Hmm I considered wireless keyboards and mices but never had experience with them since I didn't like the idea of having to use batteries all the time.. How is their responsiveness compared to wired solutions? Also, how long do the batteries last?

Isn't the implementation of they PhysX card atm rather shoddy though? As I recall, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter experienced a drop in frame rate whenever there were explosions with the PhysX card as compared to without it.Considering that the PPU card is supposed to do these calculations, I don't see why it should see a drop in frame rate. The debris shots that I have seen looked rather ridiculous and unrealistic as well not to mention that they disappeared really quickly.Considering the price of the card and since it doesn't really add performance except add a couple of sprinklies, I don't think physics cards just right now are worth it though some of the other demos that use the card in novel ways are interesting (though they still suffered lacklustre performance).

I would think a bio solution would be more likely especially if it's bacteria you're aiming at but who knows that nanotechnology would bring in the future...like...clothes that mend themselves. lol

Well I used to be a pro gamer but now that is gone since I have finished my degree and ended up working. Guess that makes me a little biased. Once I have used these mice, I will never ever go back as it's not just psychological reasons that make me love these mice, it's the fact that I can bring these mice around with just little twitches of the hand that make them really perfect for long use as I find big movements injure me.

nVidia Geforce 7950 Gx2 With 2 GPUs on one card...can we say Damnn...
roggle replied to kgd2006's topic in Hardware Workshop
By the way, the implementation of Quad SLI that I have seen have been massive failures, the small increase in frame rate does not justify the immense price. Also, in the implementations I've seen, if the game does not support Quad SLI mode, it switches off and turns to ONE of the graphics card...which is 'underclocked' because of heat issues. This leaves the other three graphics card doing NOTHING. It doesn't even go into normal dual SLI mode. This may be fixed by now but still, having underclocked cards just seems against the whole idea of having two graphics card in the first place.Secondly, the noise from these things is tremendous and not to mention the heat dissipation of a Quad SLI.The games that do support Quad SLI show minimal increases in performance which may be a driver issue...but...ugh it just doesn't seem to be worth it.1) The only reason why you would need Quad SLI is if you're running resolutions of 2000 +.2) Yet these games run very jerkily even when Quad SLI optimized3) It costs a bomb4) Sounds like a bomb5) Expensive like a bomb.WASTE OF MONEY... -
I actually own a Razer Copperhead 2000 dpi laser mouse with onboard memory that costs around 80 USD. It was a treat for finishing bar school and i enjoy it immensely.Considering the time I spend on the comp, it is great having a highly sensitive mouse not just for gaming accuracy but for office work as I can bring the mouse around the screen with the minimum of movement thus reducing the risk of repetitive strain injury.A mouse is the kind of thing that if you buy a good one, you won't have to buy one for years and years. I also have a Razer Diamondback (60 USD) that I have been using for eons on my other computer and I am sure it has paid its price off.The price is a lot I have to admit and although I enjoy my mouse, I do agree that although it is important to have a good mouse 80-100 USD + is a lot of money and probably spent better elsewhere. I think the Diamondback is a good go in between with a 1600 dpi resolution and is very comfortable and accurate as well.Anyway check out their site at http://www.razerzone.com/. It is a manufacturer worth thinking about instead of right hand oriented Logitech mice...

Check out utopia... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ One of the most famous text based games with a thriving community. I think it is the first of its kind and even though it appears simple, it gets really involving and many people have played it for years on end. Has a large worldwide community as well and made many long term friends through there as well.. Basically it's about managing your province, training troops, invading other ppl's lands and working with the kd to win standings. It's tough to explain here but do go and try it out. It is turn based. However if you are looking into real time stuff then I suggest you look into MUDs though personally they are just MMOs without graphics which isn't really something that interests me since it's just a step backward rather than something unique of a text game.

Well I never had a problem buying hard drives off the net and they do tend to be cheaper. Still, best to contact your seller and if not go to your manufacturer which would have a manufacturer warranty.

What Do You Think Of My New Laptop (Sager 5720) Sager 5720

Very very nice. Have you tried Tomb Raider Lost Legends with Next Gen content turned on? That should push your system quite a bit.FEAR should also be a good challenge. -

Open Document is that the Open Office standard? What is so good about it? I have thought about switching to Open Office but in the workplace hardly anyone uses Open Office so it doesn't very practical in the working world. Requiring clients to get a viewer all the time surely defeats the purpose of ease of use.Or am I mistaken and is open document viewable with anything? -
Found out a way for non XP Pro users to do it. http://www.theeldergeek.com/qos_bandwith_reserve_setting.htm Hope this helps, please tell me how it works out!

Internet Access On Airplanes. a good thing or a bad thing?
roggle replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Is it WiFi or WiMax? Cause WiFi's range is really short. Is Toronto going to be a fully wireless enabled city like San Francisco? -
Internet Access On Airplanes. a good thing or a bad thing?
roggle replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Regarding the alienation issue, I know what you guys are talking about. I am actually generally quite a solitary creature and although when I go out I get along well I don't really seek out people in situations like planes and stuff. A lot of the times I enjoy my privacy and enjoy time by myself. It's not that I am antisocial, just that in this fast paced world surrounded with people you often to have to find privacy anyway you can even if it is in the toilet. However I do not think internet on the plane would increase this alienation. If you want to be left alone, you will be left alone, if you want to know people, you'll get to know them. Somehow I think inflight movies already have the same effect as to what internet access would do. -
Well, Warcraft has been out there for quite some time but I think it is the custom maps like Dota and Tower Defence that give it continuous replayability. Competitive warcraft 3 is also pretty exciting though i am totally useless at it so I just play for fun. However it requires a little too much micro control for my liking which is why I play rome total war now.

Nintendo Helped Make The Playstation?!? www.nintendoland.com
roggle replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Computer Gaming
Well I think Nintendo now is catching up especially their team of game developers are very creative and with the coming of the Wii system which a lot of people say overshadows the PS3 it might just take the lead again.Sony has the financial power but....dude Nintendo has WARIO OMG....Nice to see healthy competition between rivals quite unlike the PC industry. -
I personally prefer Anti-Vir...http://www.avira.com/en/free-antivirus-windows. Not as configurable but apparently has pretty good detection rates and is low on system resources.

Considering the price difference between linksys and other brands isn't all that much, I don't see why people should pay for crappy manualling though. It's fine and dandy if you already have it and are a network professional but if you are just the regular home user intending to buy a new one, why bother?
-
Computers are always like that...Especially with graphics card it hurts a lot...Few months and poof the price of your card drops by 50%.Don't fret too much, you still have till the end of July lol. There is always going to be something new around the corner and if you keep waiting you'll never get a computer. However Core Duo 2 has been announced for quite a while and Intel has taken special care to hype it up. I'll be interested to see how AMD replies.

Utopia is strangely addictive but only if u're in a super kingdom with a good group of friends. I've played it for years and years and years since I was in high school...and now I'm a lawyer..quite scary...HahaBtw there is also gunzonline some korean CS sort of mmorpg which is quite interesting and gunbound is also another free game.Besides that I play flashflashrevolution.com which is a hella addictive and great for finger coordination and it actually has improved my reading speed -
Besides PvPOnline, Penny Arcade I also read Pearls Before Swine http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ has sometimes really brilliant comics that make me laugh out loud! It isn't really computer based though but good fun nevertheless! I don't quite get Penny Arcade comics nowadays tho so it's more of a hit or miss thing. I really liked the Chinese one with the hap hap!

Just Bought An Alienware Desktop! Area-51® 7500
roggle replied to kgd2006's topic in Hardware Workshop
Mmmm not to burst your bubble but I wish it was a Core Duo instead....Pentium Ds are kinda crappy for games unless overclocked which isn't really a feasible option in a pc.Still it is very nice and makes me jealous! T_TI am still using my 4 year old notebook lol....still can play WoW!going to get a new pc as well but debating whether to assemble my own and overclock it or just go for a dell and save loads of money and hassle -
What model of linksys router is it? Apparently some linksys routers are plagued with troubles. My ex gf bought one and it gives her hell....she went and did a google search for her model number and found many people with similiar complaints.Of course it's nice to have everything of the same brand but generally it should not make a difference and should at least work decently...I think linksys just sucks...go for a better brand next time like d-link.
