Google.hacked? Could you pass the virus?
thablkpanda replied to EJay's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Google should have one of the most secure servers, mabye second to MSN's hotmail. Google currently databases 8,058,044,651 sites, and it stores cache'd information on most of them. That information needs to be kept secure, along with the thousands/millions of g-mail users who have ssl encrypted personal storage. Just the fact that they can suppport millions of gigabytes of storage, makes them a high threat for internet security. Anyone who COULD hijack google, would have more power at their disposal, then to just give every user a virus. Even if google failed to install anti-hacking protection, they'd be one of the most powerful servers running. And just the fact that they index billions of sites, with their spiders, make them an internet saboteur's dream. Panda -
I use the internet for: Checking other people's site's coding, and stealing lil' pieces of code wherever I deem necessary. Seeing how much nicer other people's sites are than mine. Learning how to code other languages, and trying to visually remember everything at w3schools.com. Checkin music lyrics, like when I hear a song on 106th and Park, and I wanna know If I want the cd or not, I'll check the lyrics, and find the rest of the songs on the CD, and then decide if I like it or not.. (Holla if you're checking on that 50 Cent 'The Massacre') Talking to friends to lazy to call me on my cell, that insist upon using the internet as their SOLE form of communication, these kind of people will e-mail 911@emergency.com before they'd call 911 in an emergency (yeah they have it real bad) Doing work and stuff, Like work for school, this should really be reason number two, but who cares really? Newayz, that's me, and the internet... Peace up, ATL in tha house Panda

I Want To Create A Forum Site Can anyone help?
thablkpanda replied to hansley's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Quit trying to get the man to change forums PLEASE! Oh, btw, you don't HAVE to purchase Invision 2.0.1, if you know what I mean... however that's not relevant. Invision is just a cleaner board style, and more widely accepted. PHPBB is easier to mod and slightly less often found. Anyway, Modding by hand is really just about knowing PHP and coding it. and Following directions, Hansley, I suggest STRONGLY that you learn to code PHP if you don't already, because it's soon the be the language of the internet. It's easy to code when you learn enough, and it will make you less reliant on other people, like spiderlink said, once you learn enough php you'll be able to convert most mods to do whatever you want them to do, including make them EasyMOD compatible.Pandaz -
I need to know how to take an image, and make it a link. Simple? Yeah, But I forgot the tag, and can't find it anywhere. (Don't get smart with me and say to google it either, cuz I've googled it more times then you've searched for any ONE thing... don't attempt it.)HELP PLEASEPandaz.

I don't know of anyone that copy-pastes, and I have 7.02 credits. I had 20 previously, but I let them run out... kinda lame.I try to keep them high (above 15) because you never know when you could have some family emergency or something. Not many people PURPOSELY post for credits, I do, when I was really low, like a couple days ago I was at -.67 days, so I posted long tutorials and help people do stuff, and, poof, instant credits...That's my suggestion...Panda

Yes, you can use postnuke, seeing as it requires PHP and MySQL. And Trap's servers provide both.
-
Yeah, I like it, and agree with biscuitrat... it's a lil stick-outy, whatever that means... How did you come up with it though? Just placing gradients and playing with them? (That's Usually how people make stuff, by accident)Pandaz

All your points may be true, but the best use I find for Dreamweaver is, to check my code for errors. Most of the professionals, and wanna-be's like me, will use notepad for coding. PHP and HTML are easy to code once you 'learn' the tags. It's the best by far, seeing as you don't have all those extra buttons to get in your freakin way. And If I can't find a certian feature/code in dreamweaver, I'm screwed, and I have to go look it up in the PHP web site. However, if I forgot some code with notepad, I can.... or will... have to do the same thing anyway.. crap, bad example... but I hate dreamweaver for anything except making tables, and checking codes.

Getting traffic to your site is definitely the hardest part of running a website.Depending upon the subject matter, it will be easier or harder, exponentially, to get users. Seeing as we're currently in a age of the internet where people rely upon it for almost everything, It'd be better to drive traffic to your site if you provide a service, such as Web Hosting, or a directory service. (look at Xisto.com...)Any web-matter that provides a service is easier to sell than one that doesnt, and will henceforth be ranked higher on search-engines, since they'll get more clicks, and be boosted higher. The Search engines are the most helpful drivers to your website, besides advertisments. The majority of web-users are highly dependent upon a certian search engine for all their needs. And they rarely-to-never change their search engine. That said, you'll need to provide your site's address to MANY different search engines. The large-corporate-bad-boy-type ones, like Yahoo, MSN, and Google, and also the little ones that noone really uses, but you should appeal to anyway, like Looksmart, and AltaVista.Hopefully this was SLIGHTLY helpful...Panda

Anyone who can't find the perfect CMS for them, like was my problem, I strongly reccomend creating/writing your own. If you're very good at it, you can go commercial with it and start making money off your coding. However, if you're the type to do it just for fun, or to have a CMS to use personally, then, so be-it. I tried writing my own, but I suck at coding CSS, and Dreamweaver gives me nightmares. I coded my site using PHP and MySQL, with tons of HTML, and I just don't call it a CMS.Panda

Windows Xp Has Failed Me... OEM disk problems...
thablkpanda replied to alapidus's topic in Hardware Workshop
I feel your pain bro.I've easily spent 400+ dollars on OEM replacements since Windows '98. (That means '98, 2000, ME, XP home, and Professional!) So yeah, I know ya story well.. -
PHP Designer 2005. It's easily the best PHP editor, code snippet thingy ever! It's got all the little bells and whistles, and anything you could need in a PHP editor. Anyone that uses notepad still, (Like I did before.... 10 minutes ago) Should immediately switch over! and plus, It's FREE! http://download.cnet.com/windows/ and use their search tool.

Hey Guyz... I'm working on re-designing my website, and I need a way to set-up my affiliates page. I have several (decent looking, not that it matters) images for my possible affiliates to choose from. I currently have this code in effect... <html><p align=center>Two different sized advertisments are currently available for ad-exchanges. Purchasing advertising is currently unavailable. Here are your ad-choices.<select multiple name="images" size=5><option>88x31 pixel box<option>120x240 pixel tower</select> I want it so when a user selects the '88x31 pixel box' option, for example, I want the 88x31 advertisment to show up on the side, so potential affiliates, can view it before selecting. Help is appreciated... Panda- OUT

Gmail all the way!1 gig of space I'll never use, and 30 spam e-mails never touch my inbox every day! Could you ask for more? I used to use hotmail and every spam e-mail got through. Actually, it filtered out some of my e-mails from friends and family!I use my gmail invites on myself mostly, to set-up new accts for use for business, or such. I couldn't ask for more, (except a larger file size limit or none at all)Panda

I think so too, Something's been going on recently, my site's only been accesible through the sub-domain. Panda

A chosen few people however (me) prefer Fireworks MX, For it's ease of use, I can't stand Photoshop, too big of a download, and It's personally, not worth it. But to each man his own, eh?Panda

I just HOPE they don't stop it all. I do what someone else up there said, I didn't catch the name, but I DL a couple (two) tracks of a CD that was newly released, and THEN I go out and buy the CD. Almost always. I use it like a trial version. And I also try to use it sparingly. I'm not trying to be some kind of big playa' in the P2P industry, I'm just an average american trying to save some time, and money, and that's sick of buying CDs that I found out I really didn't like once I got home Tha Blk Panda

Why Do Women Go Insane Over The Toilet Seat?
thablkpanda replied to Dodger's topic in General Discussion
I concur. (I agree) I hear about the toilet seat from women more often than almost any other complaint (excepting the ever-famous "WHERE WERE YOU LAST NIGHT?") I understand why a woman would look at the situation from her standpoint, but we should still get our rights to the toilet.. lol. Keep the seat down, leave it up, it's all the same to me, but obviously, it's something special to your female counterpart. Panda -
Man did you read their site! That's awesome! They get OVER one million hits a day! Do you know what kind of AdSense money that would make? I mean how many hits does trap get? Couple thousand? Mabye a few?But they get MILLIONS! Anyone think of affiliating with them or something??Panda

Word, I know plenty of people out there that just primarily script in php, however know very little about the script that potentially saved my web-site. For an example, I can't even show you how large my former index page looked like, seeing as it is well over... 250 lines.. but, here's the condensed version on the require() diet. <html><body><? require 'header.php';?><? require 'indextable.php';?></body></html> It's about 87 bytes. The old one was 825 kb (kilobytes). That's Weightwatchers for PHP right there... Through the magical function called require() I've consolidated the size of my main-pages, and saved ALOT of scripting time. What it does is make the page 'call upon' another PHP page on the web, to display in the place where the require() tag is located. So you're seeing my whole index page, just in a dummed down version. The page header.php, consists of the <img src='img.png'> tags that make up my navigational bar, and logos. Seeing as there were roughly ten of them, I looked for a way to clean up the parts you'd see if you viewed my code. The page indextable.php consists of the tables and contents that make up my text and stuff of my site. There is a 3x2 table on the index page, that has information that will be updated regularly. And through the magic of PHP, I can do it all 5 times faster! This may be old news for some PHP guru's out there, but require() is the biggest factor in my success! If you want specifics on how to use the require() function, visit Google - PHP Require() Function Happy Scripting Tha Blk Panda
