  7. Food for thought on the subject of the Muslim religion, since it seems to be the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!!!

Allah or The Lord Jesus Christ? ... By Rick Mathes

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs.

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great resentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.

After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war]against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel,

(which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers! "

I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?"

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of "a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar."

    He sheepishly replied, "Yes."

I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine the Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!"

    The Imam was speechless!

I continued, "I also have problem with being your 'friend' when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?"

I truely hope this is not the belief of all Muslims in the USA.

Edit: To level the table on the subject, I have received This Link in rebutal of this article.

  9. I live in a small town on the east shore of Lake Michigan. It is 8,000 population and in the midst of a National Forest. Known as the Victorian Port Village; we still have shipping on a regular basis during the spring, summer and fall. Fortunately I live on the bank of the river channel and get to watch them navigate into our local lake. We have some problems with substance abuse, but it is more with alcohol than anything else. The young people get bored because they don't have all the recreational activities of the bigger cities. Our one movie theater is struggling to stay open. We have a casino north of town for the adults. But, we just built a big new High School which made the students very happy. With open selection in our state, students can elect to attend it even if they don't reside here; so we draw from outside because of the new educational facilities. We hope this in itself helps the local teens function better in more diverse social situations. Because of our small size, some of our children have trouble coping with the big, wide world when they venture out into it.

  11. I basically agree with everything Truefusion has said, especially about the dying matter. It is indeed easier if the partner has died. You allude to the fact that this guy is egotistical and cocky. This type of person usually doesn't really experience genuine love for others, but loves themselves through others, if you get my drift. In another way, he loved that you loved him because you made him feel he was in love. If he had really loved you exclusively, a one night stand wouldn't have happened, that is called cheating. I know you, at your age, will probably suffer a while from this breakup; as it wasn't just puppy love. Hang in there, it will get easier as time passes. You will never forget, but your will accept it and live with it eventually.

  12. So glad to hear you all survived. How lucky you all are. This kind of accident is usually fatal. I am glad you only suffered a broken rib, for I know a lady who was in a similar headon collision, survived the crash and later died from injuries she suffered from the seat belt.

On the other hand, I have witnessed an occasion when not using a seat belt saved my step-brother; as he got clear of the situation. A close friend died because she was wearing a seat belt and was trapped in her car under water. Another occasion a friend's mother, the only passenger in the car wearing a seat belt, was killed while the other 3 passengers survived.

Yes, the majority of the time properly used seat belts save lives as do the air bags. I use a seat belt all the time. Unfortunately there are occasions when nothing will save you, but the grace of God. But buckle up anyway.

  13. Very interesting StMike. I being one of the people on an old copper wire connection wonder at the possibility of this happening. The only fiberoptics available to me at this point is through my cable TV network and the cost in our small community for this is prohibitive to those on fixed incomes. So I struggle along with my landline phone connection, pulse at that. I did manage to get my ISP to throw in their accelerator option free to me. Their closest network connection is some 20-25 miles from me and their main base is in Chicago over 300 miles from me. It is fairly dependable, but has its quirks now and again. Uploading and downloading is a trip. Anyway, I hope a crash doesn't come any too soon.

I do believe we have more senses than scientists have recognized. We only seem to use a small portion of our brain capacity. Perhaps we don't use all our senses either. We need to challenge ourselves to further develope our capabilities.

I have not actually seen dead people, but I have heard them. Then I have had such realistic dreams about people that have passed, that I have to awaken myself and get in touch with reality. It is like they are coming to me through my dream state. I am open to the idea of spirits and messages from the other side. It certainly is spooky, though. Most of my experience with deja vu

deja vu \'da-'zha-"vu\ n [F, adj., already seen]: the feeling that one has seen or heard something before

has been through my dream state as well. I experienced air flight in a dream before I had ever really flown and it became reality later. The only difference from my actual experience was that in my dream I viewed the happenings from a pilot's vantage point. Everything else happened and looked as it had in the dream.
