Another Hosting Account: Is That Possible At Asta
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Khymnon's topic in General Discussion
I was getting late for a wedding invitation And what a dinner.. Am still licking muh fingers Yummmeeh !! Anyway, as far as I know there's a rule set by Xisto Corp. - infact, by their gangleader OpaQue that you cannot have more than one hosting account either at here or at Xisto. Infact you are not even supposed to apply for one at the other site, if you're a hosted member at one of them. This limits you to only ONE hosted account at either Asta or Trap. This is done to distribute the resources (diskspace and monthly bandwidth) among all deserving members in a fair and equal manner. As you can see, we run on limited resources and alloting two accounts to one person means we have to do the same for everyone else - and thus very soon become incapable of accepting new members Past one year we've gone through several server shifts and bandwidth upgrades - but still it's very hard to acquire the resources to start dishing out hosting schemes like that. You see, this site as well as Xisto requires a big fat paycheck to run every month I won't reveal the exact amount - but it's not below a thousand USD monthly. All that money comes from the revenue earned from the paying customers of Xisto - Web Hosting - which is funnelled in to keep these free-servers alive - thus leaving us walking on a tightrope by the end of every month -
Hey Y'all Introduction of Tolar Jharn (Toj)

Welcome dude - you seem right out of the pages of a RPG Tell us more about your adventures. And oh yeah - have a great stay with us here. -
There seems to be a catch. On their signup page - in fine print under the FREE Account Scheme it says: - which, if I inerpret correctly sets your download limits to 100MB/mo ONLY. i.e., your monthly bandwidth is 100MB as against 10GB of files stored in your diskspace over there. WHAT GOOD IS 100MB/month I ask you ??? If I host even 5 audio files of 5MB each - it's just 4 consecutive downloads of the whole set before my BW is exhausted. Correct me if I'm wrong. I tell you 99.9% of these hosting services are pure unadulterated B$hit. All of them talk just BIG and trick you into signing up - but invariably leaves you to find out all the "catches" and fine-prints after you've signed up and probably helped them earn a bunch of revenues in various ways. Only then you discover how bloated a picture they presented you with and how little useful the service actually is to you.

Whats Happens After I Exhaust Bandwith + Space
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to bash18's topic in Web Hosting Support
The maximum space you can get under any circumstances is 150MB and as for Bandwidth - you get a monthly dedicated 5GB. I'm afraid that as of now we cannot offer any more, since we've got a considerable number of members to take care of.Once you exceed your diskspace or monthly bandwidth, you're issued a warning by email. If it's diskspace, you've got a chance to rectify by removing some files from your home folder. This has to be done within 24 hours of receiving the notice. If not your account gets automatically suspended, till you bring the usage down to your alloted limits. As for Bandwidth - there's nothing you can do when it exceeds your monthly quota. You account once again, will get auto suspended till you reach next month and your monthly quota is reset to full again. 5GB I believe is a very decent amount and will take an average consumer a good lot of time to exhaust. We haven't received any complaints about bandwidth - none that I can remember. -
Have You Heard Of The Blue-ray
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to bash18's topic in Science and Technology
Okay here's the thing: When you post stuff that you copy from other sites, you NEED to put that material between QUOTE tags - as I did for you above. Also along with that, you need to put the Source Website from where you copied that article from - the link needs to be direct, i.e. one should be able to access the article with a single click. If the source isn't mentioned, it is assumed that you're trying to copy someone else's work and trying to pass it off as your own - which in other words is Plagiarism. If you're found plagiarising, you receive a very strong warning here. Since in every case - you DID MENTION the source of the article, you weren't accused of direct plagiarism. But even in that case, you forgot to enclose the articles between QUOTE tags - which brings us to the second point. The copied material has to be mandatorily enclosed between QUOTE tags. It is very important to do this, as our Credits System evaluates your article based on inclusion of such tags and grants you the appropriate amount of credits to you. In case you omit the QUOTE tags, the system is fooled into believing that the entire article is your original work and grants you a lot more points - which is unfair. In such cases, the whole credits you'd earned for the post are deducted from your account. This is exactly what I meant by "Reducing hosting credits by xxx". These are two very important points you always got to keep on mind while posting here. Abuse of these rules invariably leads to Warnings and too much abuse earns a ban. As I said earlier - the favourable point in your case was you mentioned the source in every case. So you were excused from the strong warnings. But you lost out on those points since you failed to include the copied parts in QUOTE tags. Hope this clears up things for you. Any further queries, post back and I'll get back to you. Regards, m^e -
Oooh poor ebbinger - I feel sorry for him. All he's got is a blast from everyone But dude, seriously, you need to cut down on the graphics or split it up into several smaller graphics, which can load faster individually. Simply arrange them in a table format so they add up to form your bigger picture. That way the load time will be less as it won't be loading ONE HUGE PIC.

Ok this needs some clarification. You can safely delete all other files and folders EXCEPT the following: Files beginning with a "." .cpanel-datastore - cPanel stores the config info for various functions you perform through it .htpasswds - Prevents un-authorized users from view the directory .trash - The trash - you deleted files through cPanel File Manager land up here .contactemail - Addressbook data (most likely) .contactsavetime - Logs .lastlogin - Logs for last login info Folders etc - Anything extra - this dir is pretty much needed for various config data and scripts mail - Logs your mail actions as well as you actual mails are stored in here public_ftp - The directory users will see if they login to your sites ftp anonymously public_html - What users see when they visit your URL tmp - Used for storage of temporary files generated during the operation of various scripts - similar to the Windows TEMP directory. www - This is actually NOT a folder but a symbolic link which points to your public_html folder. So any file operation you perform on this happens on your public_html You shouldn't delete the above files/folders at any cost. As for .fantasticodata - it stores information about scripts that you install through Fantastico. If you don't use fantastico at all, this file is unnecessary and can be deleted without any harm. You'll find a bunch of files+folders with the _vi prefix or extension - those are for Frontpage extensions - which none of us use (hopefully). So even those can be deleted without any hitch. If you got questions about any other folders, do post back - but the ones above in the list are quite necessary.

Hey guys, ????[/tab]hulunes from Xisto had started a similar topic out there - on boasting your collectibles.. I found it quite an interesting thread and thought of starting one here too. This will serve as a good introductory thread for newbies to get to know the hobbies of other members and tell us about their own as well. [tab]If you have that collector's spirit in you and have built up a decent collection of anything under the sun and the moon, feel free to share your story with us Here's what I collect / used to collect: Stamps Coins & also Currency Notes Antique Software Telephone Cards from different countries Small statuettes of Lord Ganesha (the elephant headed Hindu God) - I got well over 300 different statuettes of Him. Had a sizable collection of butterflies & moths, but gave up a few years back as it was getting incresingly difficult to maintain in absence of spare time. A massive collection of Psychedelic & Goa Trance tracks (MP3s) spanning well over 40GB at this moment - all tracks being at least 160KBps encoded - and ever increasing. That's all I can recall at this moment - I've always been into collecting stuff (since childhood) and am sure there are more weird collections lurking around in every nook and corner of my home. WHAT'S YOURS ? Regards, miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG

Pictures Of The Sky ...

IF it isn't for professional use, I'd say she should go for a Sony Cybershot. I recommend the model I'd used to shoot the pictures of my trip in Northern India - http://forums.xisto.com/topic/85928-topic/?findpost=1064317551 The model number is DSC-P200 and it can shoot upto 7.2MegaPixels, which is damned good for the price I got it at. Cost me about Rs. 15,500 /- or USD $360. While it still screws up pictures shot in near-dark situations, the ones in moderately lit and bright sunlight are simply awesome. Infact, for most part I didn't even use the 7.2MP mode. 5MP was good enough for me. It's got a Carl-Zeiss ED lens with upto 3X Optical Zoom and a very decent sized LCD Screen. The camera itself is quite compact and runs about 3 hours of continuous shooting before the juice gives out. The juice wears off faster if the inbuilt flash is used. There's Video mode to it too - but I prefer to use my DVD-Rec based Video Cam for it. But remember one thing - even at 5MP your Memory Cards will get exhausted real fast. I was able to get about 21-25 shots on each card at that resolution. I always have a bunch (4-5) of spare sticks ready, so it wasn't really a problem for me. Functionality, features and ease-of-use wise I'd say this one's a very good camera for beginners (it also sports a total newbie point-and-click mode). -
Hi folks, ????[/tab]Do you know of any good and free software that'll take a given .swf/.fla flash animation and spit out the corresponding animated .gif file ?? Or even frame-by-frame .gif output will do, coz I can then use a gif animator on it. I found this software called AdShareit ( http://www.adshareit.com/ ) - which claims to do the job, but it's commercial and in it's trial edition it puts this ugly watermark and X mark across the output. [tab]If you come across any free one that'll do the job, please let me know. Thanks in advance Regards, m^e

Seems like they went out of business for good... lol.. I was browsing Xisto and came upon this discussion regarding the sudden demise of realwebtalk. The thread can be found here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/31855-topic/ And then I checked up with their site - it just turns up entirely blank. No content. All it has is this 4-5 line of HTML code. <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> </body> </html>

Firefox Doesn't Seem To Like It this line of code
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Avalon's topic in Web Hosting Support
It's not a problem with Firefox.. rather it's a small mistake in a certain block of JavaScript code that's embedded in this page. If you do View Source you'll notice this codeblock towards the end of the page: <script language="javascript"><!--// must go at the bottom of the pageif (document.getElementById('contextclick') ) {str = '<script src="http://impact.contextclick.com/';str = str+'hits/html_requests.php?site_id=';str = str+'70&profile_id=45"></script>';window.document.write(str);}// --></script> Ideally, the starting <script language="javascript"> tag should be terminated by the ending </script> tag in the last line. But if you notice carefully - the color matched ending tag occurs in the second last line within the if () {} block:str = str+'70&profile_id=45"></script>'; Hence the part after that: window.document.write(str);}// --> - isn't being recognized as a part of the script and is being spitted out on the page. I wonder why though - coz, the single and double quotes are all properly matched up. -
Then again many such Ad Providers allow you to filter out certain ads from being displayed on your site (based on keywords). This facility is there so that your competitors ads don't land up on your website... Maybe if this issue is brought up with OpaQue he can block out such ads.
