  1. Cool - same here, at least in the first two... I collect: Stamps Coins & also Currency Notes Telephone Cards from different countries Small statuettes of Lord Ganesha (the elephant headed Hindu God) - I got well over 300 different statuettes of Him. Had a sizable collection of butterflies & moths, but gave up a few years back as it was getting incresingly difficult to maintain in absence of spare time. That's all I can recall at this moment - I've always been into collecting stuff (since childhood) and am sure there are more weird collections lurking around in every nook and corner of my home. Regards, m^e
  2. If you search at the Mozilla site under Firefox themes for the word "Netscape" you'll get a bunch of themes (skins) for firefox. Here's a direct link to the Search Results: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ See if any of them suit you Regards, m^e
  3. Ahaa I misinterpreted his post.. Anyway - what you seek is quite easy to do - but the format of the link you've stated is quite unnecessary... a better approach would be something like: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - and you simply keep changing the last number to switch galleries.
  4. Those are ROCKING pictures dude Just wish you had a better camera - finer resolution would have done wonders to those shots. These are the ones I liked the best (composition and dramatisation wise): Butter Clouds on Highway 2 - this one is fab, by virtue of the fact that you've got two sets of elements leading all the way to the horizon. The clouds themselves and the row of electric polls. Butter Clouds over Emmar 4 - only if the edge of the car-window (or whatever's on the left edge) was omitted this would make a terrific shot.. You got it at a nice angle too. The arched sweep of the clouds really makes this one stand out. Butter Clouds 1 & Butter Clouds Shine over Tree 1 - in both the effect you achieved is breathtaking.. it's like the clouds are some mystical rays emanating from the sun.. I wonder how it would have looked in real life.. must have been stunning Butter Clouds over Mosque 2 - this would have made a great shot if you'd captured the mosque's sillhouette a little more clearly. That's where it lacks. Otherwise nice try. Get yourself a good 5 MegaPixel camera dude - they aint expensive at all.. especially in Dubai and start shooting.. u have the basic skills to get started and you'll be shooting stunners in no time Good luck, m^e
  5. Errr.. dude, you link gives a Page Not Found error. Are you sure you posted the correct link ?
  6. Cool give PGSQL a try and let me know.As for CloudScape - it belong to the family of embeddable databases. To clarify things a bit more - think about the AddressBook that accompanies Outlook Express or Outlook in itself. Where do you think it stores all your contacts and/or mails ??Think how easy and efficient it will be if you stored all that data in a database which can be manipulated by SQL, and yet the database remains invisible and as an integrated part of your application. It's simply there in the background - you don't need to setup anything - no servers, no config. Yet you have a fully functional SQL manipulable database powering your app. Think of the advantages - that's CloudScape No creating a separate file to save your data, no manual saves - lightning fast SQL based FULLTEXT searches, all thrown in together.
  7. Ooo nice Good one dude - it stinks of nature and those drasted butterflies.. joking apart - really pleasant and colourful, although you won't find much of an art crtitic in me, except for actual photographs. That's where my knowledge of visual arts starts and ends
  8. Resent to your xs_host account. Monopoly money will do too - as long as it reaches my Bribepal account.
  9. Naah I got what he's meant after reading through the articles. Apparently one of the key ingredients of the vaccine for bird flu will come from the needles of the evergreen coniferous trees.
  10. The only free opensource alternative to MySQL - that I know of - is called PostGreSQL, which offers about the same range of features as MySQL plus some more. It can be freely downloaded at: https://www.hub.org/ Another good free + lightweight rdbms package is CloudScape from IBM - which allows you to embed the database in your application, creating a transparent data storage area, which you can utilize for developing applications of the likes phone/addressbooks, where the user won't have to create a separate database. However I'm not sure about how far it can be implemented for web-based appz.
  11. I moved this to Science and Tech forum - as I couldn't properly categorize this post. It involves elements of Science, Religion, Philosophy - all thrown in together. If you guys think there's some other forum on this board that is more suitable for this post, please let me know.BTW - this is turning into an extremely interesting discussion. Keep it up folks
  12. I tired sending it to you again - but I think something's blocking it altogether - maybe your mail provider or your ISP. Can I suggest an alternative ? Open up another account somewhere like gmail and change your board profile address to that and let me know. Three consecutive sends failing surely smells of something fishy on the part of your ISP. Let me know...Siggghhhh...there goes my $1,000
  13. As Quatrux said, Better late than never. - although timing is important, it's the WISH that matters the most
  14. Yes to your query. You can put your own ads from Adsense and elsewhere... but alongwith it, it'll be nice if you put a link back to Xisto somewhere on your page - although this is NOT MANDATORY.Topic closed
  15. Wait up till OpaQue is around - unfortunately, this is something which only he can fix. I've informed him but haven't received any reply yet. He went off on a short trip for the Christmas/New Years week - not sure if he's back yet. Hopefully, the case will be taken up within a day or two as soon as he's online next.
  16. Awesome. Glad that helped That second method was a chance discovery while I was experimenting with coding a bunch of numerical manipulations quite sometime back - in relation to this cryptographic routine that I was trying to come up with.
  17. That sounds uncannily close to hindi - but then it's Persian tongue... and we do have a lot of Parsian derived words in use in almost all the indian languages. Infact it sounds more like a combination of Hindi and Urdu. Here's how: Sale (Persian) = Saal (Hindi) = Year Noe (Persian) = Naye (Hindi) = New Mobarak = Subhkaamnayen (Hindi) / Mubarak (Urdu) = Greetings / Well-Wishing This tells me, we could come up with certain threads like this - just pick up a greeting or some well-known phrase and try to find the same in all the world languages. The word usage can show us lot of interesting facts and relations between the various world lingo. Think about it
  18. Fortunately in our case - every single person who's been promoted to an authoritative position had a terrific posting record to go with it. That has always been our first criteria - coz only those who're able to make such posts, can infact identify the good ones next in line as well as help in weeding out the bad ones. Am happy to say that not for once our trust/faith has been misplaced That in itself says a fat lot for the wild bunch we got as mods here
  19. I sent the mail again to your jennifer****@cs.com account - let me know if you received it. Next time onwards am going to charge you at the flat rate of $1,000 per activation email sent :D You're making me work so hard !!
  20. Yes, houdini you're right - a lot of such WEIRD incidents do happen - which would totally defy the sense of normality. Both my parents being dentists I get to hear a lot of such interesting cases. Hey, that gives me an idea - I'll ask them to list the most whacked out cases they've received and I'll compile into a crazy facts post here And Shooting Star, why do you think such cases are NOT possible ?? You said that one out of a billion people can live beyond 110 - and come to think of it - we don't have just ONE billion people in the world - we have several billions. Why do you think we won't find a bunch of people like that among them? Just because of the fact that Guiness Book recorded max. age is 110, that doesn't mean deviations won't exist.. Remember, exceptions always prove the rule. There's a lot in this world that we cannot just discard as unbelievable simply based on our own ignorance. While I don't believe in every *BLEEP* and bull story that comes my way - I usually tend to give the benefit of doubt to cases which smell even of the faint vestiges of truth. Then I simply wait out to see whether it's proved/disproved. Discarding it hands-down as BS will prove nothing more than what kind of a narrow-minded recipient I am. Besides, in the Vedas/Puranas which are the oldest written scriptures (Hindu) in the world, we can find references of civilizations where average life-span was close to 200-250 years. That might be quite true - and we've might lost a lot of that life-span as we evolved - but what prevents some of that gene to be carried forward in a few of us ??? Answer me that
  21. Power and feature-wise I don't think anything comes even close to IPB - and now with the newer versions, so is the ease of use. Also some drastic changes in the core of the board has resulted in operations WAYYYY faster and dramatically reduced the load time too. While I'm a die-hard supporter of OpenSource, I'm all-out for IPB.. It simply rockz
  22. Going off topic here - but I must say, good points bangalore - very good discussion indeed. Keep it up
  23. Mail resent - please check your new email account: jenniferg6775_AT_cs_DOT_com I had to cancel the earlier approval which was linked to your old email - so you might find a mail to that effect too, along with the new approval email. Don't panic Just let me know by return post whether you received the mail this time or not.
