  1. Oh boy, if you think Paypal and Ebay scams are bad, you should try selling puppies on line! I am constantly bombarded with offers to send me a check that is more than the purchase price and they want me to forward the balance to them via Western Union. I really don't see how they could ever do any good with those, they are so obviously scams, they answer internet ads but rarely take the time to make a decent looking email, it will read something like "I would like to buy your (puppy) please email me asking price and current condition" they don't even bother to take the parenthisese out of their copy/paste form letter, they could send this to anyone selling anything, a car, boat, horse, whatever, if they had sense enough to change the word, but most of the time they don't bother. It seems to me that if you are going to try to be a con artist, you would have to be smarter than the people you are trying to con, and believe me, these people don't have a clue! The flip side to this con is the one where they are trying to sell you something. Always be leary of anyone offering a puppy for a riduculously low cost. English Bulldogs and Yorkshire terriers are the most common breeds used in these scams. This is due to the normally high cost of either of these breeds, and the popularity. The con artist offers the purchaser a pup for very low fee, usually $200-300 and they are playing on the nature of cheapskates who have always wanted one of the affor mentioned breeds but couldn't afford the normal sticker price. Bulldogs generally sell for well over $1,000, to $2,000 and most quality yorkies are $1,000 or even more. (in some cases, the larger type Yorkies will sell for much less, but certainly not $300) So always exercise caution when buying/selling online. Just use a little common sense, and remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  2. Minor scoldings or corrections if used infrequently will not make your puppy afraid of you. I have to do things to the pups all the time that they do not like. Giving shots, wormings,(those wormers taste awful!) baths, are all things pups really hate, but are needed for their own good. Dogs are very forgiving. As long as they get more positive contact than negative, they will still love you.
  3. What a great story, sounds so much like some of my projects. I can truly sympathise with the weed eater thing. Those blasted things have got to be the most cantankerous piece of equipment ever invented. We have half a dozen or so of them hanging up down in the barn that have bit the dust. Unfortunatly, they are about the only way to get next to fencing, and we have a lot of fencing to keep weed free. Our most recent weed eater is a Walmart cheapy, it has one pathetic little string, it won't cut much of anything except grass, forget it if you run into a woody plant stalk. And then there is getting the dang thing started, and then keeping it running, I'm usually wore out by the time it's running. As much as I would prefer to remain organic, the use of spray on weed killers is probably going to replace a lot of weed eating. A pump up sprayer is a lot easier to pack around, and unlike the weed eater, after using it for 20 minutes, I can still feel my arm. The vibration of the weed eater leaves my arm numb for several hours, after using it just a short time.
  4. Being stupid has nothing to do with it. I've been in a couple crashes, the seat belt would of made no difference had I been wearing it. Probably would of added a few extra bruses if I had been wearing it. HOWEVER.......not just once, but TWICE I have been driving down the road minding my own business and had my car catch on fire. The government can do all the studies they want to and pass all the laws to protect me from myself, but there is no way on god's green earth I am ever going to tie myself down in a flaming death trap! If that sucker burns I am not about to take that extra second to unbuckle myself before I bale out! I'll take my chances with some road rash rather than becoming a crispy critter.
  5. I don't know about the case you are talking about, but the pregnaunt "man" that was recently on Opra is not really a man at all. It is a woman who had a sex change operation, but did not have her/his uteris removed. So I really don't see how they can claim she is a he, or whatever. That's really cheating, lol.
  6. Oh Man, I'd give anything for a chance to be bored for awhile!!!! My sugestion would be to just come on over to my place, and I can fix you right up. We have grass to mow, plenty of fence rows that need to be done with a weed eater, garden to plant, goats that need wormed and hooves trimmed, dogs that need groomed, flowers and trees that need to be planted, fence that needs fixed, house cleaning, dog house painting, cars and equipment that need repair,(if you can't rebuild the engine on the back hoe you can shovel gravel into a wheelbarrow and use that to add gravel to the dog pens, junk that needs loaded and hauled off, repairs on a couple of outbuildings, a roof that needs redone, once you fix the roof, there is a lot of repair work in the house on the ceilings, then there is fixing everything I lost when my computer crashed, and of course, somehow figuring out how to get my web site back...................
  7. Somebody just shoot me! Like it wasn't enough that last week my web site went down, then friday my computer crashed. Maybe it was that tornado, who knows. Had to totally wipe the ^)*^$#(_^@^ bloody thing. Lost all my files, programs, favorites, passwords, EVERYTHING. 6 FRIGGING DAYS WITH NO COMPUTER!!!!I REALLY need my site back up. I have read all the posts in this thread, and I'm still not sure what to do. I did check with NetSol and this part is therens.computinghost.com ns2.computinghost.com Please help!
  8. Very good common sense information. Now lets touch on a related subject, How to leave a Message on an Answering Machine State your name, and a short, but SPECIFIC reason for the call. I hate those calls that just say...I saw your add.....I may have a dozen ads runing, how am I supposed to know which one you are talking about? And for crying out loud, when you leave your phone number say it SLOWLY and plainly. Don't rattle it off so fast the person listening to the message can't understand you. It actually helps if you say the number twice. It also helps if you know your number before you leave it. Yes, I know this may seem obvious, but you wouldn't believe how many times people start to say a number, then say, no, wait', it's.... and you end up with a long string of random numbers that you have no idea what part of are the actual number.
  9. I have been listening to the media's take on the removal of the over 400 children from the Mormon farm in Texas. A lot of it is rather disturbing to me. Just today they mentioned that they had found signs of broken bones on I believe the number was about 40 of the children. But I think they are really grasping at straws, trying to make these people look bad. These are farm kids, they feed livestock, and do other farm work, is their percentage of broken bones higher than the national average or is it just more media hype? I think what bothers me most is that this country was founded on freedom of religion. But this sounds to me like you are free to enjoy your religious beliefs ONLY if you believe the way everone wants you to believe. If it is a persons religion to have more than one wife, how can we have freedom of religion if the government says we cannot????? This just doesn't make any sense to me. Do we have freedom of religion or not? Sure doesn't seem like it. Originally the media was taking up the issue of the 14-16 yr old girls that were getting married, to older men of course. But what about all the teenage girls running the streets today who'd parents don't give a rat's hind end about them so they are out whoring and using drugs and getting knocked up, where is child services to take them and lock them up for their own safty????I also heard some horrible satistics about how children in foster care end up unemployed, homeless, etc. These kids were taken from homes and put into this system that actually threatens their future more than the conditions in which they were living did. These children were being raised in a strict enviornment. They were not exposed to even our rather disgusting television, much less interntet porn or anything we are bombarded with in our promiscuious society. Hell, they use sex to sell chewing gum these days. These children are NOT prepared for what they are now going threw. What are those foster homes exposing the kids to? You know having to find that many foster homes on short notice that there is a good possibility that some real threat to these kids actually do exisit, far worse than what they may of been exposed to at home. I don't like the fact that they took all those children on an ANNONOMOUS tip, and now they can't even produce the tipster. They took ALL the kids. Everyone's guilty and having to prove they are innocent. They are also forcing DNA testing, and lots of other things that really bother me. Since I long ago stopped trusting what the media reports, this whole nasty situation really bothers me.
  10. If you had a checking account the routing number would be the first of the series of numbers across the bottom of one of your checks. There is a big long string of numbers across the bottom of all checks, the first number is the routing number, the second is your account number and the last number is your check number. But with a savings account you may need to call the bank and ask them for their routing number.
  11. Welcome to Xisto Max!The only thing I heard the news media mentioning about the running of the torch is how in some areas, there were protesters, along some of the routes. Very little else was mentioned, which I find rather sad, as it is a time honered tradition and of some interest, but the media only chose to give it a cursory mention. Very little footage of the actual running, and really not much background info as to why it was being protested. I had to ask hubby why they were even protesting in the first place. I don't watch a lot of news, find it too depressing.
  12. Well, I am not much of a web site guru, you can take a peak at the one I made, using Front Page and the graphics were done in a resonably simple program, Photo Draw. Nothing fancy, but makes puppy pictures easy to fix up and look good. As far as media hype, DEFINATLY state your opinions there. If you don't who will? Pits are getting a terrible rap from the media, if you can present them as lovable family dogs, show lots of pictures of kids and pits, do it! They need all the help they can get.
  13. If you can't import eggs, first off you will need to find a local sourse for them. I'm not sure fertile eggs would respond well to importation anyway, as they would have specific handling requirnments which may be difficult in transportation. And since most commercial egg producers raise eggs for consumption, they do not want fertile eggs to sell for eating. And adding a rooster to the flocks would increase costs of egg production, as it would be feeding an extra non egg producing mouth. It may be difficult to find even a local sourse, unless you used small back yar producers, in which case your supplys would be unstable and possibly not of good quality. (hatching eggs take special care in their handling) Would it be possible to have your own flock, or find a partner who would be willing to take on that part of the opperation?
  14. The most thought gifts are just that.....thoughful. The reciever of your gift will feel so much better about it if you do put a lot of thought into the selection. What does she like? What is her favorite color? What does she enjoy doing? Does she have any desires or favorite things? Hobbies? Some people are extremely practical, and while they would like to have certain items, they can't bring themselves to buy it, so if you have a friend like that, it makes it easier. Others like frivolous things. So much depends on the personality of the person you are getting a gift for.
  15. Maybe it was an END table??? LOLOLOLOLThat's just so dumb. (not my smart remark, doing a table) Humans are so warped.
  16. Oh boy, am I familiar with that one! I could be wrong, but I would guess that the improvement in speaking comes from the added confidence they would get from riding. Have you ever noticed shy people, how they hang out at the edges of a crowd and don't say much? It's not that they can't speek, it's just that they are too shy to open their mouths. Maintaining a horse is expensive, but purchasing one sure isn't anymore. Recently passed horse slaughter laws have absolutly destroyed the horse market. I know some folks that took some of their horsed to an acution recently and could not get at $15 bid on an older Arabian mare.

    My Dog

Welcome to Xisto BobbyBans. Cute dog! My friend had Dals and though I never had any, I was around her's alot. They are generally pretty good dogs, but there are quite a few of them that have rather peevish dispositions. Some are downright cantankerous. They don't have as much bite inhibition with humans as many dogs do. Since they were originated to clear the roadways of bystanders when the horse drawn fire trucks had to run down the road, it stands to reason that they would want to get people moving out of the way by whatever means nessesary. Of course, I never really understoood why you would be more inclined to get out of the way of a dog running at you then you would a team of horses thundering down on you, but what do I know, lol.
  18. I have used Stat counter on my site for several years now, really like it. Of course, it's free too, and easy to install, and you don't get tons of junk email from them trying to get you to buy other stuff.
  19. LOL, your only 15! Old age is going to hit you like a cold hard smack in the face if you are fortunate enough to live that long. It does that when you have been so healthy for so long, and then it seems like all of a sudden all of your body parts start to fail you. And believe me, it will! My advice is to take care of your self now, especially since you are lucky enough to have a good healthy body to start with. Don't do a lot of stupid things to damage it and eat right and stay fit.
  20. Oh, yes, horseback riding is extremely therapeutic especially for children with either physical or mental handicaps. Imagine children who cannot even walk on their own and have to be lifted in and out of their wheelchairs, beds, any and every where they want to go to have the oppertunity to feel the tremendous strength of the animal they are riding/controling. Even as a strong, healthy human, I can attest to the ego boost of jumping a straddle of an animal 10 times your size and being able to maintain control of that animal. There is no other feeling quite like it. For children that are emotionally scared and unsure of themselves, the power of riding can be one of the most effective ego boosts that there are. It's really a completely different thing than the warm, friendly, fuzzy feeling and the unconditional love one gets from a small animal pet. (which of course, is also very good) This is like a triple expresso power drink the early morning fuzzy headed dreamer gets.
  21. Hummm..... have to do some thinking on that one. First off, I live in redneck country, so turning into a critter of some sort would probably just get me shot. Telepathy, well, I'm crazy enough dealing with my own thoughts, don't think I want to hear anybody elses!Healing others would be a great service to humanity, but once the word got out, you would never have a moments peace with everybody wanting you to fix their loved ones. Flying sounds good, but I think I'm going to go with the Cheerleader in Hero's, to be able to heal back from anything and still look so stinking cute,
  22. What a great place to do volunteer work! You are lucky to live near such a place and have that oppertunity. I'm not much on volunteer work, always seems like there is not enough hours in the day to take care of my own personal problems, but if there was a place like that in our area, I think I would be there. It has got to be very rewarding, helping people and being around animals at the same time. I have seen a lot of TV coverage of the near miricals that horseback riding does for handicapped children. It would be ausome to be a part of something like that.
  23. Glad to hear things are working out for you. A well trained dog is an absolute joy to own. Of course, I've seen some bratty dogs that I know their owers were pretty crazy about too, but give me the choise and I'll take a well trained one any day. My sister in law had a little mix breed dog that suffered from cronic dry eye, and it would bite her ever time she tried to put drops in her eyes which she had to do every day. I don't know how she put up with it, but she just loved that little dog to pieces. Dogs are just good company.
  24. I am just not into car washing at all. Once in a rare great while, I use the high preasure hose we use to wash down the kennel with if the car gets really really muddy. I think I washed the car once last year, at the beginning of swap meet season.
  25. Ford here too. But it's an old battered, beat up farm truck. Actually has to work for a living. We haul wood in it, pull a 16 ft trailer with whatever we can pile on the trailer, you name it, the old truck pulls it.
