  1. Yeah! Thanks mate, thatd be good. Waiting a day or two isn't a problem. Just one thing - is it going to be a bit less blocky than ur original?!!!!!!! James

    Kidnapped Domain?

I doubt it as I get the typical blue wordpress screen, with the right title, which is your proper domain setup by the sounds of things. Are you trying to access the domain directly, or through another domain, as aeonlan said, most free referrer domains that should just go directly to ur page will display ads for a bit before going to the true page. But anyway, I get that spanish gobbeldygook anyhow
  3. No, Johnny, what you said was good. I already know it is way too blocky, but I'm not really sure what to change it to to make the page flow. About the white bg straight to grey, the point you made is important, maybe a gradiant or something there to make it less of an eyesore. The copyright looking like a button, as you say, is also valid, i'll change it to something a little more slick. How about some coloured text ??? nothing too disgusting of course, but maybe red links and light shade of green or blue for text? Tdk again - news bulletins in the middle - I love that idea, I'd always been thinking of having it on the left, but it could work well being more in the view of things. and the banner being something to do with life. Thats exactly what I've been trying to think of . as I said, the cat was just a temporary pic, but you get the idea
  4. Any more ideas from anyone to improve over the two designs we've got already...Heres a kinda update incorporating Tdk's design I modded earlier. I've only really had time to do the banner and links setup, and its put together in paint cos I'm really poor with photoshop. (Tdk's photoshop files are above though if you feel like looking over them) As I say the only thing I've managed to do is the banner with links. Appreciate it if people could say whether they like the main pages' horizontal links bar or not, in relation to the banner...P.S. Pic of cat is just a temporary measure!!! it will probably morph into a suitable homeless person (willing of course!!) :Pi was also thinking it might look better if the whole window was made a screen size bigger, maybe to the most common 1024x768 res??? is this a reasonable idea?Oh - any more ideas of how to spice up the rest of the page (and my poor effort of banner too!)???My modded version is attached: if I can get this to work :E
  5. Sorry for such a slow response back on my part when you all replied so quickly! Thanks tdktank, you were dead right with the background colours idea and making it more like a welcome to the site . As I said in the PM, the light, gray kinda silvery colours in your design seem to work well and are easy on the eyes, which is always a good thing! I'm not so sure about the logo space in the top left, and would rather it was in the form of a banner (not too fat of course), but nice ideas.Monsieur Voyagers! - i like the graded shades merging and the lines that fade out, it makes the page look quite smooth. i won't lie, I think those background colours are pretty horribly putrid!, but those are the easiest things to change anyway and its only in the design stage. I'd quite like to use those sort of graded lines and the gradually changing background colours as they look pretty cool, just not those ones! For any further developments or layout ideas from people, the site should have a quite sleek feel, and be easy on the eyes, clean, with fairly light background colours, just mostly it shouldn't really look bland (which is the hardest thing to get with a clean looking site )It'd be great if you could try this out johnny! Go on... you know you want to! maybe following on from the idea of a design with sleek banner space along the top, with the sort of left navigation and the light-ish colours in tdk's design! And TDk you know I love almost all of your design for this! don't be silly... It rocks, just needs to rock a little, little bit more! Thanks once again guys (and gals) Its great to have such speedy replies.. I only posted this at 10:30 last night! All the help is greatly appreciated as time is of the essence!
  6. Hi everyone! (Mods- sorry if this sort of request is in the wrong area, it seemed to be the most reasonable place when I looked! If it is, please do move it somewhere else! ) Our brains are fried trying to think of any possible web designs for a charitable, sort of fund raising program underway by a group of friends (mainly for helping out the homeless by providing paid jobs for them with running a buisness.) This is kinda a new idea, although we have been working hard to get something like this to help out the (trustworthy) homeless around the reading area. This has been a project as a group of friends over a rather long time, although we just lost one of our group to a different college (which turned out to be in our favour, he was a good friend though!). He was being rather unrealistic and just generally pulling things down. Because of his bad organisation a ?1,700 fund raising climb (all money had been sponsored and totalled) had to be called off. Twice!. It never actually happened. Anyway... Moans over, now we can continue... Basicly, we need a website up and running to get support, but none of us have any ideas that are any good for site layout or just the overall design. I don't mean to ask for any coding or website building to be done, maybe just knock up a template in photoshop or something that looks good. (I'll take it from there and put it into web format ). As of now the name of the charity is SecondLife (although we may change it due to legal reasons or in favour of a more catchy title!) We don't really have a logo, but room to put a logo in would be useful, maybe at the top or sides of a page. What we would like is a navigation area of the page, maybe in a dedicated box along the left side, with another box somewhere, possibly just below that? for latest news bulletins. If you think it would be a good idea to get some sort of banner made up to fill a band across the top of the screen, or the part to the right of any nav boxes please say so and I'll get working on it. (I think this would be a good idea). The rest of the stuff - colours, (background texture?), boxes or borders need to be sorted and thats pretty much what we need help deciding on, along with the layout of these things, like where boxes should be to look good etc.. As I said, It'd be great if you could put together a visual layout or something in photoshop (or anything else for that matter) that we could use as our design! (Credit would go to whomever helped us out majorly, with respect plastered on the site to them as well!!! ;D) We already have most of the content and pages down on paper and we're just waiting for slow old me to get a site ready to lob it all into! We all would appreciate it very, very much if someone would help us out by getting a nice look for our site, and maybe even help us out by sponsoring the reincarnation of the twice failed climb - Details will be found on the site when it goes! (I'll probably start another topic somewhere else to get interest! ) Thanks in advance; Ben, James and the team!
  7. Ha this is rather funny, although it is asking to be cracked anyway unless it is an encrypted connection permanently. It is possible to crack almost any site given the right amount of effort and time and it wasn't going to be one of the hacker groups to let microsoft get away scott free.OH and if HunniBunni comes back... This doesn't happen to be the same HunnyBunny from WOW playing as a tauren hunter??? - If so its a very small world
  8. I would definitely go for the PS2 Over all the other including the PS3 as of now, when its almost out (might be but I don't follow such stuff any more to an extent) - Theres only one other reason the gamecube might get my vote, its because of "The Legend Of Zelda" game. This is a truly epic game, and will have you playing for years. I've have it for 3 or four now and its still bloody cool. Even though theres no talking in it the characters kinda murmer... it is in its own dimension and theres nothing like it. Since the gamecube is seriously cheap now its worth just buying it to be able to play this one game. (its the only game I felt worth buying and my God I was impressed. I won't be selling it or trading in that game until I'm at least 95 years old.And onto why the PS2 got my vote over this epic...! I think it has to be the best console created to date only beaten over by the PC, which is often costing many hundreds, even thousands more than the good old PS2. It is the truly only classic console that everyone knows about and almost everyone that has had a console has owned. There are so many games out for it that whoever owns it has a HUGE choice which they can tailor to their playing feel. It truly has to be the first console that was a big step up from the old, slower console like the PS1 and the dreamcast, showing so much of a leap in technology and performance it outrivalled everything else, besides looking ten times better too . now, the PS3 is just going to be a slightly souped up version of the PS2, with hardly any upgrade too, not much noticable graphics leap, when the PS2 can offer prefectly good graphics, it is mainly the quality of the games programming that determines the outcome, when the PS2 can handle a lot. T0o be honest the stuff like DVD writer is going to be a gimic, and those horrendous boomerang controllers. i don't think you can beat the PS2 controller for comfort (although the wireless GC one is very very nice for the size of my hands). So there you have it. The PS2 was truly original, a piece of technology that has withstood electronics and graphics outdating and still holds its own. Thats why it gets my vote
  9. That sums up the most important points. Just make sure that whatever descision you make you have thought through alot, though I expect you will. Balance the pros with the cons, and try to make it "your descision" in the end. remember. its unlikely that later on in life you'll see any people again unless you purposefully do, and in that case your likely to be friendly and likewise from the other friend anyway. Also make sure you explore new areas. Although you may think you know you don't want to go, you could be surprised how much fun you can have, even though you have to watch how you act to make sure you don't make a fool of yourself, it could be good. Go enjoy whatever you decide to do. (P.S. I can't dance to save my life, and when (on very slim occasions - twice in four years that I go to somewhere that requires dancing I usually don't do much at all anyway. Wander around trying not to look too stupid!))
  10. If I'm not mistaken what you typed from a simple question, and being able to create talk makes that count as a fairly "good" quality post. Anyway I'd count this if it was on my watch. Keep up the nice posting work and you'll have no problems whatsoever. The mods on this forum are very fair and reasonable. They want people who care about what they post (like you obviously !) they only want to warn those who blatantly aren't thinking about what they type.Oh and I'm sure the credit script isn't that foolable by being able to type loads and loads of garbage. or just repeat spam. You probably need a diverse assortment of words in your post.
  11. Very true, It seems the oil crisis has been a bit overrated. Ver are also easily accessible car conversion kits to allow even the most useless person to upgrade their car to run on vegetable oil (with amazing miles to the gallon levels too ) They also have hybrid cars now that are almost out in production, these would dramatically reduce the use of oil and make the supplies last even longer. Thus our "in crisis" oil supplies would be extended through the use of electricity as the main source of propulsion. I believe it doesn't really matter, because I'll probably be dead by the time any such major crisis or shutdown of world economy takes place.
  12. Thats very bad news to hear. I always hate it when hearing news like that. I suppose that accidents are going to happen and some people have to come off worse. It is unfortunate about the gum, although you weren't to know, The accident may have been worse if you hadn't given him the gum, for example, he may have cycled slightly slower, avoiding the most of the grunt of the accident. I wouldn't blame yourself, as it could just as easily have been someone else.Rest in peace Derek.
  13. Lol, nice to hear that, its probably not going to be that great for a while yet... trying to perfect a good layout, to no avail btw... your rc-forum sig link is off by a .com on the end
  14. Thanks :DOkay, rc-talk.net has another vote, I think rc-help.net might be the one, although I think both would be well coupled
  15. I am trying to set up something that requires a Mysql database. I have made the account and user for it and everything is OK, I just need to know what MySQL database type Xisto offers to be able to continue. I can select MySQL types between:1. MySQL 3.x2. MySQL 4.x/5.xPlease help verify which of these two Xisto hosting package #2 offers :DJames
  16. nice site, although the buisness link on the left in your navigation seems to be corrupted and looks very dodgy, maybe something went wrong in my page but it continues to look odd after refresh... just take a look :DJames
  17. anyone else to help choose between these remaining three domains?the go like this: rc-talk.net, rc-help.net or rc-help.info
  18. Thanks for the detailed help bhav! I think it would be geared more towards helping people out with choices than general talk, so a rc-help would probably be more fitting... although it wouldn't be much of a site if there wasn't talk as well! I'll have to see how the votes go for which is better: an rc-talk or an rc-help??? (and whether a .info or a .net would be better?) So Far: ___ rc-talk.net (3) ___ rc-help.info (2) ____ rc-help.net (1) Thanks again James
  19. Yes, it seems the .net's are popular... i just better get together another ?8.99 :Dit will most probably be a web site, although, if I find an easy way (i have no idea at the moment) how to set up a wap version too i would do that
  20. Thanks... nitro cars Rock don't they I got a schumacher XTR, had it for ages, even whilst various friends have theirs break down, one of my friends exploded his engine - Mine's still going strong!!! - Kinda upgraded to helis too, got a big nitro one and a mini electric... the mini one kicks **bottom**! unfortunately I don't have the site up now, but I am using the time to think about getting it started and a few base pages... Should be good. I do intend to have it running as soon as I can though... Any help getting started would be appreciated too, you could get in there to member #2 ! If you wanted to help out and you thought of any cool page designs feel free to e-mail me - james (d0t) mcguire (AT) talk21 (d0t) com
  21. Thanks for the input so far everyone... I can see this is going to be decided pretty quick :DKubi, your right (Sorry, forgot to mention) RC is for Radio control as you rightly said... And you say .info domains are free... that made me sit up and bang my head! now theres something. unfortunately I googled for free .info domain and a few others, got nothing... Do you know of a certain site where they are free? If so I would be amazingly grateful if you posted it.Sorry Nani Cheri, nothing personal, although on second look net.net does seem a little odd so its gone from the list - Though you can say you got there first and started off the helping!I like the idea of more interesting names, but I couldn't think of anything that really stuck and was kinda fitting... I think shorter names that mostly have rc in them would be best...!Please do continue to make this decision easier !!! (in hindsight a poll mighta been cool ) - Narrowed down the list a lot now, though I'm still open for additions to it
  22. Right, I hope the Trap community can help me out here from a different perspective.I have a few free domains that I'd like to get one for an RC forum. This will include helis, cars, boats and other stuff I've yet to think of.Now its only between these four domains - thanks to everyone who helped it this far - please say which you think would be best, most memorable or most suited to the purpose: ( Other domain suggestions for this would be greatly appreciated too )rc-talk.net----------rc-help.inforc-help.net
  23. I am sure something like this has been covered elsewhere, but I rank Norton antivirus / firewall very highly. I'd recommend to anyone who actually wants something that definitely works, and stops viruses in the act. People say it slows your computer down a bit, and it does, but if you have the CPU or RAM to spare, even a bit, its worth it. The additional usage shows its actually working to scan / check almost everything. those that don't slow anything down, obviously don't work as hard to protect you. Norton all the way :DJames
