  1. You have to write down more than five quality topics (not the present one for instance). Then, register at Xisto - Support and with the same email as the one you used to register at Xisto forum, and order the logic plan. Your posts will be reviewed and you will start earning myCENTS. Each time you reach 100 myCENTS myou will credited $1.00 in your balance. Your balance will pay your logic plan at Xisto. Also, please, next time, when you have a question, open your own topic, do not spoil somebody else's topic with a quite different subject. That explains why I moved your question here, off it's initial location. Regards Yordan
  2. OK, this is only for lazy users or for non-root users.Standard Linux users work in a command-line window, and if they type "ls -l" they will not see your dot-something folders or files. But if the same user types "ls -al", the "a" standind for "all" he will see all the files, including the files and folder whose name start with a "." From a philosophical point of view, this hides files to non-experienced users, you cannot hide files from experienced users. And you don't really need to hide folders from Linux newbies. When I create a stander folder named "/usr/lib/useles_things", very few people are able to simply see that this folder exist, is a non-standard folder and would go and see what is inside it. That's why I never need to hide my Unix private folders, nobody would have idea to go and look inside them.
  3. OK, sorry for the timeframe error. Nevertheless, I'm glad you agree that your next topic should be written at Xisto first, or should be quoted.
  4. Please read the forum rules. We want you to write down correctly balanced English sentences, without sms-like shortcuts. One-line posts are also considered as spam and will be deleted.Remember that your posts are reviewed, so if you want to be hosted here you should change your way of expressing yourself.
  5. I already had this problem in one of my HTML pages, I removed the line and it worked fine, even with Internet Explorer. I agree, your site should be visible by everyone, including the poor guys who bought a ready-for-use computer with IE6 installed. However, the instruction "[if lte IE 6]>" could happen to be not absolutely necessary, so simply try your thing with IE6 and if it works, let's simply be happy and forget about everything else.
  6. The IP address is banned only for posting at Xisto.I guess that he will be able to submit a ticket at Xisto - Support in order to un-ban his IP address ? Or even a mail to support should work ?
  7. The "view new post" is clickable on top of each window, near "my control". Simply it was nice to have it displeayed on ech page, instead of having to look for it.
  8. I completely agree, I prefer the present skin, it's far cooler.
  9. I didn't see the "labs" tab mentionned in the blog, so I could not enable tasks.Maybe the "click here" mentionned in the blog was not enough ?
  10. Thanks a lot, I did not thess the "member Info" trick :rolleyes:And, aargh, my sig is horrible with this blue border (and please don't tell me it's also horrible with other borders).
  11. Great job, thanks Opaque ! Everything was done smoothly, all the topics are still here, including my avatar and sig, and without stopping the forum ! Grand job, you did not have a lot of sleeping time !
  12. Unfortunately, I agree with Entheone, his topic is about the book, not about faith generally speaking, nor about knowing if you believe or not.So, let's talk about the book.Or let's shut up. I didn't read the book, so I shut up.
  13. Sorry folks. I close this topic because it's going widely off-tracks. Please read the forum rules again, see here : http://forums.xisto.com/topic/77393-welcome-to-xisto-open-discussion-free-web-hosting/ You can talk about free sofware, you may compare them to commercial software. You can use commercial software which have a trial version in order to train yourself in order to see the difference with the free software, anything else is not accepted here.
  14. Or, more probably, "because he will have to host his site at Xisto" ! :rolleyes:You are right, Quatrux, he has to learn how to write portable applications, because each developer has to think about portability, ease of installation, and backup-restore needs.
  15. If you want to be fully sure, remember that the http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ document also says that you should contact their "battery program" :
  16. Have a look here : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  17. If you have an index.php file in your Game folder, you cannot see any files, with IE you can only start the index.php program.Just for fun, rename your index.php to index.something, rename your index.html to index.somethingelse and you will be able to see the files with IE6.
  18. Maybe the infos you want is in order to know if these bills have been stolen, in a bank or from tourist's complains ? Yes, the police people can track bills in order to know if they were involved in a hijack, but I'm not sure that for yourself it's a freely accessible info.
  19. Hi, Thanks for the info. However, I noticed that your post is copied from http://www.exosyphenstudios.com/page_hackeion-untold.html You know, it's not really forbidden posting copied text here. Simply, you have to put it between quotes. You did a nice job, honestly mentioning where the text is coming from. And your layout is nicer than on the original site. However, this new layout is not enough for considering your post as a new info, so you have to quote the copied text. I did the quoting job for you today. Next time, I want you to do this job by yourself. Else, we could imagine that you are trying to cheat with Xisto Credit system. And this makes some mods around here rather angry.
  20. If you have to show something to a friend or to a colleague (a nice joke or needing help for a bug search) it's really difficult to show it on your laptop screen. I am currently helping a friend who works on a laptop, it's really difficult to read if you are not exactly in front of the laptop screen.Of course you can display the thing on a 17"" CRT near the laptop, but this loses the whole interest of the laptop portability.
  21. Where did you run accross this OS named gOS Cloud ?Is it an OpenSource thing ? Logically it should not be something free, because if it's really able to boot a ream Microsoft Windows session, you have at least to pay the Crosoft Windows Licence or have a working Microsoft installation already present on your disk.Did you already try goggling about it, words like "gOS Cloud" + download + free ?
  22. So, rahid, could you please modify your post and quote the copied parts ?Remember that if you don't do that, your topic will directly go the the "spam and junk" folder and you should loose a lot of credits.------------------------Edit :Obviously you did not find time enough for the quoting job, so I did it for you. Please, next time do not forget to do it by yourself. Else some mods around here could think that you are deliberately posting copied material.
  23. Oops ! Sorry ! The fourth one is important, I don't comment the third one.
  24. @flute : you already posted this topic, six monthes ago, here : http://www.mercurynews.com/ You cannot post copied text here, or at least you must quote the copied text. You are the author of this text, but it's a six-month old text, you cannot post it as anew text. I put the quote for you today. Next time please do the quoting job by yourself. Else we will think that you are trying to cheat with the credit system.
  25. It's not important for you, but for his girlfriend (so also for him) it's very important.
