  1. Java Development Kit or JDK is the compiler, runtime and related files required to compile and run Java programs. You can download it from Sun's website http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/archive-139210.html Download J2SE v 1.4.2_08 SDK. Later version 1.5 is also available but this should suffice. Read the installation instructions available along with the download on the same page. It is an installation file, just execute it and install it. The directory that you install would be called the Java Home. Post back in case of any queries. Cheers.
  2. Have the cookies been enabled on your system. which browser do you use. May be the cookies are being cleared by some other program running in background. Please check.Cheers.
  3. It is a spam mail not from trap 17. Even I got a mail few days back. I am posting the mail header here, just in case, it helps prevent spam I have removed my email id from the header for obvious reasons. Also I have reported the mail for phishing.
  4. Yes, you can apply for package 1 now.Later when you have enough credits, you can request an upgrade to Package 2.Cheers.
  5. I have been using uni.cc for a long time but then suddenly it went off air... and I got a lot of mails saying that the site was not accessible. I had to then mail back that the complete address is ... but that wud be difficult to remember.. right..Hope that now it is back, it does not happen again.
  6. That was really nice one. I have lots of folders that I access regularly and have to maintain shortcuts... now I can just use permanent virtual drives..But does this work in Windows 98 because as u said we need to enter this in cmd, whereas Win 98 does not have cmd.exe but only command.comCheers.
  7. Actually they are going beyond 2GB, Its over 2050 MB now...They have put up a counter on the main page that indicates the current available space and wud increase as more available space is there for allotment.... Nice thing google thought of releasing it on April 1st. This is another of their marketing strategy.... people wud just love to discuss whether this is a joke.... but no its April 2nd now and mine reads over 2GB.
  8. Yeah 2050.3460.. and counting... but I seriously think who wud need allt that space. may be they have the same idea... nyways like solankyno1 said the best feature is the rich text formatting that we really missed.. now that its there.. messages would no longer be dull but rather colorful....
  9. I read somewhere that u need 7 credits to unsuspend ur account. I dont exactly remember but it would be worth getting a few more credits and checking out.. nyway 4 credits wont last long...
  10. Even I have been looking for such a feature. I would like to integrate it with Mambo cms.User logging into mambo should be able to post to IPB(i.e. equivalent to logging in) or else just view it(like guests).
  11. Hi, Sorry... Edit button missing so had to make extra post... A friend of mine sent me this links. (its more mathematical...) http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/russell-paradox/ http://www.cut-the-knot.com/selfreference/russell.shtml Cheers.
  12. Paradoxes are interesting bit of logic, literally meaning "a self-contradiction".Here is an interesting paradox:The Barber paradox is a paradox that relates to mathematical logic andset theory. The paradox considers a town with a male barber who shaves daily everyman who does not shave himself, and no one else. Such a town cannot exist:If the barber does not shave himself, he must abide by the rule andshave himself. If he does shave himself, according to the rule he will not shave himself. Thus the rule results in an impossible situation.Had read one related to a lawyer and his fees.. would post it as soon as I recall it completely or find it somewhere on my system...So... any others that you know...Cheers.
  13. Hi,yeah, I too have been having problems with uni.cc since some time.Earlier it had problems redirecting some of the time, and my friends thought that my site was down. Then I gave them the Xisto address. Now, it is completely gone. hmm.. whats happening...?
  14. It is a format of assigning address to routers and servers, in fact each entity over the internet. IPV stands for Internet Protocol Version. Earlier IPV4 addressing was used. It had 32 bits for each address with 4 parts of 8 bit each. People thought that this would be more than enought to assign a unique id to each device on the internet. But that was a long time ago.. in the 80's. Internet has come far since then. Now these address space is getting exhausted and hence they have come up with IPV6 addressing. These addresses are 128 bit each. The headers for IP packets that have these addresses are designed so that both IPV4 and IPV6 type of addresses can co-exist till the time all the addresses are migrated to IPV6. You would understand it all better if you have some idea of networking and IP packet protocols and routing. The following link to RFC is the best and clear explanation of the IPV6 standard. http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2460.html Hope this was useful. Cheers.
  15. It not always too much worrying. If you have researched the stock well and are sure of it giving profits. u don't need to worry. coz.. though it might not give ur good returns in the short term.. but over a longer period it would definitely appreciate in value thus giving good returns...so invest in a company which you know is fundamentally strong and where the growth prospects are high... If u put is some startup, u are taking a little risk but if it gains it would give u higher returns. No doubt 15 years ago, most of the folks would not have considered microsoft giving such returns, but those who had belief and held on.. are now rich..In the stock market there is one principle : High Risk, High ReturnLow Risk, Low ReturnCheers.
  16. The major change in JSP 2.0 over JSP 1.2 is the introduction of EL(expression language). To control the EL u use the attribute in the page tag. <%@ page isELEnabled="true|false"%> The syntax of EL is : ${expr} where expr can be any valid expresion like boolean, integer, float, String or null. It can be used to refer to implicit objects available in the jsp page, just like those available in scriptlets. These are: 1. pageContext 2. param 3. paramValues 4. header 5. headerValues 6. cookie 7. pageScope 8. requestScope ... The variables and methods of these objects can be accessed directly. ${param.name} <=> request.getParameter(name) also it can be used as ${6*3}, gives 18. It is a powerful language, intended to reduce the use of scriptlets in the JSP file so as to completely separate the presentation and business logic. Other features include --> JSP fragments --> Tag files --> Simple Tag Handlers ( implementing the SimpleTag interface) I would post more detailed info as soon as I am able to. The best reference for this specification would be : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Also, finally there is always GOOGLE..... have fun Cheers.
  17. I am able to go to http://www.bravenet.com/ Maybe sthg wrong with ur system. Actually I had used bravenet long time back and still receive mail now and then. So I suppose it has not shutdown...moreover, it has quite a few revenue sources, so the chances are less... but these days u never know...
  18. Credit cards are good if used carefully. If u have sufficient cash that you dont need anytime soon... I wud not use my credit card. There are some banks offering virtual card services. i.e., the credit card company would generate a virtual credit card linked to ur original card. U can use this card no the same way as ur original card. But the advantage is that you can specify the limit on ur virtual card and it also expires in 2/3 days time. Though it is linked to ur original card, there is no way the online store can get hold of ur credit card details. Chek out if ur bank offers the same. It would be worth it even if it charges a small fee coz.. it offers you peace of mind... no credit card frauds....Cheers.
  19. Thats gr8. Though I wud not be needing all that 150MB or the 5 GB bandwidth any time soon....nyway gr8 going.... Thanks.
  20. Wow.. I can't wait to have a go at it....The graphics are too good.... It says that it would start shipping in the second half of 2005... I wonder what would be the minimum h/w configuration requirement for this.....?? Any ideas?Cheers.
  21. Hi,I too received my CD's two days back. I did not expect it to be delivered so soon. The distribution contains a live cd, which u can use to run linux without installing on ur hard disk. Just put in the cd and boot using that... and lo... ur linux is on....I have not tried it out completely, but wud do it soon. It has been less than a month since I ordered. Also I have not tried the installation, but live Cd gave me no problems except that the music player does not play mp3 that it is supposed to.It gives an error 'no plugin found'.Has anyone encountered such a problem. If u know the solution pls do post. Also, yeah Nils has got some good reasoning there. It wud cost them less than advertising otherwise. and this way more people wud experience it.But earlier most companies restricted it to certain country not acknowlodging the fact that computers and OS are used worldwide and u need to reach out everywhere if u want acceptance.I also gave off a few to my friends, a few more to go.. I suppose I wud be short soon.... but nyway I can always burn copies if the distro is good enough..Cheers.
  22. Had a look at the website.Looks cool. Do post the procedure here if you are able to install it on your site.Cheers.
  23. First run Scandisk and check your disk for errors. This utility would correct the file errors if any and mark unrecoverable sectors as bad. After you do this, run the defragmentor utility. The best thing if you are facing major problems would be to backup ur data on that drive and format it. If it is the drive with the OS, then make sure you backup all ur setting and some in the registry too....This should definitely speed up ur system.
  24. hi friends,I am planning to appear for Sun Certification Exam (SCJP). Can anyone list good online resources that would help in preparation.Any advice/hints are welcome. Thanks in advance.Cheers.
  25. Hi theRealSheep, As far as I know, the modulo or % operator works only for int and also returns an int, so no way you can get 0.1 or something.. also, the operator would wrap around i.e., the number would get negative and all that ( but not sure). what I suggest is take the input as a string. Then use strlen function to find out the length. After u do that use a for loop and convert all the string characters to numbers. cin >> str;int i = strlen(str);int t =0;if(i==5){ for(int j=0;j<5;j++){ if(isdigit(str[j]){ t = t*10+(str[j]-'0'); else break; // not a number }}else{// do something else coz length not equal to 5} This code should work. though I have not tested it. If u want to print reverse just run the for loop in reverse i.e, j =4 to 0 Check it out and confirm if it helped. Cheers.
