  1. Your problem is not an isolated one.I remember facing the same issue while I was preparing for my Master's degree.I couldn't control falling asleep and had to struggle to stay awake. It became so serious that I had to consult a doctor to get rid of the problem. The doctor after investigation found out that I had issues with my liver and began with some medication to rectify it.i would suggest that you should be certain about your problem that is actually causing you to yawn and feel sleepy abnormally. You can review your daily routine and if required consult a physician who can guide you even better.
  2. I too have had cases when I started to read in my dreams, those incidents would occur before my exams and my brain was all overloaded with stuff that I needed to study and I carried it all in my sleep also. The language that I would dream in was mostly English and I actually never felt that I was dreaming, because the reading used to be absolutely smooth.Nowadays, I hardly get to sleep dreams at all, because I am so tired after coming back from work that I fall into a sound sleep absolutely effortlessly.
  3. Apple has taken a serious move in order to restrict its rival Samsung in attaining roaring sales for its products Samsung's Galaxy Tab and Nexus smartphone. According to the latest court filings, Apple has sent retailers, letters for not selling the mentioned Samsung products. The letters are described to have The notice, according to Mueller of Foss Patents, was sent out by Apple on June 28 for Galaxy Tab 10.1 and for Galaxy Nexus on June 3. It all started between the tech giants as Apple decided to sue Samsung last April, stating the latter had gone ahead to copy features related to software and design.Samsung retaliated by suing back. Since then, both of the companies have been trying to pull each other's sales down by dragging in patent issues. I personally feel that both the organizations should focus more on development of technology in their devices to make them better rather than trying hard to beat stiff competition.Everything should be tried and tested beforehand to ensure both its high handedness and user friendliness so that they taste success in the markets. What do you guys feel about this? Get posting with your opinions Source
  4. Considered to be a giant news aggregator some time back,Digg has been going through a tough phase and eventually has been sold to Betaworks for a reportedly not so fascinating sum of money. Though the exact amount has not been made public, yet the Wall Street Journal estimated the amount to be a mere $500,000. A few years ago the worth of the organisation would have been around $200 million as estimated by Businessweek Magazine. Digg was founded in the year 2004 and rose to the zenith of popularity as people, by voting could literally dig out articles that were lying obscure on the internet. Through the course of years, the quality of Digg that once could be boasted upon, started to degrade as the voting and commenting systems started to lack credibility. Digg ventured to create a blunder, the site v4,but it wasn't technically sound enough to convince people and the response was full of hatred as much as the declaration of "Abandon Digg Day" and embracing the rival service, Reddit. Even after CEO Matt William's blog, the scenario showed no improvement. Betaworks, the organization now acquiring Digg, is the owner of the well known link shortener Bit.ly and analytics platform Chartbeat. The new plan for Digg, according ot Betaworks would be like starting it from the scratch with its own employees mostly from its wing News.me . Digg's co-founder Kevin Rose's venture Milk was acquired by Google for a sum of $15 million in the month of March. Source
  5. Hello friends, earlier this week a video went viral on the internet, most of the netizens would be aware that it was about the molestation of a seventeen year old girl by a mob on the streets of Guwahati, a rapidly developing city in Assam, India!!!! This means that while the brutality was taking place, it was caught in the camera, yet the molesters didn't bother to give a damn. The cops played their roles with usual indifference and yet another teenager is left to deal with horrible memories. The incident took place on the night of last Monday, when reportedly a group of friends, two boys and four girls went into a bar to celebrate one of the girl's birthday, they somehow entered into a brawl and were asked to leave, as they were out on the streets, they began to be followed by a stranger and that soon became a crowd of localites who took advantage of the situation, dragged the girl and tore her clothes.Later when the victim was asked to recall about the incident, she broke down saying that there were a number of passers-by and media persons, who were busy shooting the incident, but no one came forward to rescue her. Then one of the senior journalists of Assam, who was passing by, stopped and rescued the girl with the help of the police. What was even more shocking were the remarks passed by a responsible official of the police, that the police wasn't like an ATM machine and couldn't start working only by inserting a card. The media guys cleared their space by saying that two persons were too weak to take on a mob of 16 people, yet they recorded on their cameras to upload it on Youtube, in view of public interest which they felt was more important than saving the girl from the gruesome incident. The whole nation has been moved by the act and various organizations, commissions for human rights and the Home Ministry itself has condemned the episode and the remarks of the police and its escaping from shouldering the responsibility. As another mark of failure, the police have managed to get hold not even 5 of the culprits.Probably many would hold the teenager responsible for this being caused to her, but this could happen to anyone, at any time of the day.I being born and brought up in Guwahati feel its a shame for the people who love the place but cannot be sure about how secure the female members of their family are there. I am sure this is not the only case of its kind, but such incidents in any part of the world should receive the same amount of fire and women should learn to defend themselves or guarded well so that they can be proud of being a woman.
  6. The computer was brought into existence mainly to ease out the task of human beings, however many have failed to realize that the tool of convenience has started to become convenience itself. The incident in question is not an isolated one, it can be noticed in several households, what actually may be the issue is that the time that parents and children were supposed to spend together is being diverted to the desktop or the laptop. The child is not the only one who is busy with the computer, even many of the parents also prefer dedicating their time working on the computer. I would never say that spending time on the computer can be done away with altogether, but getting addicted is no way going to be helpful. Everyone in the family has to bear in mind that maintaining the love and attachment within the family has to be in the priority list, that would at least would ensure that the computer, which in essence is just a machine and can't be at fault on its own, is not shot into pieces.
  7. There might have been incidents when posting on Facebook has landed people into trouble both with professional and personal lives. This time it was as horrifying as getting a father locked up in prison for his son's contribution to a page on Facebook. Yasher Khameneh,a 25 year old youth who hailed from Iran originally and was studying in a college in Holland joined a page on Facebook. This page explains itself as one as an effort to relieve religion from superstitious beliefs.the page page basically could be seen as a mockery of a Shiite Muslim Imam,Ali al -Naqi al- Hadi. The Imams ho;d prestigious positions back in Iran and offensive comments passed on them are taken very seriously by the country's law,as the Imams are believed to be the successors of Prophet Mohammed. The page on Facebook read "Campaign to Remind Shias about Imam Naqi" and it The contributors to the page felt that no human being was great enough to be spared from being made fun of . Yasher Khameneh didn't use his real name while being on the page nor did the manager of the page, yet Khameneh,at times gave referral links to his personal Facebook page, because it wasn't that serious when it started. He although had the thought back in his mind that as the page gained popularity, the conservative lot back in Iran wouldn't find that pleasing. However,he continued to post as he believed that whatever he was doing was against religious taboos. To Khameneh's dismay,by May, an Iranian rapper dared to rap forwarding mockery of the same Imam.Collaterally, the page on Facebook started to experience immense traffic. The real shock came to Khameneh on May 23rd when his father,Abbas Khameneh called him up and told him that Iran's Intelligence officials had dropped in their house and wanted Yasher's passwords for all his accounts on the internet. As Yasher could smell the trouble, immediately started his efforts to chase the trouble away.He sent a message on Facebook for taking the page down, but all he received was the refusal of the manager---probably the manager took his message to be of a person working Iran's intelligence or simply to uphold the cause of freedom of speech. Yasher's next step was the deletion of all his accounts , yet the page which gave rise to the havoc was still up.On the days following that he received calls from his mother and sister telling him that his father was arrested and taken to the infamous Evin prison in Tehran. Yasher's desperationled him to publish an open letter online, which he explained all about his helplessness. The letter was spotted by an NGO named International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran and then approached Yasher Khameneh for an interview. Yasher Khameneh has been trying to fight for his father but he could hardly taste success with any information related to his father's arrest. The only options he is left with are worrying for the worst and hoping for the best. This is not the only incident in Iran that has infuriated the administrators, journalists and others believing in free speech have always been scanned by the authorities and there will be no signs of mercy from the government's end to individuals and groups that can prove to be a threat to the country's social structure. Come forward and share your views, experiences etc. on such issues. Who do you think is actually responsible for creating the trouble. Replies awaited
  8. One thing that I totally agree with is that in my country India, democracy has turned out to be the instrument of increasing revenue and misusing powers by the politicians. But I still maintain that the citizens should themselves be ready to make the country a better place. Imagine a person who has tortured his wife or sister/daughter-in-law for dowry, what sense of judgement would s/he have while electing a leader for the country. The leaders are all incapable, agreed so who is going to bring in the change? I can't say about other countries but in India, a person who is the citizen of India and fulfills certain other conditions can contest in the elections, but what percentage of the youth actually aspires to do so? They are not interested in venturing into this field and bring about a change in the political scenario of the country. Mere complaining about others in power will never provide a solution to the problems of the masses. Moreover, for the success of democracy, the cleansing has to be done from the remotest part of the structure, crimes of the pettiest kind to the ones creating havoc should be checked, the government should gear up the law and order machinery and at the same time the citizens should try refraining from committing them. There should be no tax evasion and people should learn to stay in peace with one another. The form of democracy is undoubtedly going to click that way.
  9. Like human beings on earth have curiosity regarding life in other parts of the universe and have taken efforts to launch spaceships to carry out their study on such issues, there might be possibilities that whom we call aliens have the same kind of urge to satisfy and may be whatever they can view from a huge distance is not that satisfactory and they are looking out for more. The basic question---- are aliens really somewhere??? would always be a debatable issue, though no acceptable evidence that some alien space ship has visited the earth or someone on the earth has encountered a genuine alien.
  10. What I would say about the topic is that science has always been around us, but we have discovered its various aspects covering a large span of time. However, it is us who are responsible for the advantageous or disastrous outcomes of science, like we have had instances of nuclear explosions and millions have died as a consequence, but science has not acted as a master here, rather human beings have made it happen that way, the point I wish to make is that we have been trying to mould science according to our convenience, we try to estimate the outcome ,yet at times it exceeds the calculated magnitude and then we feel that it has overpowered us.I don't think science can ever be our master nor should be called a slave, because our existence is somehow intermingled with science, we need it to explain our existence, don't we? Science should be treated wisely as a ground where we can place all our doubts and base our research on.
  11. Yes, a lot of people in India do speak English, however the number of people who don't speak or understand the language exceed the former one. Some of the states in India have high literacy rate, yet there are prejudices that never seem to leave the social structure. The country is famous for it is an embodiment of diverse cultures, but somehow, that becomes a matter of concern when the slightest of spark can ignite a communal riot. The economy is growing rapidly, but how far is its benefits spread to the masses. I am an Indian and quite attached to my motherland, probably that is the reason that the issues we face here bother me much. I really hope the beautiful country achieves beauty in essence.
  12. As a matter of great achievement, scientists have unveiled the mystery surrounding the much wondered about Higgs boson or widely known as "God Particle"---the explanation for the fact that all matter has mass. The search supposedly began in the 1960's and has continued to haunt physicists who dedicated their time for research about the beginning of the universe and the settings of all its elements. There was a roar of happiness accompanied with a burst of emotions at the European Center for Nuclear Research or CERN. Reportedly, the new particle seems to possess a number of similarities with what physicists from Scotland,Peter Higgs. This finding was restricted to a theory which could analyze the reason behind matter having mass. As a result of the collisions, the particles are produced, but do not exist more than fractions of a second. After continuous efforts, only some dozens of collisions produced results with data that could be valuable. However,an Italian physicist Fabiola Gianotti said that a long procedure was about to follow for the ultimate explanation of the phenomena as a whole. Nobel Prize winner, physicist Leon Lederman tossed the term "God Particle" for the boson which later came to be used in common discussions. Scientists are estimating that this finding would lead to revolutionary progress in scientific analysis for the decoding of the universe's start and existence through a single particle. Source This piece of news has created a havoc in the field of physics, and everyone seems to be awestruck. I was just wondering about how the other members on the forum think of this. Go ahead and share your opinions.
  13. I normally use the internet for information related to my work,my job involves a lot of writing and so a lot of research has to be done on the content that I need to develop.I somehow enjoy surfing the internet, and sometimes I discover a piece of information that really engages me, difficult to imagine my life without the internet.
  14. That is absolutely correct! It is pretty engaging to have a kid in the house,I do remember instances when my sister-in-laws left their kids behind with me and I had to take care of all their necessities and tantrums as well. One of my nephews is a real trouble maker, and he would drive the hell out of me, yet there was some sort of a pleasure that I derived while handling him,As soon his parents would come to pick him up, there would be a vacuum that I would experience.I do not have any kids yet but can very well understand how filling an experience would be to have a kid around.
  15. Can't really say whether the designer's really take what we would love into account, it seems they rather focus on the techno/phone war that they constantly have to sustain, and certainly those square shaped tiles are boring indeed.
  16. Adding another laurel to its journey of success,Microsoft lifted the veil to display the next generation smartphone operating system,Windows Phone 8.There are a few remarkable updations in the hardware structure like multicore processors support,NFC,memeory slots which are expandable and enhanced screen resolutions(1,280*720--pixel HD) The start screen has been redesigned to enable the modification of the size of every live tile to one of the size options provided, another added feature is the introduction of support for new color themes. As a purchase app,a"wallet" is included for storage considered sensitive. Moreover, one doesn't have to resort to the desktop to receive OS updates, it is well caught "over the air". 17. An allegation was thrust on LinkedIn Corporation by a female resident of Illinois,U.S.A.,Katie Szpyrka. The allegation was about the loopholes of the security system of the professional networking website,as a result of which passwords of a number exceeding 6 million customers stand stolen.Reportedly, the stolen passwords were found on websites which are considered hangouts for computer hackers. An estimate of the total number of members on LinkedIn is close to 160 million, and the issue of massive breach of data lead to the class action law suit put up at a federal court in San Jose,California. Katie, the initiator of the lawsuit,is a member of the website and through her law firm from Chicago, placed papers in the court stating that LinkedIn's policy for security were not in accordance with the set industry standards for securing database. A spokesperson from LinkedIn on the other hand said that it was all fabricated by lawyers who have been trying to reap benefits of this situation and that no member accounts have been affected by data breach. However, according to the experts in the legal domain, the class appealing for action against data breach, will actually have to prove damage as a consequence of the breach. There have been precedents, where success was achieved against a social gaming company RockYou on grounds of internet data breach, the notable feature in this case was the presentation of acceptable evidence. The details of the case are:-- Katie Szpyrka v.LinkedIn Corporation,U.S.District Court for the Northern District of California,No.12---3088 Source
  18. Tricky topic to be discussed upon, Many would say that PDA's are okay within a limit, but the limit to be determined contains the trickiest job, schools all over the world have different kinds of students----different on the basis of environment they are brought up in, cultural ethics etc. The individual nature of the student can't be ruled out and the conduct code of each school is also unique and at times can say a bit rigid,so the display of affection in public can be avoided if it is considered to be something offensive, for even if the person is really expressive, affection is necessarily to be felt, not to be displayed.
  19. Absolutely true that is, I have seen several families going through the same kind of stress, as I had mentioned in one of my other posts that children nowadays keep away fro trusting their parents,or probably the case can be that parents fail to instill that trust within the children, may sound shocking to many but with both the parents going out to work, there isn't time left for them to spend with their children, mere financial support is no way sufficient to bring a kid up. Talking about whether the teenage daughter of the pastor had a chance of lying, she certainly did, as the children become more aware of their rights, they seem to show an inclination towards misusing those rights by almost threatening their parents if anything happens to go against their wish, and the cops....poor guys, did they have any other option? The best solution would be to nourish the parent child relationship and both of them need to participate equally in that process.
  20. The cause effect relationship between negative thoughts and action could also be the other way round, I meant the circumstances that are created by something beyond the capacity of human thoughts, moreover it is difficult to grade an opinion as right or wrong for the perspective behind the opinion has to be taken into account, the same applies for thinking as well, what appears right to one may be wrong from someone else's perspective, it is not that easy to determine what the right bent of mind should be as that is mostly subjective and dependent on situations.
  21. A huge loss has occurred in the field of sports as Cuban boxer and three time heavyweight champion,Teofilo Stevenson died of a heart disease at the age of 60. Stevenson has achieved remarkable laurels in sports, with his first gold medal in Munich in the year 1972,and then at Montreal in 1976.The third gold come to him at Moscow in 1980. He is the second athlete in his forte to have attained the credit of three gold medals at separate games. Stevenson was fondly known as "Pirolo" and was known best for his mastery over the skills of the game. He was born on the 29th of March,1952,in an eastern region of Cuba, Las Tunas. He started to Show strong signs of sportsmanship at the age of 14 and at an early age of 16,he won his first international title in the Central and Caribbean Championship. Stevenson grabbed his first world title in 1974,followed by victories in 1978 and 1986,he could not but had to let go the opportunity of obtaining his fourth gold medal, when Cuba did not have participation at the Los Angeles games in 1984.In 1988,when Cuba kept at length from Seoul Olympics also,Stevenson made up his mind and announced his retirement. As a true Cuban, he never turned his back on the ideals of communism in his country, for which he had to forgo a fortune of millions.Earlier in January, he was hospitalised for having trouble with an artery near the heart.Carrying on with his love for boxing, Stevenson was associated with the boxing federation of the country as the Vice President. Along with Cuba, the whole world is mourning the loss of the legend who not only was brilliant in the game but also a pure Cuban at heart. Source
  22. There have been points in the discussion made towards the fact that women are not selfish, but there so many men also who have shown signs of selflessness, and as you mention that everyone does not have the same experience with life, then the stress on the title about women only should compromise their career for the family also can't be generalised as many of them do not compromise at all, even if there are suggestions from members of the preceding generations. The repetition in stating that women choose to stay away from their career as they are not selfish, emphasizes on the point that ones who do not give their careers away are selfish, women from which generation wasn't stressed upon, it was women in general.
  23. The pastor of a megachurch,Creflo Dollar was arrested in Fayette Country, for alleged acts of cruelty to his daughter, whom he reportedly choked, slammed her to the ground and hit her with a shoe. However,Dollar's version of the incident doesn't match the accusations at all.He said that he hadn't hit his daughter and it is none but results of exaggeration.Last Friday, the police received a call from Dollar's home at around 1a.m.Looking for traces of violence, the police could spot a mark on the neck of Dollar's 15 year old daughter.According to Dollar, there was a mark on the daughter's neck, which was due to eczema and it has been there for 10 years. He said that the police ended up assuming too much and he wasn't happy with their judgement. The daughter's statement carried that the bashing was the result of an argument about her attending a party the next night. Dollar, after spending a few hours in the jail and then obtained bail by paying $5,000 for it. At the World Changers Church International on Sunday in Atlanta, that it wasn't true that he hit his daughter. On Friday,as well Dollar stated via his attorney that he loved his children and could never cause harm to them even in his dreams. Source
  24. Yes, that is absolutely correct, I had been in the teaching profession for a long time and I know the school authorities would pressurize us to pass the students, even if they were not sincere at all with their stuff, just to avoid any kind of bad name getting associated with the school, we all had to try hard to make these students pass by conducting extra classes, even repeating lessons if required, yet some of them did not seem to be interested at all.they were eager to indulge in intoxication and could held for eve-teasing, but no action was taken against them. What I get to read in the story that sheepdog has linked to, is really nowhere close to sanity, and more than sure that the people who act as police for teenagers, were far worse themselves and somehow it is always easier to punish others, just a display of their superiority and power, but what has gone wrong with the judiciary? Why did they fail to give an insightful thought over the 17 year old girl, and left her to experience misery in the jail? Truly scared of this world now.
  25. The point that the originator stressed is that women have to sacrifice their career for their family, as many of the posts state that women are selfless when it comes to raising a family, then how does the word sacrifice pop up. In the recent times there are tons of women who choose to be on the other side, I mean continuing with their careers, they handle the responsibilities attached to them, but who will decide what the responsibilities are--- like what part for men and what for women, it all depends on the convenience factor, if the man's work place is closer to their house and the women travels a fair distance to reach to work, then it is not necessary that the woman still has to take care of all the household chores, most of the husbands nowadays do realize that they should extend a helping hand to the lady of the house. Moreover, I don't buy the idea that women leave their job to look after the domestic issues and they are selfless or something like that, many of them do so because of the issues at workplace or want to ease it out. In cases where they left working for the family, it is purely a matter of choice, neither sacrifice nor an act of selflessness, for that you have to prove how men and only men are selfish. I have seen families where man have contributed a lot. As a woman myself, I feel that we should be proud of our decisions and not regret in a way stating that we have made sacrifices,we do what we are supposed to do and we are happy with ourselves.
