  1. This is a cool list in here. Incase you guys wanted something that's offline - here's Chemax @ http://www.cheatsmaximal.net/eng/ . It's a downloadable, browsable db of cheat for over 4000 games..
  2. Quite true almoo.. I myself faced one whole year of really grinding time with the thai ppl here..till I managed to learn some basic thai.. before that - oh my god, don't even get me started on it.. I'll post some of my experiences during those years - would surely make up for some good laugh...Even now where my thai skills fail - I just fall back to the worst form of broken english ever and try use as much of body language as possible - that gets the message through at times.. Usually, "I go, you go, I no go, Have, No Have"..lol.. these are the phrases that keep you going ... anything beyond that will be met with a complete blank look of incomprehension...
  3. Don't you get bored by the standard windows buttons ?? That was one of the primary reasons I took the pain to convert this code from C#... But it's not just limited to aqua buttons - if you modify the image files, and a little bit of the code - you can infact put ANY shape/size/color of buttons in your appz. That's the cool part about this code.. I'll try posting a small followup on howto do it. Believe me, it can completely change the look of your app
  4. I don't know if that putting in your own name part works or not.. but here's what I found on WinGuide.Com about putting your username & Computer name on the desktop. Also there's a method of displaying the windows version on the desktop too. I'm pasting them here for quick reference... Show User and Computer Name on Desktop Show Windows Version on Desktop Cheers
  5. errr.. acpi and windows ?? you're heading the wrong way buddy acpi doesnt go hand in hand with windows ... naah am just kidding - check out these links. Might help, even though I never bothered about acpi on windows. You are so limited in windows that I don't really feel like configuring stuff.. there's hardly anything you can configure from ground up anyways.. I feel so spoonfed on windows that its not even funny.. Links: 1. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 2. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 3. http://www.techadvice.com/win2000/a/acpi_w2k.htm 4. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ All the best
  6. And where do you find it ?? The link would be really helpful.. ;)As also any other links to MMORPG's that you know of .....Thanks
  7. Norton is $hit... It's fallen out of grace completely and most of the time it cannot catch some of the most harmful viruses/worms.. check out http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ .. and for a short report on the good ones, see: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/7612-a-good-offline-antivirus-recommend-me-some/
  8. Everyone has a different opinion about their AV of choice. I've tried hundreds of them including a very good freeware named AVG Antivirus. Google for it and you'll find the download link. It's quite decent and catches most of the stuff - but just not good enough for me. After trying almost all of them out there in the market - I've decided to settle down for BitDefender Pro 8 Plus - a damned good one. The suite includes a pretty good firewall & antispam module too. Plus their auto update feature is really nifty - resumes broken updates without a hitch - which was a big problem with NortonAV. They even have a freeware virus eliminator for Linux called LinuxDefender. The paid version for Windows isn't expensive either - $29. Antivirus is something that I don't feel like compromising with and so I went ahead and got myself the paid copy of this - and I haven't been disappointed in any way. I'm online almost 24/7 and get flooded with viruses & worms - and this one has caught every single one of them. I haven't been infected in any way over past 5 months.. I highly recommend this one.. Get the trial version and give it a try: http://www.bitdefender.de/ If you want a nice comparative review of the features available in all the leading anti-virus software, check out this site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - Go through this and am sure it'll help you make your mind up which one to go for... All the best
  9. Guys, Since there's so much of talk about DreamWeaver - I got my hands on the eBook titled "DreamWeaver MX 2004 BIBLE" by Joseph W. Lowery published by Wiley Publishing. I can try put it up on a place from where you guys can grab it - only if I receive a lot of responses to this post. It's huge - 34.5 Meg !!! So it'll be a big pain for me to put it up - besides I lost the link to the original download site.. Chapter overview:-----------------------Chapters 1-5: Dreamweaver BasicChapters 6-10: Web Design & Layout FundamentalsChapters 11-17: Advanced Design Tools & TechniquesChapters 18-22: Incorporating Dynamic DataChapters 23-26: Adding Multimedia ElementsChapters 27-31: Enhancing Website Management & WorkflowChapters 32-35: Extending Dreamweaver-----------------------
  10. Goddamnit qwiji couldn't you have informed a little earlier..lol.. now I'm hoping that my shipment gets detained somehow and I get the next version shipped.. Keeping my fingers crossed...lol
  11. Thanks for the tip - I didn't know that one. I was going for a much longer process of my own..lol.. achieved kind of the same effect though.. but this is much simpler and as they say, "short & sweet"
  12. There's Project Entropia - a massive MMORPG @ http://www.entropiauniverse.com/ - it's free and you can earn some real money too.. also you can invest real money in the game and convert them into the game currency for use in the game.. Playing is free Then.. there's Kings Of Chaos - a turn based strategy game at : http://www.kingsofchaos.com/ There' this other very good RPG called Faith at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Umm.. check out these too - two games called Utopia and Earth at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ RuneScape can be found at: http://www.runescape.com/ Illumia RPG at: http://www.illumia-rpg.com/ MMORPG List/Directory: http://www.onrpg.com/ Another directory of online games: http://www.gameogre.com/onlinerpgs.htm There are millions more out there .. Do some googling on "Free MMORPG" and you'll get thousand of links..
  13. Try reading the reviews at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - they might lead you to the right direction. Otherwise I think you should go for one among Mandrake, Gentoo, Ubuntu, SuSe & KNOPPIX - they're the one's which are deemed more user friendly and geared towards new users.. There might be some other distros too but am not so sure.. I'm happy with Fedora Core and Redhat Enterprise.. never even take a second look at the other distros ..
  14. What I fail to understand is how can MS get patents on stuff like sudo and isnot - when they didn't even comeup with them in the first place and never use them in any way on its OS/Dev Platform.. And as you said IsNot is just a variation of != and does the same basic operation..And this OP has existed almost since the beginning days of C - far far earlier than MS came up with any Development Products.. How can they claim patent on something that's not even their own invention.. How on earth - or who on earth can be stupid enough to grant their patents ??????? Are there only dumb f***s sitting up in the patent office ?? People who can't see anything but all that $$$$ that MS very conveniently swings in front of their eyes.. To hell with software patents.. I've signed up for that Anti- Software Patent Movement in Europe.. and am supporting is to the fullest extent. If this is the way it goes - I'm going to design my own language and take all the features from every other language, modify the keywords by one letter here and there and file for a mass patent..lol.. in fact that way the whole world will be filing for patents.. urrghh.. what a Mega IDIOT - this time MS has gone really far to prove it's idiocy. This reminds me of an attempt that US made around 3-4 years back to make a patent on a particular variety of real high quality long-grained rice with a beautiful smell/flavour that has been growing in the Indian subcontinent and pakistan since time unknown.. It's called Basmati Rice Infact we, pakistan & bangladesh were the only exporters of this rice till recentlycoz it wouldn't grow on anywhere on earth. All of a sudden US comes up with this genetically modified breed of rice which is 99.99% similar to Basmati and claims it to be their own !!! It wasn't even a genetic hybrid in all probablity - they just tried mixing our basmati with some other variety and tried to get that patent - even on the NAME... There was a long drawn international court case - till they were forced to rename it to Jasmati I think - they claimed it was a hybrid of our Basmati and the Thai jasmine rice..hence jasmati..lol.. Anyways, my whole point is do you see any similarities between these events ???
  15. Whooaaa... is that true.. That's nasty man.. I do indeed see big brother taking shape.. Am off to read those articles
  16. This deals mostly with php scripting of counters. So moved to Programming > Scripting---------m^e
  17. Yups I agree to that - console access allows you to deal with problems much faster - and you get a good dose of the real HANDS-ON MySQL.. You cannot learn something through a GUI - if you REALLY WANT TO LEARN. In the end the gui will bend you down on your knees and make you go running back to the console.. Nothing like the console... Long live the console.... and linux (there, I did it again..lol)
  18. Ok.. you guys - if you want a comparative review of all the antivirus software, goto: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ --> That's what I follow to get my AV.. Currently using BitDefender Pro 8 Plus which is right at top of that list... Excellent stuff I must say, AntiVirus, Personal Firewall, Anti-Spam - all thrown into one neatly integrated package. And it really is as good as they claim it to be.. The manual scanning is a little slower but very thorough. Since I'm online 24/7 almost - I get flooded with thousands of worms & viruses - and this one caught EVERY SINGLE ONE of them - NONE came through.. Am very very happy with it. Give it a try @ http://www.bitdefender.de/ - but first go to that review site above and see the comparision among the ones in the market presently..
  19. I don't know much about free ones.. but there's a very good paid one which I use at times... Its called Tigra Menu Builder and you can get it at: http://www.softcomplex.com/products/tigra_menu/ Another excellent one is AllWebMenus - you can design hundreds of different kind of menus including floating nav bars on left/right/top, treeview menus, slideout/popup menus... anything you care to imagine. Get it at: http://www.likno.com/ ----------------------------------------------------- This is a question and in the wrong forum. The What Is? forum is more oriented towards sharing some new fact that you learned today. Moved to WebDesign section... m^e
  20. I think H stand for Hyperlink. SO <href> would be HyperLink Reference.. Correct me if I'm wrong. Another good tutorial.
  21. hahahaa... in one word, terrific, herbert that the best deviation i've seen in recent times...lol
  22. Yups quite possible... There are several attributes of marquee that you can specify to make it behave whatever way you want (of course within it's own limits).. But note that most of these special attributes work only with IE engine based browsers. Here are some examples: 1. Direction Normally it would always go from left to right (not right to left).. To make it go from left to right use this syntax: <marquee direction="right">YourText</marquee> Also you can make it go up and down...and put in several lines of text using <br> Note this won't work on anything less than IE 5.x <marquee direction="up" height="x"> YourText<br> YourText2<br> </marquee> 2. Alternating direction - first left to right and then right to left in an endless cycle <marquee behavior="alternate">YourText</marquee> 3. Background color This will change the back color of the band in which the marquee slides <marquee bgcolor="#ffffee">YourText</marquee> 4. Width of the scrollpane - you can limit the marquee to scroll only within a certain area. <marquee width="200">YourText</marquee> 5. Slide behaviour - if set to slide it will slide in only once and stop, i.e. the loop happens only once <marquee behavior="slide">YourText</marquee> 6. Delay of the scroll effect - detrmines the intermittent pause as the marquee slides down. The delay is in milliseconds. Incresing it will slow the marquee down - similarly reducing will pace it up <marquee scrolldelay="200">YourText</marquee> 7. Scroll Amount - this determines how many pixels the marquee skips as it slides on at every step. <marquee scrollamount="30">YourText</marquee> 8. Finally, if you make the page ONLY for IE - then you can even make pictures scroll in/out using the marquee tags. Note this won't work on anything less than IE 5.x <marquee><img src="mypicture.gif" width="x" height="y" alt="mypicture"></marquee> Hope this will help you along the way...
  23. Tripwire could in a way act as an excellent intrusion detection system too - except that I could never configure it properly... I'd tried a lot few years back (was far less experienced with linux then) and gave up.. Thanks for reminding me - gotta try again.. Why don't you come up with a tutorial qwiji ??? Would be much appreciated, esp. by me
  24. Didn't you read my post above.. I HATE YAHOO!!!!! with all my heart and soul.. They are one of those prime examples of domain squater.. In fact they are even worse - since they DO IT TO THEIR OWN PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS... Read my sad story above, again, and you'll know why...
