  1. I do not want the page1a or page1b etc to appear in any type of menu on my homepage whether it is a drop down or whatever. Also please tell me that suppose I have a main page (a page which is child of no other page) and I do not want its link to be displayed on another main page but I want its link to appear on the index page, what should I do?. Normally when the main pages are added, a link to them would be either visible or not visible at all. (I even do not know how to make the link to a page invisible on all other pages but that is not my goal for the time being).
  2. I want to create a static looking website on wordpress core and I know it is possible. The theme of a website is very important and I know that any theme can be set up to make static looking webpages (though I do not know how to set up the themes). I am looking for a wordpress theme that is actually built for static looking websites and does not need much modifications for static looking websites. Please share with me if you know of any such theme.
  3. Dynamic pages of websites using CMS like wordpress are created in a special way in which the links of the pages are not physical links in contrast to the static HTML links. In dynamic pages, an instance of the tempelate is created and content is added. This is what I found when I searched about the difference between static and dynamic webpages.I need a website in which some pages must look different from other pages. The them may be same or not but the actual thing I need is to remove sidebars from certain pages and make them visible on cetain other pages. The goal of this is to make a static looking website with wordpress core installed on my server. Content management systems are very good because they save a lot of time by making addition of new content to the website very simple that is why I want to convert my static HTML website to a CMS based website. Please guide me if you have knowledge about it.
  4. I have installed wordpress on a subdomain of my website and I want to make a website that looks like static content bases website and not like a blog which is arranged on the basis of time. I want my website to be arranged on the basis of pages of my website and for this I will have to create more pages instead of creating more posts. I am looking for a plugin in wordpress which allows me to display certain links of my internal pages on a webpage and also allow me to hide the link of other internal pages which I do not want to display. I think I should further elaborate my issue.I want a index page having links to page1 page2 and page3. Then I want page1 to have links to index page, page2 and page3. These links I want to appear in the main navigation bar. I also want another menu in the sidebar which will be the main menu of my website's pages having the links to other pages than the top level pages like home page, page1, page2, or page3. This main menu will contain links to page1a, page1b and page1c. I also want to hide the link to page1d to appear in the menu.I think I have explained my issue with enough ease of understanding. Please tell me which plug-in I will need.
  5. Thank you for your thoughts my friend. As you said in your last line, I have started making a website on my area of expertise and it is proving to be more fruitful than articles on websites like hubpages and xomba. The pages start making money quicker and the best part is that this all happens like a vicious circle. Once started, it continues to grow and grow. *(the term vicious may be negative in meaning but here I have used it in a pure positive tone)". Once your website starts gaining respect from search engines, adding more quality content to your site will provide results sooner than putting new content on websites like hubpages. Also another major benefit of having your own wbesite is that no matter how much you earn, but it is all going to be yours. There are no deductions and no shares of anyone else. Content on one's own website getting half as much traffic as content on websites like hubpages is better than the content of the same person on hubpages because at least you have control over your earnings and there is huge increasing potential. You are also right about using many different income streams at a time. I will take it using different types of methods through which one can earn money online. For example someone has a website and he has monetized it with google ads and is earning money from it. He also writes some content for other revenue sharing websites. This is his second income stream. The third income stream is that he is also taking online surveys and writing reviews to earn some extra cash. In this way one creates many number of possibilities of earning money online. Another important benefit of using different income streams is that the different streams can be interconnected with each other to produce even more beneficial results. I will explain this statement by elaborating the above example of a person having both his own monetized website and also content at revenue sharing websites, What this person can do is that he can interlink the content on one website to the content on the other website. This linking not only will increase the search engine reputation of all his pages but also will guide traffic coming to his one page to go to his second page and so on. So the writer will not loose traffic as easily and he will have higher chances of making good money online. By the way please share with me your experience with any online making money website of any type.
  6. The thing that I value the most is the reputation that search engine will give to my website and if dynamic pages of engines like wordpress can get more search engine value then I am certainly not going for satic HTML and CSS pages. I want my content to be respected by search engines and if the respect can be increased by using wordpress, I am definitely going for it but I have a few concerns. How much time will it take to gain enough familiarity with the environment so that I can achieve the desired results all on my self and not depending on the google search for every little problem I face. I do not php at all and if there is any knowledge of php required, then I will be in some huge trouble because i do not have time to learn php now. I want to redesign my website once and for ever. I do not want to change it again that is why I need to first completely clarify to myself where should I go to earn the maximum revenue from my website that is possible. Please guide me.
  7. You explained the concept of different links from a single domain very effectively and I have no choice but to believe what you say. You are also very right about hubpages and other sites like that but I did not know that links from an article to other domains are limited to two only. I saw the bookmark feature at xomba.com and I really liked it. I do not know whether the link is dofollow or nofollow but it certainly can bring some traffic to my articles at hubpages even if it cannot bring any "link juice" (as you call it). I read the help of xomba and there a very important thing was written about bringing traffic from social sites like facebook and twitter. How is your experience with using social sites as a place to bring traffic to you artiles or your website and do you know any social site from which I can get dofollow links to my website.
  8. Thank you for your good comments about the discussion but I would be more grateful If you can help me about the issue like starscream is helping me. Please share with me any knowledge you have about CMS.
  9. I am not going for drupal even if I have no other choice atleast for the time being. I spent about three hours looking at drupal installed on my site and I even do not know how to create one single link. If I have to go for drupal then I will wait and first learn it but I think you are right starscream. I should go for wordpress because of its ease of use. For the time being I am planning to develop a blog with my ordinary HTML CSS website and then I will make another site on some else topic with wordpress once I get to the roots of making good website with wordpress. How does the idea seem to you? Also I read on a webpage that for sites which do not need to change their content often, HTML and CSS is good enough to work with. Now i have good knowledge of HTML and CSS and the content on my website does not need to be changed at all. Also I do not need additonal functions on my website like user accounts etc because all the content is going to be free and available to every one. Associating a blog made in wordpress with my static website appears good to me but I request you to please guide me what pros and cons it will have. I am planning to make the blog on a subdomain of my website for example blog.mananatomy.com. How will it be in terms of seo. Can it help the overall rating of my website.?
  10. I dot know I have learnt all that I have read from webpages on the internet. I have not used wordpress for non blog websites. I have used it for blog websites. I read a strong comment on a website about wordpress that wordpress may not prove good for non blog websites. (the article was on comparison of wordpress, joomla and drupal) you can check it at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. So if you think wordpress is good for non blog sites the I think I should give it a try.
  11. I have installed drupal on my server and i want to make a good website from it. But after spending 2 hours, I don't even know how to add links to my navigation menu,I chosed drupal becuse after searching for about an hour on the internet I found that wordpress is best for blog sites but not so good for non blog sites who need to make modifications. The other important competitor was Joomla. I searched a lot on the internet and found that joomle creates dynamic web adresses and other things that are not search engine friendly and may negatively effect the SEO strategy. I do not want the search engines to treat my website badly therefore I went for Drupal which according to my search on the internet is the best of the three in therms of Search engine optimization. Now I need some very basic help regarding the use of drupal and developing a website through it.Please explain to me what is a module and what is the use of it.How can I add links to my navigation and sidebars. How can I divide the content of the page into three divs. I need three divs because of the format of the website according to which the top div will contain the title of the article, the second div will contain the googel ad and the third div will contain the actual content. How can I customize the look of the links, the color of the text, the size of the heading and slogan seaprately, and how can make my homepage of different look then the rest of the website.
  12. I have used wordpress quite a time ago when I had a blog on wordpress. My question is that can I use wordpress to generate page that looks exactly similar to what my page looks right now. This is the link to my website.mananatomy.com I do not want to create a blog. I just want a page that looks similar to what it is now. If the same type of pages can be used to CMS then I better transfer to it because I am already rennovating my website.
  13. So this means that I should add links from my articles to my website and not from my website to my articles on websites which do not allow linking. I want to ask you here that I have read somewhere that links from a single domain are treated as one single link by google. Is the statement correct? If yes then what will be the benefits of adding link from every article that I add, suppose, to xomba. Also I want to ask you that suppose I have a hubscore of more than 75 at hubpages and all my links are dofollow links. Then is it worth to add links from my website to the articles on hubpages. Or this will dilute the effect of links coming from the hubpages articles to my website.
  14. The problem is with the heading of the website. I changed the width and the height from auto to a fixed value but the problem could not be fixed. Then I saw a differences. When I used <h1> tag inside a div tag, Internet explorer did not add spaces above and below the h1 element (the space which is added above and below a block level element) while the firefor did add the space. Then I just added <p> </p> before the <h1> and the problem was corrected. For the empty paragraph firefox added nothing else but internet explorer added white space in the top and then in both browsers the position of my heading became the same.Have you noticed such a problem before. For information the firefox version on my pc is 3.1.6 and the internet explorer version is 8 beta.
  15. So it means that HTML is not the way to success nowadays. Please tell me that what search engines love most. I during my search on internet a few days ago found somewhere written that static webpages get the response of google after about 10-15 days while the dynamic pages get response within 5 days. The actual reason I went for static pages was that I thought the dynamic pages means blog style website and blog format is not good for my website. Please tell me that what is the basic difference between static webpages and dynamic webpages. Why the static webpages are called static and why the dynamic webpages are called dynamic. I have used wordpress blog a little bit about 7 8 months ago. I am familiar with it but can I design pages that are not blog style but like the static pages. If this can happen then it will be very good.
  16. Yes this really will help me. You are right that the PR race should not be considered. After all a link is a link and if it cannot bring reputation from the search engine, at least it has a high probability to bring quality traffic. If I add links from my articles to my website, which of course will be of same topic, then will it affect the traffic on my articles negatively or there is no thing like that,
  17. Please tell me more about CMS. What benefits will I get when I use CMS for my website as compared to using HTML and CSS for website. I do not get the point about kontera. The main reason I used kontera was to add a supplement to the google ads so that the overall income of my website increases.
  18. I have read somewhere that if you make certain declaration in the start of the HTML document, then the later versions of internet explorer will display the page properly. I was reading a book about learning HTML and CSS and as you said the book stated that different browsers have different methods of displaying the websites and the problem is especially visible when someone uses absolutely positioned div tags. The book said that different browsers handle pixels differently and that is why percentage based or "em" based calculations should be used.I don't know whether the problem will persist with percent based calculations but what I know is that it is very easy to use pixels based calculations and for an amateur like me, percent based calculations are not easy.
  19. I am developing a website using html and css but I have a problem the way website is displayed in the different browsers. I have a div (div class="top")for the top logo and name of the website etc. I have added a background to the div. I have made another div inside the top div. Both the top div and the logo div are absolutely positioned. I have set the float property for the logo div to be float:left;. I have added another div inside the top div for the headign h1 of the website. this div is also absolutely positioned and it has following properties div.heading { position:absolute; width:auto; height:auto; top:35px left:220px }now the problem is that in internet explorer the div is appearing to be about 30px above the position at which it is appearing in firefox. what could be the problem. Please reply
  20. You are right that money is not going to be earned easily and i have to work hard for it. You are also right that I have to work according to the TOS of the site, Please tell me that are the links of hubpages dofollow or nofollow. And also please tell me that what would be the value of a link to an article on hubpages from my own site that is similar in topic but have a PR of 0- I dont think links from PR0 websites are going to help much.
  21. Please explain to me why did you say that having static HTML pages is not good. Are they not good for adding search feature to the website or they are not good overall. If the static HTML pages are not good then what should I go for keeping in mind the structure of my website. I don't think a blog format is going to suit the structure of my website. The main reason of making website is to earn some money be using my knowledge so please guide me that what is going to be the best strategy to acheive my goal.,my website ismananatomy.com
  22. Please introduce me to CMS and how can I upgrade to it. What will be the benefits and what will be the side effects. My website is about human anatomy and it will have lots of illustrations and articles. I do not want to make a blog where people have to search my posts but I want to make a website in which the content resides in niches. For example my homepage have links to "Gross anatomy page", "Histology page", "basic anatomy page" and other pages like contact sitemap etc. Then the Gross anatomy page will have links to other pages like Gross anatomy of hand, Gross anatomy of foot, Gross anatomy of head etc etc. I want a website in this way. What will be best for me.
  23. I think you are right. I have not placed a good ad in the sidebar and my CTR is very low. This elaborates the importance of the sidebar ads. Also I think ads that attract the users towards them are very high clicks producing ads. I recently saw and ad at the wikipedia top. It was not a common ad. It was an appeal from the wikipedia owner to raise funds for the expenses of the company. The important thing about the ad was that it directly attracts the visitors attention because it is uncommon. So uncommon things attract attention.
  24. I have placed one ad right on top of the content and below the title of that particular page. Another ad is at the bottom of the content so that anyone who reads the full article have a high probability of reading and clicking the ads. Another ad which is an image ad is in the sidebar. I think the reason my CTR is very low is that I have placed on ad in the bottom and people do not read the content of my website because the content is usually too long. Also because the sidebar ad is nothing but an image ad. a 250 x 250 image ad. I also want to share my thoughts about kontera and infolinks. I have placed them on some pages of the website but I did not earn even a single penny so I dont think these ads work well.
  25. I think I have not made myself clear. I want to add search feature to my website without any external forced ads on it. I am not using wordpress or joomla etc and I have a website with all the static pages. So i want a search feature where users can enter a search term and then on a separate page the search results are displaced. The way in which all the websites have a search feature. I am so bad at English I cannot even make myself clear.
