If I recall correctly, there was a modification for PHPBB quite similar to this, although its functionality on any template not named subSilver was absolute null. Hopefully, it works a bit better on Invision Power Board. I should test it out.

Advanced Google Searching bend google like a ruler
Kioku replied to jmb2006's topic in General Discussion
This should help alot of people, especially since regular google searching reveals the less relevant results first usually. At least from my experience without going to advanced search. -
How Can I Make My Site Load And Work Faster?
Kioku replied to affhotspot's topic in Websites and Web Designing
BMPs aren't really suggested. PNG works for me. Less size, but it's also a lossless image format. JPG is probably the best bet, although you risk some loss of image quality. Some programs allow you to select the JPG's artifacting rate, if I recall correctly. You can't go wrong with GIF, but make sure you have the right program to save as Graphic Interface Format, because you can risk a loss of pallette which will make the image look really weird. Also, consider making everything nice and simple, without 1,000 images loading at once on each page. Not only will it slow down the loading time, but it will kill your bandwith. If you have some images you want to show on your site for people to view that aren't directly related to the background or layout, consider using a program or just using even MSPaint to thumbnail the image in quest. CTRL+A or selecting an area, followed by CTRL+W can allow you to select how much percent smaller you want the image to be. Also, don't be afraid to use tiling background images or less colored ones with the CSS specifying how it will tile. Hopefully, this will help you out and all. On another note, forcing background music is a bad choice and will slow down the page's loading rate. If possible, try having them linked to or something like that. I hope that helps you out. -
Seriously. It's Microsoft, so go figure. I wouldn't expect them to iron out ALL of the kinks, less than I'd expect them to create a brand new operation system entirely from scratch. After all, it's Microsoft. All I have to say about that is "LOL". It might just be that fact I'm not a Microsoft fan-boy. :| I'm glad the BETA testers caught that, at least. Else wise, there would be some serious problems in the future of Vista's usage.

This is kind of odd, especially in the sense that everyone else immediately thought of Harry Potter comments and I might be the only one who had a load of Star Fox 64 quotes to say. Oh well.

Personally, I CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open up Task Manager and look through the currently running processes to see what might be using the file that is currently "in use". Although, I'd imagine rebooting or rebooting inside of safe mode mya laos prevail as a method of deleting the file in question to reassure it is not in use.

Personally, I haven't played it yet, although I'd expect it to live up to the rest of the series and to my expectations.

I seriously doubt there is just one meaning of life, especially since the justification of existence varies from any self-concious being. Everyone has their own set of reasons why they live and go on or they don't. Some times there aren't even meanings at all, but hey. Living happily works for everyone. Elsewise, my personal one has been to leave some sort of impact on the world. I'm sure alot of people share this, while others don't really have any sort of agenda before them at all. Before I get caught up in a meta-physical rant, my belief is that life is just life. Whether something sparked it or if it happened randomly, we should enjoy what we have while we have it. There's not much else to do. Nobody knows what IS or IS NOT for how existence came to be. Enjoy it while you can. You don't have forever.

Microsoft has always had things like this happen to them, only to make claims like this. I remember Web Junk 20 clip thing of Windows 98 crashing in front of a giant display and show off of the new operation system.

What Does "niggling" Mean? Great word, especial in arguments

To be quite frank, I believe it is some form of the word "*BLEEP*rdly" which means to be miserly of petty. -
Give Me Suggestions creating a site
Kioku replied to imobilecentral's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Perhaps you could offer various things webmasters and/or internet addicts would be looking for. For an instance as many others have stated, a forum is a great way to create a community. Offering resources is one method of trying to lure in people as well. Afterall, why would people visit if there's nothing to look through/at? -

Teenager Claims To Find Code Flaw In Gmail
Kioku replied to dark_drgn's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I knew that anything as good as Gmail deffinitely had to have more flaws other than the security and prviacy problems that have to be considered occasionally. It's good this was found out before a malicious use could be put forth, at least as somebody previously stated. If a person did, they'd probably sell all of the emails to spammers for quite the giant wad of cash. -
What Is Targeted Advertising? how google ads work
Kioku replied to psychiccyberfreak's topic in General Discussion
This isn't really anything new. Targetted advertising has existed for quite a while, using marketting focus groups and the like. All advertising generally uses this same concept, since they wouldn't want to be paying for an advertisement slot that would otherwise be completely useless. On a related note, I do believe Google explains how its ad system works, detecting certain words on a page and supplying relating ads. Although, this system is very flawed. I remember seeing something on Google Is Too Creepy about an article about how a brinkster home security person broke into a person's home and killed them or something in a news article, then Google supplied a Brinkster Home Security ad. Not everything's perfect, then again. -
Validation should be a good idea. I should do that, considering I have some old pages I should convert over and fix up so they'll work on just about any browser.

I really don't see what all the hype is about this. To me, it seems pointless, really.

In my own humble opinion, most theories of how things came to be are simply fascinating. Man kind ( mankind as one word? I have no idea ) has always been trying to figure out where everything came from, as it works in larger senses. It's just interesting that how random sequences of slight genetic change shallowed out and the surviving organisms are what they are today. From an evolutionary stand point, it can lead one to wonder what could have happened if everything happened slightly differently. Anyway, as I was saying.. That's quite true, as I see this happen all the time in school.

How To Stop Image Hot Linking for a selected directory.
Kioku replied to Avalon's topic in General Discussion
Having one's bandwith slashed down isn't a good thing. Anyway, if I recall correctly, CPANEL's method is the way easier than the alternative method. This guide should help people from having their bandwith totally messed with, though I'd imagine. Good job. -
Is It True Or Hoax Gmail Service Shutting Down? donotreply@gmail.com
Kioku replied to brainet's topic in The Internet
It's obviously a scam. Report it, I'd say. On another note, I highly doubt the egotistical Google would call themselves "Your Email Service Provider". They stamp GOOGLE or GMAIL all over it and often use graphics when emailing with their logo. -
I really don't understand why so many people are reluctant to take a few moments and learn HTML codes, but instead choose to use Page Builder. If only they knew the benefits of making the pages their own self. After all, the best page builder for me always has been notepad and typing out the HTML code. Less hassle. lol
-
It's not THAT bad. But yeah, unless if you have anything to hide, nothing to be afraid of. That does exagerate gmail a bit much.

To be completely honest, I've heard of such a thing able to do this but never actually knew its name.
