  1. Hey, I found a lot of links pertaining to this topic. It seems that indeed laptops are a big risk to your testicles. It is a widely known fact that too much of heat or pressure can destroy your sperm cells and cause a drastic reduction in the sperm count. That in itself is synonymous with impotency. This is why it is unadvisable to wear tight undergarments. Doctors always suggest the ones commonly known as "boxers" - because of their loose getup allowing your testicles to breathe freely . Anyways, here are the links: 1. http://ww1.4-men.org/sperm/laptops-and-sperm.html 2. http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/ 3. https://cloud.socs.uoguelph.ca/laptop_dangers.htm 4. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1297406/posts 5. http://arstechnica.com/science/2004/12/science-20041213/ 6. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 7. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 8. 2. Hats off to dreamweaver Its simply the best. Frontpage still has lots of limitations. The way dreamweaver integrates all the different web-design scripting languages and html with actual visual design, is amazing.. I say nothing can beat it... Combine with that the other Macromedia packages (Flash, Fireworks, Freehand etc.) - what more do you need ?? Except maybe Photoshop at times...
  3. Hi all I just came to know about this really cool religion called Wicca from one of the member's post. This religion sounds really cool & I'd never heard of it before - so my curiosity is highly piqued...
  4. MP4 isn't a protected format of Apple. It was developed by the same group (MPEG - Motion Picture Experts Group). 5. Gmail's cool but I use another paid service called RunBox. 1-2GB Email & File storage, separate file upload area, WAP enabled lite & fast loading pages, immensely good uptime and very very fast... The interface is one of the best ever and barring Gmail - the easiest to navigate. I realy don't mind paying around $25 a year for their service. At least I know all my important emails will reach safe & sound
  6. Thanks serverph.. You got some cool avatar .. BTW I forgot to mention about another pretty useless BBCode - the Horizontal Rule. Once again, similar to HTML HR tag, this one inserts a page break line - to neatly divide your content into multiple horizontal sections. This one, takes options like "noshade" or null option - and draws the line accordingly. The "noshade" option makes the line thick and solid and devoid of the standard 3D Shading. Here's another line followed by a "noshade"-ed line. [hr=noshade][/hr]This is the last line of text !
  7. Yaah I surely do - I've mailed myself so many form feedback in this ultra uncouth way Here it goes: <form action="mailto:you@youremail.com" method="post">
  8. Thanks Here's another (pretty useless one) - unless you want to impress someone with some scrolling text... lol.. It's the BBCode implementation of our good old HTML <MARQUEE> tag. This one takes left & right as options (for now) and scrolls texts accordingly. I've limited the text scroll area width - as it was expanding in a very undesirable way and distorting the page. But I haven't specified any height params, so you can put in as many lines of text as you want and the box will expand to fit it in. Keep in mind that this one takes a little time to start off - I mean the scroll action wouldn't start till the whole page load is completed. Examples: [MARQUEE=right]Left to Right Scrolling Text[/MARQUEE] [MARQUEE=left] Right to Left Scrolling Text. With multiple lines of text. I quite like this one [/MARQUEE]
  9. Lol.. hold on dude.. There's plenty more to come. Out of the three I put in today, only ONE is not for use by all - for the rest you dont even have to pay a single penny .. Besides that NOTE thing isn't even worth cribbing about. I'll try get in more of such cool one's that you wouldn't even bother touching that NOTE thingy... Have fun !
  10. HI all, I'm in the process of introducing a couple of new BBCodes to help us make better posts and make parts of the content stand out. Two such new BBCodes are CONSOLE and NOTE. Out of these, the NOTE BBCode is for use of the Mods & Admins only. Anybody else found using them in their posts will be penalized suitably. 1. CONSOLE This code is to be used for displaying console input/output in your posts. The text to be shown has to be enclosed within a matching pair of [ CONSOLE ] [ /CONSOLE ] tags. Example: CONSOLE [root@getafix root]# ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0D:88:39:D2:69 inet addr:10.19.168.5 Bcast:10.19.168.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::20d:88ff:fe39:d269/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:6587 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:12936 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:1650710 (1.5 Mb) TX bytes:2043205 (1.9 Mb) Interrupt:225 Base address:0xb800 2. NOTE This BBCode is to be used by the Mods & Admins ONLY. This will make your instructions (when you edit posts) stand out way better. An example: Notice from microscopic^earthling: Posted in wrong section. Topic moved. This code takes your username as an option and dispays it in the header. Thus the format would be, [ NOTE = YourUserName ] Notice Text [ / NOTE ] . Don't include the SPACES that I've put after the [] brackets - that's just to demonstrate the code. Just now I finished implementing yet a third BBCode - HIGHLIGHT 3. HIGHLIGHT This will help you highlight certain parts of your post with a desired color. The highlight color is passed on as an option to the BBCode. Format: [ HIGHLIGHT = color ] YourText [ / HIGHLIGHT ]. This would give an output like" This is Yellow Highlighted Text These are for a starter - more to come. If you have any suggestions for cool BBCodes, don't hesitate to post/add-in to this topic and I'll add them to the board after reviewing. All the best & Have fun

  14. Custom BBCodes for Forums -------------------------- Hi all, I came up with this article to share what I learnt of designing Custom BBCodes for various forum softwares while trying to come up with some useful one's for Xisto. Most of you are by now familiar with the new ones like CONSOLE, NOTE, TABL etc. which I introduced a few days back. So how do these BBCodes work ? And how does the forum softwares parse them. BBCodes, as you know, usually takes a [ TAG ] Text Stuff [ /TAG ] format. The "Text Stuff" in the textual content on which you want your bbcode to work. In almost 99% of the cases, you HAVE to include the content between a matching pair of TAG & /TAG. Here's what I figured out about the BBCodes of IPB Forum Software after a lot of experimentation. N.B. You've to be a good bit familiar with HTML to be able to create your own BBCode or at least understand how they work. Step 1 Come up with some logical name for your BBCode that relates to it's job. For example, the CONSOLE BBCode that I created was meant for showing text in a console output format - hence the name. A good idea would be to keep the name of the TAG short & sweet - coz most of us loose interest in using the BBCodes if they're named too long - after all whoever wants to type more BBCodes that the content of their posts. Step 2 THE IPB Software as well as the other common ones (phpBB, SMF, vBulletin etc.) support a common format for BBCodes - so a BBCode written for either of these would logically work for the rest - except in certain cases where you need minor modifications. So how does the BBCode Parser decide which part to display as content and which one to take as the Code? Well quite obviously, the name of the code that we came up in the first step IS the name of the TAG that we're going to enclose in the square brackets [] while using on the forums. So we declare this name, (I'll use my CONSOLE example here) as the TAG. Where do you define this ? All the forum softwares have an Administration Control Panel - where you can perform thousands of administrative stuff on the respective boards. Invariably, here you'll find the option to create custom BBCodes.. Browse to that section and you'll find the option to Create/Edit your codes. See the picture below to spot it on IPB. We won't spend much time discussing the BBCode editors of different forum sw's. Go through the respective docs and find out where you can edit/insert them. Lets get to the real thing rightaway. The last textarea in this example, titled Custom BBCode Replacement is the part where your BBCode gets translated to raw HTML. Here's the code I used for my CONSOLE tag. <div id="conheader" style="width: 650px; border: solid 1px #000000; background-color: #FFFF80; color: black; border: thin solid; font-family: Tahoma; font-weight: bold; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px;">CONSOLE</div><div id="console" style="width: 655px; border: solid 1px #000000; background-color: #000000; color: yellow; border: thin solid; font-family: Tahoma; font-weight: bold; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px;">{content}</div> Take a second look at this jumble of HTML tags. You'll see that the code consists of TWO of the <DIV> or Layer Tags - all those parameters associated with each tag simple specifies the characteristics of those layers (width, height, color, border-color, border-style, font size/weight/color for text inside them etc.). The first <DIV></DIV> tagpair is the one which defines the top header for the console code. It's simply a rectangular box with yellow background and black text and contains the word CONSOLE in it. This is the part of the code which creates it: <div id="conheader" style="width: 650px; border: solid 1px #000000; background-color: #FFFF80; color: black; border: thin solid; font-family: Tahoma; font-weight: bold; padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px;">CONSOLE</div>Even though it looks cryptic at the first look - it's relatively simple... The parameters/attributes are almost self-explanatory. The width: 650px limits the width of the header to 650pixels. Now this is something you got to be careful about, coz if the width of your DIV is too large, it'll distort your post as well as the whole page out of shape making the right edge leave the screen and go far far beyond. So try to keep this figure within safe limits. The "border", "background-color", "color", "font" etc do exactly what they represent. If you need more info about the various DIV attributes, visit: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_div.asp The second layer or <DIV> tag is the one which holds the text that you include between the tags. Lets take a closer look at this code again: <div id="console" style="width: 655px; border: solid 1px #000000; background-color: #000000; color: yellow; border: thin solid; font-family: Tahoma; font-weight: bold; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px;">{content}</div> As you can see this is almost the same as the first one. I haven't specified any height attribute for this BBCode as I want it to expand vertically to accomodate as many lines of text as you want to include. The text that you include between the tags is passed on as a variable named {content} which you can see right at the end of the code before the ending </div> tag. The whole text is assigned to {content} variable and passed to the HTML parser. This whatever you enclose between the BBCode tags, takes on the style/appearance as specified in the DIV tags. Still not clear ? Lets take a look at another example. This time it's the HIGHLIGHT BBCode - which can do a little bit extra, in the sense, that it can take the name of the color as an OPTION and pass it to the HTML Parser to give you, your desired color HIGHLIGHT. Here's the Code for it: <span style="background-color:{option}">{content}</span>As you can see this one is real short and sweet. Similar to the textual content, the options that you specify while using a BBCode ( in the form [ TAG = something ] ) is assigned to another variable named {option} which has to be placed properly along with a style attribute. Since we're specifying colors here, the "background-color:{option}" takes the {option} variable and uses it's contents as the name of the color. While using the BBCode, we'll call it as:HIGHLIGHT=red, for example. This "red" goes into {option} variable, and when it reaches the HTML Parser, the code looks like: <span style="background-color:red">. The {option} part is simply replaced by it's content. Right after that, once again we meet the {content} var, which contains the text to the highlighted.. So something like, [ HIGHLIGHT=red ]This is Red Text[ /HIGHLIGHT ] will parse as: <span style="background-color:red">This is Red Text</span>. Get the idea ? Keep in mind that when you create a BBCode that can use an option, you've to declare it so. Go back and take a look at that IPB Picture again. The second last item is a pair of Radio Buttons that enables a BBCode to use the option passed to it. In such a BBCode this must be marked YES. I'll end this tutorial with another small example - the HR BBCode which is a replacement for the <HR> or Horizontal Rule used in HTML to put a horizontal separator in the page. The code for this is: <hr {option}>{content}The <HR> HTML tag doesn't require an ending /TAG pair - and so it is reflected in the code. Even here I've allowed the code to take an option. If used without any option - it'll draw the standard 3D-Shaded Horizontal Rule, but if an option, like noshade is passed to it, the line will be thick and solid. Hope this tutorial will give you a basic insight into the workings of BBCode-->HTML and get you started on some cool ones of your own. Waiting for some neat one's from you guys. If you've got some good code ready at hand, feel free to share it with us here (and if it's really good - it might end up being added here and at Xisto as well) Have fun
  15. Ooooh thats so cool JimBeam. My heartiest congratulations and best wishes are with you. Maybe you should change your nick to DaddyBeam for a while May your baby be showered with the good luck & happiness in the world. Thanks for sharing this extremely joyous moment with us
  16. The libgnomeui.so.32 is usually located under /usr/lib folder.. You can try using the locate command to find it. CONSOLE shell> locate libgnomeui.so.32 /usr/lib/libgnomeui.so.32.14.1 /usr/lib/libgnomeui.so.32 If the file exists you'll get the containing directory with the filename. If it doesn't go to this site: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idp1.i586.rpm.html Here you'll find all the rpm's and libraries. Just browse through the content of the rpms or search till you find this library..Next all you gotta do it install it - and your work's done
  17. I'm not good at JavaScript - you might be able to find lots of them at HotScripts.Com or javascript.internet.com - but here's an easy alternative. I've got a ready-to-run PHP Script that does exactly the same thing. Take a look at it - the comments inside the script will guide you through what to do/what not to do. Make sure you read all the comments properly. Otherwise this is an easy 3 step process: Step 1: Design and put a form on your webpage Step 2: Enter your correct email address and post_page link below (see inside script) Step 3: Upload the form file & the script file to your webspace N.B. Make sure the name of the script file is in exactly the same character case as specified in the FORM ACTION="scriptname" section. <?php/*************************************************************Step 1:Create a form on your web-page with whatever fields are needed. It should use POST action tosend the form input to this php script. Your form MUST contain two fields named "Name" & "Email" - the rest can be whatever you like. These two fields should be titled as I stated for the scriptto be able to extract the name and email of the user. See example here. <form action="sendformtoemail.php" method="post"><table><tr>............ Form content goes here. Typical form would contain Name, Email & Comments ............ Fields & Submit and Clear Buttons.<td>Name:</td><td><input type="text" size="40" name="Name"></td></tr><tr>Email address:</td><td><input type="text" size="40" name="Email"></td></tr><tr>............ Rest of fields</tr></table></form>**************************************************************//*************************************************************Step 2:Enter the email address to which the form will be mailed:**************************************************************/$email_address = "put your email address here between quotes";/*************************************************************The post_action varibale contain a link to which users are re-directed after successfulsubmission of the form. If you don't want any other page to load leave it to "/"**************************************************************/$post_page = "/";/*************************************************************Step 3:Save this file as "sendformtoemail.php" upload it together with your webpage into the samedirectory as your Form page. **************************************************************/// ***********************************************************// CRITICAL REGION// DO NOT EDIT THE CODE BELOW THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOINGif ($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] != "POST"){ exit;}// This loops through each line of the post and determines if any field has been left blank.// If so that field's contents are not includedwhile ( list ( $field, $value ) = each ( $_POST ) ){ if ( ! 19. Don't worry about the channel taking away the attention from the board. I thought so too at first. But if you take a second look - it's not quite possible to make large reply posts such as here on irc. That place is for some quick help regarding hosting & other issues - or answers to some short questions regarding this board. On IRC you can't:1. Post good tutorials2. Explain a big setup/installation/problem fixing process step by step3. All the rest of cool stuff that we do at this forum and the way we share our ideas. 4. Get web-hosting (lol) - you can't do that on IRC for sure. Now we come upon the biggest motivating factor (for most) to keep posting here. No Posts, No Host ;)5. Think of some really convincing reasons on your own and add them in here .... :)Other than that +factors:1. This represents stream of conciousness which is important for building a strong community where everyone knows each other2. We could provide help much faster if we were using live chat :(3. For unix lovers - IRC's one of the best mediums to get started on unix and know a whole lot about it. Also great place to learn scripting in the various scripting languages that *NIX offers.
  20. Whatpulse is this free service that installs a small client on your system that keeps track of the number of keys you typed on the keyboard and you total mouse click count. It then uploads this data onto a central server from time to time and matches your total key+mouse clicks against their database to give you a world ranking. Your details can be fetched from their server and composed into a signature as the one you see below my posts. It's a pretty useless service as it doesn't serve any real purpose but a real cool & fun thing. Also wouldn't you like to know what distance would it cover if all the characters you typed were laid side by side on a long line ? :)Go get it at: http://whatpulse.org/
  21. Now there are several bots protecting the channels: #Xisto, #Xisto & #XisTo 1. Eggdrop bot: ReBeCa - owned & modded by me. 2. Windrop bot: NBot - owned & modded by Trekkie101 Trekkie has already listed what his bot can do. Here's what ReBeCa can do: ReBeCa responds to quite a few commands typed in the main channel window. All commands should be prefixed with a ! sign. Among these is a new module called Credits which displays your remaining hosting credits in the channel or in a private message. !weather <city> <country> - this takes one or two paramters and reports live weather conditions from an associated site. !credits - this will fetch your remaining hosting credits info and display it in the channel. !ping - this will make the BOT ping you and find out the ping time (response time) of your own host. !seen <nickname> - this command takes a nickname as arguement and provides you with information about when he was last seen in the channel !chanstats - this will show you a one line channel usage statistics. !bofh - this picks out a random quote from the Bastard Operator From Hell archives and displays it in the channel. !whatpulse - grabs your current whatpulse ranking from their server and displays it in the channel More to come... soon Till then have fun..
  22. Damned cool jipman. I'm really getting to like the concept.. Wanna create an Xisto team and get more users to join in from here ?? That way we can give a lot of teams a big run
  23. Check out this site --> http://www.westciv.com/style_master/academy/browser_support/ It lists a few common browsers that support CSS1 & 2 and any browsers based on these engines will support CSS. This site also dicusses various aspects of CSS and the style attributes associated with it in good details. Here's a quick list from their site. Also don't forget the CSS Guide at w3.org: http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/
  24. Do you have any kind of popup stopper running on your system (check your system tray). This sounds like one of those. Or else something has hijacked your browser and turns it off when you try to browse other pages. Check for that popup stopper and run some antispyware (get Spybot Search & Destroy) - it's free. You can get it at:https://www.safer-networking.org/ Check all these and let us know if the problem still persists. Cheers
  25. Can you provide us with some example for keywords that you use for say, a specific search topic ? Give us a list of the topics as well as the keywords you are using for them. That way we can help you figure out where it's going wrong... Google gets us the answers 90% of the time. It shouldn't be otherwise for you.All the best
