Why The Pope Shouldn't Visit Turkey? To all turkishs
johnsmith replied to alexviii's topic in General Discussion
Hi Alex, The people you heard about, protesting about, and not wanting the Pope's arrival, are Muslim extremists and Turkish nationalists, unfortunately a rising force in Turkey (always according to the Press and personal Turkish acquaintances I have, as I havent actually been there myself to check it out ). These are preparing and instigating massive Muslim riots (see for example http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) because of various agendas with the Pope. Firstly the Pope is going to Constantinople to meet with the Istanbul based spiritual head of the Orthodox Cristians (numbering 250 approximately), and this is an issue that many Turkish Islamists view with disdain, and even suspicion. The meeting of two christian leaders even sounds a bit threatening to some. As writer Mustafa Akyol puts it: "It's a kind of preemptive intolerance: Don't let it flourish because it might take over. Everyone is afraid of something." (see http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). Secondly, don't forget the Pope's infamous remark about Muslims some months ago, attributing the spread of Islam to war and blood spilling (see for that http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) that outraged a lot of them. This is a very strong reason that many people over there don't want him to visit Turkey, as they consider that he has insulted them. This may sound of course crazy to you, but for these people its a very important issue. And judging from the fact that a priest was killed in Turkey some time ago in protest to the pope's remark, they must be very, very unhappy. Hope that was helpful. -
Hi again and thank you for your answers...Unfortunately, that google search you mentioned was already done by me...The results are nearly all of magazines for design and not the other way round, nor they contain all the information I want....Still, your help has been valuable. Thank you and I hope that anything else you find will be posted here...

Apple Ipod Vs. Microsft Mp3 Player
johnsmith replied to brandon10092's topic in Science and Technology
The only good thing I can see from all this scenario is that they'll lower the damn prices...At last, something that can antagonize Ipods and make them lower their prices for the sake of not losing their market share...I mean, I don't really know a lot of people who do have the money to buy the last version...Plus, it's gonna mean that more money will be put for research and thus we'll get new features, better features in less time...I have to wonder, how much money will be put to advertise this stuff... -
Looking For New Phone I need an opinion to get a new mobile
johnsmith replied to rldowling03's topic in Mobile Phones
Even though I'm a lover of nokia phones, even I persuaded myself that Sony-Ericsson now rules the game...Their mobile phones, have an unparalleled power for music if you're thinking of buying a music mobile phone...For example, the Sony Ericsson W900i is a 3g phone, has 470 mb of internal memory and the ability to expand it through a memory stick duo, has a megabass option for better music (it's just a good equaliser, that is), has 256 (or 262k, I don't remember) colours, has a camera of 2 megapixels with an autofocus option, usb, bluetooth, infrared, and when it makes a connection to the pc, it's flexible and SOOOOOOO easy-to-use-and-share (it appears as a mass storage device)...On the downside, it costs much and weights a bit more than usually...If you don't like this phone particularly, I urge you to see the other phones of the W series....See ya man -
Ok, maybe not collecting your zip code, which even if it was applicable, would only mean our American buddies...Really, Google doesn't have no need of my zip code in Greece....even the one I have in Spain...Still, I really think that there's a collection-database where they are collecting ad-sensitive information, for example, what ads you click, what preferences you have...And that's common news...Unfortunately, even If we want to believe that way, internet is not thaaat anonymous as we would like to think...Especially for the people who know how it works and have the knowledge and tools to build....tools-again that can penetrate any system...(No matter how evolved, secure it is)

Selling Domain Names But Where? domain names for money
johnsmith replied to leusmith's topic in Business Forum
Other sites where you could sell your domains are : https://auctions.godaddy.com/ https://sedo.com/search/?auctionevent=GreatDomains https://sedo.com/us/ Another useful site may be the http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ... Finally, maybe there's a chance you could sell it through ebay ? Even though I don't know if that's practical and can be done. -
Halo 3 Commercial & Screenshot... Also New Maps
johnsmith replied to TeeCee06's topic in Computer Gaming
Well... i checked out the Halo 3 pics at the IGN website (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) and i have to say that I was not as amazed as Bungie would like me to be .I have to add however that these images are in no way indicative of the final product, and therefore we cannot make any definite judgments YET. Regarding RaiderX303's comment finally: man, did u consider that the weapon might take so much screen space because it sorta kicked back in the particular screen? There would be no sense in making weapons this big now, would there? -
The most logical decision is that fighting should be used as a last resort and only as the last course of action when everything else fails...And especially when there is nothing wrong in a situation, should you really have to do anything ?It's quite illogical to base real facts on anime anyway...

Yeah, I totally agree that this background is just great but yet again, he appears kinda evil/malefic which is not how I would best describe him from the idiotic movies I don't like :blink:The face looks good with the effect you gave him...Is the red background a photoshop brush ?One thing I don't like very much is the colour of the font... I don't know, it just appears a little ...too different from the rest of the picture. Maybe it's just me...Generally great job...

I was thinking of creating a team to make a weekly magazine (electronic and paper) but still, I don't have any resources nor any experience about this area. I wanted to ask what sizes do you think it should be. What size is the pocket-size magazine that I see ? Also, what dpi is most suitable for this kind of work ? Only vector graphics should be used ? ....Also, what programs do you think are the best for this job, Adobe InDesign (which I have but never worked)? Thanks in advance.

"What is the best? Cm06/07 or Fm06/07 ?I will buy one in the next week"Naturally, FM is much better. Its content and features and everything is top notch...If you bought cm then you did one bad purchase...Plus, the new version are here :CM 06/07FM 2007Fifa Manager 2007Btw, fifa manager is not bad but still not as good as FM in any way.

My Site-i Think Its Finished any tips?
johnsmith replied to MusicOnly's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I kinda liked the site...It's simple and efficient the way I like it....But others may not find that state of emptiness that much great...Still, the site naturally is missing its content....Till it is full with it, it's hard to rate anything more...Also what cms is that ?Ps. The logo could have been a little better. -
Just for the record :

Dvd Shrink is still the no.1 program with its high-quality compression, its easy-to-use interface and its flexibility (not to mention it is free).Copyright laws differ from country to country...You may have a problem if you like in specific countries were the law is ...inflexible and in my opinion quite idiotic...You can also buy the double-layer dvd's. Even though the normal ones are pretty much cheaper, you won't have to compress the dvd, losing quality.
-
Even though this may really differ the position, don't forget that, for the most part, google counts the referral links. If your site, news, url is being used, posted and talked about a lot, you'll surely get the advantage. (same way google bombing works)

Hey man, I created 4 of the banners you asked...I hope they suit you...If you like them but you'd like something changed just pm me or post it here... Heere they go : For backup I also uploaded it to rapidshare.com : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Btw, don't mind me if you don't like them.

Can Anyone Suggest A Good Firewall? Need a firewall for my old PC.
johnsmith replied to gameratheart's topic in Software
I've tried many of the commercial firewalls... I kinda liked Zone Alarm till it caused some problems to my pc, not mentioning some sensitive ports not being protected by the program... The firewall I really like and using now is the one given by the Mcafee Internet Security Suite...Of course, the antivirus made my pc be soooo sluggish so I uninstalled it leaving the firewall in place... Still, it's one of the few "programs" that haven't caused me a single problem....yet -
"rock is just ppl who like chains and skulls"All I'm really understanding from your replies is all these false ideas that were created in the past"Each genre of music has something to say...to all kinds and groups of people...Rock and rap, having so many sub-categories (or sub-genres if you will) can't be described only by 2-3 sentences...Btw, hmn, have you ever been in a hardcore rap live ? Have you ever listened to any quality rock/metal bands ? Ts ts ts...

I've got a 6230...Don't really know what's the deal with buying all the latest cellphones..In Greece, it's a freaking madness with mobile phone sells being 4,5,6 times the population...If they hadn't have so many problems, I would still own my 3310
-
I downloaded it and tested it thoroughly...Even though this edition is muuuch better than the previous (1.5.something) one, it still has some minor problems, most probably not noticeable if you don't push it to the limits...Unfortunately, many of my add-ons don't work but it's not that much of a problem to wait some days...Don't know about you, but firefox still teaches Internet explorer (7) a lesson or two

Hadi, different countries usually have different general opinions about people...In Greece for example people are very friendly with every religion and every country...We still are deeply sorry about the destruction in Lebanon (hospitals, water pumping stations, schools, convoys of migrating people...), in Palestine (complete utter destruction with the help of NATO and USA). We are still very friendly with everyone, be it muslim or christian as many may well know...Still, racism exists with our neighbours. Most people are extremely racist with Albanians (because a large group of them has caused numerous problems, plus all those immigrants get jobs with a very small salary). Generalising, as always causes more problems, especially social ones...And again, most people dislike the american government (not the people, the government) because of all the things they have done to the world, coup d'etats, killings, mass destruction, mass murders etc etc...Things are in generally like that in every country... People find someone to hate...For its latest victim and for another reason to possibly attack Iran, Muslims are a target...
