Failure Do you spend your whole life Trying for one goal Just to stand by And watch it all go? Do you give all you've got And then a little more Just to stand by And watch it hit the floor? Do you wish for one thing And pray it will come true Just to stand by As your plans fall through? What if you've no choice But to try and try your best Just to stand by And fail like the rest? I've done all I can I'm all I can be But I'm still standing by As she walks past me And there ya go! I wrote it in one of my lessons because i was bored and it sums up my situation at the moment and such. And along with the poem id like to advise everyone that if you get an opportunity dor someone, or something, you want in life do not let it go because i promise you regretting not doing something is a horrible feeling! Now let me know what you all think? i dont think its my best as i wrote it during bordem in my class, but there ya go

As its still relative to the thread, i think that there is a setting in php.ini that allows for a the global variables to be accessed directly, though here at T17 and i think by default, that is disabled for security reasons. That caused me some trouble when i first got hosted here. Good to see you got it sorted though, did you have to do anything or did it just start working again?

Have you ensured that the $page variable is accessed via the $page = $_GET['page']; code?Otherwise it wont get any value for the variable $page as it doesn't have a value yet.It seems like the $page variable has no value as the include file says that the file it is looking for is '' which is basically NULL so it seems like theres a problem with assigning a value to that variable and it could be to do with what i said above.

What Are The Steps To Making A Website?
shadowx replied to DjLuki's topic in Websites and Web Designing
well id say:Identify the clients/your needs of the websiteIdentify the best ways of meeting these needs, eg tables, frames, images, text, etc...Make a design for the websiteFinalise the design with meetings with the clientCreate a prototypeModify if neededCreate the real thingTest itEvaluate/maintainI realise that if you were really making a website you might not do all of this, ive never planned anything in my life but there ya go! When ive had to go websites in college these are basically the steps we follow to get the marks, it never works that way but we have to show "evidence" that we did all of that. So take or leave what you want from my little list! -

True but if you need any medication then don't hesitate in taking it if your doctor suggests it, on the other hand if you're mental about taking pills for anything from an itch to a sneeze then lay off them a little unless you do need them. Most people unless on life long medication wont be taking medication every day or maybe not even every week or few weeks so i dont think that medication would be a big issue, though from my understanding Smack would be right in saying that. The biggest issue probably isnt how tall you are, its how tall you *think* you are, a 7ft girl can still *think* shes too short even though shes clearly not. By the way im talking about girls in my post as i guessed from the "princess" part of youre name that youre a girl, if im wrong let me know!
-
Well im 6 foot 3ish and being tall isnt all its cracked up to be, i have to duck in cars and watch out i dont hit my head, and you get noticed easily in a croud and finding a girl my height.. I dont even bother! But id second what TypoMage said, growing is a natural thing, unless you want to break your legs stretch them out and let them heal then youre going to have to be patient. To maximise your chances of getting taller i would suggest, no smoking or drugs other than medication, not loads of alcohol and eat healthy like calcium and things as that helps your bones grow which are what make you tall. And maybe some mild exercise like walking, cycling, running, swimming, just to make your body be healthy and develop strong bone and muscle structures which might lead to longer bones and hence you being taller. Though all that said i think tallness is a genetic thing, you cant just make yourself taller like you can loose weight. what i said above is just my ideas on what would give your body the right resources and "reasons" to give you strong, long bones, which leads you to being taller. And theres nothing wrong with your height in my eyes, i like a shorter girl and i think most guys like a girl around your height and given the fact youre still 14 you still have a good few years of growing left and you will grow taller, a good few inches probably

My thoughts exactly. Time in my opinion is simply a measurement of how much can happen before something else happens, eg a second represents how much could happen before the second hand moves on a clock. The reason i think its more of a made up concept is because if our brains worked twice as fast in doing things then surely time would seem to go half as fast. Because what we could have done in a minute we could now do in just 3O seconds and because our brains are what give us the sense of time it would effectively slow time down. and there is no zero point for a time measurement, because if the whoe universe was to speed up we would never know. but i guess thats like most measurements.

The Social Security Number Is The Mark Of The Beast?
shadowx replied to reelkill's topic in General Discussion
We first of al id like to highight that the number of the best would technically be 616, so now we know how the bible can be wrong, or at least wrongly interpreted lets continue to SS numbers.now given the quote from the bible about the number of the best being the number of a man, would this not suggest that men, meaning mankind, are beasts? Given what we do to teach other and the world in general then yes it would, it suggests we have some sort of evil, which we obviously do and of course the bible refers to the original sin and all that so in my opinion the philosophy behind that quote is that mankind is in fact evil..which we are if you think about it. I think it has nothing to d with SSN's though. -
How To Upgrade My Level Very Soon how to upgrade my level very soon
shadowx replied to elieen's topic in Computer Gaming
If youre trying to suggest that youre not cheating by doing this...you are. You are cheating if you buy anything for the game using real life money. Eg buying GP for real cash. I would suggest you dont cheat, the reason being A. Youre cheating, thats not right B. once you have 99 in all levels what do you expect to be doing in the game? Nothing. Thats the end. C. You would be ruining the game for other, decent players. -
Well thats screwed up....I never did like the American government and this will be more fuel for anyone else like me who doesnt trust them or like them to create conspiracy theories but i really dont see what anyone had to gain from this, except a terrorist organisation but if they were involved there would have been bombs, thank god there wasnt. It is...i dont know how to explain it but when you hear of how close the killed came to be being treated for his obvious mental unbalances it just makes you realise how easy this would have been to avoid. Though of course he would have to want to change, as they say, for it to have been prevented. I think the next step is to grieve and then to learn from these experiences. I think that the mental health of young people is something that is one key of many in these incidents and in the general culture of all countries leading to more violent culture and gangs etc.. so perhaps, as sad as it is, these events can highlight these issues because if the killer was assessed in more depth and then treated for his disturbances he might not have done this and i think would apply for many of the mass shootings in any country. Also it can highlight the security of places where lots of people will be together and on and on so that this kind of thing never happens again.

well i guess that sort of covers that! The point is if guns are harder to come by they are more expensive and of course guns are rarer. If guns are harder to find criminals are less likely to sell them to outsiders, yes gangsters will have them but gangsters arent the ones running into schools shooting people, sure gangsters are bad people but in all fairness they tend to keep things between themselves and not shoot random students. The point is if guns are harder to come by its likely that many of the tragedies involving unstable people getting guns wouldnt happen, a psychotic person is unlikely to have or make the connections to be able to purchase a gun if they are banned, it wont stop them being violent and maybe going in with a knife or unarmed but thats a lot easier to defend aganst and run from. you wont ever ban guns from the entire world, or from any country but you can try to reduce the number. and that reduces the chances of something bad happening. You cant argue with that simple logic. No because of the definition of the word "criminal" and there will always be criminals for whatever reason but there doesnt need to be ARMED criminals. Sure you get thieves etc... but they dont need to have a gun and by making guns illegal with a heavy sentence these thieves most likely wont carry a gun because they risk an even longer sentence. Yes bad guys are a problem, guns are too, and bad guys with guns are an even bigger problem. The uk does have shootings but we dnt have massacres like in the US and i think one of the reasons is that guns are illegal! if i was carrying a gun id either get shot dead or put away, neither of which are that appealing, and im sure a lot of other people think like that, even those who would like a gun dont own one because of this. A ban on guns would make any country safer
-
that is truly scary...I know the US has a lot more people than here in the UK but that doesnt account for the huge difference im sure. It really does show the problem in America with guns. And i definately agree with all countries having the equivalent of a SWAT team and armed police in airports etc where a bomber/gunman needs to be taken down instantly to prevent a massive disaster, inevitably someone will get a gun and if they do then they need to be disarmed quickly. And that is what is truly wrong with our "justice" system... I understand that if they allowed us to beat those who break and enter would probably lead to lots of "oh but he came in my house so im allowed to murder him" type cases but i like to think that if someone broke in and threatened me and/or my family i would be legally able to beat him to the ground so hes no longer a danger, i wouldn't kill him, but definitely make sure he was no longer a threat and then make sure he never tried that again! But i dont think that is a good reason for legalising guns, rather have my house robbed than have 3O of my friends shot.. It is a problem that guns arent impossible to get hold of but in my opinion guns in the US are like alcohol in the UK, just get an adult to buy one if you cant do it yourself! At least in the UK you have to know the "right" people to get a gun and such and because of that and the threat of "justice being served" i think many teenagers and adults are put off of guns realising that if used they carry a hefty sentence and they can be hard-ish to get hold of unless your in that sort of crowd. And also i think guns are seen as a bit over the top in some ways in the UK as you dont need a gun to be a criminal and its not worth having a gun but in the US you need a gun to be a criminal or you're going no where. In the end its a vicious cycle, criminals carry guns for whatever reason so you get a gun to feel safe so they get a bigger gun to be more effective so you buy a cannon and it just gets worse and worse to the point everyone has to have a gun and the bigger the better. true words, everyone has the right to protect themselves but i think everyone owning a gun is overkill...the irony.
-
I like the fact this topic appeared as i feel its a god extension to the current thread abut the latest massacre in the US. I think guns should be banned in the US. now the problem being is how? How do you disarm an ENTIRE nation as big as the USA, but thats pretty much beyond the scope of the question. I too live in the UK and sure sometimes it can be a little rough around here, the south east is "here", but there is rarely a shooting and if there is its usually one person getting shot or stabbed as said. Usually gang related as people dont usually get randomly killed. But if we had access to guns i would literally be scared to go outside. It would be terrible. Petty theft would become murder, teenagers would get kicks out of shooting the tires out on cars or scaring random people. And im sure there would be massive massacres, most likey racism fuelled but also just because people think its cool to own a gun and shoot someone over a silly argument r as a way of saying "here i am" to the world which is possibly what happened in the US lately, seems they are all trying to out do each other to become the "best" murderer. In short, guns should be banned, it will lead to less gun crime..well duh..and possibly a safer USABut then you have to ask should the police carry guns.. now part of me says yes because if theres a guy with a weapon all our UK cops have is a stick and some pepper spray, scary... but then again if the cops have guns the criminals need bigger guns which i believe is another thing in the USA, criminals NEED guns to be "successful" without a gun in the US a robber, gangster, car-jacker wouldnt get anywhere because their target is likely carrying and the police are carrying and that forces them to get a gun, the bigger the better in their eyes i imagine. At least in the UK its mainly limited to knives, which of course is bad but if a guy with a knife appears you can run, or avoid him, if he has a gun you cant run or avoid a bullet. And theres no need for petty thieves to carry guns because no-one else does and the police dont so while their target isnt in a good position it generally keeps the population safer. not perfect but better. I do find the laws in the USA ridiculous concerning weapons... I did see a comical advert for a gun rental shop where any american with a driving liscence can go in with that, and ten dollars and rent ANY gun and ammo in that shop, a drivers licence and ten dollars....what has America done to itself. You could claim "FREEDOM! Americans are free" there are just as free as I in the UK.
-
This is the stereotypical american view, i apologise to anyone who doesnt have this opinion, that guns=superior. The american system is ludicrous it really is. "Lets all have guns, nothing bad will ever happen to us..." yeh..that works.. Im english and damn proud of the fact i DONT carry a gun, or any weapon infact. Now the main reason is i could get put into prison for a little while, criminal record yada yada but also statistics (yes i admit i dont have them because it was a TV show and i cant find it on the net) suggested that if youre getting mugged or what not with a knife and you pull a knife then your more likely to get hurt so carrying weapons isnt always effective. Now hypothetically, yes if you were there with your almighty gun you could have shot him down and been a hero... tho you yourself said that not many shots are fatal.. so theres a mad man, probably already pissed off, with a gun and he gets shot in the arm.. well thats going to make him submit isnt it... no hes going to realise theres nothing to loose and shoot you back and then kill some more of your friends. Yes i agree fully that someone could have "rushed" him and taken him down and disarmed him but once a guy with a gun gets you into the submissive mind frame its hard to get out of. Now lets say that guns were outlawed in the USA...but first ask yourself where this guy got the gun from, the friendly gun store, along with lots of ammo, maybe even some practice at a gun range.. now if guns were outlawed as they are here in the UK that guy would need background checks etc.. to make sure hes not insane and a criminal, then he would need a safe storage area for the gun and a seperate area for the ammo, and i think he would need to take some lessons in gun handling and join a gun club. He still gets to shoot the gun etc.. but its much much safer. Now of course our psychotic madman could buy a gun on the streets and still have killed these students, however its unlikely a random madman would go through that effort and risk of approaching gansters asking to buy guns. Mainly the "hardcore" criminals would carry guns and although its not good that they are carrying a gun at least they dont just go kill students... So guns are outlawed = great reduction in the chances that this would even have happened. How many times has this happened in other countries where guns are outlawed not as often as America. Of course its tragic but suprising, unfortunately not. Americans need to down their guns. They dont make you special, in my opinion they make you a weakling who is afraid to fight up close, in person, you hide behind a gun and the power you think it gives you. Unlike in Hollywood movies guns dont protect you, they harm others as we have seen. And as said if someone in the college did have a gun perhaps they could shoot him down.. and then get arrested and put away for life, or even worse they could anger the guy and cause yet more deaths. The fact they still let students in after two had already been shot simply amazes me... The person who made that decision doesnt deserve the air they breathe, the blood of over 30 is on their hands.

Well im bored of these "the world is going to end" things! Its not going to just end! Yes its possible that a meteor will strike the earth and kill everything, perhaps a super volcano will blow killing everything, perhaps a massive freak wave will kill everything but the earth isnt just going to vanish. Now i know a lot of people might think things like someone predicted 9/11 with "two brothers will fall", how many brothers have fallen since that was written...millions im sure.. Its so easy to make a vague prediction that anyone can do it, and if something does happen everyone will think its amazing and keep talking about it but if nothing happens hardly anyone will talk about it and completely forget that someone said it would happen and so you only really get publicity from a predicition if its right so we dont hear about the wrong ones.Thats my views anyhow.. and the bible and other religious texts said a lot of things.. Adam and Eve had two sons.. and incest is a sin, not sure how that works.. I mention the bible because it was the only text we were forced to learn about so take no offence, none is meant.Thats my thoughts anyhow.

Well the code looks fine to me too!As Blessed said the variables should be in the URL s check that they are in the URL, if they are then presumably the problem is in the php, if they arent in the URL then it presumably resides in the HTML somewhere.I was going to suggest that it could be something in the settings file or some configuration on the server but you mentioned that other scripts work so its unlikely to be that.
-
Is there any chance we can see the code you are using in php and the form code you have used, that would in HTML. Im thinking maybe youve made a little error in the php or on the form. The two things to check are that in php you do something like: <?$var = $_GET['var'];echo $var;?> Of course you can do more then ECHO but i usually do that to make my variables easier to manage, the most important bit is $_GET['var']; make sure you have that exactly the same in your scripts, of course change "var" to the variable name. I sometimes forget the underscore and thats never pretty! And on the form make sure you have the "action=" correctly set and the "method=GET" set also. I sometimes write POST on the form and GET in my php and such. Again, thats not very effective! Though if this doesnt solve it then post the part of the php code that gets the GET variables and someone should be able to see if anything is wrong.

Test Your Browser For Security take the browser security test
shadowx replied to AnkitGoswami's topic in The Internet
Thats pretty interesting, i use, what i think is the latest release of FF and i got big fat zeros so it seems im reasonably safe in terms of FF letting someone in. Good to know. -
It seems odd that its not working, perhaps just write a very simple php page with just an ECHO in it to see if it works or not. then follow the steps already said about putting it in the right place and such. If it still doesnt work i would suggest trying XAMPP as its very easy to install and use. Uses a simple installer and an even simpler control panel for starting and stopping php, sql, mail servers, and ftp server. You can google the name and normally find it near the top if you wanted to use it. If you want to keep trying with this then i would use just the ECHO command and if it works you will see the text and if not you will get some sort of error. Also if you did not delete the original php files you could find where they are located and make sure your php files are in the same directory. And you might want to try taking down any firewalls you have as some of them might get a little worried about accessing the localhost. Mine gave me lots or alerts when i was using FF to access the localhost address, that was until i made a rule for it so try that too.
-
I think Truefusion covered most of things, though remember that you need to have apache running to view your pages using the address TF posted above. To turn php on you will usually have either a "control panel" type program in your start menu or a program like "start php" or something like that.

Php Form Data And Conditional Statements My third tutorial
shadowx replied to ghostrider's topic in General Discussion
Hey, another nice tutorial there, youve covered everything there is to know about IF functions and i think that anyone who follows your tutorials will easily be able to make useful scripts from what they have learned here.i hope you keep up the good work! IF functions can be very hard to grasp as a beginner to programming but i think the way you explained it is very easy to understand -
How Do I Get Over What I Think To Be My First Love?
shadowx replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Hey there, i dont think its stupid at all, i fell in love at about the age of 13 i think so i can sort of relate to what youre saying and i still feel it after 4 years. The thing is i dont think you will ever really get over it. you will find someone else soon but you will always remember her as the first you loved, and the fond memories you have together and things like that. I think youve gotta remember always that there are other girls out there and you will find another, sometimes it might not feel that way, people used to say that to me and i used to say that i would never find anyone but im sure now that i one day will. Its easier for me because we are really good friends but if i was you i would concentrate on other things in life that you enjoy and almost trying to forget her and enjoy life. You will always remember her but it doesnt mean you wont find another. -
Ive always used tea tree oil based products and not the commercial ?25 a bottle stuff, i got some facial wash from superdrug, Uk that is, for about ?3, a tea tree oil foamy wash and it really works, i still have spots, yes but that's to be expected at my age so theres not much i can do about that, everyone gets the odd spot, that cant be helped but products like this help to get rid of grease on the skin and kill bacteria, which as i understand it are the main causes for spots so it does help. Ive also got a more concentrated tea tree oil which you dab on individual areas, like if i get a spot come up i just go destroy it and then cover the area with the oil and it stops it coming back and stops more appearing in that area. And you could mix it with warm water for a quick wash too. And as usual eat less fatty foods yada yada! but thats boring! i refer to eat what i like and then use that kind of stuff ^^ to treat any spots i get. Although this applies to spots like those in the teen years whereas true acne is a condition where you get spots possibly throughout your entire life. If thats what you have opposed to the odd sot then see your doctor, one of my friends did and got some pills that help dry his skin and reduce the acne. So if you have acne, or think you have acne, then see your doctor and see what they recommend. but if you have ordinary spots then id say use tea tree oil products. The best thing i tried was a tea tree oil based scrubbing wash with little beads in it to scrub away dirt and spots etc... good stuff!
