  1. hi friends,This is an Easter Egg in Microsoft Excel 97.Here is a step-by-step guide to the 3D simulator environment..1. Open a new worksheet and press F5. 2. Type X97:L97 and press Enter. 3. Press Tab. 4. Hold down Ctrl-Shift while you click the toolbar's Chart Wizard button (the one with the three 3D shapes). 5. A 3D flight simulator will appear. The mouse controls flight; the right button moves you forward; the left button puts you in reverse. Have fun,Cheers.
  2. hi,yeah... the questions can be pretty stupid sometimes....like if you meet a friend at a movie....he/you ask... "hey! what are you doing here?"how stupid does that sound.. obviously he is not here whenever he is free... obviously should have come to watch the movie only...There can be many more such instances but we dont notice them in our daily life neither do we find them so odd... do we???Cheers.
  3. I asked "how many continents are there in the world?"2357It replied 2.....I repeated the question of number of fingers in a human hand"how many fingers are there in a human hand"2456It still says 2...As per my understanding.. it is selected the first option that we give.. psychologically most of the times we put in the right answer as the first option.. may be this is not true.. but at least to the questions that are not there in its database this seems to be the case...any other ideas???Cheers.
  4. hi friends,I just got a suggestion to make. Admins, just see whether it would help?Since there are some topics which are made just for the sake of it and not of high interest. What I suggest is that the topic starter can be given additional credits if he/she starts a topic which if of interest to more members. This can be judged from the number of replies that are generated or by the number of topic views. It can be set that for every 10 replies the topic owner gets certain credit points.or may be for every 20/50 views that the topic generates, the member can be awarded some credit. This would motivate the member to start more interesting topics. Please post your views on the suggestion. Discussion is welcome.Cheers.
  5. Hi kvarnerexpress, can you elaborate further as to what steps are you following.are you placing the war file in the webapp folder.is the war folder properly structured. are there any error messages showing on the console when you start tomcat?if possible quote the part of the log where the exception is occuring..Cheers.
  6. yeah... copy protection cannot exist... the best argument I can give for this is that.. whenever u have music you wud surely play it on your computer. Anything that plays on the computer sound card can be recorded by many softwares available over the internet... thus there is no way you can stop it... but the way to discourage it is to make it affordable so that copying is not worth the effort needed... sounds simple but it isn't...any comments??Cheers.
  7. The sheets are really helpful... I know mysql and a little of css so went thru those two and the organized sheet was great.. thanks for the link. Cheers.
  8. hmmm... I did not understand what you meant by random C/C++ riddle?? but I sure would post anything interesting that I come across..btw I am waiting for your riddle/puzzle??? nothing like a good C/C++ puzzle... Cheers.
  9. I have been using Mambo for a long time and love it in every way... I Found the administration more clear and better than php-nuke etc... php-nuke/post-nuke might have more features but mambo has quite a lot of components that you can plug-in according to your requirement...Have not tried wordpress yet...Cheers.
  10. Thanks osknockout, I thought abt contesting but the competition is damn good.. Also dont have much time on my hands now.. may be next time... but even looking at the winning entries gives a lot of new ideas and understanding of the quality of brilliant people out there... Cheers.
  11. I am not sure about the reason, but I suppose you could use some profiler or debug statements to identify the bottleneck first. After you know which part is taking up most of the 30 seconds, you can plan as to how to deal with it..Cheers.
  12. Hi friends,As far as I understand, the reason is that whenever you get hosting or upgrade an hosting, ur credits are set to around 3. This is to do so that you continue to post in forums even after you receive hosting...I think this happens for many other requests too.. this also makes sure that members do not request features that they do not need necessarily but are requesting just because they have enough credits...Mods/Admins please clarify if I am wrong...Cheers.
  13. hey, I did not know that bit about zip software, though I know a few compression algorithms and the most basic one being huffman coding... btw I was going through the official website of the contest and found new program submissions which were amazing.. could not believe what people cound pack in a C program with less than 4K characters(that is the limit of program for submission).. A few of the entries created graphics not easily made even in photoshop.... maybe comparing a bit too far.. but u need to see it to believe it... Also I suppose the contest is currently open, anyone interested...??? Their website as nagu gave is: http://www.ioccc.org/ Cheers.
  14. Definitely Tom & Jerry (video) and Calvin & Hobbes(print - comic strips)...though cannot decide between the two.. they are the best... Cheers.
  15. Thanks nagu, actually I could not remember the exact name of the contest. Now I remeber - "International Obfuscated Code contest".btw, it would be better if you put your code within the CODE block, using BBCodes. It improves readability and also the emoticons do not come up at unexpected places within the code.Cheers.

  18. hi friends, Have a look at the following code... Can u guess what this wud do... nope... no virus nor executable code... It is a completely valid and compilable C program... dont worry.. I have executed it on my system and it perfectly nice program #include <stdio.h>main(t,_,a)char *a;{return!0<t?t<3?main(-79,-13,a+main(-87,1-_,main(-86, 0, a+1 )+a)):1,t<_?main(t+1, _, a ):3,main ( -94, -27+t, a)&&t == 2 ?_<13 ?main ( 2, _+1, "%s %d %d\n" ):9:16:t<0?t<-72?main(_,t,"@n'+,#'/*{}w+/w#cdnr/+,{}r/*de}+,/*{*+,/w{%+,/w#q#n+,/#{l,+,/n{n+\,/+#n+,/#;#q#n+,/+k#;*+,/'r :'d*'3,}{w+K w'K:'+}e#';dq#'l q#'+d'K#!/\+k#;q#'r}eKK#}w'r}eKK{nl]'/#;#q#n'){)#}w'){){nl]'/+#n';d}rw' i;# ){n\l]!/n{n#'; r{#w'r nc{nl]'/#{l,+'K {rw' iK{;[{nl]'/w#q#\n'wk nw' iwk{KK{nl]!/w{%'l##w#' i; :{nl]'/*{q#'ld;r'}{nlwb!/*de}'c \;;{nl'-{}rw]'/+,}##'*}#nc,',#nw]'/+kd'+e}+;\#'rdq#w! nr'/ ') }+}{rl#'{n' ')# }'+}##(!!/"):t<-50?_==*a ?putchar(a[31]):main(-65,_,a+1):main((*a == '/')+t,_,a\+1 ):0<t?main ( 2, 2 , "%s"):*a=='/'||main(0,main(-61,*a, "!ek;dc \i@bK'(q)-[w]*%n+r3#l,{}:\nuwloca-O;m .vpbks,fxntdCeghiry"),a+1);} ok... so u give up.... put it in ur compiler and execute it... surprised...... yup there is a contest held every year, as to who can come up with craziest looking programs and the design and beauty of the program is taken into consideration to decide the winner.... I had a collection of such programs somewhere on my system.. will post them when I find them... Cheers.
  19. Hi friends, I am a great fan of Calvin and Hobbes. It is the best comic I have ever read... The first thing I look at in the morning newspaper is for this strip... Also one of the first things I do is look out for it first thing I get near my computer... it never misses bringing a smile to ur face... Undoubtedly the best imaginative and funny comic strip ever... Kudos to Bill Watterson.... If u still dont know what I am talking about.. here is an example which replays the strip from years ago.... it has a new strip everyday... http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1994/05/07/ Just read a few and I m sure, u too wud start liking it... Cheers.
  20. Hi friends, As u know, developers sometimes put in interesting functionality in the software they make. If these make it to release, they are termed Easter Eggs...There are many such across the software that you use...One of them is in excel...You would need Excel 2000 for this..(actually it is an easter egg in ms web components)But you access this from an Excel workbook saved as an interactive web page. It Requires Excel 2000, the Microsoft Web components, and DirectX to be there on ur system. If u have excel 2000 there are good chances that other two are also present.. just give it a try...1. Open a new Excel workbook. 2. Select File * Save as Web Page 3. In the Save As dialog, select 'Publish Sheet' and 'Add Interactivity' 4. Save to an htm file on your hard drive (any file name). 5. Open the htm file with Internet Explorer. (I have tried on IE 5 and 6)6. Scroll to the cell WC2000 and then scroll the sheet such that cell "WC2000" is the first cell on the left. Now Highlight the entire row by clicking on the row number of the left edge. 6. Press Crtl+Alt+Shift and click the Office logo in the upper-left corner. Your screen will be transformed into an auto racing game, with developer credits visible on the roadway. Use the following keys for the game:Arrow keys: to steer and accelerate Space bar: To fire at other cars O: To drop oil slicks H: To turn on/off your headlights (toggle switch).Have fun, happy racing...P.S. - I have tried this out on Excel 2000, but dont know which other versions of Excel does this work on. I dont have nything else to test. If u find this working on other versions do post the same here.. Cheers.
  21. Hi kvarnerexpress, The following javascript function can be used on each key press to verify if it is a digit. else you can show an alert box indicating only digits are allowed. You can extend this function to incorporate more features as u like, this is just to give u a start... function isNumeric(n){ if((n > 47) && (n < 58)) { return true; } return false;} btw a more useful javascript function that u can use after customizing is available at: http://www.shiningstar.net/articles/articlic.asp?ID=ROLLA Hope it helped u... Cheers.
  22. Hi kvarnerexpress,I dont know exactly how you do it in C/C++ but in Java you can proceed as follows:Create a socket and connect to google using port 80 for HTTP.Search using the search string in the url.something like google.com?search=.... (dont remember)Or may be u can use the google API's that are available.. I am not sure this is the solution but just a hint for you to proceed...I think there are sockets in C++ too.. so may be you can use them...I posted here whatever vague idea I got. If it was of any help to you, I would be glad.btw do post here when you get the solution. it might help someone else.Cheers.
