There is nothing to be overwhelmed with on this site! Most of those here are using the site for at least two things. One : Free web Hosting Two: Helping newbies (I call them new Bees) with their problems! If you have a question about software, hardware, web building, or anything technical then this is a great place for you. You will get answers and those that are hosted here will eventually get to your questions to maintain their accounts. Even though posting is a requirement to maintain a site hosted by Xisto, my sites that I have don't need constant monitoring and I and perhaps you too will learn and help others learn what they need to set up a free site and properly maintain it and solve any little problems. Most on here are webmasters, and with that being said have the same kind of problems with databases and so on so just look around and find a forums you are interested in or might have a question about and post something in it.

Definately get XAMPP even though the newest version does not fire your browser like the older versions so I added that feature from an old version. I bought a book that had instructions on installing PHP and MySQL and managed after a couple of weeks to finally make it work and then Apache 2 came out and I had to reconfigure it but whilst looking through some sites I found XAMPP and have been using it for over a year and I would not even think of configuring Apache with PHP and MySQL, FileZilla, PERL, Tomcat, and all the extra stuff it come with...it is a 23 to 26 meg download but the install is a breeze. If you have a good editor with search and replace then just do a replace all "DROP TABLE IF EXISTS" instances or even better if you editor allows you to veiw each instance of the found text then you can just take your cursor and remove each one instance and the following text after itOr when you go to phpMyAdmin make sure when exporting your database as an SQL file that the Add DROP TABLE box is not checked it will create a file without you having to edit anything, if you need a screenshot leave me a PM and I will do that.

Recently my main computer has been acting up and I even had a hard drive to fail, so I was reduced to use an old 4 gig hard drive and with that said couldn't use XP so I loaded ME on it, but then the machine would just quit, die for no apparent reason even though I have a program that constantly monitors voltage levels temperatures and so forth I never got a warning. So yesterday I was supposed to go fix a guys computer that he couldn't format the new hard drive he had but he would not be home til 2 PM so I stopped at a little thrift store in hopes of finding a kinda newer machine for a hard drive...what I found was a ComPaq machine with the intel inside (PentiumIII) and a software sticker for Windows 2000 Professional and a sticker that said $9.98 and said it needs work. So I plug the box in then get a monitor and keyboard and mouse and fired it up and it booted Windows XP Professional then I clicked on one of the uer names and it kinda hung up but I knew it should at least have a 15 - 20 gig hard drive plus the PentiumIII. I bought it and took it home and am using it right now.There were two users and the machine kept failing Windows explorer so I did a restore, and eliminated a bunch of useless programs which may have been causing the hang up in the first place and now I have a new main computer for $10.90 a fiddling around with it for a little while.Every now and then something good has to happen and that was in fact one of the best birthdays I have ever had hope the same for all those on this site too!!

I am not sure what version IPB is on this host but you should till have in the ACP (Admin Control Panel) the below selection to backup your database whenever you want. or something along those lines. I would suggest that you not only save this file to hard drive but also to a removable media (floppy, cd or dvd) and use one that is rewritable and update it every so often. Your IPB is highly database intensive, all categories, forums, posts, comments and all the rest reside in your database which is constantly updated by your software, unless you have a very active site you should just update your backup one a week, but if you really get foing then you need to update daily or even hourly in the case of hundreds of thousands of hits and posts.

Your question leaves a lot to be desired. SQL is structured query language MySQL is a database server that accepts the most common SQL syntax so there is nothing to do just create a data base using the SQL of and so on you don't migrate SQL to MySQL you use SQL or PHP to control the behavior of MySQL ormssql or PostgreSQL. Please be more specific with your question and you might get a better response.

When I post on these forums lately my images just have a place holder that says user posted image here is an example. this should be a small Argentinian Flag and here is the physical link to the gif. Argentina Flag gif Here is what you will see...what must I set in my control panel to allow hotlinking? OK I went to the Cpanel and disabled hotlinking but, before I had allowed exceptions of jpeg,jpg,gif and some other image formats but now I have disabled everything right? This is not really what I want. What should I check in the C Panel to allow images in posts in these forums?

I also noticed a lack of the opening and closing HTML they are simply not there...I guess the reason for XHTML the page would not and will not display using XHTML standards which will become common soon.I believe that if this is corrected and the meta which is in fact there were tweaked al little bit he would in fact be listed, but as far as the bot is concerned it is a non existant page because it doesn't follow XHTML rules. Get HTML Kit or some other eidtor and run HTML Tidy on that site and it will correct the page or pages to at least where a bot can see it.By the way I trained pilots and aircrews with flight similators for the A7E and S3A aircraft back in the 1970's and was considering a job as an instructor for the Space Shuttle even before the first flight...did not do that just went home and became a data tech and electrician.Loved my similators though, we kinda played a lot of games and pushed the envelope of the crafts and condidtions, it was really great fun as a job!

Recently Gitmo has recieved criticism about the treatment of enemy combatants housed in the multimilliondollar facility there!Well the newest news is that we decided to transport 100 of those enemy combatants to Afghanistan, isn't it strange that all of a sudden the complaints from these enemy combatants ceased....Could it be that they will actually face abuse from their own countrymen in the area where they were captured in a war trying to kill American Soldiers and Marines and sailors (WEARING A UNIFORM) might not get the fancy meals that we don't even get daily imported from Florida by Navy Chefs?The cells might be even smaller or they might just give them a quick trial and then shoot or hang the enemy combatants then let the corpse stay for days or burn them publically while singing the National Anthem of Afghanistan...then putting it all on televeision about the fine treatment these guys should recieve when going to HELL with 72 virgins (1/2 gross chicken eggs, try having sex with a 2 day old chick...FOREVER!!!)HA HA HA

MySQL is simple and works very well in conjunction with PHP, or maybe the other way around, but MySQL refers to an sql export as a data dump not a data pump hopefully that was a typo or they refer to normal sql matter with different lingomaking it even more confusing. Learn how to use phpMyAdmin and MySQL has a new program they have developed but I have been using phpMyAdmin for so long that I am not sure that it would compare but I am gonna download and give it a try.

I made two posts into two really LAME forums in the Bulletin Board Category. I noticed that no-one had ever even bothered to post in either of the two, so I offered my own opinions. I will admit that I was not kind about these particular forums which no one had even bothered to post in until I did.I got two PM's stating that what I had done was considered spam...is dislike criticism of a forum SPAM? Is that worthy of a warning? If I see something that doesn't even generate a post then by me criticizing it to see if there is even any interest in that particular software or forum should at least generate a defense of said LAME forum, but NO I Got warned and still see that...I was merely excercising free speech which is what I thought happened as long as it isn't illegal immoral, or advocates the overthrow of my own government.At least those two forums have been removed so at least my posts did do something cause no body even cared. Every Now and then a forum itself need pruning and not just posts...all they do is occupy disk space and monitor real estate!

It seems to be either more of a problem with the software or editor and possibly some settings because notepad Wordperfect, Word or just about any word processor will have a default the allows inserts without having to do anything.When you want to edit something try highlighting the area you wish to correct and just type in the new text. To highlight either left click and hold down the left mouse button or hold the shift key while using the appropriate updown or left right keys then after typing in your correct text if you notice text adjacent to it disappearing then just press the ins or insert key (after you go to edit and undo your last action). and you should be alright. then You might need to look at your preferences or options of the editor and look at insert or delete or ins del and see what is happening.

It is an SQL dump not a php if you want to export a database structure and data go to your C Panel and then go to phpMyAdmin then select the database you want to export then just tell it using the default settings to save as file.You will then see a popup window asking where you want to save this file and it will be saved according to your wishes. The file if you read it lets say your database were called phpbb then you would see using an editor several mentions of dumping this that or the other table contained in the phpbb database.I could provide screenshots if necessary but won't unless asked.

Well from the looks of your screenshot it will work except you just need to check Save as file" then you should get a popup window and you would save this file wherever you want. After you have the new sql 'dump' you would go to C Panel in Xisto and create a new database and enter that data base and just click the sql link and tell it to browse your local hard drive for the file you have just downloaded and it will then 'dump' that data into the database you are currently in and you should be ready to go.If you get errors something is wrong but this is not very common since phpMyAdmin made the file in the first place, it is merely reading back a file it made in the first place.

I too am a PHP Designer user I use it now for developing php and getting an quick debug...I had been using HTML Kit but it doesn't have a debugger and the only way to view your page is to put it on your server and then go there just like a normal site, but with PHP Designer it make a temporary file and opens your browser window for you and you can know almost instantly if the script is working like you want it to...it has saved me lots of time I wouldn't be without this program if I were wanting to write PHP apps.

FileZilla is great and I have been using it for over a year now but there is another that is almost as good called BFTP (Batch File Transfer Protocol) it takes a little getting used to and the only thing you might dislike is that it can make sounds on file transfer and a special sound when entire Batch is finished, Coffee Cup Free FTP is also good I did use WSFTP but did not see any sense in paying for it after trying some of the freebies out there.Sile zilla is definately one of those that I would not be without and am quite pleased with it.

You can either put the phpBB2 right from the CPanel and then add the mods you want or you could create a database then populate it with phpMyAdmin using an sql dump from your existing already modded site (local site) then upload your pre-edited site to you Xisto account using an FTP client

I have another silly question and it is ...what is Myspace code? I have seen it here in some of the forums but I don't even know what it is, much less how to help some one with questions about it. Is it a premade site, a CMS, or just what?

Using view source works and you can always just highlight the stuff by either left clicking while holding the left button down or holding shift while using the left right up or down cursor keys and then go to edit and press copy which puts the content on your clipbaord and pasting it into an empty document (notepad or and other editor) and you have it minus any formatting, you have to do that yourself.

Try mercury mail and also the Pegasus mail client, it is free (both of them) and just do a search for Mercury mail and it will work on a LAN I used it on my own little LAN for testing purposes.

It sounds like it is a database problems and not a session problem, have you optimised your database, or looked at it and be sure that the authors table is correct?
