  1. @stevedog.welcome, too! Thanks for dropping by.Unfortunately, that isn't one of my drawings. Still looking for time to scan them. We'll see each other on the techie threads. I sure will need lots of help. @VelmaThanks. This will be my 20th. I'm enjoying it here. You got to share your opinions without descrimination. That's what I've been looking for. By the way, I'm a fan of both old and new schools. but still prefers the classics. And I've just read the rules.
  2. I haven't read the book either. Woody Guthrie of Rock and Roll. Quiet a guy. I also like Bob Dylan.
  3. I also believe in worshiping both joy and sorrow. They're both ends of human emotions. In order for us to live life fully, both ends have to be experience. It's just like Yin-Yang. A balance between two opposing sides. A balance in our lives. Maybe this is the same reason that Buddha recognized sufferings as a Truth of our world.
  4. Some friend told me of a story about a Saint. I'm sorry, I forgot her name. When this Saint was just a nun leaving on a convent. Someone asked her what she'll do if she finds out that it will be her last day on earth. She answered, "I'll do the same things I do everyday." The message is clear, right? This is a very inspiring story and up until now I follow what she believes in. In living life without regrets.
  5. i commend you for this wonderful topic. !!What will be the world without math? (Although its inevitable for humanity to not discover math, it still is a good question.) We'd be reduced to just being savages. We'll only live to eat and be eaten. We'd only be like a pack of animals looking for ways to survive on earth. And also, w/o math we wont be having this thread thinking what the world will be w/o math...
  6. the thread clearly states "End of the World"Extinction of humanity doesn't mean end of the world. It's not just a human world, we share it with other creatures. Global warming, nuclear war, waste, the list goes on. Well, that creates havoc to all organisms, including us. We all die, someone will continue living. Someone more fit to live in a world we call "destroyed". We'll have to look at bigger picture here. Humanity ceases to exist (due to self-destruction), the world will still be there for other organisms. We're just like dinosaurs, they dominate the world once and they're gone. That clearly will be the faith of humanity. How about the World? I believe it act just as a container of life, no not even just life but of things. It's a symbol of discontinuity and inconsistency in the universe. And as long as the sun don't die (estimated is 4.5 Billion years), the world will go on containing life and whatever it is that it can contain.
  7. Nice one...I totally agree with amit.. we can express our beliefs here without fear of being banned. (well, unless your beliefs is cursing other people, trolling and flaming..)Back to the topic. You have quiet an idea.. Maybe we're all just programmed, everything is just a dream (Matrix), the sims-like..but what if we're all just figment of imagination? an imagination of an author creating a world like ours. Just like how tolkien, jordan, rowling, and more more authors create their fictional world.. hahaha...i believe the world was created out of probability. a probability so small, only 1 such exists at the same time in the universe. Yeah, big bang started it all, then what happens after that? it's not just like particles form into a globe, amino acids were produced, then DNA, single-celled oragnisms, multi-cellular, plants, animals, humans....robots? There's more to it. There's always more to everything we know, more to everything we ever wanted to know.
  8. We obviously have start thinking of saving earth. It's all we have. It may not be as big as what the "up there's" can do but we can contribute. We breath the same air, drink the same water, under the same sky and sun. It's an effort that everyone should work on. And it will need descipline. TONS of it...
  9. With the current relationship status of the 2 countries, war isn't one of the possibilities. just yet. undeniably, both countries are afraid of each other. US, a democratic country and is obviously against communism, is building up its relationship with China. So much for the arm support of US to those 3rd world countries with communist rebel groups. Afraird, eh? China, on the other hand, is also afraid. Look at how China tried so hard to protect its relationship with US in the midst of the conflict between US and North Korea. Now NK doesn't have much of a choice but to negotiate with US. Afraid, eh? Both countries are afraid. So obviously, they'll keep on. But someday, it will happen. It's just enevitable for a prospering nation to protect its interests to conflict with the interests of a developing nation. At this point both are just building up, either US prevails or China rise to supremacy...that remains to be seen. Hell, no one wants to see another world war. people do. Politicians? That's another story.
  10. I have 2..International: The Beatles. The band that opened a new door to rock and roll music (rock music, if you may).Local: Asin (filipino for Salt). the band that started ROOT ROCK ..I've made this word myself not knowing what to call the band's genre..hahaha.. well, they call themselves the band that started root music in the philippines. It's a music that goes down to the roots of your ethnicity. The use of native instruments and lyrics for day to day life, that's root music (I guess.)..Since they mix it with western instruments (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and drumkit), it becomes a mixture of root and rock and roll. so Root Rock.. hahah..
  11. Hi guys. I'm new here and this will be my 10th post. This board seems fun so I'll keep on the updates. By the way, I'm from the Philippines. Quiet new to web-making (i don't want to call it web developing as I'm not as good as most of you). A new college graduate and taking some time lobbying around the city. If there is one thing I'm good at.. It's manga/nime and rock and roll music..Been addicted to Manga/Anime for 12 years now.. and around 9 years of addiction to rock and roll music. Nice to be here..Thanks..
  12. I'm from the Philippines. The best thing about my nation is having the chance to show yourself and peolple doesn't descriminate between races. (There might be some, but just a little.)We're in a democratic country and it's the best thing there is. Yes, I know, we're a poor country, a third world country if you want to call it. Not as rich as America or as prosperous and fast-deeloping country as China but it's my homeland. This is where I was born, and whatever happens, this is where I want to die. Filipinos (most) are bound by the same faith in a single God, may it be Christ or Allah.
  13. I've seen the movie. Not as good as the manga and anime version. It was just a Light - L fight. Well, it's pretty much as a movie should be. You can't give good details on movies. It took more than 30 episodes to show it on TV and around 20+ volumes on manga. We can't really expect much of the movie. To give credit to the team, Ryuuku really is the same as the manga.
  14. Transformers is a very good movie. I grew up watching the cartoons and was hook to the "Kooohh...koohhh....kAhhh..kkkaaahkk" sound when they transform. Was able to watch the Live Action 2 weeks ago and it rocks. It was just the way I imagined it to be when I was just a kid. It still is like an introduction so there isn't much fight scenes. However, watch the details of the transformations. And you just don't get to smile while watching the movie, you will also laugh with the comic scenes. If you're an cartoon and/or anime fan. This is a must-see.. *Winks.
  15. Sorry to hear that dude. I guess you really have to know the person you choose to share your life with. Marriage isn't just like playing a PC game. There aren't Quick Save and Quick Load keys. (CoD2). Hmm. She may just not be the right one. We'll it was better since she told you within just 3 years. Someone out there could still be married for 10 + years, now has kids, and his wife will file a divorce later this afternoon. There's always good reasons for everything.
  16. As what some general said..( Sorry to forget his name..) "Military doesn't start war. Politicians start war."And he's absolutely right. Who want to see people die? Who want to see soldiers killing people. Noone, by default. It's just for the "greater glory of the empire" that war starts. Napoleon waged wars for the same reason. So is Hitler and Japan during world war 2. The reason that they were saying is for UNIFICATION. Behind it lies the economic stability of their countries and greater stature in the eye of the world. This is what you see in the new wars and wars that have been. It will always be the reason.
  17. The loveliest of them all? WAR and PEACE by LEO TOLSTOYThe good part of the book is that the protagonists has to change multiple times to cope with the changing world. This showed how the world really works, people can't change just once. We have to change every moment, everyday of our lives we change in all aspects (Physical, Emotional, Spiritual and Financial).
  18. Hello there magician, salamangkero ha? hehehe.. from the philippines, too. As for your question regarding which art. I'd prefer the Eternal enduring art. I'm not an art student , but an artist, so bear with my explanations. The legend one sounds so good, it reflects its own reality, being just a legend. The good part of transitory art is the mystery behind it and, I guess, that makes it more interesting. As what deidara has done to himself. "Art is a blast." He did keep up to his view of art being an explosion until the end. Why, the other? Art is universal. And universality is, what I believe, synonymous to eternal. Time isn't just the best healer, it's also the best test. Old friends are better, vintage rocks, old wood comfortable, old wisdom, etc. Sasori died just like how he believes art should be. A puppet, pierced in the heart. But if you look at them both, they still have parts of them (lesser parts) who clings to the other art. Sasori keeping his heart and deidara's self detonation to create a huge crater. Art really is the combination of both. At what ratio? That's where the artist comes.
  19. I've seen a movie about Ghengis Khan. never understand a word since its in Mongolian Language but it was still good. He's a real good leader and was the first to use cavalry in action. The Mongol Cavalry is swift and furious. LOL.. I think he's the one who started the Silkroad Trade Route between Asia and the West. We get to see more on western leaders on TV shows and books and little of those from other Empires. Well, what can we expect. !!Historians sometimes exaggerate things to make it sound so good. But Genghis, is real good.
  20. I'm a chemistry degree holder. I kind of hated it, at first, but you'll learn to love it along the way. The introduction of the subject, general chemistry, does suck. You only got to see chem principles and not much of its applications. Later on the subject (Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chem, Inorganic chem, Physical Chem and Biochemistry), it's better. Well, i've learned lots of things. We never call Chemistry as the "Central Science" without a reason, don't we? Here's a brief overview of the course: A. Analytical Chem: Qualitative (what is in there) and Quantitative (how much of that something is in there). B. Organic Chemistry: Chemistry of almost all compounds of Carbon. This one is pretty huge and exciting. C. Inorganic Chemistry: All those remaining compounds and substances that's not catered by Organic Chem belongs here. This one has much more scope. D. Physical Chemistry: More on the nature of the substances. And the hardest subject, I guess so. E. Biochemistry: As the name suggests, the chemistry of organisms. (This is where you get lots of sleep. !!) The laboratory is pretty amazing, I tell you. I may sound like a nerd.. I guess I am..
