Earlier even with 512MB, windows used to swap like crazy, coz with all my tools loaded I'd have just about 100MB free for use by other softwares.Now I have a whopping 800Meg free for use.. As soon as I installed the 1Gig, Windows swallowed up around 550Meg.. lol.. I wonder how it was behaving itself when I had a 512 meg ONLY.... hehe..

6"x4" is your standard "Post Card Size" print - I'd recommend getting one size bigger than that (8"x5" if I remember correctly). It turns out quite cost-effective that way, as the price difference between postcard and this size is hardly a few cents - while the details come out really well. Infact the larger you go the better it is - it is then that you start discovering all the hidden aspects of your snaps - which ellude you in smaller prints. Whichever picture I deemed was a "little good" - I'd get large prints (8" x 10" sometimes) done - so I could sit back and study how to improve on the shot, framing and apperture/shutter-speed in general... That really helped me develope a much better sense of framing as well as gave me a thorough understanding of light conditions and subject placement. Personally - I don't like bordered prints. I always go for full-frame ones.. but then again this is a matter of personal choice. Also I'd rather go for matte prints rather than glossy. Matte prints are really colour saturated and more often will render a different enhanced look to even bad shots (under or overexposed). Also they are a (just a little) triffle bit more grease(fingerprint) resistant than the glossy prints - which start showing ugly fingerprint marks immediately, if you don't handle the prints by the corners. On the other hand glossy prints are highly reflective, giving rise to an illusion of greater details and contrast. Glossy prints handle over/under-exposed shots really BAD. Wait up and see what feedback you get from the other members - everybody will have different opinion about the paper+print sizes.. See all Internet Speed ratings are actually measured in MegaBITS or KiloBITS per second... which is 8 times more in constrast to the actual download speeds you get..For a 1Meg ADSL Link, the actual download speed would be: 1024Kbps/8 = 128KiloBYTES/second.. which means it would take you approximately around 8-10 seconds to get a 1MB file, if your link can sustain the speed continuously..Similarly, a 25Mbps connection means 25 Megabits/second.. actual download speeds would be around - 3200KiloBYTES per second which is approx: 3.12 MegaBYTEs/second.. Still this is a humongous figure... even at this rate, a 3.5GB movie would take you around 1195 seconds i.e. approx. 20 minutes.. IMPRESSIVE MAN

Lol.. sorry i can't help you here - but this indeed is a very funny problem.. Even I've installed IPB several times - but never faced such a situation. If nothing works out - you can simply use phpMyAdmin to delete that test-user record from your mysql database - that would work for sure although you'd have to delete the records from all relevant tables, and not just the main member's list table - or else it'll leave a whole bunch of orphaned stubs everywhere..

As far as I know wget was blocked by the server admins through apache's mod_security .. don't know about the present status. Your problem might be because of that.

Dude panoramic has got it's own charm - but it can never emulate the dramatization/framing that you can achieve through normal 35mm film. Organicbmx: normally panomaric shots would mean a super stretched wide-view still shot, examples of which you can find at: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/82936-topic/?findpost=1064296604 But nowadays the defninition of panomaric view is changing - and most likely the 3d-wide angle views, where you are in the center will also be incorporated into the definition of it. Have you ever heard of a Software called QTVR ? It stands for QuickTime Virtual Reality. It does exactly what you're looking for - stiches frame by frame panoramic shots and converts it into a smooth panning animation or still frame - either way you want it. In fact in the end product, you can pan and move on either axis with using your mouse. While QTVR might not be free - I don't think you'll have much problem acquiring it

Dude J++ aint that hard at all - if you have any basic knowledge of Java - it in fact makes your life far easier by providing you with the same set of interface designing tools that accompany C# or VB.NET.. so your interface design is accomplished in a jiffy - while the backend can be comfortably written in a Java like syntax. While J++ or J# doesn't fully conform to the Java standards and relies more on Microsoft's own JVM - it's a pretty good RAD tool to have in your box Regards, m^e

As mentioned above - finding out your own MAC address is a one-step job through ipconfig/all - but finding out someone else's MAC address - I'm not so sure of. I don't think it can be done in any easy way or if it can be done at all. To the best of my knowledge - such a thing can be done only if the other computer is a part of your LAN.. and even in that case, you'd have to extensively analyze the packets passing to and fro on your network, and study the headers. Sometimes the packet headers contain the destination computers MAC Address - specially if the LAN is using Microsoft's NetBEUI(NetBIOS) protocol. If it is a TCP/IP based network - forget about MAC addresses... why do you need it anyway ?

I've got a solution for you - but unfortunately not in VB6. I'm afraid I'm way better with VB & C# - the .NET versions than I ever was (or need to be) with VB6. See if you can find some similar syntax in VB6 and port this code to suit you... We'll start by writing a small function that will parse the clipboard contents and return all the text found in it as one whole long string. First of all start a new project as Standard Windows Application and in the Code View add the following code: Private Function GetTextFromClipboard () As String Dim ClipboardData As IDataObject = Clipboard.GetDataObject() With ClipboardData If .GetDataPresent(DataFormats.Text) Then Return _ .GetData(DataFormats.Text) End With End Function I dont think much explanation is needed in way here - we're simply defining an object named ClipboardData of the interface type IDataObject. The member method GetDataPresent fetches you the data from the clipboard which corresponds to the format specified within the paranthesis (here DataFormats.Text). The "If" checks whether there is any text data present and if true, returns it using this function. Now all you need to do is use this function and store the text data from the clipboard into a String variable. Say, Dim ClipData As StringClipData = GetTextFromClipboard () Now going back to your original question... supposing you have two lines of text in the clipboard:123:45 345:57 This is stored in the ClipData variable as one string broken in the middle by a carriage return - in terms of VB, which can be located by matching against a CHR(13). But you don't need to go that way. VB provides a very cool function called split which is the contemporary of the explode function in PHP - it essentially breaks up a string into several parts and stores each part serially in an array based on a common delimiter. Here the delimeter is Carriage Return or CHR(13)... so all we need to do is define and empty array and use split. Dim DataLines () as StringDataLines = split ( ClipData, Chr(13), -1 ) That should store the values 123:45 and 345:57 into position 0 and 1 of the array... Now simply pass this through a for-next loop or while-wend loop and match each position against the values stored elsewhere in your program... and print out the difference. Hope this helps... On the same computer - either have the Guest account enabled (XP) or simply create some random account with a simple login/pass like: share/share3. Dude - but CAT-6 is approximately two and half-times more the price of CAT-5 and isn't recommended for home users at all. Besides, even with CAT-6 you can at best attain 80% of the desired speed. I wouldn't ever rely on CAT-6 to run my Gigabit ethernet. Nothing short of Fibre Optic for that.Besides, if your end-to-end distance is less than 50metres, then even CAT-5 can sustain near-gigabit speed without too much signal loss.

Hey, I had the same problem with MySQL+PHP - and it seems the problem stems from PHP not being compiled with support for the MySQL transactions - that's the only logical explanation I found on the MySQL forums. What i did was blindly recompile PHP with --with-mysqli (MySQL interface) option - and that made it work. I'd found out about this partly from PHP & partly from MySQL forums and I'm still looking for a proper clear-cut explanation - but none that I've come across has satisfied me. Try posting the same on the MySQL forums too and see if you get any decent response. The other fact I know about this error - is that starting from version 4.1.x of MySQL, the password hash that is used for mysql authentication was increased from 16 to 41 bytes. Thus older clients cannot talk to the newer servers because of the disparity in authentication methods. From this I deduced that the version of PHP (both you and me are using) is compiled to support the older authentication protocol and hence cannot converse with mysql servers starting from 4.1 There's an alternate fix for this - if you don't want to go into the hassle of recompiling php with the new mysql client libraries. Find out your my.cnf - MySQL configuration file and under the [mysqld] section add the statement: old-passwords - and then restart the MySQL server. This will make it fall back to the older 16-byte authentication method and PHP will work fine with it. Hope this helps to some extent. Regards, m^e

As far as I know you can contact your old company and pay some one-time registrar changing fees, and get your old domain to be transferred to your new registrar - i.e. have all your domains/subdomains under one roof. Besides, even if they offered you the domain for free - it must have come as a part of your hosting package. In such a case, you should logically retain rights over your domain and should be able to transfer it to anywhere you like. Contact your earlier no-monthly fees guy and find out the details. That's how these deals always work out.
