  1. Whenever you load your version of 3ds max, the usual loading interface will appear which is quite boring to view it at times. So is there a way to customise your own splash screen? The answer is yes!!! Of course you can!!! Every max users are blessed with the privilage to change the default loading user interface to their own desired loading interface. Q. So how exactly do I change the default loading interface of my version of max? A. Its very easy. All you need is a good and healthy version of Macromedia flash editor. If you did notice, the max root folder consist of a file called splash.fla and splash.swf. Open the splash.fla and replace the background picture to your desired picture. Export the flash movie and name it as splash.swf. NOTE: Remember to back-up the files before attempt to create your very own splash loading interface. Good luck.
  2. I personally think its better that you manipulate these settings manually rather than using a software to do it because installing a software means running 1 more process in your computer. Furthermore what if you forget to revert back all the default settings when you uninstall the program?
  3. There are many ways for us to improve our computer performance when we're using memory intensive programs like 3ds max, adobe photoshop(when dealing with large poster-size pictures) etc. Below are some suggested steps to improve your computer's performance. 1)Reduce the number of processes running during startup. This can be achieved by using the MSCONFIG provided by windows. To access this hidden program, go to start > run and type "MSCONFIG". This will brings you to the MSCONFIG program. For novice users, go directly to the startup tag and you can choose to disable "useless" programs by unchecking them. After you have configured the neccessary stuffs, click on the "apply" button to apply the changes made. 2)Reducing visual effects. You can achieve an immediate boost in speed by changing another setting in System Properties. Select the Advanced tab, click Settings under Performance then choose the Visual Effects tab. The display and interface in Windows XP will use up its fair share of memory and CPU resources. By checking the option "Adjust for best performance", the appearance of your system will revert to a more basic interface. This will "visually" improves you system performance. Try it yourself to spot the changes!! 3)Cleaning up traces of unwanted/ ophan registry left by uninstalled programs. You can achieve that by running RegEdit in Windows. Go to start> run and type "RegEdit" to run the program. Remember to back up a copy of it before attempting to remove unwanted program registries. Deleting the wrong registry could cause serious damage to your operating system, hence delete them on your own risk!! Not recommended for novice users. For novice users, I do recommend registry mechanic, a shareware program which will automatically scan through your computers' registries and helped you to remove them. the list goes on....
  4. You're right. My friends any I will usually play online together when we're free.
  5. SmartFTP is still my fav choice. It has many easy features such as drag and drop and changing chmod on the fly.
  6. Nice game. Good gameplay, nice soundtrack and everything you can find in a racing game. The only part that I don't like is the limitations of cars. Too little choices to choose from.
  7. Have anyone played this game before? I love this game because of its slam dunk competition.
  8. Nice game. The gameplay is almost the same as the previous version. The only great changes is the game interface.
  9. Flashget is still my best choice.
  10. I agreed with r3d. I myself prefer to use fdisk as it uses a dos environment to set-up the partition ofr you.For people who prefer to have a more interactive user-interface to react to, try partition magic.
  11. My cpu's temp is always below 40 degree celcius, all thanks to my home-made coolers using cheap copper pipings as the heat dispenser.
  12. I prefer p4 processor as it supports hyper-threading...AMD is a better choice if you love to over-clock your processor.
  13. I run apache and php at home for debugging purposes before I ever post my files to the server site. Hence I think its necessary for people who does server-side programming.
  14. Java3d is a good platform for beginners to start programming games. I myself started to learn Java 3d from spinning simple cubes to create user-interactive buttons. The basic requirement of using java3d is you must have a good foundation of Java language before attempting to do so.
  15. Both have their pros and cons anyway.Java gives the user more control in terms of interactivity. But that comes with a price of more time spent as compared to flash. Flash on the other hand is easy to script but lacks of certain features which can make the application more dynamic. Both Java and flash involved with object-oriented programming.
