I just use a firefox extension called EditCSS. It opens a sidebar with the code on the left and the webpage you are editing will change as you change the code. It is a handy little tool.
  2. What version of the mac OS was the IMAC using? I am not quite sure how to solve the problem, but I am wondering if it would be possible to use one of those ghosting applications like Norton Ghost to create an exact disk image. That way it may not actually have to understand the file formats. There are ways to run OSX on a PC but I don't know if you would want to go through the hassle.
  3. Agreed. TigerDirect has awsome prices. Sometimes they are with rebates, but as long as you send in the rebate you can get some really good deals. I got an internal 160GB drive for 23 dollars after rebate from them. I recently got out an old external drive that died on me long time ago and switched out the drive inside with a new hard drive and it's working quite nicely. I don't like backing up on DVDs because it takes so long to do so. It takes so many DVDs to backup all my data; furthermore, some of my video files and such are too large to fit on a 4.75GB DVD.
  4. Humans have, for the most part, removed themselves from evolution. I am not saying they don't change, but we have sort of removed ourselves from natural selection, which is one engine of evolution. Our classifications have changed and we are still adding new species to our list. They have just found some new species recently. Even so, most classifications aren't evolving at rapid rates. It would take a very long time for most groups to evovle noticeably. Also, the classification "species" still allows for some differences with in it. Small differences don't completely remove an organism from the classification. Things are still evolving, but it takes a long time for this to happen. species like bacteria are much more rapid in the process because they reproduce at much faster rates. I never said that they all evolve at the same rate. The changes mainly take place in a place with certain conditions. Like I said, the Incas, lived high up in the mountains for a very long time, so eventually there hearts and and lungs became larger because they were in that very specific environment. So those who were born with larger heats and lungs, were suited to live in those conditions and those who didn't, were less likelly to live.
  5. I know that for his purposes, this probably doesn't matter, but now that Macs are going intel, windows can be run on mac computers and the Mac OS can be run on windows computers.
  6. No these are examples happening over generations and generations, not to one specific oraganism but a group of organisms. When a organism adapts, that is specific to that individual oragnism in it's lifetime. Lifting weights doesn't change your genetic code. I am talking about actual changes in their genes. My examples may not show an enite species changing into another but in an isolated area that group changes over time, not enough to become another species, but they did change noticeably and if given more time they cold evolve further.
  7. I work with alot of multiplatform files in my work, especially PC and Mac.Right now I have about 3 main compression/decompression utilities to handlea variety if different formats and I was wondering if there was any application out there for windows that could handle ZIP, RAR and Suffit (.sit/.sitx) formats. One other feature that would be a huge plus would be if it supported MacBinary fork encoding. Does anyone have any suggestions? Right now my right-click context menu is full of options from stuffit eaxpander and winrar, plus I have other applications for certain situations and I would rather just have one all-inclusive program. Thanks
  8. Evolution cannot really be compared to creationism. Evolution does not provide an explanation of how everyhting started. It just proposes that species/sub species change over time. Evolution does not necessarily debunk creationist religions. One can believe in both evolution and creationism (christianity for example).Evolution is a fact. It has been proven and there are countless examples to back it up. I am not saying that we all came from monkeys, but it is a fact that animals can evolve over generations many generations. Cetain types of diseases evolve quite rapidly, many times due to their sloppy genetic encoding during replication, resulting in many mutations, which over time lead to new characteristics. The Incan people who lived up in extremely high altitudes developed larger hearts and lungs which helped them breath in high altitude/low oxygen. There are many many other examples. As for me, I guess I would be considered agnostic. I don't have enough information to come to any definite conclusion so I choose not to commit to a specific theory. As Arbitrary said these discusions tend to go no where in online forums and it tends to be a touchy subject. This forum is full of many different people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and places and that creates a wonderful opportunity to learn from each other. I would rather celebrate and our differences, rather than argue over them.
  9. I use Soulseek and I love it.For torrents I use µTorrent, which is also a great app.
  10. http://www.hackthissite.org/pages/index/index.phpthis site has many simulations of what you might be looking for, and they also have competitions that do invovle real hacking.
  11. Also some replacement shells for windows pull less RAM than the default explorer.exe; Although alot of people don't really like using alternstive shells.
  12. The only legal way of getting photoshop would probably be to buy it full price, and discussion of any illegal methods are not tolerated on this forum.
  13. As said before the one appears to be an actual typeface, since the duplicate characters are identical in their texture. But if you would like to make brushes tat could do things like that I wrote up a mini tutorial about that long time ago: http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?showtopi&hl=brushes
  14. I use the DownThemAll extension for firefox, since it is small, functional and integrated into the firefox browser.I really don't need anything extra and it does have some very nice and time saving features. I love firefox extension because they don't clutter up my hardrive. Also it seems to be much more RAM-efficient then running an entirely different fiull-featured application.
  15. I would rather not release a bunch of my photos as stock, but if there are some that you would like to use specifically just let me know what you would like to use for and I shouldn't have a problem with it, just as long as it's for non-commercial uses. I thank you for being respectful and asking before using them.
  16. I actually really like the first one. I don't see tree like that much out here. I am interested. Makes me want to go fro a walk out there.
  17. Thanks! Yeah the sepia worked out nicely. The color seemed to take away from the composition and forms in the images, so I decided that the sepia would be appropriate, especially since the location is a historical area and sepia tends to be associated with nostalgia.
  18. I recently helped a friend of mine move to Cambria, CA, so after I helped her move there, I rode back to Los Angeles on a train. My train was very late so I decided to take some pictures outside of the old station in San Luis Obispo, CA. I made the photos a sepia tone to give an old feeling to them.
  19. There are applications that will allow you to create an invisible watermark. It won't be able to be seen unless you run it back through the application to see the watermark. I am not sure though if that rerally helps people from actually stealing them, but it could prove that you made it.
  20. Make sure that your "properties" pallette is open and if not go to the Window menu at the top to open it. Click in the cell in your table and then look at the properties pallete. There should be two drop-down menus there on the bottom left--"horiz" and "vert". Click the "vert" menu and select "top". That's all!
  21. I collect: minerals typefaces hats match books/boxes Interesting: paper clippings/illustrations/advertisements/drawings/photos/ and other things that I find interesting. I keep them in a box and go look through them when I need some inspiration, a laugh, etc. art supplies electronic/mechanical parts (I make new things with parts that I strip from old broken objects)
  22. Thanks for the input.Yeah I don't really want to buy new hardware. Hard drives are fairly cheap these days. I just bought a new one after an older one failed. I suppose I will stick to 4.75GB DVDs and my external drive for right now.
  23. Backing up my files has become a horrible chore with all of my drives and huge files. I work with video/animation projects and stuff that take up huge amounts of space. It takes so long burning everything to 4.75 GB DVDs. I know that when movie DVDs are often on high capacity DVDs that hold much more information than a measly 4.75. So, my question is: Are high capacity DVDs available for people to purcahase anywhere? I tried looking on google and did find something about some DVD media over 20GB coming soon, but is there anything that might help for the time being?
  24. I have visual, audio and tactile hallucinations fairly often, but that is normally all I think of them--hallucinations.Although they are unuasual and sometimes seem just as real as anything else, I normally dismiss them as fiction. Some friends seem to think that I have seen ghosts etc., but I have a hard time believing that.
  25. I use a free program called Autoscreenrecorder http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It has a few cool features. It allows you to record from just one window instead of the entire screen.
