ITs the HEAT ya silly foo.I'm 60 years old, SciFi Fan, 3 college degrees in various seriously heavyweight stuff , doin computers for 35+ (was there when the floppy was invented - got SN 0003! ). Got a 3GHz P4 with low-end 256M video. I check out the games tech every 5-10 years to keep up, cuz games is where the tech is most advanced. Yup.Did half-life 1, to, & Episode 1. Very Good. Did Stalker. Stalker is good (and fun), but much more computer needy... SO you must make sure your POWER SUPPLY is adequate (when you dropped in the video card, you needed more power! then the supply runs hot, yada yada short version is put in a 350(+) watt supply!) BUT THEN you must be sure you have CPU and Video cooling. Open the case and leave it open, and run an external fan (eg space heater on fan only) to keep things a bit cooler. You may have to drop the video settings one notch, but the game will run smoother.New programming technology will cool things down without sacrificing performance in future games. Still, We won't be able to run games on x32 P4s for much longer. Its amazing how far we have gone! Stalker is a dark, post-apocalypse setting which may not appeal to everyone. I thought they did a nice job capturing the atmosphere of the famous old SF story on which it is based. Thats my comment. Im not sure if someone has said this but I personally have a creative(Zen V) and its a 1gig but I have 7 albums on it that are big I'm talking 24 songs on each album, and its only half full. the ipods do have a cool look I will agree with that but the one I have costs about $50 and it has radio, pictures, Video, and you can also make unused space into a zip drive (flash drive what ever you all it)I'm not sure if ipods can do that but I know that you have to get an adapter to listen to radio and the video ones cost 400+. so I'm really impressed with mine ive also had the Zen nano plus and that one has had great performance good durability (trust me that thing took alot of abuse) but I lost it so I decided to step it up to the zen V I recommend creative-koolman

Hi guys. I am a member of staff for an online game called Chain of Command. We are a growing community of players returning to a game lost long ago when 2am games company went bankrupt.At present the game is full of glitches. But we only have a compiled version of the game. We can't fix anything. For 3 years we've been searching for a way to get the source code so we can fix the game, from hiring Private Investigators to help track down the original programmers, to talking to professionals who would charge us $40k to $60k. We are a free game and run on donations, we clearly don't have that kind of cash.Now, with my sob story over, anyone have any suggestions? I am a programmer and I'm getting to grips with C++. Another guy on our team is an excellent C++ coder. So once we get the source code I'm sure we can make improvements. I'd appreciate any help with this. I downloaded and ran boomerang, but it commits an illegal operation during the Decompile stage. I've tried a few times with different downloads of the software. This may be caused by one of the many glitches in the coding :)We can have considered rewriting the game from scratch, but apart from the workload being far too heavy for our small staff, there are equations within the code that we could never recreate accurately. We aren't looking for the easy way out. This is our last resort, as we would obviously like an original copy of the commented source code with all the variables intact.Sorry for the length of this post And thanks in advance for any help.-SlickRed

To get to device management just simply right click on "My computer & select "manage" from there you have skipped going to control panel, administrator options & yada yada yada - - - Hope this helps someone at least with some time. Here are the steps from Steam web site. They worked for me with one additional step, Step 7.Using Offline ModePlease follow the instructions below to configure Offline Mode on your machine: 1. Start Steam online - make sure the Remember my password box on the login window is checked to. Verify that all game files are completely updated - you can see the update status for a game under the My Games tab (when the game shows as 100% - Ready it is ready to be played in Offline Mode) 3. Launch the game you would like to play offline to verify that there are no further updates to download - shut down the game and return to Steam once you have confirmed that the game can be played 4. Go to Settings to ensure the Do not store account information on this computer option is not selected 5. From the main Steam window, go to File and select Go Offline 6. Click OK to restart Steam in Offline Mode 7. (Added by me) Launch the game again and select offline mode when the game asks. The first time I didn't, I just shut down my laptop and move it, and it wouldn't work. So Be sure to launch it again right away in offline mode.-grampy
