  1. Busy doing my second degree at University, did a Bachelor of Science and am now doing a Bachelor of Business, still got AGES to go but in a few years time I'll have dr. in front of my name instead of mr.
  2. That's awesome! Great to see that people are still out there giving it horns in the gaming community- not only being users but making a great contributions that make all sorts of gaming that much more an experience. I'm looking forward to seeing the site up and running in full force in the coming weeks.
  3. Sounds like your dad, like mine, has a bit of a temper or he just really really likes beans! I know exactly what your talking about though my dad will get so stressed and worked up over the smallest things, to such an extent that one doesn't even feel like asking him a question as the response is very likely to of a negative, cynical nature. One learns to live with it though and to not take it personally, it's just the nature of the person.
  4. Mine was in my second year of university and i was really drunk and had some other substances in me and was going strong with an awesome girl but had cheated on her on a frequent basis. In my intoxicated state I decided to send my one friend a text message saying "Sup chris- was with different chic last night, havnt told hayley and don't intend to". What I didn't realise is that I actually sent it to hayley! Minutes later I received that exact message except from hayley. I have never ever ever had a panic like that. Just talking about it now is making my heart beat faster. I remember upon receiving that message I burst the biggest sweat of my life. Somehow, don't ask me why, she forgave me my of my sins(even after trying to play it out as if I was kidding around with her...).
  5. "Can the computer still be improved?" OF COURSE! I can guarantee you people were asking that question 10 years ago and will be asking that question 100 years from now. There are still tons of things that can be improved. Many of these elements are available today but still too expensive. I think that within 5 years cables will completely be a thing of the past. With so much wireless technology available, everything will be completely wireless. I also think that the internet will really be embedded into every aspect of our life. I definately also believe that mobile phones internet access will be much more user friendly in a few years. If every car had a GPS we would basicly see a huge deduction in traffic jams and congestion as a central authority would be able to redirect groups of traffic heading to cause a backlog. Studies show that 20% of todays jobs wern't invented 5 years ago and it will be the same scenario in another five years.
  6. I use my computer mostly for work and study but it's also my entertainment system. I havn't played games in years but thoroughly enjoy watching videos and listening to some good mp3's. Of course one could not forget the use of the web to update my page and do the general surfing thing. I enjoy my PC but make a concerted effort to not let it rule my life and to spend less than 2 hours a day on it.
  7. Could somebody please explain to me exactly what Gmail is and whether it's any good or not? I understand it's something google-orientated but am unsure of what makes it so special and whether or not I should get involved with it.
  8. I'm a big daydreamer and often just drift into fantasy lands and stuff. Never written any of the stuff down though but can definately apprichiate where your coming from!
  9. I'm 21 years old. Been an awesome 21 years so far, having an awesome time at College and am a few months from being having a Bachelor of Science and then really off to the big world. Scary stuff but a step everybody has to take!
  10. I havn't been to a lan party in several years and pretty much doubt I'll ever be involved in one ever again. I used to enjoy them thoroughly but grown out of them pretty much these days and definately don't have enough time on my hands to participate in one, 4th year college- what a *BLEEP*.
  11. Of course a rubix cube is easy if you just remember how you mixed them up... come on people, that's really not the point of the game. Let somebody else mix it up and then see how easy it is, you get some people who are ridiculously good with it.
  12. I'm currently living on a prawn farm in Australia and we don't have broadband coverage here yet, I've got a 128k ISDN- not too bad, better than dialup and it gives me a good reason to not spend all day in front of a PC! Will hopefully get broadband sooner or later though.
  13. Bravo, good to at least see somebody not shouting "I love the internet!" or "The internet is my life!". The internet has definately helped many many aspects of life but it makes slaves of people. I enjoy the internet thoroughly but make a real effort to never use it if it's a sunny day or anything. Basicly I try to not let it get in the way of me doing something better.
  14. Does anybody remember the original Zelda on nintendo. Now that game rocked, I remember the one game came in a gold cateridge, that was awesome, I would get up at like 5 to play it. But I guess many of you might've been too young for that then. It's pretty much incredible how far games have come over the years though and scary at how much better they continue to become!

    Athens 2004

I havn't played Athens 2004 but I used to have Sydney 2000 and that game stank. That was a real shocker of a game and by the end of a 30 minute session your keyboard would be lucky to not have lost function of a key or two. The whole game was just banging on the keyboard constantly and when you played two player it was just a contest of seeing who could bang the keys quicker. I hope Athens is a lot better than this, is it available on PC?
  16. I would like to have the ability to hack. The only problem is that I think it might become an obsession after a while, seems like a bit of a geek lifestyle though- spending hours and hours behind a computer, barely ever leaving the house to go and play a good game of soccer or something!
  17. Just wondering if anybody here has ever been stupid enough to torture themselves by buying a rubix cube. I bought one and all I can say is that this square, colourful, plastic device has plagued many hours of my free time in the past few days. I've heard of some people doing them really quickly but I'm not even close, whenever it seems as if there is a clear solution you just get bitten by a horrible clash of colours!
  18. How much is the potential weekly income. Is it really worth while? I'm a 4th year University student and am always a little strapped for cash but don't have the time to read emails if it isn't worth my while.
  19. Wow! That's been a fair wait since the last patch. Man, what a game. Those were good times, you just can't beat Blizzard for making absolutely cracking games!
  20. My all time favourite is Command and Conquer: Red Alert. I've never been more addicted to a game in my life! None of the other Command and Conquers have ever even come close to living up to expectations after that.
  21. No Command and Conquer after Red Alert 1 has ever lived up to expectations for me. Man I loved that game, I think I might even go play it now. I was extremely dissapointed with generals, it just didn't seem to have the overall gameplay effort that the first few command and conquers did. Do you remember how cool the videos and stuff were in Red Alert and Red Alert 2 as well, man those were the days. Sad to say but I far prefer warcraft these days. I still think back of how awesome it was to have10+ war factories, airfields that filled the whole screen and armies so big that the computer could barely handle the game when you were in battle.
  22. I'm a big fan of skype and use it often to communicate with friends across the world. The sound quality is crazy good and it really truley feels like your using a normal phone. They also have a paid service where you can "phone" any normal phone in the world from your PC at one flat, very reasonable rate. I would make sure that one has some sort of broadband though as there could be a delay otherwise.
  23. What!? Quake 4? Man I'm out of the loop. I basicly thought that the new Doom was Quake 4. I still havn't even played that. Man I love Quake 3. Is there a new Unreal coming out sooner or later? Did you guys prefer the original unreal tournament or the newer unreal releases? I thoroughly enjoyed Unreal Tournament but though it was a bit slow compared to Quake, the bots set the standard though for AI opponents.
  24. Hey, just read about how fast voice over ip is growing and was wondering how popular it is in the states. Within the next 2-3 years physical voice over IP phones will be very popular and will have their own service providers and the works. Goodbye costly long distance/international calls once and for all. One problem it does pose is a bandwidth problem which could lead to some calls having echo's or being delayed. I'm excited though, virtually free calls to anywhere in the world!
  25. Hey, I don't know if you guys remember the Duke Nukem 3d craze but I was very much a part of it at the time and I remember seeing duke nukem forever originally advertised for release in 1998 and even saw a video clip preview for it. It had an awesome sound track and everything and it kept on being delayed, eventually it was meant to come out last year. It seemed so official that it could even be pre ordered off some websites. Does anyone have any info as I would love to kill a mate and then shout "Hail to the king baby" a few more times.
