Microsoft In The P2p Network
musichere replied to Tommy1405241497's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It has it's benefits, the more they can understand something like this and use it for their own purposes, the more they can fight against it and I don't think this will do anything to stop illegal downloading from bittorrent websites and piracy in general, but at least they're trying..... -
Openoffice Vs. Microsoft Office Which is better?
musichere replied to rhodesian.dragon's topic in Software
No, Openoffice can backwardly open any Microsoft formats across all the programs although there are still some problems with the formatting. The newest version, 2.0 beta has corrected many of the original problems and is much more like Microsoft Word. -
Openoffice Vs. Microsoft Office Which is better?
musichere replied to rhodesian.dragon's topic in Software
I use Openoffice and although people can deny it to the end of the day, Microsoft Office is the superior system. As a home user I see no point in forking out hundreds of pounds however for something that I can download off the internet for free, so I personally use Openoffice, but if both were free and open source there would be no question as to which one I use...Microsoft Office. -
SMF is by far the best forum software for every purpose and best of all it's completely free and semi-open source. If you want a very very bare-bones forum software there are many that don't even use a database, just text files which are incredibly easy to mod and manage which I would recommend, but you'll find them lacking basic features that you need.

Yeah thanks for your reply, I didn't lose any of my emails

Has Anyone Heard About Linspire?
musichere replied to nidahasa's topic in Websites and Web Designing
They have done a really great job bundling themselves with some of the famous hardware vendors. In Britain they have a deal with Tiny.com which is one of the most famous (or as some would say infamous) computer makes, and this has gotten them a lot of attention. -
I've recieved some important emails today on my domain account which I haven't been able to access since I'm waiting to be unsuspended (for lack of credits). I was just wondering if while my account was being suspended, the emails were lost and if so how would I go about getting them back?

Dual Or Multi Booting Os
musichere replied to lacking_imagination's topic in Websites and Web Designing
The Linux distribution that you're using should come with a partition manager. All the ones I've tried have, and even if it doesn't there are a number of new partition managers for Windows and DOS that are designed specifically to install whatever operating system you want. -
Isn't it about the same price if you have a laptop to buy a desktop with twice the system specifications? I read that somewhere, and it seems right becuase for about £500 all you can get is a 1.4 GHZ celeron machine which is very poor compared to some of the baragins you can pick up at PC World for cheap desktops, often including TFt monitors and printers or scanners as well. Laptops are more useful and versatile and probably more fun to use as you can move around and do more things, like recordings, with them. I am in the process of choosing a laptop but I'm worried about the difficulty in upgrading them and also the fact that you can't buy one with Linux preinstalled or bare-bones which I want as I don't see the point in paying for an expensive copy of Windows Xp that I'm never going to be able to use since I hate it.

Are you on Tiscali? I don't think he wants anonymity, just the ability to access his own website and also Xisto without having to use an anomymous proxy. For some reason people from Tiscali are being blocked by Xisto from viewing this website, which is more than frustrating and means you have to use a very slow proxy just to get to your own site.

Any Ideas Why Google Adsense Ad's Aren't Showing ?
musichere replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Online Advertising
Yeah the thing about the Adblock extension is if you block the google adverts banner from one individual website it will probably block all the google adverts from all different website. My friend who uses adblock said he never noticed there were adverts on my website until he looked on it at school. -
OK I have another problem, I need to get rid of all the stupid avatar icons that the arcade leaves becuase one person has pretty much all the icons and when he posts a message it means you have to scroll down about three quarters of the page just to view the next message and it's very annoying.....

I don't have a clue what this all means but all I care about is:Does this mean that we will be able to use Mac OS with all x86 machines?
-
First of all SMF is much better (opinion, not fact) :DSecond of all all you have to do is create a new database through cPanel and the program (whatever you choose to use) will write all the tables for you if you give it the details and the name.

Worlds Oldest Search Engine.... And possible the worst one.
musichere replied to Umbra's topic in Search Engines
The oldest search engine I remember using was one called infoseek or something, I don't think it exists any more and even if it does, Google has completely replaced it. -
I don't know how your one works but if you use a proxy (e.g. online or offline like anonymouse.ws) the school will just see what you've visited too as 'anonymouse.ws' rather than the pages you are viewing inside the proxy.I'm not too sure about that but I don't see why it wouldn't work becuase the system is you go to anonymouse.ws, they get the page for you and load it inside their own website so it doesn't show you as viewing external websites.

Well it would be a rubbish mod if people expect to get errors installing it. My installation was just fine, I did it through the admin panel and it just worked, I am crap with computers so thank God for that...

Google was crawling my website really well until three days ago when for some reason it just took it completely off the indexing and with no explination. Me, I'm awful at SEO but I'm trying...I use Trafficseeker 7.0 Lite (which is a free SEO tool) and that helps a lot.

Research: Really How Popular Are Blogs?
musichere replied to rhodesian.dragon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I want to start a blog but Xisto has banned my IP and I can't get to the FTP through a proxy... -
I have another one:http://www.kickme.to/index.php but it's very very slow and I think it places an advert (I can't remember because it's been ages since I last used it)

This website is designed nearly exlusively for piracy as you probably have guessed, it is extremely popular among downloaders for transferring mp3s and videos instantly and quickly and is very successful. I love the system where you can upload a file and if someone else has alredy uploaded that file then it will do it instantly. The fact that you can only download 100 megabytes per MONTH is a bit of a pain though but the marketing is ingenius...

New Palm This one is cool
musichere replied to Brian1405241474's topic in Websites and Web Designing

The Beauty Of Googling Your Name Google
musichere replied to soccerchris2006's topic in Introductions
There are only 62 results for my full name, which is strange and if you type out my whole name in quotes there are only three results none of which are myself... -
The thing I find weird about the design of the game is the fact that you have to tilt your head 45 degrees to play it becuase of the way it's laid out. Did the designers seriously think that would improve the game?
