Because of this, I'm not 100% sure of my current career, engineering. I'm inclined to choose Civil Engineering, but Architecture is something I think of lot. I'm not very fond of Calculus, but I love geometry, so it's possible that (someday?) I leave it and go after something art-related. @Jeigh: I'll start buying some recycled paper for new drawings. I really did like the texture of it and how it behaves with the graphite. If you did like the digital version of this one, you'd be amazed with the paper version. @Pharoah: Hahahha more or less out of the blue. I was thinking about an eagle-like helmet, somehow like Egyptian gods' ones, but I couldn't leave horns out hehehe... I like putting then into helmets. It was nice to remember this. I had it activated a long time ago (different from Quatrux, I used to share a long time ago the computer with some... 'careless' dumb people). Then I recently had an HD crash, and run some important registry backups, one of them having this option turned on. Lately I was quite annoyed by the time it was taking to shutdown for some time (since it starts up damn quick, after all it's an almost clean install), and couldn't realize what was happening... Now I just disabled it, since nobody uses this computer anymore, besides me. Thanks (even if it did help backwards hehe)!

Something I came up with during a Calculus for Engineering class, in a piece of recycled paper (which I found kind of nice to work with, mainly in this specific drawing). Basically, the name has no scientific or historical reason, it was chosen at the time the drawing was created, because my first purpose was doing something like this, but my creativity didn't allow me to do so. So please don't come saying that eagles aren't Mayan, etc. etc... I know all that. Criticism is very encouraged (either on DA or here).

Big white space below title is begging "Subtitle!". =pPretty nice work using paint! Tough I think you should smooth it a little using an 1px dark gray pencil next to the 'curves' or 'diagonal' parts of the tree, making it no so jaggy. And man, if you can do this with Paint Brush, you can do wonders on Photoshop or Illustrator. Give them a try!

Your logo right now is suffering from a 'black hole syndrome'. You should scale down the black part to some value between 70-80% of the current size, also add some kind of border maybe... This way the 'weight' of graphics is better well distributed throughout the picture.

I just found the FTP file transfer damn fast. Didn't try File Manager yet, but I don't think (in case it is really faster than FTP) the speed gain is worth the work of having to manually browse for files, upload them, etc.Using FireZilla I just dragged future uploaded files and folders (it would take years to do this to all Wordpress stuff), minimized the window and left it to do something else. And the time I watched transfers, they happen in a nice speed. I'll give a shot on file manager later, for single files.

In my opinion:First one is great. Good font and color choice. Take out animation and Bevels and you're done, and well done.About the second one I mostly agree with everybody else who commented up until now, so there isn't much to add.

To me it's usually a very random process when I'm doing work for pleasure or basically to myself. I just have a theme in mind, then I try to think for a couple minutes when doing something else (like paying a visit to the fridge, for example) about it, and then go back to the computer and see what comes up. When I'm doing a job for someone, and am not given full creative freedom, it's different. I usually prefer to draw very rough sketches and see which one pleases me most while still is under guidelines give to me. Getting as much info as possible from your client is also pretty important. In the end I come up with 2 to 4 final solutions, being one of them a bit more free from the guidelines, mostly done in my way. Other ones are usually done closer to client's suggestions/instructions. Anyway, after all, often the client ends up by choosing 'my' design as his, because probably I can create better stuff with weaker bounds, and because it's something he didn't thought about yet, basically a new vision of the theme.

The same thing was happening to Motorola's cell phone batteries, wasn't it? I remember reading this somewhere, that some people have experienced talking on the cell phone and suddenly it's battery exploded, harming the user and people around. I'm not sure about the explosion's power, but must be reasonable, to even damage surrounding people. Also we must consider that having something exploding close to your ear can't be any pleasant.Anyway I'm not sure what the heck are engineers doing to these Lithium Ion batteries, but it surely can be unstable if done wrong (I don't believe these were caused by any kind of misuse). Thanks to god I'm more into Nokia and Siemens phones, that Dell computers are quite expensive here in Brazil. =p

A hundred credits is more than enough to 'build up'. But I suppose usually people get more credits than 'spend' on hosting, when posting normally, so it shouldn't be a problem to you guys. Imagine that is isn't that hard to post at least 5 small sized posts a week. A backup is only useful in case you suddenly have Internet connection problems, let's say, and cannot post for some time, or have access to another computer to do so.By the way austiniskoge, what does the hits on your website have to do with your credit amount?

I guess the owner must be using a 10Gb Hard Drive to host these sites... and he's hoping to buy a new system soon and provide his costumers tons of storage space and new features. It's one of the few possible explanations for this 'joke'. Ok, it's a stupid one, but still...

I currently use Windowblinds 5, and it actually speeds up system performance and UI drawing (Microsoft's Theme engine is very poorly designed, believe me). So not everything comes for eating system CPU and RAM. I'd suggest Flyakite 3.0 for a quick Mac OS X emulation setup though still using Microsoft's theming engine. Some other useful links to customization (some mainly to MacOS-like customs) are: GUIStyles Aqua-Soft Interfacelift Customize.org Stardock For years I've been skinning my system to look and/or work like a Mac, but always keeping an eye on system load. Currently WB5 is the best call, though it's shareware... In these links you'll be able to find many and many useful (or eye-candy) programs and skins. I don't know of any of these I'm suggest who come with spy or adware, since they're commonly developed by the modding community itself. It's damn heavy and slow, has almost no customization support, bad file transfer support, doesn't have plugin support, is pretty much affected by Trojans, no encryption support, poor and slow history engine, tons of ads, what else? Some issues can be addressed with hacks and 3rd party programs, but I suppose this shouldn't count. Good things about it are ease of use of features and quick setup, what's a must to the common home user. But it's way too limited on it's capabilities. If it only could support skins and plugins, it would be quite better. I don't think it's worth the headache, though opinions may (and should) differ from user to user.

Yeah I'm using Winamp 5.2 right now for music, and Windows Media Player 10 for videos in general. I don't like much iTunes or Quicktime since they're too heavy... And I'm used to keep Winamp sound playback for hours and hours, while running Photoshop, Firefox, even some games, etc. That's why I was looking for a lightweight player. =p And hehehe these MP3 files are there for a lifetime. Anyway I'll give a shot on Foobar 2000 and VLC to see how do they work here. Nice to see you guys use a big variety of programs... I'd like also recommend Media Player Classic (it's no Microsoft's one, at least not original). Light and pretty good on CODECs (mainly for video). I suppose it's a hacked Windows Media player version 7 with enhanced stuff.

It's just that it isn't very common in these cases to sue the chair's maker for it... =p Also, nail manufacturers would have quite a headache.

Well, I hope you're being sarcastic.If you're not, you and your friends are like 6 or 8 years late on this idea... It's been done over and over again, exactly the way you describe it. Not that it would not work, or we wouldn't see these nowadays...Still...

This battle depends highly upon how do you use it, but not in a simple way. I made an extensive research some time ago to buy my brother a new video card, and discovered some interesting things. I'll divide this into some 'sections' I find important. Long run compatibility / driver support: N-Vidia's top edge video cards, from their release to like maybe 2 years later are well supported with drivers and optimization. After this period, they usually 'forget' the older cards. This might be a problem if, like me, you don't have much money and/or can't buy new PCI-E video cards due to motherboard compatibility (and no money to buy a new one, of course). BUT nowadays NVidia is being tricky and supporting many game makers, and so optimizing games (World of Warcraft, for example) for being run in their cards, what can be nice in the future. On the other hand, ATI's video cards are widely supported and optimized even 3 or 4 years after their release. Sure they're not as important to the developers, but still you get a longer lifetime. Myself used to have an ATI Rage Pro (8Mb on-board card, insanely old), and it did run even Warcraft 3 quite well, tough in 1024x768 it had a little lag after some time. Short run / Teh r0XX0rz video card: For bleeding-edge new video cards, it will depend on what's happening on the screen, and what are you looking for on it . Basically nowadays, ATI has the most powerful hardware for single-card solutions, but their drivers are not as mature as NVidia's, which end up by having more trustworthy drivers and better technology. For multi-card solutions, NVidia has a big advantage here, since SLI nowadays can beat Crossfire easily, mainly because of not-so-good ATI drivers. But this can be worked on the future, so let's not take immediate conclusions. One curious thing I found out, is that playing games in resolutions smaller than (roughly) 1280x960, ATI has advantage. From (roughly) this resolution on, NVidia beats ATI as easily as bigger the number of pixels on the screen. My conclusions: If you have plenty money, NVidia's SLI multi-card solution is currently the best deal. For single-card, I'd go ATI for mainly performance, and NVidia for 'quality', let's say. For mid-level cards, I think it's a draw. Both brands have their equivalent cards, and it's up to you to find out what's best to fulfill your needs. For low-end, I'd go ATI all the way. You must keep in mind that usually ATI drivers develop more slowly, but have better long-run support. NVidia has better drivers nowadays, tough not as much powerful hardware. If ATI overcomes these driver issues, Crossfire could beat SLI, and probably would be more of a deal. But if you *really* has to play games at 2048x1536, and has enough money to support this need, NVidia would be a better choice. I hope this can help people. Just don't trust my judgment 100% and come here later telling that X didn't do Y with Z card's drivers... As you can see, research is always the best thing to do before buying anything. [edit] By the way, anyone willing to donate an old regular PCI card is pretty much welcome. =) I can't stand this GF2 anymore... Old stuff here, you see...

It seems it was a RAM issue after all. I suppose it had bad latency times, and therefore wasn't synchronizing well with other computer parts. I'm now like 2 days with it working the whole day, non-stop. Thanks for the help people, I guess this one is solved!
