  1. i got my EFT payment on April 27 (or 28th). No problems. I think EFT is way better because there is no waiting for the check to arrive. I usually end up getting my check around the 2nd or 3rd day of the following month but with EFT I got it before the end of this month.
  2. if someone has hijacked your page, google still makes money. Just because you aren't sending them the traffic (clicks), someone else is. Frankly, google still makes the money. Publishers have complained about this for a long time and it DOES hurt but google doesn't seem to be doing anything about site "Stealers"...
  3. clicksor is similar to google adsense with a few more options (like popups) but don't pay as much as google adsense.
  4. did you delete index.htm (not index.html)? are you using redirects? is your index.php file located in the www folder? or under the forum folder?
  5. gmail notifier isn't a plug in for firefox OR internet explorer. It is a WINDOWS program. If you have windows it will work...
  6. why don't you use a different email address? Your "hidden" firewall is likely in your router. You could directly attach your internet connection to your computer while you transfer the file over MSN messenger. The easiest way is to use another email. Don't you have more than just hotmail?Gmail is the best right now. Or you can use your ISP email. If you need a gmail invite, just PM me. I have tons.
  7. Let's clear one thing up. Ping time is NOT server response time! When you ping a server, it measures the time it takes to get to the server, the time it takes the server to respond, and the time it takes to get a message back. The route is by far the longest time in the process (unless Xisto servers are severely overloaded). The route is basically "hops" through the internet (servers). Each hop takes time, the more hops it takes to get to Xisto, the higher the ping time. To improve your ping time, you either physically move closer to the server or get all the hops between you and the server to upgrade their routers.
  8. i don't understand why people would get mad at someone who has assumed a black person can play basketball. Why would this be considered racism or discrimination? Stereotyping WORKS. People fit into profiles and it is obvious that not 100% of people will fit the profile but MOST will. The example of blacks can run faster than other races, mentioned earlier, is clearly TRUE. How many non-blacks have won the 100m in the olympics? Better yet, how many ASIANS have won the 100m? Am I being racict when I say asians can't run fast? Sure, there are cases where an asian can run faster than a black guy, but ON AVERAGE and in MOST CASES, the black guy will be faster. This isn't racism, it is called generalizations based on statistical observations. If you STILL think that is racist, how about this statement. Black people have the darkest skin color of all the races. But wait, not all black people are that dark. Some people from india, sri lanka, or even thailand are darker than some black people. It isn't racism to generalize or stereotype. And I don't think it is wrong to generalize either. That's human nature. If you walked into a bad neighborhood, wouldn't you ASSUME that a group of mean looking black guys are carrying guns, in a gang, etc.? You would assume this in order to protect yourself. If you DIDN'T assume this, you might do something stupid and get hurt. Obviously those guys may not be bad but you don't know so you play it safe.
  9. How is it not relevant? This is exactly what the original poster had said. I am confirming his suspicion that the certification is "not nearly as good as a bachelor degree". Also confirming that I DON'T consider it a college education (as do many other people). So, you tell me how it is off topic. Clearly confirming his statement will be useful and relevant. Next, one of his criteria for doing the certification is the salary. So, combined with the fact that a bachelor is better, I suggested he do a bachelor of engineering to become a REAL engineer and he WILL make the kind of money he is expecting from the certification. And, finally..I never said engineering jobs are the ONLY jobs that pay straight out of school. But, engineering jobs (specifically computer engineering) is the closest to the MCSE which will get the salaries he is looking for. You have to stay on the subject... Sure, I could have told him accountants make 50k a year out of school... but it should be something RELEVANT to the original post.
  10. the point of developing a page with 2500 links is for SERPs. a page with 2500 links will probably rank pretty high in the major search engines. If they have a 2500 link page for many topics, they will get a lot of visitors. And we all know that visitors = money. The more visitors you get, the more money you can make off your website. For example, some places show an average CPM for google adsense of about $3 to $5. That means for every 1000 page views you will get $3 to $5 dollars. Now, if your 2500 link page generates around 10,000 page views you will break even. After that, it's all profit.Do this for enough subject areas and you will have quite a bit of traffic.
  11. CCNE, CNE, MSCE and whatever self study "certification" are not REAL engineers. If you want to make the 50-100k salary right out of school, you need to get a REAL engineering degree. A bachelor of engineering not an associate degree either... a REAL engineering degree. I know many people who were fresh graduates from bachelor of engineering programs who make anywere from a low of 40k to a high of 65k per year. Within, 5 years those salaries were up around 30-50%. Most of those people are now pulling at least 60k per year.Average engineering salary is probably around 50-55k for a fresh graduate. And the average goes up to around 65-75k for those with 5 years experience.University is the best way to go if you want a higher paying job. There are obviously other ways but those will be much more difficult (start your own business, get famous, etc.)
  12. Some of you have mentioned that prices in europe are much higher than the US. Just remember that 1 imperial gallon = 0.84 US gallons. This means that an imperial gallon is smaller than a US gallon. In other words, if it is $5/imperial gallon, that is the same as $4.2/US gallon. Finally, the grade of the gasoline is different in europe compared to the US. The price on the sign (in the US) is based on 87 octane I believe (the lowest is 85). While in the UK (I don't know about other european countries), many petrol stations don't have anything lower than 95 octane (some go over 100 ocatane). So, while it is more expensive in Europe, it is NOT that much more when taking into consideration the gallon size difference and the octane.
  13. it is quite simple. they lure you into giving them your bank account number so they can transfer their money into your account. Once they have your bank account number, they will be able to clean you out.
  14. check out the function called STRIPSLASHES($STR); just put everything you output to your page into this function first and your slashes will be gone. examaple: $string="It\'s Saturday but I\'m still in the office.";$string=stripslashes($string);echo $string; try that.
  15. how would your visitors know you were gathering their info? Unless you told them... but then it wouldn't be invisible anymore would it?i don't see a problem and I also use invisible counter. I don't like showing counters on a site. It is UNPROFESSIONAL and looks amateurish.
  16. even saying "leet" over "1337" is unacceptable in my view. "Leet" is a bastardization of the word "ELITE". To be "leet" is to be "elite". Leet is a stupid word just like noob or worse yet n00b (with zeros). Worse yet are words ending in "z" and "a" (or "ah") when they are supposed to end in "s" or "er". Like: Latah (Later), Latez (also Later), boyz (Boys), etc. VERY annoying.
  17. besides some of the ones already listed, i would like to nominate the Goonies. That movie is classic 80's. I also wonder why no one has mentioned the Star Wars movies. I guess it doesn't include episode 4 becuase it came out in 1977, but episode 5,6 came out in 1980, and 1983 (if I remember correctly). Then there is Indiana Jones. I guess I am a Lucas fan. Finally, my last nomination is Rain Man. So many movies from the 80's are good. Feel free to disagree with my selection.
  18. dark, what you have suggested is exactly how it works right now.each one of your hosting credits is worth ONE day of inactivity. You lose 1 hosting credit every day. When your hosting credits reach 0, your account is disabled. To unsuspend your account you have to come on here and post. You have to post until you get about 4 credits before it gets unsuspended. The only thing is that you might not get email notification. So I've heard....
  19. in cpanel there should be a "subdomain statistics" button (not the same button as you normally use). This will show you all the stats for your subdomains.
  20. I prefer making my own guestbooks. That way I can totally customize it to the way I want it to look. Also, I can add features that I think will be useful. PHP makes it very easy to do.
  21. it is not google adwords. it is google ADSENSE. Adwords is for ADVERTISERS. Basically used when you want to promote your site/product. ADSENSE is for publishers. You put adwords ads on your site to make money. They don't really have too many requirements for traffic. Just apply and find out. You can apply as much as you like if you are rejected. Google usually takes everyone that applies. Just make sure your website is not "under construction" when you apply.
  22. my guess is that you will see a consolidation between the console and computer gaming industries. When you think about it, the XBOX and the PS2 are already "just computers". XBOX uses ATI graphics cards and it has a hard drive, it can go online, etc. Look at the PS2, it has USB ports for crying out loud! You will see game consoles start to resemble computers more and more. I have not seen the PS3 but I assume it is going to be more and more like a computer. You will start to see playstation keyboards and mice because there are many games that require those to play (world of warcraft). A controller is simply not enough. Once the keyboard and mouse are added, what you have is basically a cheap comptuer.Computers have the capability to run EVERY console game on the market. Computers are faster, they have better graphics capabilities, and have many more options. The only problem is that there are many games that are developed specifically for the PS2 or XBOX and are not ported to PC until later.Remember too that compturs are also getting cheaper. You can get a very good computer (that is like 3-4 times faster than a playstation) for about 300 now. Now that LCD TV's and Plasma TV's are so popular, people will start using their TV as a computer monitor (I know many people doing this now). So, it is similar to having a game console plug into the TV.As you can see, game consoles are becoming more like computers and computers are also getting cheaper and can plug straight into TV.
  23. i know yahoo has overture but that is only for publishers that get like 10 million page views per month. I would have no chance getting in there. Yahoo is going to launch it's PPC program for small publishers. Basically it's own adsense program. As for people making 100,000 a month. I know someone who makes 6,000-10,000 a DAY depending on the fluctuations. Even if what you say is true, that only 5% of users make more than 1000, it is still a lot of people. I think adsense has about 200,000 publishers (I remember the number, I forgot where I got it... maybe the annual report). With 200k publishers, 5% of those are 10,000 people. That is a lot. I'll be the percentage is higher though. My guess is that 5% of people make more than TEN THOUSAND a month NOT one thousand.
