  1. You got a problem with your site at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  2. Wow this is a good list of free 3D games. I seemed to fall in love with the first picture. It somehow resembles World of Warcraft, at least for the button pictures. You can even get more games in this site. They list them all down. http://www.onrpg.com/ In future, try posting pictures in thumbnail form so they can load faster. Also it is sleeker that way.
  3. It looks like you are having some problem with your network card. Have you just reinstalled your drivers for your network card? Or have you reinstalled Windows before the whole problem started? It might be the cause of an invalid or corrupted drivers for your network card. Make sure you get the correct and updated drivers. In your situation, it looks like your computer immediately restarted once the status of your network card changes. If you are sure that it is not the drivers that caused the problem, then it may be the fault from Hamachi since it uses the resources from the network card. The program may edit configurations, such as your network status, IP addresses, share settings etc. Be sure you check the Hamachi options to confirm if it does not change your network settings. I can suggest you to uninstall Hamachi first, and try to go into the internet. If you are able to surf the internet well, then it must be the fault from Hamachi. Otherwise, it has to be the fault from your network drivers. Reinstall the network drivers if Hamachi is not the cause of the fault. 4. What is your point? There is a Fast Reply button as well. I always use that button when I'm replying a fast post.
  5. I don't think you can do a domain hosting yourself easily because it requires a combination of a few stuffs. Domains are connected to nameservers to get the IP addresses. Also, there's a need for bandwidth and an alway-online requirement. Moreover, to update a the link in the nameservers could take some time. And definately you don't own the nameservers. Even paid domains are allowed 24hours to connect to a Xisto website. And everytime a user keys in the domain in the URL address, it will point to the nameservers. The nameservers then provides the updated IP address of Xisto and point you to Xisto website. Hence we all rely on nameservers in the internet. Unless you are using IP address in the URL, which is possible.
  6. If you are saying that you want to use a database of email address and send to all these address by email in a single go, you will need a mailing list script. They can be found here, free of charge and runs in PHP. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If you are trying to determine an authenticated login to a website, like how you enter your password before entering your inbox for your email, you will need a user authenication or management script. They can be found here, running on PHP as well. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Be sure to read through their documents in the zip packages that you download to configure your preferences before running it. They should be clear enough to configure. Otherwise you can also come back here and post questions to the scripts that you don't understand. The prople here are gladly to help you as much as we all can.
  7. WOW! That's beautiful Avalon..! Suddenly I'm feeling so proud as a Xisto member. Ok that will go into my signature.I guess the mods and admins will also eager to use that bar as well. Anyway is there anyway if I can use javascript to change pictures in this board? It's for this bar to change to another picture when a mouse is over each part of the bar.Thank you so much!
  8. Reformatting simply means clearing off your harddisk entirely and reinstall with an operating system. The result will look as if you had just bought a new computer, because there will be nothing in your reformatted computer. You will also need to reinstall all your software then, since all was cleanned in the formatting process. Reformatting ensures that viruses or error scripts gets cleared off your harddisk. Do take note that reformatting may not be as easy as you think. There are steps to do it. You will need to prepare certain tools before hand. A boot disk with reformat program will be needed. Also, the boot disk needs to ensure that it can enable your CD ROM drive to install your copy of Windows XP from a CD. Otherwise, you can also boot directly from the CD itself if you are using an original copy.
  9. I never learnt Flash. But if I would, I'll search the Internet for examples and work it out myself. I did self study using the Internet as a tool for other stuffs too. Currently I'm self teaching PHP. I never learn that in school. Here's what you can get for Flash http://www.echoecho.com/flash.htm http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/ Remember Google is your friend..
  10. I thought http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ was for real. It didn't work though. But it's kindda weird. Why the name?
  11. Actually there's alot of stuff in the cPanel. Mostly I don't really know how to use them. But one feature which I really like in cPanel is the Webstats. Wow, I can see the IP of those who visited my site, their browsers and OS type as well. I also know when was the last visit of the search engine spiders. Also, I know which websites had a link back to my site. I think it's all so powerful.
  12. I've got a Dell Inspiron 8500 3 years ago. It's working fine still now and working fast. I've been playing Warcraft 3 on it, without much system lags. Doom3 wasn't a problem as well. It has a embedded GeForece 4 graphics card, and 512 RAM. It's running on Pentium 4M processor. Everything works great.I guess you had chose a wrong medel of computer from Dell. A celeron processor wasn't meant to play games. More often, Dell made that laptop for mobile office use. That's the reason it's the cheaper computer in Dell's laptops range. In future when you are buying a new computer, do check out it's specifications first before buying. You wouldn't want to buy another office computer to play your games. Definately it will be crappy, for all brands of computers. For me, it's Dell.
  13. Somehow it could be a virus because the whole thing started with his internet browser that fails to load or install a plugin. He could have visited sites that forced users to install a plugin or activeX stuffs before he can access their websites. Such websites could be a hackers site or a crack ware site. There are also chances that some sites that looked innocent be installed with such script to corrupt the computer when visited. BOAW must have installed a script to get the whole problem started. If it is really true that he visited a site that is loaded with a virus or related scripts, it will definately not be the overheating of his computer that caused the system to automatically restart suddenly. He also checked the fan and vent for blockages. That doubles up that it isn't the overheating problem. Subsequently after the automatic restart, he was prompted with the boot options when he didn't activated that menu. That could be the cause where the virus or related script was activated since his last successful shutdown. Because Windows XP saves the user session before shutting down the computer, the script could have been saved into his boot records to prompt the boot menu on the next system bootup. The whole process gets repeated and he was continuously prompted with the boot menu, without himself activating it. He tried to do a system recover but failed. Soon after, he receives the typical Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Windows XP was made to a minimal BSOD that you will now seldom see BSOD in Windows XP as often as the previous versions of Windows. Usually when BSOD happens in Windows XP, it is due to the corrupted drivers or unrecognised command in Windows XP. That could be caused by a change of bit data, from "1" to "0", making Windows XP not to understand and get halted, resulting in the BSOD. Otherwise if it's a proper Windows XP internal code, Windows XP will not don't understand it's own commands, unless it's being changed by a virus or an unknown script. Yes it is already screwed up. I'll consider that as a virus that has infected your computer. As you see the trend of your system, it's becoming worst since it started with just the internet explorer plugin or activex error to the state where you were receiving BSOD. Everything seemed organised in destruction of your Windows XP, and you got no control of it from the start. I would suggest a reformat of your computer immediately, before it starts infecting your BIOS records. You won't know what that virus will do next, hence a reformat is required. It's safer than sorry. Once your BIOS gets infected, there goes your computer. You can then get a new computer and throw away this one.
  14. I've seen this site. I'm totally disturbed by what is happening in China. Why would the Chinese Government be doing such things? People who came from all over China who went to the Chinese Governement to appeal to stop such activities were eventually arrested. Most of these arrested innocents, or all of them, could not get out alive. I don't understand why. Even a poor old farmer wasn't spared. There are many more in the photo gallery in that webpage. However, we cannot say or write bad comments about it, because it relates a country, China. I'm not sure how, just being too disturbed.
  15. I agree with jlhaslip to run the validator. However, the validator sometimes give weird results that we all might simply ignore. Even professional websites include these errors. Take Microsoft.com for example. Try validating Microsoft's site and you will see why. Your problem should be a simple one. However, we cannot help you much without showing us your codes. If you had important data in your codes, you can always create another copy and remove the data. We just want to see your table codes to see if it's compatible with many browsers. Recently I'm been making a webpage and I had similar problems regarding the thick blue bar that you saw on another browser. For mine, I saw it on Opera browser while Firefox and IE appeared pretty fine. Also, with much experience in web development, you will realise that what you created is not always what you want as viewed on other browsers when CSS is involved. Without CSS, almost all the times you will see similar results in all web browsers. Because CSS is rather new technology, there has not been a standard that all browsers follow to render CSS codes properly. Hence you will have to take note on particular CSS codes. Apart from showing us a sample of your HTML table code, a screen shot of what you see in both or all the browsers that you used will be good for us to look into the problem in more details.
  16. Seeing many good testimonials about Outpost Firewall, I decided to give it a try after formatting my computer 3 days ago. I downloaded the free version, called the OutpostFree Firewall. Indeed it was quite easy to use. Just set it to the Wizard Mode and the software that is connecting to the internet will be prompted by Outpost for access from you. The problems come when I am connect to the internet. The Wizard Mode blocks everything still. In it's documents, the Wizard Mode suppose to prompt me a question whether or not to allow the program to access the internet. It did prompted, but it is not working as expected. In Wizard Mode, it's default mode, suppose to only allow those that I've set to access the internet, didn't work. Only when I set "Allow Most Mode" then all my applications starts working again. I don't quite trust that mode because I won't know which programs are accessing the Internet. Previously I was using Norton Internet Security, it kept pestering me if the application is allowed to connect to the internet, and it worked as promised, though taking alot of memory and resources. So in the end, I've had no choice but to set to "Allow Most Mode" so I can use the Internet, or I'm blocked behind my own firewall. Other than that, I've also got frequent Blue Screen of Death from Windows XP, and the message in the BSOD prompted an error with "filtnt.sys" and regarding to the matter "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I've searched the Internet and found out that many people using Outpost firewall has similar problems. I've never had a BSOD on my notebook, since I bought it 3 years ago. Since many Outpost user had similar problems, I've to certainly assume that the BSOD comes from Outpost. In Outpost forums, it's support were weak and disappointed. Many had their questions unanswered, and the Admins seemed to care less about it and pushed the problem to Microsoft. Certainly that isn't right. We all aren't computer idiots. Windows users who seldom had BSOD suddenly had such thing appearing frequently after installing Outpost. Then later, Outpost released a new version to a bug fix to this filtnt.sys and the BSOD crash problem. That only applies on the paid version I suppose. Because I'm using the free version of Outpost, I'm still having the BSOD. Now I'm getting bad thinking about Outpost. Can any one let me know of you are having the same problem?
  17. I think, wait till you learn .NET, you will find it is cooler than Java. To me, Java is not a very easy programming language. Probably I am .NET trainned because .NET is really easy to program. No much complicated programming skills are need for .NET. In my school, I was taught .NET in the first 2 years. In the 3rd year, I was taught with a brand new programming platform, Java. I find it not easy to get the hang out of it. Java is really sensitive, in which the fact that Java is case-sensitive and more. .NET however issn't case sensitive. If it is, the IDE for .NET will automatically change to the correct case so the programmer can basically not bother about it.I don't really like the use of extended classes in Java as it gets complicated when the program gets bigger. Sometimes a "null exception" happens for no reason. And this error basically halts the entire programming work. Sometimes I restarted the computer, the null exception error just go away. Weird, but it's true. Such disadvantages made me think bad about Java.Of course on the other hand, Java is a free programming language that is used quite commonly now adays. However I believe once Windows Vista is launched, Java may be supported lessly on the Vista operating system. Vista will be fully a .NET compatible software. Since .NET is from Microsoft, we all have to pay a price for it, otherwise Java will be an alternative.Pro and cons.. The programmer have to decide on preferences, compatibility and scalability.
  18. Actually Linux operating systems don't quite work well on notebook computers. However, there are some distributions that made themselves compatible to be installed on a notebook computer, but not every notebook. Some brands and models of the notebook are still not very supported by Linux due to it's different hardware configuration and features. Linux therefore require a suitable driver to run on your notebook provided their drivers are compatible to your notebook computer hardware. Here's a list of notebooks and distributions that can work and announced compatible. http://www.linux-laptop.net/
  19. Pretty cool clock that really floats in the air with magnetic forces. It's a nice gadget to place in the bedroom and it looks as if it is a high-tech clock. However a gentle hit on the clock may displace it and probably damage the clock if it hits the ground or something else. It can be easily moved out if its magnetic field. For the next moment, it will become a non-floating clock again.Anyway that's something new and certainly looks pretty cool gadget to have.
  20. I assuming you are asking what scripts they are using for their webpages. The only thing we know will be the type of server-side scripting they are using. Database or how they manage their data, we will not know as it is done on the servers and is inivisible to us. Ebay.com Most probably JSP. The hint if from the Java logo on it's page. The site is powered by Java. Amazon.com Not quite sure. The URL in Amazon are pretty well hidden and the technology used is not very obvious. Msn.com ASP definately. It's part of a Microsoft site. We will be laughing if they use any others. Yahoo.com Same as Amazon.com, the URL used are pretty well hidden and the technology used is not very obvious. Google.com Same as Amazon.com, the URL used are pretty well hidden and the technology used is not very obvious. But I believe Google is using PHP with Zend to speed up processes.
  21. Follow these steps on the various software. I assume you know how to handle ISO files. The follow guides I'm found only converts MDF files to ISO files. MagicISO Download : http://www.magiciso.com/download.htm Guide : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ CD/DVD image file to ISO mdf2iso Download : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Alcohol 120% Download : http://www.alcohol-soft.com/ MDF files appear to be an virtual image of a CD ripped using Alcohol 120%. Hence I believe Alcohol 120% will do the job for you.
  22. Why not use the free version forum from InvisionFree Boards? It's free and it's one of the professional free forums. It's also hosted on their servers and you will not need to spend time installing yourself. Simply sign up an account there and setup your forum configurations and you are good to go. http://www.zifboards.com/
  23. It's quite good, but can never be trusted. The firewall provided by Microsoft is still in beta. Attacks from the internet still stand a high chance of invading your computer if you use Windows Firewall. What I suggest is to disable the Windows Firewall and get a dedicated Firewall software that handles the firewall tasks itself. You can also get a list of free security software tools from this thread. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/34146-free-security-software-list-antivirus-firewall-antispyware-gather-and-make-a-list-of-free-security-software-here/
  24. In order for us to know the details of your broadband modem router, it is best to also provide us the brand and the model number. I believe, since it's a router with 4 ethernet ports, there will be a port forwarding function in its configuration page. With the model number provided, you can look into more detailed steps on helping you to do the port forwarding. If it's just a modem, there will not be any configurations to it. Hence port forwarding will seem to be an unknown command to the modem. Since it has 4 ethernet ports, it is definately a modem with build-in router. Configurations will definately be required to send data to the specific computer connected to each port on the router.
  25. It's seems like the SeaMonkey is made to replace the Mozilla Suite. It includes a mozilla web browser, email client, irc chat client and also a WYSIWYG web page composer which is never before used as a feature in any browsers. However, it's falls back to be basically just another web-browser from Mozilla, but with additional features.Anyway I though the SeaMonkey was a pet creature..
