  1. @Boozker- I once had someone tell me that public nudity should stay illegal because it went against his religion (Christianity), and after I pointed out several verses from both Old and New Testaments which involved public nudity being a-OK, and finding not a single one that condemned it, he still insisted. Some people just like to feel that all their personal opinions are supported by their "big guy in the sky", because in their eyes, that makes them infallible. Lots of times they'll "get away" with just making stuff up as they go, because come on, the Bible is so huge and contradictory that other people on the street can't rule it out unless they have the whole thing memorized.
  2. We (my "eboyfriend" and I) are right around the 1 year mark right now... not as impressive I know but the distance is quite a bit (~7500km) so we haven't yet had the opportunity to even meet. Good luck to the both of you.
  3. Sounds like a hilarious story to embarrass your future kids with when they bring their boyfriends over for dinner. :]Or you could just dump a girl every time you happen to get embarrassed around her, until you're 43 and alone, at which point you realize that it was silly to throw away perfectly good relationships over silly stuff like that. Y'know, whatever floats your boat.
  4. My school district board once threatened to suspend a friend of mine because she refused to get the tetanus shot. Indefinitely (i.e., until she agreed to get it). This was despite the handout sent home that said we had a legal right to opt out if we didn't like the risks. It's a pretty stupid policy, especially since it interferes with our rights (well, the rights recognized in Canada, dunno about other places). That being said, I don't think vaccines themselves are really that risky... the worst reaction I've heard or seen recently in my area was a bit of sore muscle after the tetanus shots, and as a school of 800, we've gotten a shot for something every 1 1/2 years or so for the last six years. Though they do inject the virus, its a benign or weak strain that just helps your own body to build up some antibodies. If my school offered the cervical cancer vaccine, I would be more than happy to take it. That being said, its still a personal choice, and I don't think its appropriate for the school to mandate that, especially for a non-contagious disease.
  5. Some girls look better with a bald head, Sinead O'Connor being the most obvious example of that (gawd she looks bad with hair). Considering that most of Britney's pictures are taken in better lighting, with airbrushing, pro makeup artists and hairstylists, etc, than these ones, this might be the case here. She still looks pretty to me, despite a lack of all the aforementioned "beauty tools". So yeah, I approve of her new cut. Though she's undoubtedly still nuts, with all that private-flashing, baby-risking other stuff she's been up to.
  6. I'll stick with the occasional ibuprofen to kill pain instead... this sort of seems to me like you'd just be raising your risk of one thing (stomach problems) while lowering another.
  7. Most of the fonts are one or two sizes too big, and its probably a good idea if you put each of your games on seperate pages.... it's sort of harsh to have to download 3+ flash files to play one of the games, and if you're going to be adding more to the site... you get the picture. I dunno if freewebs supports PHP, but it would be pretty easy to make a script that serves up one at a time (saves you from making a seperate HTML file for each).
  8. You can run WHOIS on IPs as well, though this will just tell you the person's ISP company (or organization, if its a school/work computer).
  9. If you click on "testrun" below the screenshot, you can actually use the site (this was what musiconly was originally trying to post, i assume). It's a really cute "layout" idea, I like it quite a bit.
  10. Oh jeez, as if it wasn't bad enough that these credit companies go and recruit college kids... credit companies don't offer anything but the ability to either raise your credit (if you're responsible), or totally destroy it and get stuck paying huge interest rates til the end of eternity. I would just use cash and/or debit; there's really not much benefit to giving someone 7-30% just for the privilege of spending money you should already have. Emergency cards, sure- if they're used for actual emergencies (i.e. house burns down or you lost a poker game and Vinny's coming after you with a ball peen hammer; a dress or CD is not an emergency ).
  11. I agree, unless you learn best by reading, or can read long, sometimes complex, stretches of text and comprehend it 100%, its probably not the best place to start out. Its a good site in that it won't teach you how do to anything improperly (since they make the standards and all), and is a solid reference if you just need to look something up, but I wouldn't use it if I were just starting out. Tizag is my favorite place for these sorts of tutorials, but I haven't looked at some of the other sites already mentioned, so they may be better.
  12. What's even weirder is when you your your original dream pops back into your head a few moments before, so you know something is about to happen a little before it actually does (rather then "remembering" during or after). Crazy stuff; hopefully someone will figure it out for sure one day so I can find out why it happens.
  13. Eww, it reminds me of ET for some reason... and I always did hate ET. Anyway, this site is way too creepy for it to be real... not even the producers of "virtual pets" recommend mistreating their "products", while the genpets site claims to sell "teeth removal kits" and says that although they feel pain, "the Genpets have limited vocal chords so they will not create a large amount of noise when disturbed."My 2cents, though its already been pretty well established that this thing is a fraud.
  14. This is just cruel... plus if you do this to someone you're interested in, they might not find it so funny. Better to just ask, ne?
  15. I saw a piece on the news about something similar to this... it actually does work and people do it all the time. The guy who played Screech on Saved by the Bell did this a little while because he was in risk of losing his house.
  16. I can use the net with my phone, so I assume it has Bluetooth? I have no idea how I'd go about turning it off, but I have Pay As You Go billing with never more than maybe $20 (about ?10) on it (and usually a lot less) so I'm not really concerned. It's good to know, though.
  17. Even if it was true, I doubt it would apply to Canada since I don't believe their old Mobile Signup worked for us... good thing I got my address the old fashion way (invites :] )
  18. I've never used a mac for an extensive period of time, but I was always told that one of the two was better for art/music and other creative functions (that would be the Mac ) while the other was better for gaming and running servers (this would be more Linux, but that's still PC, right?).
  19. I have a lot of "favorites"- indigo, pink, green and black are probably the top 4. I like colors that are bold and have a lot of contrast because they attract the eye.
  20. That homosexuality thing isn't entirely true... I don't know whether or not it is hereditary but it would still be possible for them to be born if it was true. Ignoring the fact that many homosexual people have heterosexual relationships, there's still high school Biology class to consider. It's been awhile, so the specifics might be a bit off, but basically everyone has two sets of genes- one from Mom and one from Dad. The dominant gene (such as brown eyes, or in this case would be heterosexuality) becomes the one that the person "uses", and the recessive one just sits in there, but its still there (homosexuality, or green eyes). When that person has kids, its a 50/50 chance of passing on either one, so a heterosexual/brown-eyed person could pass on the homosexual/green-eyed gene. If two people with the same recessive gene have kids, there's a 25% chance that their kid will get both recessive genes instead of the dominant one, and in that case they are born with the recessive trait. That's why kids can be born with different traits from either parent (freckles, hair color, eye color, etc).
  21. You can't be open with someone you love? Or make eye contact? These are really basic things that you should be able to do with someone if you're in a healthy long-term relationship with them.
  22. I got 8/10. Some of them are obvious; the second guy looked like a thug, and some of the pictures seem to have been taken too long ago for them to have invented any programming languages.
  23. It's no wonder guys wear too much Ax and Tag, the actors in the commercials put way too much on, plus some of the commercials actually say that if they put more on, they'll get more girls... like that makes sense. Someone should let them know that the first perfumes were made of cat pee- and some of them still smell that way.
  24. I was going to say ad revenues, but clicking through a few pages I can't find a single ad at all... and I can't find any info on some sort of "premium user" service or anything. If youtube isn't making any money now, my best guess is that Google has a plan for it. I doubt that a corporation would give away money just to avoid paying taxes on it, since they'd lose more money anyway.
