  1. Even if the service isn't all that great.. it's always good to see what's going on out there and keep up to date on what's good and what's not.
  2. If I could have ABSOLUTELY ANY CAR.. Well.. I've narrowed it down to 4.In no particular order...-1969 Dodge Charger-1968 Chevy ElCamino-1998 Toyota MR2-2006 Audi A8All of them stock of course.. I'll do my own work (Except the Audi probably wouldn't change much heh)
  3. The idea isn't to sit there and spend all of your hours doing their stupid little things to get money. The idea is to do it, ya know, just when ya got some free time or something. These aren't get rich quick schemes.. these are 'Hey! You're not doin anything.. might as well be gettin paid to do somethin' schemes. Many of them that are around aren't necessarily 100% kosher but there are plenty that are legitimate. Just don't be expecting $100 checks for clickin some links unless you plan to be putting a lot of hours into it. It isn't a job..... don't expect it to be =)
  4. I'm back! Well, I never really left. I've been a member for a month or so now but I got a name change and cancelled my old hosting account. But I'm postin again and going to get a new hosting account!Gotta say, of all the "post on our forums to get free hosting" sites I've come across, this one is the best.
  5. Good good. The service looks interesting enough. Invite only is it? I'll have to check it out later on.
  6. haha most men won't admit to reading the articles or anything in magazines such as Cosmo, etc. The truth is, we read them to learn about women AND to look at the models =) . Even magazines that are just about fashion and women's life tell a lot about the female psyche. It doesn't need to be full of just 100 UBER SUPER SECRET FACTS to be informative.
  7. You can't externally link to images hosted on Tripod. They don't like to be used as bandwidth-sucking image storage. Instead, you might try uploading your image to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  8. How about this: It was posted here because this is the "general" section. I don't believe there is a rule about not posting bible quotes. However, if he is trying to acquire webhosting, copy/pasting scripture isn't exactly the right way =Pinyourarms, I don't believe your first post here was necessary. He wasn't asking you to become a religious person. He wasn't asking ANYBODY to. Infact, he wasn't asking anybody ANYTHING. He merely posted a quote from the bible and his beliefs. His retort may have been anything BUT friendly and church-going, but I believe it may have been warranted. When he starts pointing fingers and condemning us for being atheist (or whatever) then I'll speak my piece. Until then, just let it go.
  9. When did just being the best person you could be and believing in god, and the whatnot, become not enough? I'm atheist personally, but when I hear the words "only one mediator is needed to reach god and that's Jesus" .. I'm pretty sure that means the bible goes in there with the priests as not-needed.
  10. Ever heard of the IBM ThinkPad? It's now called the Lenovo ThinkPad. That's right, Lenovo IS the next IBM. They purchased IBM's PC unit for a cool 1.75 billion dollars in June of last year. Lenovo is a Chinese hardware development company. From PCs to cell phones. So, in addition to IBM's hardware, they will be adding their own to the equation as well. This could make for some quite good PCs and notebooks. You can read up on the following links for more information about Lenovo and the acquisition of the IBM PC dept. Pre-Acquisition: http://search.about.com/?q=pcworld Post-Acquisition: http://search.about.com/?q=pcworld
  11. Personally, I think Hotmail is good (don't start throwing stones yet, hear me out).Hotmail was my first e-mail provider. I got my account when I was 14 (close to 7 yrs ago) and I still have the same account. Hotmail and I have been through a lot together. Facelifts to the site, improvements, 'new' features that just sucked, etc. Now, I don't use the e-mail service itself, I only use it for my msn messenger identity.I'm not saying that everyone who doesn't have one should rush out and get a hotmail account, but if someone is new to the internet and they just want an e-mail account to get started, I believe hotmail is the way to go. It's good for newbies, but I wouldn't even consider using the e-mail service now that I have gmail. (note: I havent used hotmail e-mail actively in at least 4 years)I don't think they will ever just phase-out Hotmail. The foundation of millions of peoples' online identities revolves around Hotmail.
  12. I don't believe this post belongs in "The Vent". I'd put it elsewhere.. this is where people come to vent stress off their chests.. not to preach about jesus and his holy-crew.Thank you.
  13. If the principal of that school honestly thinks he's accomplishing anything, he's not. A: The extent that the issue should have gone to is sending a letter home to parents warning them about myspace. B: I'm pretty sure they can't rightfully suspend you because of something you do at home in your time away from the school. That would be like getting detention at school one morning because you were swearing at someone's house or something the night before. C: The only way this could apply at all to children having MySpace would be in particular instances where the school is named. Based on that rule in the school's handbook, so long as the child doesn't mention at all the school they go to, then where's the basis? I'd like to get my hands on a complete copy of that school's handbook and admissions contract.. as well as an e-mail address for the principal. Just because it's a 'churchy' school.. doesn't give them the power of god. People have rights.
  14. Obviously there are good points to both.Being the youngest (of only 2) I always got picked on. I was always the 'younger brother that wasnt cool enough to hang out'. Older brother beat me up often. He got better things before I was allowed to have them (BB guns, later bedtimes etc).. stuff like thatBut, of course, being the youngest I was more spoiled. My mom had more of an idea of what to do. I got away with everything and my brother got in trouble. I was "the baby" and thus was showed favortism (it's not right but it tends to be how things are).. etc etc.I'd say that being the younger or older isn't much better or worse than the other. However, being a middle I would imagine is worse.
  15. Outsourcing is a virus. Sure, it creates jobs for people. Sure, some of them are in the U.S. But, not enough of them are. When I went to the McDonalds drive-thru a couple hours ago, I spoke to a gentleman in Sri Lanka. I live on the west coast of the U.S. There is no reason I should be talking to someone in India via menu speaker when I'm ordering a Big Mac. As for larger companies not outsourcing;T-Mobile outsources (I worked for them)Nextel outsources (I worked for them)McDonalds outsources (see above) ... this is only a couple. I could go to my old employer's website and give you a list of about 100 'major' corporations that use outsourcing. It just seems to be how people want to get the job done these days. The question.. is it worth it? I believe so. There are stories about people losing their jobs due to outsourcing in other countries.. but you never hear about people happily working their job at an outsourcer in America. Though they do take jobs away.. I think they just might make far more job openings here. We'll call them an unavoidable evil. Not really necessary.. but it's there anyway.
  16. I play... Ultima Online (yes... still). I just can't seem to get tired of the game.. and all the newer ones with flashy graphics and huge guild battles have yet to entice me enough to switch.
  17. I know there isn't much point to the system.. but it makes people nostalgic and they buy it. There HAVE been complaints about the controllers and I've seen one or two complaints about the video.. but a novel idea nonetheless.
  18. It really depends on what you're trying to do. What dashboard did you install? What version is your X-Box? What mods are you trying to install?
  19. Oh man.. where do I begin. I suppose the better question would be.. do I even want to get into this lol. I still have Diablo II (though it's not installed because I just reformatted yesterday) and I still play it from time to time. I've been trying keep my D2 play limited to when I have absolutely nothing better to do and I can't sleep.. but sometimes I still get sucked in. I don't have very many memorable experiences with D2... ok.. let me rephrase. There WERE memorable experiences, I just can't remember that... for various reasons. I do remember, however, that D2 (and D1 as well!) was a lot of fun and I wasted many... MANY hours playing it. Please god, don't let them make a third one.=P
  20. As much as I always hated X-Box, I have to say.. the last 3 NFS games to come out changed my mind. I've played Most Wanted and Underground 1&2 on both PS2 and X-Box and the controls, graphics and sound all seem to be better on the X-Box. If you can handle getting used to the X-Box controls after playing PS2, then I recommend NFS:MW on X-Box instead.
  21. Always... ALWAYS... !!!!ALWAYS!!!! back-up your work. You never want to get caught in a situation like that. When I run a website I have the copy on the webhost, a copy on my hard drive (that I update with the newer stuff), a copy burned to CD (which I dont update AS often) and a copy zipped up on a different webhost that I have. Back-ups are very important. Also, the note about domain names that someone else posted.. VERY good idea. You can get one at godaddy.com for like $8-9 per year... not much. And then you never have to worry about losing your place on search engines or people updating their bookmarks so long as you keep the domain up... then it doesn't matter what your hosting is doing.
  22. Ya.. I guess I just never understood what drove people to abuse priviledges given to them with responsibilities. I waited a long time to become staff on a gameserver and I've never had the thought to cheat or abuse my powers once. Some people are just dishonest I guess =/
  23. Ya, there are an awful lot of stupid people. Since I left the server there has been 2-3 more instances of abuse of staff-power.. and they still do nothing about it. Oh well, that's why I left it.. not my problem anymore =)
  24. It's not the game that's the issue.. just those particular staff members. It's ok.. I'm working on my own servers =)
  25. The following events led to the subsequent deletion of my hosting account :: I'm a staff member of an Ultima Online free server (rather, I was). We had a Developer, we'll call her Nikki for lack of a better name. Nikki liked to cheat. She liked to cheat and harass players. She justified her actions saying "my scripts i can do what i want" (Actually I think the grammar was worse). Well, I caught her one day recently and informed her that she was in the wrong. Now, I'm what's called a Game Master on the server. I'm 1 step below Admin, 2 steps below Developer, Nikki is the Developer. She didn't believe I should be telling her she can't do something because she "will do what what she wants when she wants to whoever she wants" (except once again, my apologies. It was far more garbled than that but I refuse to retype her exact gibberish). Anyway, she saw right to ban my staff account. So that's 2 accounts she banned with no just cause in a 10 minute period. One a player's and the other a staff member's. Tsk Tsk Nikki. So, I spoke with the other 2 developers and the admins and they unbanned both of the accts and said they were going to get rid of Nikki. One of them, we'll call him Dymonic, said he had some plan to catch her doing something.. and then he was going to ban her. In the meantime, she banned my account again (I had it unbanned) and re-banned the player's acct as well. Once again her justification was that they were her scripts etc etc. So, knowing completely that the woman was going ban-happy on people and cheating and trying to ruin the server (I have a screenshot of her saying "I don't care I don't give a <expletive deleted> about this server anyway").... the Admins still kept her. And subsequently.. she fired me... the last thing holding the server together. So, I deleted the website (that I also built and they wanted to take.. but that's a story for another time). So, all-in-all, great service from Xisto! I may have to re-register and get some hosting for myself, but I cancelled this hosting account. Never work with questionable people. This "Nikki" (that's her actual name with the server) is the friend of a previous Admin to this same server that paid for the gameserver hosting with STOLEN credit cards. Hmm.. Anyway, if you come across an Ultima Online freeserver with any of the following:: -Named The Myth -irc channel is #themyth on irc.gamesurge.net -any ties to gameslider.com -or has a staff member by the name of Dymonic, Hardox, Nikki or VoodooVane.. Stay away from it. [note: as a gesture of courtesy, I'm to inform you that Dymonic, Hardox and Nikki weren't a part of the credit card ordeal..]
