Well, I would advise never fighting except if it really involves something more than money-products-things...For example, there was a girl in Salonica who was attacked by a thief, snatching her purse...She tried to stop him and he pulled a bottle of vitriol (highly corrosive acid) that burned her whole face and disabled her eyes....Just for a single purse...An albanian tried to help her and was damaged also....So, if it just involves an idiotic cellphone, just forget about it...Not worth the potential damage to oneself.

You'd like to live in Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn ? Where ? In the green areas of the world that haven't been destroyed yet by Tiberium ? :PWell, I'd like something fantasy-like, to final fantasy is my best bet...I wouldn't say no to football manager...I'm too good a manager to refuse

Google personalised home is my favourite feature as it encompasses everything I do. Whenever I get an email it's shown there, whenever there are news or articles for me, I see them in rss, whenever I want to find something I search google and whenever I wanna send a free sms I do it from there also....What else do I need from Google ? Well, it could help me get laid more often than usual.

Ok, you're all talking about Diablo, a game that had a great addictive sequel...What about us, Starcraft fans ? I've been waiting for ten (!) years for a sequel...I don't even ask for great graphics anymore, just the advancement of one of the greatest storylines in the history of gaming...And you people, hypocrites, asking for a second sequel :PBtw, is it my thought or whatever Blizzard makes just becomes an instant classic ?

Google Antivirus And Firewall. Will It Ever Happen!
johnsmith replied to Dell970's topic in Search Engines
Well, deals can be broken.I for one expect Google to rise in power over time (as it has over the last couple of years) and really develop into a megacorp involved in everything....Maybe then it will lose its user-friendliness and become a corporation we will really love to hate...It's a paradox that so many people love Google really.Apart from its services, it's still a corporation which has the objective to maximize its cash flow... Like loving the supermarket because of the quality fish they sell. -
Don't you think that we're just goin' 3 steps further without even touching the more basic deals of the recycling/garbage ... I mean, we all know the billion tons of garbage the world is producing, the matter of the distribution of the garbage, the way our consumer lives are destroying the environment directly (as opposed to the indirect construction because of the chemical and other industries)... The thing is....well, instead of trying to find a solution to the things the problem causes, we should stop the problem... Instead of trying to find ways to remove the trash, the countries should start concentrating on how to reduce the amount of trash we produce...Recycling is still not a tech we use properly. I won't even start to tell the problems about recycling and its improper use. I conclude saying that we, as a human civilization, still see the tree, and can't see the whole forest...

I guess that my favourites would be soccer and martial arts. Soccer, well, you gotta respect it. It's the biggest sporting event worldwide, and matches, especially the ones between big and skilled teams are quite a sight to behold (especially European championships or the World Cup). Regarding Martial Arts, I have started watching K1 and Vale Tudo championships as of late, and they are very interesting and gripping, albeit violent, sports. Worth checking if you are not of the faint-hearted, or despise violence (which is abundant in both). The level of technique, the fitness, the speed and strength of the participants, are really something to watch... trust me, you'll be hooked when really get the grip of the sport! Well... the future does sound rather bleak, wouldnt you agree? The thing is that, yes, indeed, the environment is deteriorating at an alarming pace, and that global state and industrial indifference is simply shocking. It seems like people are sort of hoping that technology, and relative self-restraint, are going to solve the problem sometime in the future, so that now we can pollute all we want without any worries and guilt.Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do so far (in terms of policy making, a power that belongs -sigh- to the ones actually pushing the earth to its limits). However, each and every one of us CAN push the scales a little.I mean, we can all join an environmental group, or increasingly watch the way we dump our waste or the kind of waste we produce. Also, let's not forget, that ALL of us (at least over 18, that is) can change the way that we VOTE, and we can still vote against governments that are NOT environment friendly. Sounds dumb? It's not, it's a great start, and unfortunately, most people don't even realise how strong the vote is.Do it. Your vote can be an indispensable ally in helping save the environment. Don't just abstain- vote for the green guy [well, DO check other parts of his agenda as well ].

Invisible Childen (uganda) They Need Your Help
johnsmith replied to Plenoptic's topic in General Discussion
Great post, Plenoptic. Indeed, life in Uganda is probably not the best there is right now and a lot of children and adults suffer because of the conflict right now. But to be honest with you, I don't know how much moves like bracelet-selling might actually work or make a difference for these kids down there. I am really afraid that this horrendous situation is going to walk down the path of Rwanda, a neighbouring region, where atrocities known to all took place in 1994, and where Western indifference was once again manifested. The situation in Uganda is not as dismal, but shares some crucial similarities; a ) it takes place in the Great Lakes region, an area of indifference to say the least to Western countries, b ) it is a fight that can easily be dismissed, as was Rwanda's, as a struggle among ethnic groups, and therefore one that Ugandans will resolve among themselves, and c ) it has been going on, in varying degrees, for years, and has never once been seriously considered as worthy of some sort of intervention by the UN and relevant authorities. Under these conditions, I highly doubt that even a small portion of the proceeds from the bracelets will ever reach the kids; if the rebels are able to penetrate the camps and abduct children, do you think that stealing money, medicine, and food that these bracelets buy will be harder, or more of a moral concern? The solution, as it always is in these cases, is international awareness and action, not in the fashion of Iraq, where intervention made things even worse, but in an informal and more economy-orientated manner that could marginalise these rebel groups, strengthen the state and democracy in countries like Uganda, and help shape a better future for these children. Moves like the aforementioned documentary greatly help increase awareness among Western populations, but unless this awareness is transformed in official intergovernmental action, life in Uganda will remain just as bleak. Some additional info on the Ugandan conflict, the "world's worst forgotten crisis" if one can really distinguish among crises, and Uganda in general: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/what-we-do http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uganda -
Is Homosexuality Right Or Wrong? your views
johnsmith replied to wakelim's topic in General Discussion
It's becoming increasingly stupid to judge peoples' choices based on your ideals. It's wasn't EVER right or wrong, not now and not 5000 years ago. Humans can choose their own path and they don't have to give a s**t about anyone since they do not harm anyone.First it is homosexuality, then it is the right to vote, then it will be something else...Just an idiotic circle created and trully based on idiotic people. -
I'll definitely say Dune 2...Remember the strategy game that "Taught" people to create strategy games ?Well, this game is far the most difficult I've encountered...Primarily, because the controls sucked at that time, you could only use one unit at a time....Secondly, you had to create these concrete blocks each time you wanted to build a building...Daaamn, I still hate that game

What's Your Favorite Kind Of Food?
johnsmith replied to ElBandoneonWEbsite's topic in Health & Fitness
Maybe if you travelled to Greece, you know the greek Souvlaki (Gyros), the famous dish which can be found in every corner...Well, that is really the best food I can think of right now, still....This is the health and fitness section so the souvlaki will neither make you healthy or fit ;)So, I'd recommend a greek salad...You know how great the mediterranean food is ! -
What Would You Do If There Was No Internet? hmm...
johnsmith replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
Oh man, I couldn't have lived perfectly without my Internet. It's not only the massive online games and the surfing I'm worried about (Personally, I don't play any mmorpgs)...It's the whole deal of finding something quickly and effectively. Just think how important wikipedia has become in our lives, be it student or not. -
The Fastest Browser nice study has been done
johnsmith replied to heavensounds's topic in The Internet
Well, IE has tabbed browsing with its new version so that's not a reason anymore. Spyware is still a problem but is more controllable in the new version too. I still believe that even though Opera is faster than anything else, nobody really cares except the 56k cavemen guys ;)I mean, I've got a 4mbps, why would I care if it loads 500 milliseconds faster ?In my opinion, the plugin setup of Firefox wins. Not caring about the speed, you could have tons of different useful plugins that play a major role in ..real speed....Personally, I've got a myspace plugin, a youtube plugin, a gmail plugin, a ftp plugin so...why in heck would I ever want Opera ? -
Megaupload Reduced Their Download Limit Again! [resolved]
johnsmith replied to DogEater008's topic in General Discussion
I think that megaupload bites the dust compared to the MEGA - Rapidshare (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). I always catch my maximum speed using rapidshare's servers (2mbps) and the servers have everything you'd ever want (nothing illegal of course )...Still, I think Xisto file upload service would fail, especially because of the competition....You can't expect them to win a battle against corporations that have been so much established. -
Well, the site is as simple as one can be and nothing special really. At least, it doesn't look ugly but I won't remember its design tomorrow either. Maybe some more graphics or use of flash would change the perspective but still, maybe you had the simplicity in mind when you were creating it. At least, it looks natural enough. But I do have to criticize its basis and its purpose. I mean, will people look for your site, to look for what, reviews and links ? Internet badly needs some reinvention and some neoteric ideas and material. I would advise you to find one instead of losing time with this project...Of course, I'm not here to criticize anyone's work... For all I know, it may become more succesful than google but I still feel the need to urge you to find something which will actually involve people getting interested in...Just ask this question, would you bookmark it ?Ps. Maybe I'm wrong

Ipb-phpbb Or Vbulletin What do you prefer.
johnsmith replied to zak92's topic in Science and Technology
First of all, it's been a while since i have used those systems and I don't know what has changed in their latest versions (so sorry If what I write has been fixed). You'll find that the support offered to vbulletin users from the official site is superb and better than the one offered for ipb users... Plus, I think that the plugin system (and maybe the admin system) on vbulletin is easier ...As for IPB, people, especially newbies like me, don't and can't have the luxury to change the codes and mods each time the forum has an upgrade...Still, I think that ipb fora usually feel a bit more professional and "tidy" than those of of vb.Overall, I prefer Vbulletin or maybe phpbb which is ...(the magic word) free... You know that modding phpbb you can have anything the other two have... If I was in your place, I would search other fora too for more opinions, try both forums in trial-versions (especially the admin section) and then decide...Oh, something that you should never forget, in the end, it doesn't matter what board you have. If your forum is full of junk, with uninteresting users, idiotic threads, submenus, categories....you will probably fail...Care about your community more than you care for what board you'll use. -
How To Make A Dot.tk Domain Redirect To Your Site!
johnsmith replied to sweetescape's topic in Programming
Plus, it's one way for some cms's to work with the register/login features....Usually, when only the tk domain appears, they have problems (at least phpnuke and mambo in previous versions had)...Still, a very nice function...Btw, does Tk still let you disable the advertisments or is the *dream dead* ? -

Stephen Hawking Plans To Go To Outerspace In 2009
johnsmith replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Science and Technology
Sometimes a man has to do what he has to do...Everybody has a dream and won't really rest till they see it accomplished...I think that's the deal with this trip. Instead of asking what he can't do, let's wonder what he CAN and WILL do... ;p -
Well at least Europe (and even Russia !) has signed the already not-so-important Kyoto Protocol...The only industrial country remaining is OF COURSE, USA...President Bush had opposed the tactic of Bill Clinton, opposing the treaty claiming that it would destroy America's economy....And then people wonder why the whole world hates, dislikes this country :P4 percent of the world population in USA, 25 percent of carbon dioxide produced there...What a pleasure of statistical studies.Well, now, seriously, apart from the treaty not being accepted by all countries, it is also somewhat expired....Even IF Usa accepts it later, which things going like they are right now, we're doomed like it or not...This last winter is only a prelude of what will happen in the NEAR future...Bears not sleeping is only a scratch of the whole auto-genocidal tendencies of our great human civilisation...No bright star-trek future guyz, sorry...
