  1. Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin It works and will be less biased than a government website. And regarding the elections, McCain will win, just because he's not black. However much support there seems to be for Obama, something tells me people's racial stereotypes will kick in at the last minute. But then I'm not American so I wouldn't know really
  2. How To Extract The Audio From YouTube Videos This lovely simple tutorial will tell you how to extract the audio from YouTube videos. Obviously, I am not in any way advocating that you take copyrighted music that is available illegally in video-form on YouTube and extract the audio from those videos rather than going down to HMV and buying the music. In this tutorial I will be using the following video: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Firstly, you download the video, which is simple. Just go to http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/ and paste the video URL into the text box. Follow the instructions and save the file as myvid.flv. Now you have a relatively useless .flv file, from which you will extract the audio. To do this, you will need a truly amazing program called AOA Audio Extractor. Just run the file through the program and it will produce an MP3. Just to prove this process works, here's the audio from the above video. myvid.mp3 Happy YouTubing!
  3. Fair enough I seem to have strengthened my stance a little in order to prove my point Unfortunately, that's the price you have to pay for good, clean energy. Nuclear power is the only way forward - there's lots of U-235 left and it's totally reliable, whereas solar power, for instance, isn't. Nuclear power It's right the vast majority of the time and I'd more than happy if you were to make a point, quoting information from there.
  4. Wikipedia begs to differ. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Then, that makes you as stupid as the people who believe everything the government say.
  5. Then, don't use ethanol. Nuclear power I don't like wind farms either. Nuclear power Again, you're using single areas of the world. It won't be the end of the world but it'll make life difficult. Obviously, if the public shows a decreasing interest in plastic bags, WalMart will buy fewer, buying us more time to find alternatives to oil etc... Well, no one really knows when this happen, although it'll be 100s if not 1,000s of years from now. The effects of global warming are far more imminent.
  6. Agreed Nuclear power is the way forward, global warming or no global warming. All these silly little off-shore wind farms can barely make enough electricity to power a small town, let alone a whole city.
  7. No I don't. And the fact that it's not 100oF in Texas leads you to believe that global warming is not happening is, well, stupid. True, I am a bit sceptic about the whole thing but we shall see in a few decades time and something tells the people who researched this all in detail are correct. Your "evidence" is that you don't feel that as a race we (yes, that includes non-Americans) can influence the world's CLIMATE and that the WEATHER this summer suggests cooler temperatures. (Note: Weather and climate are two totally different things.) Just because we might be on the end of an Ice Age, it doesn't mean that we are having no effect, it means that we are a contributing factor. Although, you are more than welcome to write up a report to the contrary. If you're going to base your decisions on a series of unjustifiable hunches and feelings like this, I suggest you consider taking up a religion.
  8. No. So you don't make 2,000 credits and then not come back for 2,000 days. Obviously, it's better if you keep coming back every few days so you stay up-to-date with all the latest developments etc... So you get x% of the credits gained in total by the repliers. That sounds pretty complicated to me, not to mention the fact it will encourage people to link-drop their own topics (ie spam). The key to a good system, in my mind, is to keep it simple so I have no new ideas. On a side note, how did you manage to start a new topic in this forum? Even I can't do that
  9. No, I know too. I guarantee you China will win. Since you made your post, they have won five more gold medals whereas the USA have won no more. The gap is widening and it will take a huge effort on the USA's part to gain a significant lead.
  10. I'll be watching the highlights as there's so much on I can't decide which games are worth the watch. And when I say there's a lot on, there is: 6am - 4.30pm are taken up for the Olympics on a non-sports channel. Do they have nothing better to show? Apparently, we stand quite a good chance in swimming but I don't know. We have a track record of not being very good at sports. Then, of course, there's the opening ceremony, which was spectacular! We've got a lot to live up to when we open the Olympic Stadium in five year's time...(am from the UK, btw)
  11. I have a friend who went to Canada and he can't wait until he can go back again. He couldn't fault his time there at all. Hope you have a similarly good time!
  12. Wow. I had a look at that one, expecting the wallpaper to be the burning of the crucifix or something to that effect. It's not. It looks more hell-themed than Satanist, perfect for Hallowe'en with no serious religious messages; there are even links to Christian and Muslim distributions on their website! I have to admit, the wallpapers that come with it are bloody brilliant. The time and effort that must have gone into this one (X) edit: btw, no I'm not a Satanist.
  13. But they do. Why do you think all topics in this forum are given a name in the following format.. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/59645-naming-web-page-files-which-way-you-like-mypagehtml-or-my-pagehtml-or-my-pagehtml/ ... rather than just ... http://forums.xisto.com/topic/59645-naming-web-page-files-which-way-you-like-mypagehtml-or-my-pagehtml-or-my-pagehtml/ ... as the case is with most forums. The answer is because URLs matter and this helps Xisto move up in the search engine's results list. Google "naming web page files Xisto" and parts of the URL will be bold, indicating that Google has used the URL as part of the search criteria.
  14. The browser does look disappointingly similar to IE6: Which is almost enough to put me off using it. Coupled with the fact there are few plugins, I think I'll forgo downloading a copy. The sole reason why I'm currently using Firefox at the moment is the vast range of plugins on offer. Another thing I noticed was that the language has suffered a bit in translation. Although this is more of an annoyance than anything serious, I'm quite petty about poor English and having to face it almost every day when I'm using the Internet would probably drive me mad QFT. It will be interesting to see if they do catch up but I doubt I'll ever hear from them again. If this is Japan's most popular browser, it's quite interesting to think that the West is quite far ahead of a country you associate with being very technologically advanced.
  15. 0.7 credits a word sounds pretty generous to me. Your post alone would be enough to get you Package 1 and another post like it, Package 2. Anyway, to be more helpful, writing short tutorials will get you more credits than making short replies to posts. Including images in those tutorials will also help you increase your credits.
  16. My name is also on the moon. Although, I'm not sure why NASA are paying so much money to send a spacecraft up to the moon with a microchip containing people's names on it. It sounds more like a novelty than anything that bears any real importance.
  17. Yay - I'm on there! Hooray for being the youngest...
  18. To elaborate on KansukeKojima's point, when you are hosted you lose credits by 1 per day and you need to keep posting to maintain enough credits so that your account is not suspended. 185 credits buys you 6 months when you don't have to post.
  19. http://www.treehugger.com/ With that, every US citizen can now stop complaining.
  20. Obviously the viewers of the content or even those who uploaded it aren't going to be jailed. It's more that the log serves as evidence of how many copyrighted clips there are on YouTube and how many people are watching them, because, let's face it, YouTube's nothing without the copyrighted videos. They might, at the very most, prosecute the big law-breakers but they won't go any further - it's simply not economical to take all these people to court.
  21. As part of their battle with Google, a US court has ruled that Google must hand over the viewing habits of every user of YouTube to Viacom. This will include the log-in ID of users, IP addresses and video-clip details. Whilst the two companies involved are based in the USA, it is believed that details of users from all over the world will be divulged. Considering that there are over 83 million videos on YouTube and about 500,000 users, I wish the person in charge of sifting through this information "good luck". Whilst some would call this one of the greatest invasions of privacy ever, the chance that this action could come back and haunt you (i.e. they see your illegal viewing habits and sue you) are a million-to-one as it's Google's fault for letting you host and view the material. How do you feel about your details being handed over? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7488009.stm
  22. But it never will. The majority of people who use the Internet use it once in a few days for a few hours each time. These people couldn't care less how standards-compliant the browser is and if the browser is easy to test on. Despite Firefox and Opera being very well-known, IE still has 83% of the market share - something Firefox developers can only dream of. Firefox's share of the market is almost certainly capped at 25 - 30%. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Because IE6 users represent a good 30% of your clients. To not do so would turn away business. Possibly. I think it's more that the average IE6 user does not care enough about browsing the Internet to want to upgrade to IE7. Many get upgraded by force when they buy a new computer.
  23. It will be dead in about 2 years probably. If you look back into the past, you'll see that IE6 was released in August 2001, yet, according to w3schools, IE5 maintained a significant market share (10%) until November 2004, over three years later: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/default.asp So if you apply that to today, testing on IE6 should cease just over three years after IE7's release, which is in early 2010.
  24. Happy birthday! There should be an England Day - free day off school ;)
  25. Good. Hopefully, they'll make the PS4 a bit cheaper than the PS3. The PS 1/2 were about ?150 - ?200 when they were released. Over one year on, it's still ?300 to buy a PS3 (plus ?40 - ?45 / game). I don't have that sort of money lying around (and nor do a lot of other people).... Another soul lost to Linux We're praying for you...
