Long Time Sigger First Time Requester
Zythrix replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Ok SM.. I've been out of Photoshop for a while.. this isn't the best.. but here's what I came up with. The quote "Emitte lucem et veritatem" means "Send out light and truth". I thought it appropriate due to your forum name and the chosen render. The render is, of course, the Archangel. Let me know what you think. -

Ok, here's a couple I put together. They're both pretty simple.. one's animated. #1 : #2 : Lemme know what ya think. -
-I'm using Windows XP with SP2. I don't buy pre-built computers.. they aren't worth the money to me. Inside my computer I have a 300 watt Antec power supply, an ECS motherboard (PT800CE), Intel Celeron 2.4 GHz proc., 512MB PC3200 Kingston DDR Ram, Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR Vid card, 160 GB Western Digital Caviar 7200 RPM HD, 80 GB Seagate 5400 RPM HD, a generic DVD+RW and a cheap keyboard and mouse. Now.. out of all of those pieces of hardware, you seriously want me to throw it all away and keep the mouse, keyboard and monitor? And trade for a Dell? Are you high? And I already have Windows XP Professional w/ SP2 .. I wouldn't use Media Center. I haven't tried a different mouse yet, I only have the 1 and it's just a cheap Dell optical mouse. I've checked the IRQs.. no conflicts.. I will find a different mouse and get new drivers and let you know how it goes, thanks. haha.. I'm not looking to replace my whole system (motherboard and processor I wouldn't mind replacing).. and I don't think the computer gods are listening to me anymore =(.

So, I had an issue a while back with my computer. The power supply had died. The computer sat dormant for about a month before it was fixed. So, last night, after putting the power supply in, I boot up the computer and everything is dandy. Then the processor fan decides to start making noise. Usually I can just kind of push gently on one part of it and the noise will go away. But no, not this time. The noise got, easily, 20 times louder. So I shut my box down and pulled the fan and heat sink. I fiddled with the fan for a bit.. took a sticker off.. adjusted a clip.. put it all back together and it was fine. So I boot the box back up.. and it just hangs at boot up after the memory test. I try various things (re-seating the ram, all PCI devices, removing any unnecessary devices, etc etc. It just wouldn't work. So I shut it off and went to bed. I wake up today.. boot up the computer.. all is well! It boots up to Windows and I attempt to login. But after I move the mouse for about 3 inches I get a b.s.o.d "Hardware Error. Call vendor for support" .So, I reboot again and it boots fine again.. no blue screens or anything.. except one problem. The mouse isn't working at all. So, I swap it between a couple different USB ports and such and reboot a couple times.. and then it works. Now my current problem is random lock-ups and sometimes my mouse cursor will freeze but the mouse still works. Meaning you can move around and click stuff but the cursor doesn't move and you can't see where you're clicking until you click.Like I say, it's just been one thing after another lol. I don't do anything wrong when I'm putting them together. I don't treat it badly when it's running. It doesn't have viruses or adware or anything like that. I just have the absolute worse luck with computers heh.

I HATE talking on the phone but for some reason people love to call me. My cell phone plan has 1500 minutes, free nights and weekends and unlimited mobile to mobile. I still use about 1300 mins in addition to the off-peak minutes and minutes used talking to other people on the same carrier. So realistically, I use about 3000 mins a month. Then there's SMS. I have unlimited SMS on my plan and I send about 2500 SMS messages a month. For someone who hates phones I sure do use them a lot heh.

hahaha... I'd have to say Lust =PI just can't help myself =)

Well, honestly I wouldn't have expelled you. I would have suspended you, removed your computer priviledges, not allowed you to bring your laptop to school and make you subject yourself to random searches at the staff's will. But at that point, if I was the student, I'd probably just want to be expelled heh.I can see some schools punishing you in such a way for just connecting your own computer to the network. The schools in Iowa, for instance, would be pretty likely to expell you lol.

haha I find it quite funny actually.. but then again.. I wouldn't complain if the staff swore and still said no swearing.. it's their site =) Not that bad language is a big issue really.. but whatever! I can express myself just fine with or without "foul" language.

If you've ever seen The 40 Year Old Virgin: I don't like to make short posts, but I don't think anything could sum up your post any better than that =)

Easier Way Of Living By Using Power Off Grid
Zythrix replied to wild20's topic in Science and Technology
Ya know, there are lots and lots of people around the world who have solar panels on their roof or, basically, a miniature hydro-electric power facility in their back yard connected to the river or creek or whatever happens to be behind there. Lots of people also use the wind for power, setting up small fields of windmills that send electricity back to a house. But solutions like that don't work everywhere. You can't rely on the sun for power because there is nighttime and cloudy days. You can't rely on a creek or river for water because somehow the water could stop (though this is probably the most consistent natural energy source). You can't rely on wind to gather electricity because it just isn't always windy. We need something like cold fusion to REALLY abolish fossil fuels =) -
Your Favorite Card Game? Tell about youre fav game here
Zythrix replied to JC05's topic in General Discussion
It would probably be a tie between Rummy, Gin and Egyptian Rat Screw. Most people probably know what Rummy and Gin are but I will explain Egyptian Rat Screw (or Egyptian Rat [expletive deleted] as we call it around here). Players: 1 deck : 2-3 players (any more players and you should add a 2nd deck) Objective: Collect all of the cards. The Deal: Each player gets an equal portion of the deck, all cards are dealt out (make sure no jokers are in the deck). Cards must remain face-down in a pile for the player to draw from. The Turn: The first player takes the top card from their face down pile and places it face up in the middle of the table (the object is for no one to see the card until your hand is away from it.. including you). Then each player follows in a counter-clockwise sequence. Winning: As stated, the object is to get all the cards. There are a couple of ways to do that. We'll start with the first: --Doubles: When 2 people in a row play the same card, any player may "slap" for it, meaning whoever's hand is on top of the doubles when the hands stop slapping gets to pick them up (ex: two queens are played in a row by player 1 and 2 and player 3 slaps the doubles and picks up the whole pile). --Face Cards: Now, when you put down a face card, the next player has a certain amount of chances to put down another face card or whoever put down the last face card wins the pile. The number of chances are based on the face card: Jack - 1 chance Queen - 2 chances King - 3 chances Ace - 4 chances (Yes, I know it's not a face-card) (ex: Player 2 plays a King.. Player 3 puts down a 2 and then a Queen.. so Player 4 now has 2 chances to get a face card or player 3 gets the pile). --- That's basically all there is to it. Keep doing all of that until you have all the cards and you're set. There's other little house rules and such that people like to add sometimes, here's a couple: - Sandwiches: This happens when the 2 cards in a row are seperated by another card, thus making a sandwich that you can slap on to pick up the pile. (ex: Player 1 lays down a 4.. player 2 lays down a queen.. player 3 lays down a 4.. player 1 spots the sandwich and slaps the pile and picks it up) - Slap-ins: When you go out of the game (lose all of your cards), sometimes you are allowed to slap back in. Meaning, you basically just sit there and watch for doubles (or sandwiches if you're using them) and slap the pile to get back in the game. ------------ I've spent hours and hours playing 1 single game of that. Coming back from 1 card and winning.. it's a lot of fun. We don't use the sandwich rule around here often (honestly I don't think it's necessary and it just slows down this game of speed) and the game is usually too slow for slap-ins, but I've seen some crazy things in that game!! -
I don't drive like an [expletive deleted] but I refuse to sit around and wait for slow drivers if I can help it. I'll either take side roads (generally at speeds a lil over the limit but I watch for kids and cars and such) or break out the rally-driving skilllzzzzzzz (heh) and zip through traffic. That kind of driving tends to anger more people than the slow driving for some reason. The way I see it though, I'm moving too fast past them for them to do something stupid and I'm out of their way before I even have time to be an annoyance and I'm gone. People say things like "I'm a good driver, it's all these other idiots on the road that are the problem" .. That makes me think. The other drivers on the road aren't a problem for me.. lol how good of a driver does that mean I am =P

Professional athletes are paid more for 1 reason. People PAY to see them. If you think they make too much money, don't buy anything sports related ever again. You're little baseball caps, sports-team t-shirts, etc.. all of that goes to those players. In all honesty, if firefighters were more entertaining and had a job worth publicising, they'd make more. But the thing about most firefighters.. they aren't in it for the money anyway =)

I think I have something worse than the power going out. My cable provider is the backbone of my home's entertainment and communication functions.First of all, there's the cable television. I'm not much of a fan of it myself, but it has it's uses.Second is our internet connection. 8mb cable broadband.Third is our land-line phone. It happens to be a Vonage broadband phone.:-)So, when our cable goes out, we can't watch television, get online or make/receive telephone calls. Thankfully one of us has a cell phone though. My cable has been down for 5 days.. All I have to say is, "Comcast, I hope you've got knee pads".What do you suppose is worse? The power being out and no chance of using most electronics?Or still being able to use it.. just not to it's full extent. It's like teasing.=(

MySpace isn't so bad really.. it promotes a lot of bands and musicians and artists that would normally go unnoticed. I've found over 30 people I haven't talked to in 5+ years. My friend's girlfriend just got rich doing photography because of MySpace. As ridiculous as MySpace seems nowadays.. it's still doing some good.

LoL perhaps if people would stop worrying so much about censoring and start worrying more about whether your kid is happy or not it wouldn't be such a problem =)

Basically the same thing here. The word 'prep' or 'preppy' has been pretty much generalized into association with younger people (teens, etc) who usually live in a mid-upper class area and wear particular brands or styles of clothing. For example, people who wear brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy or Gap are normally thought of as preppy.
-
Oh swearing isn't so bad. What's the difference between saying 'poop' or the expletive version? They both mean the same thing. Why is it decided that even though two words mean the same thing one is a bad word? That just doesn't make any sense. Has anybody really thought about that? I enjoy my vulgar language purely because I don't see it as such. I amuse myself with how offended people get when I swear. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?Do you want to know why bad words ARE bad words? Because one day someone just decided that a word should be bad. Ridiculous.
-
You really can't generalize the statement like that. Not all "teens" are bad drivers. I've been driving since I was 10 and at 10 I was better than many adults I see on the road. If anyone shouldn't be allowed to drive it should be some elderly.. but not just based on age.. based on eye exams, awareness tests, etc. Just because someone happens to be a teenager, that isn't necessarily going to cause them to be irresponsible =)

Things are nice and quiet around here today =) The girl apologized to everybody in the house. I told her by no means was I accepting her apology and she was going to have to spend some time re-earning some respect. She's been pretty good so far.. asking for things instead of taking.. not bringing extra people over.. bought everbody dinner the last 2 nights. So we'll see if she's actually trying to just brown-nosing. She knows she doesn't have any chances left so for her sake I hope she's trying.

Well, this ISN'T a democracy.. they have no rights or priviledges here.. it's not their house. Besides.. if I charge someone more it's because I don't like them and if they get mad enough they won't come over and that's fine with me.
