Almost every "anti" application these days are using the system resources too heavily. But my personal opinion about Windows Defender is that it is one of the best in the business.I am not currently running any anti spy ware applications. If I need I do just an on demand scan with Defender, spy bot search and destroy, Ad aware SE.I am running Kasperky + Zone alarm so I don't have any problems

Who Is Your Favourite Free Host? whats your fav free host?
sujith replied to teartrack_sos's topic in General Discussion
I have only tried Geocities in the list you have given.Eventhough I am eligible for a hosting account at Xisto I am waiting for a bit longer (to get atleast 120 credits) so the posting and studies will not clash . I think the hosting is really nice thats what I can understand from the experince of the other members. As about the community it is really nice.If you have a question just ask people will answer it..addded that they will get credits for helping other members will be more willing to spend thier time.In my opinion this site is really usefull just because of the community alone.I will post my experience aftre I got a web hosting account. -
Sorry..I have mis spelt a word.I meant to ask about the pop ups.Can they overcome the current generation pop up blockers that are built into every web browser out there. In My Opinion they are doing a great job too. Haven't seen a pop up for years (using Opera 9.02 now)

Will the pop ups provided by this site can overcome th current generation popups..can you show me a demo.

But how many users update the browser regularly (to minor updates). If you are a technicjal user there is a chance you will update your browser regularly...say if your neighbour who is a non geek got Firefox installed by you..he will not probably update it.But at the current figure about 75% of Firefox users are tech savvy users so currently no problem but I think as more non advanced users come they on't understand the importance of updationof the software regularly. Only thing I hate about Opera is many toobars addons are not there. --

How about Dreamhost are they good, I have heard many bloggers say many good things about them but didn't really know.

One question to those who have tried it.Will the old themes work with the latest version of Joomla ? Any changes in the themes section ?
-
In my opinion Opera is the most secure browser out there not even Mozilla Firefox is safe.Mozilla do have more security holes than IE at a time Symantec has reported this. But Firefox is just marginally better, but it will also become more vulnerable to attacks as people will use it more but we have hope that as it is an Open Source project people will come with updates quicker than Microsoft does.I am an Opera user and really happy about that.. --

There the name server is listed as fllows : NS1.NEOWIN.NET NS2.NEOWIN.NET Does that mean it is hosted by them on thier servers it self? http://whois.domaintools.com/neowin.net

Well I am not really able to enjoy the things you have mentioned in your post because I am on a slow old dial up connection Which I am using to connect to the internet every time. But I know Internet is a great place to find what you need (legal OR illegal) if you know how to search for it. Recently there is a flood of sites that are tagged as "Web 2.0" there is also some sites that are Good. But many are just for wasting the time. I read Tecchrunch blog often by Michael Arrington, I have found a site where you can upload music files up to 8 MB. What I liked is that it says that you can upload anything (They are claiming that it is legal but I really don't know). You will get a blog, your personal profile pages etc. They also do have something called a Tunefeed Player it is a web based audio/mp3 player that you can integrate to other Websites OR to your blog if you have one. I think it is the best way to share music as it allows you to integrate stuff via their web based music player you can stream music directly, so if you have a blog just add the tunefeed player and people can hear your songs. But I don't know whether people can download songs from this site. OH!, I forgot to add that it do have full RSS support so you can get updates about the things you are Watching. Here is the address of the web site : http://www.tunefeed.com/ http://www.tunefeed.com/

Best Way To Promote A Website?
sujith replied to rhodesian.dragon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yes signatures are a good way to get people notice your site....do name your signature logically. Another thing is comment on blogs that talk about the topic you have at hand. For example say you have a site/page that talks about root kit scanners. Then search for that in a good web log (blog) search engine and make some great comments and leave a link to your site. You must do this with care.Because if your comment in that specific topic is not a good one, there is a very few chance that people will actually click on the link and come to your site. It is a little difficult but commenting high traffic sites is a great idea and post a link and explain what the link you are offering do have (What information more on the topic you are talking and how it will help them).Searching in blogs can be done through many site like, Google Blog search Technorati Yahoo! Blog search Icerocket etc.etc.. here are some links to some blog search engines https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=fjQEVdbLCKyH8QfopICYDw&gws_rd=ssl http://technorati.com/ http://www.icerocket.com/ http://search.yahoo.com/ http://www.bing.com/ I like searching for sites in Google web search(OR Gigablast) itself just add the service provider name OR the name of the blogging software that you are targeting .For example if you are looking to comment on a blogger.com blog (Or a blogspot.com) blog try the site: keyword and narrow down your query to that specific domain. If you want sites/blogs that are not using the free blogs try to add "powered by"+"CMS NAME" Substitue CMS NAME with wordpress drupal etc Forums are also good but they need you to register activate the account etc so it is a little hassle another thing you can do is to use services like Yahoo! Answers search for your topic (OR the question that your topic can answer) then give some great feedback and give some links to your content. Most of the time people will click on it. Making a network of friends who blog regularly is also a good idea you can exchange the topis you covered on your website/blog on each others web log. Please take time to develop good connections it will help you a lot.And remember to stay on the same topic. Use Trackbacks if you are using a CMS software to publish your content.Sometimes people will click on the links to see a different view/perspective on the topic they are viewing currently. You should take care to give a good introduction because tackbacks shows a small snipet of your post so people will guess what you have written there. -- -
I am also waiting for that...Are you running it using JSAS ?Can anyone tell me if this is included in the Fantastico script in the cPanel of Xisto accounts

I think Xbox 360 looks good to me and Microsoft also got many good games too (Including Halo series, GTA etc)So they will get a good number of consumers who look for certain games.I know considering the Hardware PS3 is powerful than the XBOX 360.Microsoft has got the XBOX LIVE and such stuff right, they were also the first to enter the consumer markets among the next generation gaming consoles. The price difference between the Play Station 3 and XBOX 360 is also another factor that is a plus for Microsoft and XBOX sales.I also see a great potential to Nintendo Wii..personally I like the new features that was introduced in it, many non gamers will also buy such stuff. Another good reason is that it will probably the cheapest among the new generation gaming consoles.Thier product is simple and innovative in nature

I don't remeber Windows 3.1 because I haven't seen it in my life time, only in some screenshots on some web pages. May be that is because each person like some aspect of the software,if some one dosen't need the visual interface of windows XP he will see it as an unwanted feature, may be geeks love things to do in the complex way,I hate Windows 98 very much because it was so unstable on my system, bad GUI it was really horrible working on it Me too have that same opinion. But I don't think everything has been over done,In my opinion it is the graphics I hate in Windows Vista,Many says Microsoft is trying to be more like a Mac, whatever be it I hate Vista's GUI.I strongly feels that they must provide a theme that looks like Windows XP. My favorite windows version is windows xp, no doubt in that.
