  1. Ahh, another runner! I'm also a runner! I run long distance though, so I'm not great at sprints. My fastest 100m is 12 :oI start to get faster once you get to 400m and up. My best 400m is 57s. I'm going to the district championship for the 600m. However, my favorite events are the Mile and the 1000m.Hey, keep me posted on your results, I want to know how you are doing.
  2. Hello Jester, how are you doing? You want to make a Browser Based game, huh? Good luck, I'm sure it will be as much fun to make as it will be to play! However, you'll need more than just PHP! To make a good Browser Based game (without flash, flash is expensive ) it would be a good idea for you to learn PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Luckily for you, all of these are supported on Xisto's hosting! Now, the best way I would recommend to you to start learning these technologies would be to head on over to http://www.w3schools.com/ Over there they have plenty of tutorials and examples to help you get started. Eventually, however, you'll reach a point where the best way to get better will be to practice, practice, practice!Once you've gotten started, head over to the Game Development Lab section of the forums, looking forward to seeing you there!
  3. Ahh, thanks lot. It looks like it's working just fine now. I'll let you know if I ever need any more
  4. @Wyatt: For now, I am not releasing any individual scripts, sorry.@Kain: Well, the starter kit will be completely free to use, however what i splanned now is a splash screen will be required at the startup of your game saying something like "Made with DeM0nFiRe's pokemon Starterkit" Other than that, I plan on imposiing no restrictions.@Chris: Sorry, I only work with RMXP. Theoretically a pokemon game could be done in RM2k/3 through event scripting.
  5. Hello, I am trying to add an email account, but I'm having problems. When I go into my Cpanel and attempt to add an email account I get a message similar to "the account you are trying to create, You have exceeded the maximum number of email accounts, with the password password has been created successfully" And, of course, no email account is created. I know I am not approaching any of my limits (Especially not on email accounts, since it's unlimited) so I'm getting a bit confused. It may also be worth knowing that I have added email accounts in the past that have sent and recieved mail just fine. I'm just having problems creating an email account now.
  6. For online games, a nice little site I'd recommend is ijji.com They have several free MMOGs and they add another one every few months or so. The games they have that I've played so far are:Gunz: A a deathmatch style game with a touch of Matrix. Buy weapons, armor, grenades, rings and more for your player to boost your stats and increase damage. If you're not a fan of using a gun, just o ahead and use a sword or dagger. if you don't want guns even seen in your game, just play the Gladiator or Team Gladiator modes. your stats and the stats of your clan (built-in clan system) are tracked as you fight and level up.Soldier Front: This game is very similar to Counterstrike with some modifications. In SF, your fights help you rank up and gain SP (the currency in SF) The weapons you by in this game are yours to keep through multiple rounds, however as you use your weapons you must repair them to keep them from losing accuracy. They have several other games like Drift City, Gunbound and a few others I have not played yet. For you MMORPG fans, one such game has recently been opened at Ijji
  7. I've been using CoreFTP, it's a pretty nice one. There's a free one and a paid one, so naturally I just use the free version
  8. Hey there, and welcome to Xisto. If you need to know anything about how credits work and how to get them, I'd recommend taking a look at these: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/32481-the-matter-of-hosting-credits-got-a-question-find-the-answers/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/6147-posting-activity-rule-automated-hosting-script-know-about-how-this-system-works/
  9. TORCS is definitely a game worth taking a look at if you like racing games. It's most likely not for you die-hard nascar fans, because it is not a simulator in that sense. You will not get behind the wheel as a familiar driver. That is, unless, you change that. TORCS is Open Source, so if you can program, you can edit the game to do what you want it to do. The graphics are not the prettiest, but they aren't completely awful either, so the gameplay is unaffected by that. The game comes with quite a few tracks and cars too choose fro, standard, plus there are a few map packs and car packs to download. In addition, a Track Editor comes with the game's Download (although track editing is more complicated than in some other games) I'll try to keep you guys updated with more information on teh game as I get more familiar with it myself Take a look at the game here: http://torcs.sourceforge.net/
  10. Yeah, there's always people around to help you here. Also, if you're having a problem with your hosting, some of the times you don't even have to wait for a response since a lot of the common problems are in the various readmes posted around the forums. I would recommend you getting to know those very well
  11. Hey wow, that sounds pretty cool. Now, I've not tried to make a post as a geust myself, but do you have things like Captcha Image Verification and such things to limit spam and to stop bots?
  12. I personally use phpBB3 for forums. there's a version of phpBB in fantastico, but it's only phpBB2 I believe that is in it.Everything else I want to out on my site, I just make it myself
  13. My computer's really not very good for gaming, I need to upgrade some stuff soon :)Proc: Intel Pentium 4 - 2.6GhzRam: 768MBVideo: Intel Integrated 850 - 48MBInternal HDD: 80GBExternal HDD: 320GB Western Digital ElementsOS: Xubuntu (arrgh)
  14. Hmm, I'll have to take a closer look at those too. I've heard of vbGore, but I haven't really looked into it much. (Maybe because I haven't looked into VB much? XD) I've never heard of AlterWorld, but sadly I do not speak Spanish either. I geuss I'll just have to pass on that one.
  15. Hello there Imtay, how are you doing? Since you've been here before I suppose you don't need the lecture about following the rules, huh?
  16. Well, what I'm saying is that the features you listed wouldn't work too well in one single game unless you come up with a brilliant storyline.
  17. So, did you describe multiple games in your original post? Because it looks like it's one really mixed up game XD
  18. I'm really sorry to hear how your experience has been. I am fortunate enough to be able to say my experience has been alot different. My freshman year, I was really bad at running when I started Cross-Country. My first race I was dead last with a time of about 40 minutes. No one made me stop running or anything, and although my coach for Freshman and Sophmore year in Cross country wasn't very good, I was able to push myself to get down to 26 minutes that season. When Track Started, I had planned to do sprints, but my coach encouraged me to continue with distance. I ran my first ever mile in 6 minutes, and 29 seconds my freshman year. I just kept pushing myself and pushing myself so now, in my Junior Year, I'm the Third best on the second place cross country team in my city. I am the second best runner on my Track team, and myself and the number one runner usually amount to about Half of the points the entire team scores. My 5k time is at aroun 18 minutes, and my Mile time is just above 5 minutes.
  19. Sony is horrible, don't use them as an example. Video Games actually help more than they hurt if used responsibly. They develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, hand-eye coordination. More than that, think of what they do for the creators. Video Games are a great way for alot of people to express themselves, influence people, excercise their creativity. It creates jobs, and they create dreams. Think of how many people aspire to become game developers!
  20. 'Ey, I said Just about :)It's just easier to think in 2d than it is to think in 3D.
  21. I believe you are talking about a hydrogen powered nuclear reaction. This is done through a very different process, burning hydrogen as feul would not produce such a result.
  22. I can see my own site fine, but several members cannot. Has there been any change in server software or something? I know of other cases where hosts had a server software that made it so certain people could not see pages.
  23. Well, I'm sure you see now how just about everyone who posted here has one thing in common. They all started with 2D games. That is probably going to be your best bet so you can learn more about game design before you shoot for 3D.
  24. Happy (belated) Holidays everyone! I hope everyone has started out the new year on a good foot ^-^
  25. Yeah, I'm starting to try some 3D modelling with blender myself. If I can get any good at that, I'll probably also look at game-blender. Both are definitely at least worth a look, considering they're free.
