i believe the Database URLS are to the databases directly, and (hopefully) don't include the T17 sub-domain. -
After reading a question in the pre-sales section i nthis forum, about being able to transfer your Trap-17 data to paid hsoting by compuhosting, i went ahead with it.i put the following requested info in the notes section, as requested:"I have a Xisto Account, and would like all my content/databases moved to theCompuhosting account please. - my account is:tribunedesign.trap17.comand my user name on the Xisto Forum is: Goosestaf"Nothings been copied across though and i've received all the emails i need to, and the final one saying my account/domain is set up I need all my Xisto Account's Content and Databases moved to this new compushosting acount ASAP.please help

nice work.you've achieved a good load-time be using little images, and made up the style with css so well done, but i have to agree that your header graphic should be more 'connected' if you know what i mean. it seems very detatched at the moment, and a bit odd.The rest of the site looks good, except i don't really like the orange bit, but thats probably just my preference.

Firefox Or Internet Explorer that is the question...
Goosestaf replied to Judman's topic in The Internet
IE7 is better than FF IMHO.trust me, if FF ever got as popular as IE (which it never will) it will be cracked hacked and taken apart and revealed as buggy too.IE is moaned about having flas, secruity issues etc, but thats mainly down to FF not being a major target... yet. and FF has been hacked numerous times, with huge flaws for online shopping.so really the only difference is the tabbed browsing, OH WAIT, IE7 has that and its MUCH better than FFs IMO. the ability to open a new tab in ie7 is much easier than FFs. oh, and opera is as good as IE7 and FF anyday. -

Mental Waltz Dare to Let Your Imagination Dance
Goosestaf replied to Cerebral Stasis's topic in Websites and Web Designing
just checked again, and its looking much tidyer :Dal lthe issues i saw have been sorted and its now quite an attractive site :)The only main advice i could give you, is to limit the amount of blog/news entries o nthe home page, and after that amount, your site automaticly archives them, with a link to page 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc.other than that, great job -
New Site - Shout It Out! www.shout-it-out.net
Goosestaf replied to Blacklaser's topic in Websites and Web Designing
wow, i'm really impressed.Great idea for a site too.I really like the simple style of the site, and its great evidence that you don't need lots of images and fancy graphics to create a sleek site.Just push it!Promote it whever possible.Unless theres other shout pages, more established out there, it has the potential to be quite popular. -
the links are a bit small, theres inconsistencies with the background. try aligning up to test in photoshop, then cutting it apparently.but to be honest, the pop-ups put me right of your site, and i'm not even going to rate it fully untill they go away. as every time a link is clicked, pop ups appear, and their the bad ones wich gve you NO option than to open a crappy "clean your pc download". Those sites do nothing but give you spyware, so sorry. . .

Harry Potter Roleplay Site suggestions, comments, all welcome
Goosestaf replied to PmH's topic in Websites and Web Designing
mmmm well i guess the thread/forum catagories are well thought out, and you have obviously planned this out quite well. The Forum program you choose fits the job fine, and the template you used looks ok, if not a bit dark.My only main criticism is the lack of your own style into the actual appearence of the site.yes you have a banner at the top but the style doesn't fit the rest of the forum.Maybe thats all too come, but try and make it all look the same.and maybe a more harry potter related style if it gets really popular? mmmmmm like some bricks, textured paper, something like that kinda and whats a canon site? i tried to search, but only came up with the camera company -

Goosestaf replied to Cerebral Stasis's topic in Websites and Web Designing
mmmm i got quite a few (what i believe are) browser issues. But before that, nice job o nthe graphics <_<i like the style and the rusted metal style texture panels.not a huge fan of the font your using, and don't really liek the way the blog content is all centered, makes it loosk a bit amateurish.but now, i'm using IE7beta and this is what i get when i few the page.( the image is of two screenshots)Not entirely sure whats going on with the background o nthe left, and the end of what looks like a possible header which is repeating itself. The image links on the side of all the pages are dead links, so maybe the directoy is incorrect or something.and the blog page is almost like an external site jsut stuck in a frame n your new site.but it loosk like that your site does possibly use an iframe for the main content.but i'm sure you'll get them ironed out , liek you said :ph34r:As for design, its getting there, but feel like it seems a bit flat at the moment.l if yu know what i mean.it could jsut be the broswser errors i saw, and/or the alck of imges in paces etc.but good luck with it all :(will be checking this forum for progress updates etc -
Community/forum/website Management Software
Goosestaf replied to Voidless_Shadows's topic in Websites and Web Designing
what rvalkass said is true.it is largely down to personal preference, but if your looking for it to be heavily forum based, then IPB or PHPbb would suit fine, aslong as you can jazz it up with your own site's identity.CMS tend to be moreabout ease of adding content to a general website, which may, or may not include a forum. I would advise against Nuke, as 90% of sites created with it turn out ugly and with an "out of the box" feel to them.Joomla is a great and powerful CMS, and with addons such as Community builder, and Forum Bridges, you can create a great communtiy focused website, and give privledges to certain users to add and publish content. If you need nothign more than a forum with a home page to post news and maybe some other little thigns like, shoutbox, calander, basic statistics etc, then jsut get a Forum and use add-ons etc.But if you want a way to manage and add content to your site quickly, with a forum attatched and integrated, then get a CMS.(strictly speaking PHPbb and IPB can be classed as CMSs as well, but their bassily forums with some added functionailty) -
wow, props to the guy who drew/painted that.great peice of artwork.

spawn of satan = pop-upsnuff saidbut seriosuly, god dam annoying. . . . i find the "roll-over" flash block adds annoying too. . . . the oens where you accidently roll over it it expands over parts of the page grrrrrrr

Simple Logos What do you think about them
Goosestaf replied to BooZker's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
the grey is the better of thr two, simply because its alot easier to actually see.the gloss is nice too ( but in your site its a bit sly that you've made the link to freewebtemplates so small its unreadable unless u zoom in by an extreme amount ) -
ok. . . lets get some things straight lola name is just that. . . a name . . . it doesn't need to be relevant. . .. it doesn't even really need to make sense. If a buisness/site is successful, people will rarely question the name and accept it as it is. . . .for example. . .google. . . . i mean. . what the hell?. . .. thats a stupid name. . . . but it isn't seen as that because its got immense popularity. . . . same with amazon. . . . the word itslf has nothing to do with shopping what-so-ever, but we all accept it because its an established brand,so thats bassicly just saying, ANY name can work as long as its short and simple.the only real requirements are just that. . .. make sure its short, simple and rememberable ( to an extent)Ask Jeeves has recently changed its homepage and operating title to simply "ASK".com. easier to remember for sure lol.being related to your topic MIGHT help, but an abstract but simple name might stand out more and be more rememberable to a user. . . .i.e, what stands out more. . . http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.gameport.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ know what would stick in my mind more once i had visited the site. . . . as long as you market the site properly getting people to recognise your site as related to gaming wouldnt be a problem. .. . . hope my thoughts have helped (or possibly confused)

well thats your opinion, but its quite a narrow minded one. . . . the latest IE is NOT UNSTABLE, i havent had one crash or error since installing and running it. The tabbed browsing is excellent, and better than firefoxes exercution, in the way new tabs can be created with alot more ease than FF. The layout is less cluttered. . . .. but that doesn't mean they copied FF . . . . its a logical thing to do. . . . . also. . . sooo they have new shiney graphics. . . .. the whole world is going shiney, its just a graphics trend, which was NOT STARTED BY FF. . . . using ur mentaltity, FireFox copied Apple OSs and apple copied someone else no doubt. . . . stop being bitter u fanboy . . . open your mind! IE7, also has proper PNG support, better CSS support and better RSS support. Many people moan about IEs interpretation of certain CSS codes, but. . . IE makes alot more sense of CSS than the actual code. . . . a good example is the box model in CSS, with the border, margin, padding situation ( if you know CSS you will most likely have agood idea what i'm talkign about), but IE makes sense of that and so does Opera, but Firefox messes up the whole system by doing it exactly completely ill-logically. . . . meaning having to do work arounds for Firefox. . . . . and why is having IE built into the OS a bad thing.. . .? unless they didnt allow you to install any other browser, but thats VERY unlikely. . . . they would be taken to court bassicly for bad buisness practices. Overall, great MUCH improved new version! defintly give it a try

woah. . . that is REALLY thin lolwill be very useful for phones, and mp3/pmp devices.Really lookign forward to any new sleek Portable Media Devices with 40gig+ HD and large colour screen, being lauched This tech should help

well, a new version of paint wouldn't hurt :)i mean, the main reason i've always hated paint is the lack to take back steps and the lack of LAYERS!But with adding layers the complication of the program goes up, and the type of casual user who use paint might be put off and scared by it.. . . . . i mean, paint is NEVER goign to become a serious graphics program, so they do they really need to update it alot?People who seriosuly want to create graphics, edit etc, will use proffesional programs etc.And now-a-days most scanners and other digital photo related products come with free photo editting graphics programs.

Very good looking site.Graphics and layout are very clean and tidy and easy to use.Navigation is very useable, if not a tad too small possibly. Love the psotionign of the differernt layout elements. Sure it'll have great funtiona;lity too :)grea job!!!

^^ off topic spam? delete maybe? ^^this new WMP image format won't be that bad i suppose. . . . i guess it'll suceed more than the Jp2 format etc, as its got Microsfot behind it . . . . . and if MS tells you to use somethign ,you generlly don't have a choice :(But if its got better compression with better quality then i don't mind Notice from serverph: spam reported by Goosestaf removed. disregard his "arrow" remarks pointing to the post preceding this.

My New Site tell me about my new site design
Goosestaf replied to rldowling03's topic in Websites and Web Designing
not bad.Graphics: Not bad, the grey backgroudn and main site body colour contrasts well. Can't say i'm too fond of the header graphic though. A bit amateurish and expected from such a fan-site. Layout: Pretty plain, but i guess it'll work well Not sure if the main content is suppsoed to stretch all the way to the right, but that could jsut be a place holder space. Navigation is in all the right places, and the 'you are here' feature will be very useful :)Content: not much of it yet, but you said your were workign on it Although your plannign alot so hope your ambition isn't too much.alrite effort.nothign really stands out though i'm afraid :(and if your sites going to be sucessful it will have to offer something more, differernt, new etc, mainly to give your users reasons to use your site over others, and keep visiting.
