I have never used a hit counter because I have never felt the need of doing so. I am a big fan of Google Analytics and when you use this great service, you won't need to use anything else. It not only shows the number of hits your pages receive, but also a lot of other valuable analysis. The greatest part of this service is that it is completely free.

This approach is beautiful and I will definitely follow it but I have something to ask. What did you exactly mean by three links to my website from a domain. The number one website in SERP for the search term HUMAN ANATOMY has 18000+ links to it. If I am supposed to obtain only 3 links from the whole hubpages website (I can only add 3 articles to hubpages that link back to my homepage) then how I am supposed to build that many links (if I am to build that many (just for curiosity)). I also want to clarify one further thing. Isn't each page treated differently be search engines. The page http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ are different and suppose I have a link from both page1 and page 2 to my homepage. I have 10 similar links from hubpages/page3, hubpages/page4 and so on. Will not these links be treated as separate unique links. Or will they be treated as ten links from hubpages.com to my website. If they are treated as unique separate links, then why I am not supposed to build more than 3 links from a domain and if they are treated as 10 links from hubpages.com then what will be the link authority passed to my home page if the page linking to me has PR0 while hubpages homepage have PR6. I also want to confirm one further thing. Would this be good if I obtain 3 links to every single page of my website (total of 160 currently) from hubpages alone (through 160x3 articles).

Is Search Rank Affected By Slow Loading Time?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Search Engines
I am glad to hear that there is no penalty for slow pages but just for curiosity, I must ask something from @Starscream. Suppose there are two websites having all the stuff similar (not in terms of copied content but just as an example suppose all aspects of the websites are similar) execpt site A takes more time to load than site B. The problem might be in coding of the site or the slowness of server. Wouldn't it be injustice with site B if both these websites are ranked same by the search engine and site A is not penalized (relative to siteB ) -
@Starscream, First of all let me say that I am very glad to see you back. You have really helped me throughout.I read a post from @Vhortex in which he indicated the dramatic effects of slow loading time on SERP. I tried to find something on it by searching on Google but I was unable to do so and then I made some posts here. I am glad to hear that there is no penalty for slow pages. I do understand the damage done by slow loading times on the user end (less people will like to visit my site) but because my niche have more than 90% new visitors, most coming from search engines, therefore this is not such a big issue for the time being. I have added a lot of pages to my website and I have submitted my website to a lot of directories. As a result google has awarded me a PR of 3, but I don't see any increase in traffic with that increase in PR. So this confirms your idea of not going after PR thing and just developing your website for your visitors. Adding more pages is not earning me a lot of traffic so now I have decided to change plans a little bit. I think that I have added enough pages and now its time to get exposure to main pages of my website. I am planning to work on improving the SERP of those pages the main keyword of which receives a lot of traffic. I will obviously do this by obtaining backlinks to those pages from a number of different websites. I have decided to use article marketing as a major source of backlinks. Is this approach correct? I need your advice on this.

Obtaining backlinks is the most important aspect of SEO and article marketing is one of the best strategies to obtain quality backlinks. However, I wonder, how many links can I obtain from one article publishing site to my home page. According to my knowledge, it doesn't make any difference whether you receive one back link or 10 backlinks from the same website. So suppose I publish 10 articles on ezinearticles.com and I recieve 10 quality links to my homepage, will that still count as if I have obtained only one backlink to my homepage from ezinearticles.com.Or I am wrong in saying that 1 or 10 backlinks from the same website are equal?

Is Search Rank Affected By Slow Loading Time?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Search Engines
Loading time is increased depending on user's internet speed. That obviously is not going to have any effect on search results by any extension of imagination. But when the loading time increases by placing a lot of stuff on a webpage, will this affect the SERP of the respective page? In one of my other posts I have asked @VHORTEX about the impact of placing ads on webpage's SERP. I am targeting the same question here. -
That was a nice reply but I must say that you have left some questions unanswered. I asked you about the effects of placing ads (which increases the page loading time) on the ranking of a page in search results. I also asked you about the impact of placing CPM ads (which increases loading time much more as compared to google adsense ads) on the SERP. I am really worried about the SERP of my webpages and I really need to know these things. Please leave a reply to this @VHORTEX

I read a post of an Xisto member (Vhortex) in which he indicated that slow loading time can affect the rank of a web page in search results dramatically. I researched this topic on google but unfortunately I wasn't able to retrieve much information about it. So I am posting it here to know your opinion about it.

@vhortex I am really glad that you checked on my website. I am really eager to know more about the impact of loading time on my website rank in search results. Most of the traffic to my website is coming from google (although the traffic is not much but I can hope it to increase with the rank of my pages being increased). I am really worried about the ranking of my pages and I would love to know about factors that can boost or decline my search engine rating. I have two internet connections. One is a bit slow and the other one is relatively fast. I have a firefox plugin installed on my computer which shows the onpage SEO factors of a page. The name of the plugin is DOCTOR SEO and it also shows the loading time of each page. When I am connected through the slower connection, the loading time of my website rises to about 15 seconds but when I am on the faster internet connection, the loading time drops to less than 8 seconds. So I thought that the loading time depends on the internet connection and has nothing to do with the server. I remember once visiting a section of google analytics which showed that my site is slower than about 70 percent of sites on the internet. I researched on its implications and how its calculated and I found that it depends on the quickness of server's response to google bots. With further research I found that the major impact of a slow site is that google bots will index less number of pages on each visit. I didn't find any information saying that this can affect my search engine rating. Please share with your knowledge of slow sites and the affects of slowness on search engines. Also please tell me how can I improve the speed of my website. I would also like to share another thing with you which is related to loading time of my website. The pages on my website which don't have any ads on them load faster than those which do have ads. Does this affect the rank of my pages in search results? Also I want to ask you that I recently added a CPM banner on my website which takes a whole lot of time to load and thus increases the loading time of my website. Will this affect the search engine rating of my webpages.

You are absolutely right vhortex. There are a lot of website which have PR of 0 and alexa rank of more than 100000. They might have some issue with google's rating but they still recieve a lot of traffic. PR and traffic are two different things in my opinion. It does not necessarily mean that a website recieving a lot of traffic will have a high PR or a webiste with high PR will recieve a lot of traffic. But I must tell you that with all other things common, websites with higher PR are more likely to recieve more traffic. The reason is that google respects sites with higher PR and you will have to admire that Google is one of the biggest sources of traffic for almost all websites (yes there are exceptions, but for an ordinary webmaster, google is the biggest source of traffic.) So if google respects your sites and most likely places them above your competitors in search results, then your website is likely to recieve a lot of traffic. Please tell me if I am wrong>

If a bad website links to you, it doesn't affect your rating or reputation at all. The concept behind this is that it discourages the competitors to damage your reputation by posting your links on bad websites. In this way the competitors can only surpass you by making their own product better than you and not by damaging your product. The thing that damages your rating and reputation is your linking to bad websites. Google and all other search engines have their own classification of bad websites and you must follow their classification and never link to bad websites. An easy method for Google is to check the PR of the website you are going to link to. If it is 0 and the website in not very new (which can be checked from the "whois") then most likely the website is a "BAD" one. You should avoid linking to such websites. Any website which has some PR (even PR 1) is not a "BAD" website and linking to such websites won't harm your own rating. If you have a PR7 website and you are linked by PR0 or PR1 websites, it is good for you. Although it is not as good as being linked by websites of PR higher than your own PR, but still a link is a link and although it brings little reputation with it, it does or potentially does bring a lot of traffic to your website, which in turn can be hugely beneficial. So don't be afraid of being linked by low quality or young websites. A link to your website can never do harm to you. It can only do good. It is your linking to other websites which needs proper attention and strategy.

Getting natural backlinks (natural in the true sense) means that you don't make others to give you link. Elaborating the concept, a link obtained by you through publishing an article is not a natural backlink. Similarly a link obtained by you through commenting on someone else's blog is also not a natural backlink. Obtaining natural backlinks purely depends upon the quality of content on your website. An example of a natural backlink would be: suppose a visitor comes to your site through google's search (or any other source) and he liked the content on your site. Then while posting on a forum or commenting on a blog, he posts a link to your site saying "hey I once visited this website and it had really awesome content". This would be an ideal natural backlink. And believe me, in the longer run, only this type of link building is going to help you because other types including article marketing and blog commenting are limited to the time you can give to your website. When you start a new project and you don't have enough time to give to your old website, then the ranking of your website will become still and it will not rise further. So if the content of your website is great, people will naturally link to your site and you will get more and more backlinks and your ranking will improve with each passing day.

In my opinion, building backlinks by commenting on other blogs is not a very good idea. There are a lot of problems with it. First of all you will have to find blogs within your niche. This part is the easiest one because you can use services like google blog search or technorati search. After finding a good number of blogs, you will have to look for those who allow comments (although most blogs allow comments but sometimes when you find a highly relative blog post, you will be disappointed to see that the comments have been closed for that particular blog post). After filtering the blogs for the ability to post comments, you will have to look for blogs with active comment moderation. Most blogs have comment moderation turned on and your comment will not go live until it is approved by the webmaster. This is the worst part of building backlinks through blog commenting. Most niche blogs don't have active webmasters and it may take many weeks before your comments can be approved. Another downside of it is that you have to check on again and again on the blogs to see whether your comment has been approved or not. This is necessary because you cannot waster your time commenting on a blog whose webmaster don't approve your comments. After passing this huge burden, you will still find that most links you obtain will be no follow and they are not as fruitful as the links obtained by some other sources. So I would suggest giving a try to other sources of link building before choosing blog commenting for building backlinks. I am not saying that this is not an effective way of building backlilnks. It has its own advantages some of which are enjoyable time while commenting, easily obtainable links etc. but if you are serious about building high quality backlinks to your website, then blog commenting should come second.

I don't think the calculation is as simple as this. There must be a whole lot of other factors involved. I can say this because I have a website with homepage PR of 3. The pages linked directly by my website don't have any PR. Yes there are a number of other links present on the home page but still none of them seem to pass the PR through a simple calculation. I experimented with my homepage and left it only with one single link to another page of my website which actually had a PR of ). But still I couldn't see the PR of the linked page rising above. So if it had been such a simple calculation, the PR of the linked page should have risen to at least 2. I am not a SEO expert. I am just sharing my experience with you and the data I have provided you might be wrong.

This is a nice big list of forums and must have cost you a whole lot of time to make this list. However, I must mention here that I have tried the forum (forums.cpanetl.net) and the links inside the posts are not dofollow. The are nofollow links. There are some other limitations as well. For example I don't have the option of creating my signature available to me (I have created a new account just a few minutes ago) and I don't know what is the criteria to become able to create your own signature and profile picture.I hope the remaining forum links are actually dofollow.Nonetheless, thanks for the huge list of forums. It doesn't matter whether the links are dofollow or nofollow. They are still very useful because after all a link from a high pr page is still a link.

What do you mean by a catalogue?

By looking at the title of the post, I thought it would be something new. I didn't expect it to be Google's Keyword tool.Nevertheless, this tool is great and I use it regularly for my keyword research. However I must state here that the data of the tool doesn't often match with the data of google analytics and google webmaster tools. Often the Monthly searches shown in the Google Keyword tool are much more than they are shown in Google webmaster tools of Google analytics. But still it is a great free tool for webmasters.

Is It Possible To Block Indexing On Certain Keywords
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to vizskywalker's topic in Search Engines
I agree. The search engine will either index your page or won't index it at all. there is nothing like half of the page is indexed and half is not indexed. However, if you want your page to be ranked higher for certain keywords, more than the content of the page itself, it depends on the anchor text of the links pointing to the page. So get backlinks with anchor texts of your choice (not your friend's name) and then you will see that the page won't rank higher for your friend name but for the terms in the anchor text of links. I think it is the only way to achieve what you want (according to my understanding), Otherwise you will have to edit the content of the page and increase the density of the keywords for which you want to rank higher and decrease the use of your friend's name. -
Google adsense is great. Not only does it allow small publishers to earn money, but also pays the maximum in the industry. The wide range of advertisers makes it possible to have all types of ads and thus all types of websites can find relative ads through google adsense. Relative ads not only prove fruitful for the publishers but also for the advertisers. The publishers get more clicks and the advertisers have a higher chance of making sales because only targeted traffic comes through clicking the ads. Thus Google adsense is a beautiful system overall and is a source of income of many thousand small publishers.

Ask.Com Is Better Than Google In My Opinion
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to PublicThinker's topic in Search Engines
I don't think ask.com is any way near Google in terms of performance. Yes it is a fact that they have been putting a lot of effort to improve themselves but it will take a long time for them to compare with google. They are sponsoring a number of applications to make people install their toolbar which shows that they are trying hard to get visitors but still their performance is not as good as google. Google is well set with a wide visitor base and Google keeps its visitor base through its performance.More than Ask.com, facebook seems to give a tough time to google in coming time because of its growth rate. Facebook is attracting advertisers at a dazzling pace and there is going to be a tough competition between the two giants. -
Need Clarification Of Some Wordpress Seo Concepts
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to buherath's topic in Search Engines
Each post of a wordpress blog has its own separate url and each post is treated like a different page. The single post page of every post has its own specific url. Search engines nowadays are very smart and so are the CMS systems like wordpress. To avoid the duplication issue, the areas of a wordpress blog that can arise the problem and made noindex by default and hence they are not allowed to be indexed by search engines and no duplicacy issues arise. I would also like to say something about the home page of blog. I am not an expert of SEO but by my experience I can tell that thousands of blogs are up and running and they perform very well in search engines. Some even perform better than comparative websites. So it means that there is no problem with home page of the blogs. May be wordpress or google itself have developed some means of avoiding any issues with the home page of blogs. -
Sorry but I didn't get it. Do people appear like bots or bots appear like users? How will the forum admin differentiate between users and bots?

This is a very nice summary of the SEO tips for beginners but I am afraid that they explain just a part of the SEO. In fact they explain the less important part of the SEO. The tips just explains the on-page optimization tips, which are considered to be less important than the off-page optimization. I am not saying that these are not important at all. They are in fact very important but as a matter of comparison with other part of the SEO (Off-page optimization) they are less important. So after making a good website and doing all the SEO thing you can do on your pages, you are still not finished. Actually you have done just the easier part of your job and difficult one is still to come. The most important of the off-page optimiztion (and as a matter of fact, the most famous one as well) is link building. It is one of the strongest factors in determining the success of website in SERP and overall. If you are successful in your link building campaign, you are very likely to achieve whatever goals you have set for your website but if you are unable to complete your link building campaign successfully, then no matter how great the content of your website is, you are very unlikely to achieve the goals from your website. So the most important thing to make your website successful is building backlinks.

Websites designed on CMS like wordpress also have a password on them I mean the databases always have passwords on them and yet they are crawled by search engine bots. I don't get the concept of password protected pages not being crawled by search engines because on the internet today, almost everything is protected by password. Can anyone help me get the concept behind this. Thankyou in advance.
