Network Domain And Dynamic Dns
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Computer Networks
One advise - read all the posts in the thread before you attempt to add in anything. The thread starter himself has said that he's availing the dynamic dns service and wants to know what more he can get out his router+network. Hence, the post that you made is quite pointless, isn't it ? -

Using Addon-domain
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in General Discussion
I think you should wait for it to propagate. BTW, with cjb.net do you have the facility to set the DNS servers ?? Coz if so, you need to do that first - set them to the nameservers of Xisto. If you've already done that, it should start functioning properly within a day or so. -
This came to me through email a couple of days back - and it this is true, this is by far the most hilarious corporate memo of this century. I've posted this on Asta too - but would like to share it with you all. BTW - this would appeal more to the Indian people on this board as it contains a lot of expletives in our national language - Hindi. I wouldn't bother translating them, as some of them are real nasty. But wherever you encounter such a word, simply put your imagination at work and replace it with something filthy - and you'd get the gist of the whole memo. On second thoughts, I'll do provide translations (not literal) of some of the minor ones - and in most cases I'll tone down the meaning a bit: The verb CHOD - to screw, to put it mildly AKKAL NAHI HAI KYA TEREKO - You don't have brains enough GADHA - donkey / **bottom** - whichever you prefer GAND FAADU - Kick **bottom** KAAMCHOR SAALA - bloody idiot who's always absconding from work. DIMAG KI MAA BHEN MAT KAR - dont chew on my brains GOTI MUH MEIN HAI - my testicles have popped up to my mouth BOL TERI GAND KAISE MARU - let me know how to screw your hindside BUDDHA KHOOSAT - Old hag YE KAGAJ GAND PONCHNE KE LAAYAK BHI NAHI HAI - this is the final one in the memo - this means, this memo paper isn't even worth wiping your **bottom** with or being used as a toilet tissue. Have a good laugh m^e P.S. Even after translation a good part of the connotations are lost. I could have been closer to the real meanings but that'd put the post in a somewhat risque category.

Dear members,????[/tab]This is to inform you that twitch - one of our dearest mod's - dad passed away early morning of 3rd Feb 2006. Fasterfox exactly does what those tweaks do - but along with that it adds in its own enhanced prefetching tool, which sits in the background and keeps fetching bits and pieces of content from the links in your current page and stuffs it into the cache. Thus by the time you finish with one page and click on a link on it - the next page is already partially loaded making it seem load even faster.

Creating Tables In MySQL On Home Comp
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Kushika's topic in Programming
May I suggest a program that's far faster and WAY more powerful (and best of all FREE) when it comes to Administrating MySQL Databases ... it's called SQLYog and can be grabbed off https://www.webyog.com/ It's a terrific program and here's a comprehensive list of features: I highly recommend this over phpMyAdmin as this can manipulate remote databases too - and ever since I started using this, I administer my Xisto databases with this tool.. Incidentally this allows me to sync my local databases with the one's at Xisto DIRECTLY. And it's like 10000times faster than using phpMyAdmin. Here's what phpMyAdmin CANNOT do that this software can: Just go grab it, use it and give me some good feedback about it. I've been trying in vain for a while to spread the word around about this awesome tool - surprising that not many people know about it or use it despite knowing about it. -
Credits Script Not Working?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to warbird1405241485's topic in General Discussion
Just wait up for a few days - you might notice a few anomalies here and there as the credits system is undergoing a massive upgrade. With the new system in place, the EDIT button will be made available to you again - as this revamped system will recalculate your credits whenever you edit any post. In effect - if you fill a post with garbage to earn a bunch of credits, you'll loose all of them as soon as you edit your post to remove the garbage. Moreover the actual calculations will change quite a bit giving more latitude to well written and longer posts while totally cutting out one-liners. -
Yup true - there are several threads on this. Followup on the older ones. Topic closed.

Andrew, welcome to Xisto. Ya I did see your posts around and they're quite good. Keep it up. You'd have your hosting in no time.

Are There Any 3d Text Based Games ?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to danzarely's topic in Computer Gaming
I don't know of any such game in existence. However, I hope you realize how daunting and almost next to impossible task it'll be to come up with a TEXT-BASED 3D RPG to come even close to the ones in the market now, with all their ultra-realistic 3D Graphical Engines. -

That was a big rumour - nothing else. Just search on google or click on this search link: https://www.google.com/search?q=opera+bough:en-US:official You'll find plenty of articles claiming this on various news sites and forums - and Opera themselves have denied this. Infact, the first two hits on the search are on Opera denying the microsoft takeover and an article by Steve Ballmer (Chief Executive, Microsoft) on why Opera will not be bought by Microsoft dated 26th January 2006. As for me I'm a Firefox guy all the way through. I've got Opera 8.5 installed too, but when I start opening too many tabs on it - for every new tab I open, Opera gets slower and slower and starts freezing up the older tabs, till the new tabs haven't finished loading. This behaviour is abolutely intolerable. Firefox gives me no such trouble. Don't try telling me there's something wrong with my system. I got a P4-3Ghz with 2GB ram and a 1meg ADSL link here. With Firefox, I can open about 30 Tabs simultaneously - without noticing even the minimal system lag. All tabs continue loading simultaneously. Not so with opera. It would just freeze up the older ones - giving it a very bulky and shaky appearance. If Opera cannot perform well on a system like mine - what would it do good on ?

You guys are missing the whole point. Yubnub is not meant to be a search engine. Rather it provides you with a centralized web-based console to perform almost any web-based task using brief keystrokes. It's quite a unique concept and you have to give it to the guy who thought of this - both for his ingenuity and implementation. It's not AT ALL meant to be a search engine tool - but as you can see searching is the most popular task and hence a few commands have already been created for various search engines. But with the advanced command creator, you can go about creating commands for any web-based task you want. These's even a handy command tester panel - where you can first check whether your command works or not - and then hit the CREATE button. Then again - this tool will never appeal to people who don't venture beyond the Point-And-Click interface of windows and the web in general. But for the adventurous ones and the command-line lovers, this is a tasty delight.

Hacking isn't BAD by any means - except that some people carry it out for bad purposes to earn $$$. That's what has tarnished the name. How the heck do you think would all the security holes be discovered if it wasn't for hacking ?? Without that you'd have to gulp down whatever one of the software giants stuffs down your throat.. hacking in the first place brings out their flaws and forces them to seal them.. far quicker than if it was left to them to figure out in due time.

Caught With Stolen Camera !
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to ebbinger_413's topic in General Discussion
Hey wait a second.. all items sold have a SERIAL NUMBER on them - and at any point in the whole distributor-wholesaler-retailer chain there HAS TO BE A RECORD. It's like a 2 minute job for the cops to figure it out. Besides, if it was stolen from the school and it wa originally the schools property - it would have been bought by the school as a part of it's inventory - which will DEFINITELY have items listed along with their serial numbers. If your teacher claims that there WAS something on it for the school to identify it - that total BULL man. She CANNOT CLAIM any crap like that without proper proof. Any mark that the school might have put on it is NOT LEGALLY VALID - but the serial number is, if it's still there. Now if you bought a camera without a serial number on it, God help you. But if it still has the serial number, get tracking it down and then you can go back and stuff the camera up her throat and other unimaginable places for putting up accusations like this without proper proof and without thinking twice. -
Yeah - that's the whole story behind that new Windows Live thingie they're trying to introduce. The idea is you can work on them online from any corner of the world. Got any screenshots of the new Hotmail Beta? Can you please tell your friend to pass on some ? Never mind - I found some decent screenshots at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ So what's all this hoohaaa about ? I don't see anything great about it. It's got a bunch of new toned graphics and colors and still a WHOLE BUNCH OF ADS sprawled everywhere. Rather than going for the looks, I'd stick to GMail for it's efficiency and speed. Also it vaguely looks like Outlook with the vertical design.

If they're used GHOST, as jipman said - your WHOLE PARTITION was rewritten from an original master image. So all data you had prior to that has been effectively wiped out. Your only hope is whatever manual backup you had from 2 days back. A Recommendation This is what I learnt the hard way after loosing a lot of documents many times . What I do now, is right-click on My Documents, go to properties and move the actual My Documents physical folder to another partition. That way I can safely save everything in My Documents - but the files travel to another partition and get saved there. Whenever I need to wipe out windows and re-install, I can safely erase whole of C: drive and re-do it with Ghost or normal installation. All my personal files are still safely tucked away in another folder in that other partition - totally untouched. DO THAT - believe me, it'll save you from massive amounts of headache later on..and any time you re-install, you don't have to go like - "Oh $hit, I forgot to backup my documents!!!!"
