  1. pretty cool. i like the water alot but not the people so much. dunno, they just look tooo.....photoshoppy. :-P if you know what i mean.
  2. Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,Why you never see bright colors on my back,And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,But is there because he's a victim of the times.I wear the black for those who never read,Or listened to the words that Jesus said,About the road to happiness through love and charity,Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.I wear it for the sick and lonely old,For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,Each week we lose a hundred fine young men. And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,Believen' that the Lord was on their side,I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,Believen' that we all were on their side.Well, there's things that never will be right I know,And things need changin' everywhere you go,But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,You'll never see me wear a suit of white.Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,And tell the world that everything's OK,But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.
  3. yup. but there still are a lot of racists in this country. If another african american activist with as much determination/popularity as X came along he would probably be assasinated too. also, according to this site, 50% of african american children are growing up in poverty, so the problem defiently isn't solved.
  4. yeah this is in my top five list for my favorite books. it's so damn coo, and better then the spike lee movie. Everybody should read this. It shows the racism of american society and what X to help people stop being brainwashed. It starts when he's young and stuff, being called n*gger by his teachers and his family being torn apart, and as he grows up he enters a life of crime and drugs. Eventually he gets arrested and is drawn to Islam by his brother while in prison. He didn't know it at the time but the Islam he was following was not actually Islam, but a racist cult posing as Islam called "The Nation of Islam." Anyway he joins this for 12 years until he figure out that the Honorable Ellijah Muhhamad (the head of the organization) has commited adultery, something you're not supposed to do in the Muslim religion, and also is jealous of Malcolm X. Anyway, he goes through a number of changes in his life and it's a really inspirational/informing book. READ IT. READ IT.
  5. nah, im pretty sure at least some internet companies sell non sweatshop apparel. Probably some local clothes store do to. Remember, if you're supporting Nike, you're supporting unfair child labor! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ try that store. looks pretty good. i've found others but didn't save the links.
  6. great site design! it's simple and....calming. i like your photos too. keep up the good work. are you gonna have a section where people can order prints of your work?
  7. Yeah, I had a substitute at my religion class one day and she told everyone to gather around and pray. So everyone got up to our seats and we said "Our Father" and "Hail Mary" or something, and then she's like "And let us pray that the Yankees win tonight," instead of actually praying for something like world peace. on the same note, I heard a couple of my friends say, since the religion school I go to once a week is also a regular 1st-8th grade building in the daytime, that when our town was having school elections, almost the whole school voted for George Dubya. That's kind of scary since he started a war, you know, and killed tons of Iraqies. oh wait....another dumb thing said by a Christian (although this guy was pretty cool otherwise), who spoke at the retreat my class went to: (and I'm paraphrasing) Guy: "You know what the worst Genocide is?" Kid: "The KKK?" Guy: "Well, the KKK is an evil group, yes." Kid: "Hitler?" Guy: "Yes, Hitler's genocide was horrible, but there is an even worse one taking place in the United States. Abortion." But remember homies, not all Christians don't really know their religion. check out http://www.bruderhof.com/ . They're a group of Omish-like Christians who I visited who are really nice and they know how to practice Christianity. This isn't really true. Buddhism (my religion that I'm going to convert to after Comfirmation) has no real god. And there's no heaven or hell involved. Also, I was reading the Malcolm X biography and how certain parts of the Muslim religion have no heaven or hell. So this is false. Of course, there are fake kind of buddhism where they pray to buddha and worship him, etc., but in real buddhism he is seen as a teacher.
  8. i'm trying to stop being addicted to stuff because it's worthless, you know, to be addicted to stuff, because after you lose the addiction, you just attach to something else. For now I'm addicted to old folk/gospel music. Two good men a long time gone, left me here to sing this song....
  9. nah you didn't offend me. with music like that you gots to expect to get tons of criticism. heh. but i probably won't take your advice though. thanks bud.
  10. my parents watch it and they've been watching it for pretty much the whole time i think. The auditions stop getting funny after 3 minutes. And they still laugh. It's the same damn thing every show. "You are the worst singer!" "That was amazing!" Who gives. The people who they think are good are usually completely unoriginal anyway.
  11. Yeah homies? Got any movies u wanna review? Post em here and tell all dah homies what to check out and what not to. Here's mine: MALCOLM X: PLOT:Yo bro. Well, the plot is Malcolm X's life. This movie is based on his Autobiography, eh. Yeah. The movie begins with Spike Lee, playing "Shorty," walking to dah barbershop to give Malcs some "Conk." Conk is like this stuff that makes your hair turn red an' short and stuff and it burns like little_dogs. Anyway, he uses this stuff ta make him look "white," because, as Malcolm says in his autobiography, there was somewhat of a sense that the lighter skin african americans were better. He eventually recieves a revelation from Ellijah Muhammad (some cult Islam leader) in jail and becomes a Muslim. But Muhhammad is a son of dog as you will see as the movie progresses.MY OPINION:yEaauauuh. The first half is notta that good, if you know what I mean. I likes the last half though. Pretty noice. It's corny at times, I must say. D. Washington is pretty convincing as X a lot of times. And his reenactments of the speeches are really good. Yup. In my opinion, Malcolm X's autobiography is better, even though I'm only like a quarter thru. But the movie is pretty good so if ya hab a few of the buckies, go rent it.RATING: 3/5
  12. revenge won't do anything. Just makes things worse, ya know what I mean? when he starts bothering you, stay cool and act like you don't even care.
  13. yeah i pretty much agree with that. not just the people who use it but how they use it. Like, if you use technology to wash your dishes, mow your lawn, blow the leaves, blow the snow, etc... you won't be that healthy, unless you do tons of monotonous excersises. i don't have to worry about the raw meat tho cuz i'm vegetarian.
  14. is it just me, or do both of those companies have sweatshops in other countries where little 10 year old girls make the shoes? I know nike does for sure but does adidas? Ahh, i'd rather support cool small companies rather than giant corporations. You know?? you knowwwww? OK. i'll see you homies later.
  15. Do you think humans should keep getting more technologically advanced, or should we start using less? You see what I'm saying? We kind of being controlled by machines, if you know what I mean, and we should live much simpler. I mean, we shouldn't get rid of all technology. I guess this post is ironic because I'm using a computer. but That's my opinion. post yours.
  16. heh heh. not sure where to post this. Yeah i was on the radio (https://wfmu.org/) last night for my birthday show. I contribute to the "best show on wfmu" hosted by tom scharpling, so he has a birthday show for me once in a while. We played with a band made up of some of the DJs there. Twas pretty coo i guess. Yeah. you can listen to the archive if you want here: https://wfmu.org/playlists/BS/ go to the Feb 1st archive.
  17. yup. some kids just play it for fun and stuff, but some of my friends always talk about how "nukes are so cool" and about "how cool iraqies dying is." They're kind of scary. In the same day they talk about the new game "where you get to blow up everyone" and shoot people, so they may be connected. dun dunnn dunnn.
  18. I'm up to Part 3 in this book. Anybody read it? I likes, i likes. Apparently it's a classic now. It's about this guy and his son who go driving on motorcycles on a road trip kind of thing, and he tells a "chautauqua" throughout the book, which is I guess is a lecture/story. Anyway, he's trying to find his true self and figure out his character is the past, Phaedrus. You homies should check it out.
  19. heh heh. ok. thanks. I dunno, I like scruffy stuff. I might actually paint or use artist markers to make the backgrounds. Yeah i saw the grass tool before. For some reason i don't really like using dah different tool pictures. I wish photoshop had more options for creating your own brush. BTW, your images doesn't work for some reson.
  20. I was sittin' round the house right, then I suddenly a thought popped into my head to make a website showing companies that meet at least one of the site's criteria:MADE IN USASWEATSHOP FREEANIMAL FREEORGANIC (food only)UNIONIZEDEMPLOYEE OWNEDthat way people can find stores they like by what they believe in. This way, less people start shopping at WALMART, etc... Of course, I couldn't make this by myself so a few of my older friends are volunteering to help. heh. people can also add comments, submit errors, and post their own favorite companies. I'm just wonderin' peoples opinions bout this, or sumtin.
  21. well, don't HATE them. then you're doing the same thing. you should check out this book: Why Forgive by Johann Christoph Arnold. Read the description on the page. Then buy it for that person.
  22. rap is a bunch of people screaming? Even though people screaming makes pretty good music, you're saying it in a derogatory term. Rap is like poetry. Except with beats. sees what i am saying?
  23. dragonball z? come on homies. Is it just me or did no one mention COWBOY BEBOP? thats like the greatest anime. one of the most original animes out there, and it has awesome music. and Castle in the Sky is like the best anime movie ever made....rent dat homies. And all dah Hayao Miyazaki movies even though I didn't see all of them....
  24. i hate linkin park and most of the stuff on mainstream radio. Most of the songs sound like their the same song, made over and over again., not just linkin park, but all the alt. rock top 40 stuff. like this...read these crappy lyrics. Restless tonight Cause I wasted the light Between both these times I drew a really thin line Its nothing I planned And not that I can But you should be mine Across that line [Chorus:] If I traded it all If I gave it all away for one thing Just for one thing If I sorted it out If I knew all about this one thing Wouldnt that be something thats by finger eleven. Christ. Bull****. listen to WFMU. It's a good freeform station
  25. its a pretty good design. btw, the vistor number says 00000000000 on the main page after pressing enter. theres also a couple of error pages. (links, sitemap.)
