hosting at AstaHosts.
  11. Not everyone can go a head with your opinion, Linux might me secure, fast and so on...but sure enough its'nt user friendly, when it comes to user friendly issues, Micro$oft is the best. Not every newbie or beginner can install that suse linux of yours and even use it. Linux is not meant for people who dont know much about computers and security. Its kind of difficult using it. I had a hard time installing linux in 1999 as there were very few manuals on linux/unix. Not that I completely disagree with you, I have to admit the Micro$oft knows all the ways of removing the last surviving cent in your pocket for the software. Ok, I bought one, and now I have 2 Desktops and 1 Laptop at home and I cant install that XP on all my systems, what a shity thing is that? For now I seem to be using Windows Vista on all my systems and I am hanging on with it. Just waiting for its realease. Lets just hope Bill make vista a freeware. I meant only hope, I know it will never become true.
  12. Flash menus NOT EDIBLE. Here youâll learn to make a menu for your website using Macromedia Flash 1)First Way â get URL Method. 2)Create a new movie. 3)Insert a couple of buttons from the common libraries or make your own buttons. 4)Select this button get in to actions for this by pressing F9. Select this button get in to actions for this by pressing F9 Insert this script as it is on (press, release) { getURL("sample.htm");} Do the same for the other buttons and what you have is a MENU for your website. Remember the name of your page takes place of SMAPLE and as flash is very sensitive be sure with .htm and .html endings.
  13. Hey, you seem to have quoted almost all the best and the free available anti-virus softwares. I dont know about Avast, I have'nt tried it out, but you must give a check to bit-defender. The free edition gives you just plain anti-virus but you might as well check out their pro edition which includes anti-spam, firewall...bla, bla. Another good free anti-virus I can think off is Panda. I got this AV on a CD magazine which gave me 1 year promotion subscription. It has all the features to defend you and your computer. Its a truly install and forget AV. You dont even have to think about updating it, as it automaticaly updates as soon as you connect to the internet. Just one more thing, if you are a genuine microsoft windows xp user (I am one) you get a 1 year subscription free from CA (I think so), just give it a check.
  14. I just checked out your site, nice work (designing). Anyway the best and the only way to increase your traffic is through hits from search engine because most of the time it targeted visiotrs. To get listed in SE and to improve your rankings you need to exchange links. This will give your site a big boost in SE rankings. Another good way is by getting listed in DMOZ, the ODP. Get listed here and you will get listed in all the major SEs (if you still have not).
  15. I think one of the mods will surely move this post to its exact place, in the meanwhile read this post where I psoted it. I know that most of you use linux/unix as an OS, but for those who are using Windows XP, you must have got bugged with that same old boot screen, try this for a change. Its a very nice boot screen, that shows that you are a hacker or atleast you support hacking. Get it, its a must. Click here to download the boot screen.
  16. Nice program, let me try it out. One thing I would ask is that wont it slow down my PCs boot time cause you said that it runs on system tray and most programs wchich run on the system tray run at start-up, the problem with my PC is that it has 128MB ram with P4 1.7GHz processor with Windows XP running on it. This makes the PC run really slow.
  17. The one thing I would like to tell about Windows XP is that the whole OS is an Annoyance, nothing works out perfectly on that. Windows Vista seems to be a little better than XP, but still Microsoft has to do something about it. I would prefer Linux/Unix anyday for Windows.
  18. If your topic is over, can I start a new one? But its about Nvu, thats y I dont want want to make a new post. I have a problem with Nvu, not about designing websites/pages using Nvu. But I wanted to compile Nvu on my own, I read a lot about it on their website, but I some how dont seem to understand a single word, can anyone help me?
  19. Sorry to continue the thread but this was not the answer I wanted. Let me spell out my doubts more specifically. So far as I have read and understood, Google does not allow publishers to modify the code in any form and Adsense code should be copied and pasted in your webpages direct. Please see Google Adsense Policy . I must appreciate, I am a new comer in the Adsense, so I do not really know much about that. As I have seen many experienced as well as co-operative Web masters here, so, if anyone of you may like to suggest me as to whether I should correct the Adsense codes for XHTML compliance or leave it intact as it is at present, that will be of great help for me. Regards, Sid
  20. By the way, if you're thinking why I didn't just ignore it and send it behind the movie, is because it has a timer too, which counts down from 5 minutes and will automatically restart unless you respond to either one of the options. This is like the modernised version of "are we there yet, are we there yet" to "can I reboot now, can I reboot now". To be honest, I don't feel like babysitting Windows and am glad it was only a temporary thing, but I feel the next time I go in, Automatic Updates will happen again, and again I'll be bothered with this annoying popup.I have also been thinking about why this was occuring. To me it's because Windows thinks when I watching a movie the computer isn't doing anything, so there's no events/actions happening. Maybe if I continously moved the mouse around while watching the movie I wouldn't have this problem, but that's not a solution is it.MC
  21. Tricky indeed if you could get a screenshot, hopefully that can clear up some of the issue.I have a few ideas what it could be, but I rather not suggest attempting them without actually confirming that this could be the problem, so a screenshot would help.If you resize the taskbar to make it larger, does that make a difference of whether it's shown or not, or moving the taskbar to a different position. Also does this only affect Web Browser, if so, which one(s)?Cheers,MC
  22. When you say shutdown, does it go through the process of shutting down? Otherwise this is power off, where the machine just turns itself off.Or could it be a restart? Is the crash a lock up where nothing responds or what?I really think each sympton should be emphasised as there's so many different causes that a lot of people assume that one thing to them, can mean many things to a technician. The symptons so far point to memory issues, which could be your RAM or your video memory, though it also can be a heating issue, power issue, etc. If you could eliminate the fact that it's only MS related products it crashes with, then that would help too, otherwise it could be a problem with MS products, in which you may need to install updates, but installing them on an unstable machine is never a good idea.Cheers,MC
  23. I had to switch back to Windows XP, after a very long time not running it, but I needed to test a script out in IE (for the Notice BBCode) since Fedora Core 5 and Wine have some minor issues with running it now. So being such a long time that I had ever gone into Windows, automatic updates decided to run, I didn't mind this. So I fixed the script for the BBCode, had time to kill because the updates weren't finished yet so I decided I'll watch a DVD while waiting.A quarter of the way through the movie, a dialog comes up saying that I must restart the computer for the updates to take place, I had the option of restarting now, or restart later. So since I was still watching the movie, I clicked on restart later, then I went back to the movie, about 10 minutes later it pops up again, so I said restart later... guess what, the next 10 minutes it popped up again, it was starting to piss me off and ruin my movie.I would say a lot of foul words about it, which clearly would show how annoyed I was about it.Why would I be annoyed, it's not the fact it interrupted me watching the movie, it's the fact that I told the computer what I wanted and it completely disregarded what I said, it's like a trouble child, who you tell to sit down, and it decides to go off and do it's own thing no matter how many times you tell it.As for this annoyance, it clearly shows you what not to do and I hope no one here goes off to make something as persistent as this, as this is clearly the "are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet" behaviour you'd expect from young children.Aknowledgements go out to Microsoft, thank you, thank you, thank you. If you have any more surprises please feel free to do what the hell you like on my computer because I am not impressed.MC
  24. It could be due to it being locked, but I feel the real reason is because it's corrupted, which happens quite often. It's probably sitting on unreadable sectors at the moment making it impossible for you to do those commands.I'll list the easy things you can perform first.Rename the folder, then delete.Set all folder attributes to off, then delete.Cutting it and pasting it in another location, then removing it.Open up command prompt, browse to the parent folder that it is in e.g. cd "c:\program files\", and then del foldername. Those would be the easy things to perform before suggesting booting into safe mode and trying to do the same, but first just attempting a normal delete. It could also be because you are not allowed permission to perform that because you are not part of the folders permission, if you're an administrator you will just add yourself to the ownership group and then delete it.Cheers,MC
  25. Notice from mastercomputers: I have updated my Notice BBCode site Just would like to point out the site now, which has instructions to get it working under IPB (not tested though), also fixes to work with IE, except I need to work on alpha-transparency, which I may remove since it would require server-side scripting, which won't do for this, so maybe revert back to normal images without transparency, but makes changing the colour easy. The link is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Cheers, MC
