  1. I will not agree with anyone who says that Opera needs to be more standard compliant. It is the most standards obeying browser out there. It is the only browser that passed the ACID2 test.I use Opera M2 for my mails it is fully integrated and more powerful than any e-mail client. It is really easy to work in different tabs with e-mails and web pages. This become a lot helpful while you sign up for web pages and the mail quickly come to you inbox.Opera ROCKS!!

    Ie7 And Ie 6

It beat Opera..on what stands are you saying this..Opera is the most secure browser out there.Even Firefox and other Mozilla based browsers will reach any where near it. IE7 is a huge improvement from the old Internet Explorer 6, they have leatnt to code well. The user interface was polished , phishing detection capabilities were implemented. It is more CSS compliant(not 100% Opera is).
  3. Strongly disagrees with you..Its not just windows.Nothing is secure if something can be locked it can be opened (at least theoretically).I assume that it is because Linux and Mac are not so widespread it is staying secure..the hackers will not gain something if they get in to an OS that is run by a few users. Everything is Vulnerable
  4. I have tried some Linux distros like Redhat Fedora Core 4, Core 5, Linspire, Ubuntu 6.06 is the one I am installed on my machine currently. As every beginer I also feels that it is very tough to leran sometimes I think windows is better.I will learn Linux seriously once I fond a way to configure my CDMA phone modem in Linux..
  5. a little off topic :I have a doubt you have said that you used windows drivers how is that ?, I have a CDMA modem with windows only drivers (Qualcomm Technologies) .
  6. I was looking for a header image for my blog hosted at wordpress.com while searching found this nice site. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ They do have categories like abstract, nature, technology, texture, food and drink, objects, artistic, financial etc etc.. All the headers are licensed under creative commons so no headaches... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/gallery/
  7. I like Live search but it is slow on my modem .I have configured my hotmail account with Live at my friends home and when I was using at mine it is not at all loading. From what I have heard it is really ompressive
  8. I prefer Tune up utilities it is really good.I always trust applications from reputed developers.ex: If something i from sysinternals i will not even think just hit the install button
  9. I think he told that he is so sure about the parental control features of windows vista that there is no chance his son will be "able" to download something malicious to his PC.I don't think Vista will work without an Anti Virus, as of now I know only AV that work with Vista (designed for Vista) it is NOD32.
  10. I have used Norton Anti virus 2006, Kaspersky Anti virus 6.** NOD32, McAffe Anti virus 2007 etc.In my opinion Kaspersky and NOD32 works best, don't even try Norton Av it is the most resource hogging app out there.I have a 512 MB stick, i found Kaspersky using moderate resources, if you want the best system usage then go for NOD32 it is better than Kaspersky at detection rate and performance. The "only" problem is it looks a bit cluttered UI.
  11. Yes that is a problem but it is better than having ads on your page..the problem with blogger.com is it is slow and it is not really feature rich.
  12. Now with Blogger Beta you have catogeries also know as labels it is really easy.Just add the link to labels in the sidebar..ot os easy.
  13. There is no reason anyone to use this site because I think Wordpress is really nice and offers free hosing too.But you can't insert your own ads in it.I was first a blogger.com user now a wordpress.com user. The problems I am facing with the hosted blog is that I have to limit to the given templates and I can' edit the page to include java script and like things.
  14. I suggest you to take a look on the following page almost all free ftp clients are listed there http://download.cnet.com/windows/= --
  15. Nope.I think they are universal. That is if you edit the host file it will take care of all the needs. If you want to get a good enormous list of ad severs for host file you can get it from here[http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/index.php] If you are an opera user you can get the host file customized to your program at the following page : [http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/] As I told in the above post go to your opera directory (i.e profile). You can find where your profile is located by clicking Help|About Opera .Usually it will be in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\edit the urlfilter.ini file and add the list of file servers just copy it and paste it there.Simple isn't it? I have a question too where is Firefox's ad block extension storing its ad servers list ?
  16. OK.As of now no one of you have posted something about the topic and probably the moderator/admins will consider this as spam/junk.So I am writing a bit more about this hope you will participate after this. Windows Live This is a little heavy on my slow 115 KBPS CDMA modem but it sometimes load well on my Firefox 2.0 but I can't get this one to work with Opera 9.02 [my favorite browser:)].This is the prettiest looking start page that I have found you can choose different colour schemes, like black, blue etc. Their are a huge number of ad dons that are called gadgets a.k.a widgetsthat you Can add to your page to add more functionality. You can drag things around according to your liking it is completely flexible.I do have some problems using the page in Firefox 2.0 some times also I don't know if this is because it is of my ultra slow dial up connection. However I think this is the best AJAX start page around In My Opinion. I feel that Microsoft is going in the right direction with the Live set of INTERNET services, that is really functional and productive combined with great design. Hope you also will make contributions about your favorite start page or anything that you are using to organise yourself on line maybe that be the RSS feed reader you are using OR the Start page you are using Links https://login.live.com/jsDisabled.srf?mkt=EN-US&lc=1033 http://www.bing.com/?fdr=lc
  17. I disagree to thisQuatrux, on the above post I told you I haven't seen even a google adsense ad since I installed Ad muncher.Eventhough I am an Opera user I rarely use the adblocking feature. If you need to block ad effectively in Opera then I will suggest you to edit the /profile/urlfilter.ini
  18. I think pagerank is dead. And I don't belive in it too.Do you know what is the Pagerank of Yahoo!.com world's most popular website. It is just 8/10.Isn't that foolish.Googles own blogger.com blog hosting service gets 10/10.They are just biasing it, only because they have the power.I think if you have a blog and regular readers you will get a good pagerank. Many small blogs have good Page Ranks (4/10 , 5/10 etc)
  19. I am using AD Muncher it is a really great application that will stop all ads from every webpage easily. It works on all browsers and programs like Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger etc.I am an Opera user so it do have built in ad blocking also. But with ad muncher I can't even see google adsense ads..I know this thread is little old, love to know what are your current strategy.
  20. I have an AMD 3000+ 64 bit edition 939 pin processor.I am now in a dual boot setup. My distribution is Ubuntu 6.06 but I am not actively using it because, I can't connect to INTERNET using my CDMA Modem (fixed wireless phone).GRUB is my boot loader. I wish to know about the resources necessary in a virtualized enviornment
  21. I checked the site.It is displaying for me but I can't check the page rank of any site.I first tried Xisto.com then my blog..it is not going beyond the first page. If you think your IP Address is blocked try some proxy servers that will defenitely help you. https://www.google.com/search?q=anonymous+proxy+servers
  22. I used to run Ubuntu 6.06 this way.It will be a pain managing both the partitions (i.e windows and linux) OK I need to know how I can make my Windows XP come first into the list of Operating Systems ?What is the minimum requirement for running a Linux distro.I have only 512 MB RAM
  23. Another vulnerability to XP has been found by Security research firm Secunia. More Information on this http://secunia.com/advisories/22687/
  24. I know about Virtual PC 2004 and desktop virtualisation :)But the problem I am facing is practical my brother uses Windows and he is not interested in Linux (saying it is not going to overtake Microsoft Operating systems in the Home desktop)he may be true. But I want to learn Linux so I am thinking an option in which I can install it in the same machine via a external Drive or something like that.I don't need a lot of space 20 GB will be more than sufficient.
  25. I don't have an external HDD.But can you clear my doubt ?Can I use an external HDD to install and learn Linux ?
