Thanks for looking into the matter, guys. KDEWolf, no, I've not set the 'remember' login/password. And hence, I have to put BOTH Login ID AND Password everytime I log in. XboxRulz, what you suggested is a one-time remedy. But that seems to happen every time I login to those sites! I need some solution that would fix the thing forever! I think there's some problem the way Firefox renders these pages. Or maybe the pages are mis-comfigured to focus the wrong field first!

It seems funny that all are talking about various versions of Windows, when the Topic Title clearly mentions '...on XP' But anyway, I tried out what was mentioned in the first post, and here's what I concluded- Yes! The trick works, on Windows XP Home Edition without SP 2. I got that at my friend's place, and he was bewildered at what his brother could do to his PC as an Admin if he knew this!!! No! I does not work with Windows XP Professional Edition with SP 2! That's my PC, and boy I was glad it didn't! This concludes that Microsoft was made aware of the vulnerability and it corrected itself in the Service Packs, like so many other bugs! So, its a tradition of Microsoft of leave bugs unnoticed in the first place and then correct them using heavy-loaded Service Packs!

Windows isn't cheap, no it isn't! It cost a whole lot of a fortune as compared to what we can use! Anyway, that makes one of the reasons why Microsoft cannot afford to make their OS open-source! Besides, everyone knows how 'patched-up' Windows is! Firstly, all its modules are vulnerable to at least 1 issue that crashes the whole OS, at the time of release. Then they patch it up by Service Pack(s). So, if they make their OS open-source, they'd be revealing their secrets about the jumbled-up and faulty source-code of their OS(s)! They can't risk showing people what a mess they're selling them! (I don't mean to say Windows is a mess, but it still does crash, doesn't it? ) As also, if they were to tidy-up the code for release, they'd take another few years to release their next OS! (Look at Vista , damn! ) But you got to agree, there's no OS like Windows to have a closed-source, a great GUI and the worst bugs of the OS world, to entertain the worst viruses of the universe in it!

Like most people, I too have to fill in many form-fields everyday on the Internet - login fields, search boxes, and what not! I use Orkut, and I sign in to it about thrice everyday. Now, I have a 128kbps ISDN connection, while I clear up my dues for the Broadband (Boo!) and I've noticed this- When I type my login ID in the respective field while the page is loading, the Password field automatically gets focussed when the pages completes loading! ven ehrn I'm half-way through typing my login ID, I end up typing the rest half in the Password field! This problem has been noticed with many other form fields too, so I don;t think its Orkut to blame. Also, my predictions are that Firefox doesn't completely support ASPX, since Orkut uses ASPX and so do others that have the same issue! By the way, here's what I use- Windows XP Professional SP 2 (If that's going to help! ) Mozilla Firefox v1.5.0.4 Fasterfox Extention Adblock Plus Extension Please help me out if this problem can be solved. I'm new to this problem, since I used to have 512kbps Broadband (without any dues ) and the page used to load real fast!

No worry, Mafamba, everyone suffers that at the first time... Even I had 23 credits when I applied for the starter package, to be left with just 5 credits! Then again I piled up around 50 to opt for the Basic package, and yet again, I was left with no more than 5 credits! It really doesn't take much to pile up credits, so don't worry about them as yet! Once you get used to the forums, you'll never realize when you go over 100 credits in little time.. By the way, the answer to you question - Hosting credits get down by 1 per day, don't count the fractional part. Also, you can have -ve credits till -30 (which is BAD) and after which your account gets deleted! So you'd better keep your credits as they say, above 10!

That's a nice method, now that the Russains use it! Its up to us to decide whether we just and to multiply or BOTH multiply and divide at the same time! And how do we decide which number goes to the right and which goes to the left? By the way, has anyone tried doing that method to multiply a number by 2 (Though pyost told us not to use this for small numbers, I'm still doing it )? 2 | 456 1 | 912 Answer ---> 912 I hope that satisfyies your question, pyost - it works that simple You're just doing the multiplication in terms of 2, and balancing the remainders on the left side... If you don't get it, I'll write a more rigid explaination next time, I have to run right now...

Microsoft's Memo To It's Indian Staff - Hilarious
Omkar™ replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Software
Great Humor M^E, especially all the Indians seem to have enjoyed it!But doesn't anynody think it isn't in the right forum? I mean, its not exactly "Computer Talk" is it? -
See the extreme effect of virus-makes, that team up with Microsoft? We all have the habbit of associating virii on Windows with a hard disk formatting! And starting from scratch installing Windows (That too XP Pro) is not a peice of cake, Yordan. It takes the whole day and at the end you're still unsatisfied since you got to put on a whole lot of 'starter' software before you can get started working on it! So, if you can work with another OS just fine, then I'd suggest you keep it till you can!

Its pretty difficult to say so in a world full of software, but if you ask me, I can list the ones I use daily- Winamp - Its always running in background with a playlist of 500+ songs with the 'Enhancer' plug-in. Firefox - My only browser is on the quick-launch so that I can pop it up every now & then! Thunderbird - I use POP3 Mail, its so convinient and snappy, that I hardly ever goto webmail! GAIM - A jabber client that I use for Google-Talk, since G-alk seems to crash very often on my PC (I wonder why ) Yahoo! Messenger - Those Yahoo! Emoticons and Audibles have no beat to all my buddies out there on Yahoo! DU Meter - I need to keep my bandwidth in control, so i use this handy tool to measure my bandwidth usage, and tell me on-the-fly speeds! Frontpage - For managing my site out here on Xisto! That's all I can think of now, since I use the other softwares depending on my mood to do things, so its not quite that often ! Besides, you mentioned not to say those Antivirus and Firewall software!

Oh, Grafitti, those woes must be really anoying then ! Since you're working with Windows, I'd be glad to diagnose it as a virus attack. No, that's not just an amateur comment. You most probably have a memory-resistant worm in your PC. And worse still, it has affected the MBR of your Hard-disk(s). I see no reason why the virus should remain in the RAM after you power OFF, but in your case, if un-plugging the RAM chips works, then you might be having some trouble with your motherboard power management. This means that your RAM chips are still getting power when you 'power off' your laptop. Hence, even removing the batteries should solve the problem (temporarily! ) Its not very convenient to diangnose your problem as hardware-based or software-based. But as per my calculations, if its a virus, then its obviously software-related. It wouldn't be any use doing a virus-scan (If you can do it, anyway ) since it would be memory-resident and your scanner wouldn't be able to do anything about it! The solution I recommend is to check whether your laptop works with a different hard disk. If it does, you can erase the MBR of your hard-disk to keep the virus during boot-up and then quarantine it using a scanner. I understand that having fatal problems with your laptop when you've got work to do can be very annoying So three cheers if your repairman can fix it, if not try my solution. I can help you out more if you're stuck with no one to fix it, since I have tackled MBR-related virii myself, better than technicians, on my friends' PCs. Hope you got your work going on standby resources!

I was really addicted to the I'net during my vacations, when I had a lot of time and a lot less things to do, but now I've got college to attend, and its consequent studies too! Hence, my online timings have dropped to just about an hour or two everyday. Sundays are exceptionals, as ever. But since I'm a student, I don't have much work to do online, and I'm mostly found chatting, or contributing to forums online! It was nice of wutske to post a graph of his measurements here, showing us how he really is online ! Anyway, most of the people out here seem to be well addicted to the Internet (Except that they can live without it, Alegis ) and three cheers to their contribution to Xisto!

You've made your point, but here what the 'geeks who have switchted over' would agree upon- Opera Yes, it does. But the Firefox interface is much better and easier. And a better reasoning is that Opera was meant for MacOS Users. It was just ported to Windows due to its popularity (Windows'). Hence, it works more efficiently with a Mac and not Windows. Netscape It was you who said- So if you'd do a brief research on WHY that happened, you'd find out how Netscape (however new it might be) fails to be a good browser in almost all aspects. Besides, its highly incompaitible with many sites today. Internet Explorer 7 Now that's some thing you shouldn't have mentioned. There are positively hundreds of posts on Xisto talking on this controversy! But in a snap, I'd like to tell you that Internet Explorer has copied features from Firefox just to keep up in the race! Seriously, its such a cheap play, anybody can copy other's ideas and features and port them to their software! Its the one who does it first that matters! Hence, I'd like to conclude that firefox is still great around, and even more with its innumerable extensions and add-ons! Three cheers, you need to do some research yourself! (Kindly excuse me if I have been rude in any manner or my views have been misconcluded.)

Well, from the disscussion going on above, I'd like to clear the definition of a "Download Manager" here! There's a great difference between "Download Accelerator" and "Download Manager"... A download manager manages your downloads, categorizes them, shows the transfer rate etc. and a Download Accelerator does most the above and also speeds up downloads (Or at least claims to do so!)... I use Fresh Download (http://www.freshdevices.com/) for my downloads. It fullfils all my needs - Categorized Downloads Pause/Resume Multiple Connections Tranfer Rate/Graph Estimated and Elasped time Integration with Firefox What more does one need? I got a fast enough I'net connection, so I don't need an accelrator. The site offers it for free. Just that they take your E-mail ID and send you the link to download and the registration codes (they're free too!) and then they send updates for their products weekly. Might be Spam, but you can success fully unsubscribe!

I am currently studying in preliminary college, and we have “Complex Numbers” as a part of our syllabus. Its definition can be made as- Z = a + i b (Where a,b are real numbers and i = √-1 ) Now, we have i = √-1 and hence i becomes an imaginary number. But we have figured out a way to expand our imagination, and relate it to reality! Here goes, just some mathematical operations playing with the unity and, i = √-1 (By definition) Therefore, i^2 = -1 (i^2)^2 = (-1)^2 (Squaring both sides) i^4 = 1 <--- How cool is that?! Now reverting back, i = 4√1 (4th root of 1) And hence, i = 1 Now isn’t that interesting? Nothing done illegally, within the rules of mathematics and voila! We’ve torn apart the definition of Complex numbers! But there might me a hitch, something done wrong, can you spot it out? What is the catch in this? It took a whole lot of time for me to type this thing in, but anything for a forum reply! But really, if that happened, I would be at par with! P.S.:If you're wondering what that garbelled sign means, its the square root sign (√).

Recently, I've been having -ve credits (Boo!) and I get the usual message on the home page of the forums. Here's that message- I think I may suggest the following gramatical correction: "UN-SUSPENDED" should actaully be "to UN-SUSPEND" "Account is" ahould actaully be "Your Account is" I hope some Admin would look at this and correct the message. Afterall, correct language indicates the quality of a website!

Free Gmail Account! Click here for one.

Uh! I'm confused! What exactly is the difference between a Google.com and Gmail.com account? Just the domain? What difference does that make? -
[tutorial] Basics Of C Programming - Part 2
Omkar™ replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
Alright, that did make a great Part II, and you didn't screw up any code this time either! Good work, but you missed out some things (Of course you can't teach C Prog. in 2 parts ) so I'd write Part III, if I get time, that is! No, really - I'm working hard on my website right now, and filling up my forums too! Honestly, you should be adding some examples and some assignments too, as a good tutor!!! -
I have been encountering several problems while attempting to use the 123FlashChat Server on my hosting account here at Xisto. (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) I tried to start the server by passing a command via the SSH Telnet utility on port 22, and received the following error- I request Admins to look into the matter and respond to me. I need to start this service to my visitors as soon as possible.

Hey, Captain Ron, Please tell me on what base have you constructed that 'software', because I believe that it is not possible to integrate in to the ASPX script of Orkut directly. Likewise, are you affiliated with Orkut in any manner? If not, I think you'd need a disclaimer here! Since this is a public portal, you gotta take care! To Mauh : The link is working perfectly fine for me!

Backup Problem In Cpanel Heres the error...
Omkar™ replied to Omkar™'s topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yes, vujsa, that post was really informative and help a lot too! Here's what I discovered- My download manager cannot accept connection from a specific port (Other than port 80), hence it rejects the connection from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/:2023 , so that turns out to be a problem with my download manager. When I tried that backup, I think I was experiencing double-peak hours! The Xisto server was busy and loaded, so was my ISP - resulting into low speeds (say around 200-256 kbps as to normal rate of 512 kbps) and frequent timeouts! Obviously, I could not transfer huge chunks of data successfully at such times! So, basically the problem was with my ISP and the Xisto server overload. So I cannot blame either party for this! I found my solution in a peaceful environment- Getting down to work at absolutely unearthy hours like 3 am or so, my ISP got me perfectly 512 kbps of speed, and the Xisto server running fast too! And guess what? I successfully downloaded the huge chink of backup bypassing my download manager , but getting through at least! The only thing that was working a bit slow at that time must have been my sleepish brain! So now, I should apologize for dragging the Admins into this and bothering them with what not! Many thanks to vujsa for explaining me my problem! I still wonder what went wrong with nightfox... -
Wireless Congestion In My Room! Damn this technology
Omkar™ replied to Omkar™'s topic in Computer Networks
Being succumbed to public pressure, I've resorted to switch over to wired technology as son as possible to get things working around here. Someone please clarify which of my devices precisely should I get wired around? Also, I just remembered and I'd like to add- I have a microwave oven right in the adjoining room, which I quite often use with these things going no (haywire!). Would that cause some problems too? (My knowledge base on wireless technology and wavelength/frequency is awfully bad, I guess ) So, help me! (I got those headphones coming in someday this week, please!) -
Backup Problem In Cpanel Heres the error...
Omkar™ replied to Omkar™'s topic in Websites and Web Designing
Unfortunately, nothing in the backup section seems to be working for me! Well, I'd like to give a detailed scenario - I see that error in Cpanel that I mentioned and it drives me nuts! I try to click on 'Generate Full Backup' and 'Download Today's Backup' in 2 tries. Nothing happens, I see a blank page! Nevermind I refresh the page, and my Download Manager takes over. It shows this error- Same for the other link. I dunno why I need to refresh the page to get things happening! Now its about time some Admin looks into this and solve the problem! Also, as nightfox said, I may also be getting a corrupted file header that makes my Download Manager reject it! -
This is the first time I'm making a backup of my site using Cpanel, earlier I used to do it manually using FTP. But my first experience is not very convincing, I should say... Here's what I see when I click on 'Backup' in Cpanel- Please check this and help me out!
