In recent times, bing (microsoft's most popular search engine) has developed tremendously. It is continuously attracting new traffic and providing a tough competition to google. This works very well for the benefit of customers. I would like to give one example here. We all witnessed the recent update in google algorithm. According to this update, google has devalued content farms in its search results which means that content farms are now ranked much lower than they used to be. These content farms included huge websites like ezinearticles, hubpages and squidoo etc. It should be appreciated that these websites were among the top adsense earners which indirectly means that google earned a lot of revenue through displaying ads on these websites. But because of increasing popularity of bing, google had to do something to improve user experience and to keep its users happy. For this reason google was forced to do this upgrade. This is an example of how competition can cause a good user experience and how it can benefit consumers like us.

Well I had the same complaint with google but after the recent algo update, the issue is reducing and I have witnessed it. I remember quite a while ago I searched for a keyword and in the top 10 search results, 3 consisted of the same article copied on 3 different domains. Now when I search for the same keyword, I dont get the results like that. Yes I do agree that the recent update may have done more bad than good for sites like ezinearticles and for people who use such sites extensively but for a common searcher atleast something has improved. I hope that issues like these will be resolved in future and you will return to google. Yes that is something I don't like about google. They put a lot of non relevant stuff from sites like youtube in their top search results. Because of this, lot of webmasters find their websites ranked on the second page of search result instead of first. That is one thing google needs to think about. I have been using google from the time I started on the internet. I have no experience with bing. I am getting the info I need about 95% of time by using google but after seeing your comments, I think I should give a try to bing to check it out. If it is better than google, why not use a better search engine. A lot of people hear the advices of people like matt very carefully because he is an official google employee. So although he might not be good at SEO, he is still a google official and he has a responsibility to speak the tru;th

I don't know the reality of this website. I have never tried it. In a post under this topic, there is some proof presented which shows that this website really pays money. I tried to make a point in the previous post that unless you are really sure that these types of systems are going to work for you, it is better to invest your time in something which is more trustworthy. I would suggest newcomers to first research about various methods of making money online and only then decide the one which is going to be best for them.Paid to download programs look very lucrative but believe me that you have to work really hard to get them going for yourself. In most cases, if the same amount of time is expended in something else, the reward will be greater. These systems work best for those who have strong groups which can download files for each other. So unless you are hundred percent sure about the outcome of your work with these programs, it is better to invest in something safer.

That really looked compelling. I have spent a lot of time to understand the procedures of how to rank good in search engines but i really don;t have any knowledge of how to bring in referral traffic that can convert into revenue. I really liked the statement that if your product is good enough, search engines like google will come after you instead of you going after them. But I have a question for you. My target is not 100$ per day. I will be really happy with 10$ per day and with an average website like that of mine which has nothing new in it, getting famous seem somewhat impractical. The number one website in my field is not that famous and gets only 7000 visit per day. I mean to say that the niche of my website doesn't allow me to take independance from search engines. People who look for information that is present on my website don't bother to remember the names of websites. They just go to google and search for the terms. Although I have about 20% traffic coming from referring websites, but I don't think any of this will be getting converted into revenue for me. On the other hand, traffic from the search engines have high chance of clicking on the ads. If the goal of my website is to earn money from ads, then what would I do with the traffic that wont click the ads for me. Why should I bother to get this type of traffic.

I am not denying the importance of new content for my website but what I am trying to say is the relative benefit that I can get from adding new content versus obtaining links for the existing content. I feel that instead of adding new content, if I invest my time into bringing my current pages upper in the SERP, this will benefit me more as compared to the benefit coming from adding more content. I know that adding more content is always going to be helpful in the longer run but I need some short term benefits for the time being to keep me going with my website. Because I am not achieving my goals and at times I think of just giving away with it. My content is by no means on the high pricing keywords. The CPC is just about $0.15 on average. I was talking about the CTR only. That is the percentage of visitors clicking on my ads. I thought that this has nothing to do with the CPC but after reading the quoted paragraph, I think that you mean to state some relation between the two. If it is the case, then I will like to hear more about this. Please tell me more about what you actually meant to say.I thought that CTR and CPC are two different things. CPC is related to the price of ads that are placed on my website over which I have no control seemingly. I cannot alter the cost per click of the ads placed on my website therefore there is no way I can improve this. CTR is the thing which has some points under my control. I can place the ads differently on my website to see which format works best for my website. and until now the current ad formats work best for me because they are giving me the greatest CTR. I just meant to say that the CTR for my ads is good enough and if I can bring in more traffic, (Rather that increasing the CTR) I can potentially make more money. Now this is something I never heard of before. I have no idea how search engines scrutinize the reputation of pages that are at the top of SERP. I remember a post which I read when I was searching for information on link wheels. It was stated there that link wheels bring temporary results because once your website gets established through the links coming from the link wheels (as well as other legit links) search engines will finally at some point come to recongnize the link wheels and your site will be slapped. Now I can bring the pieces of puzzle together through your scrutiny theory. I would really love to hear more about this. This is really a sad news for me because I thought that I could learn a whole lot by looking at your website. But I hope you will get your website updated soon and then share the link with me. By the way I don't think it is against the rules.

@starscream you aren't alone their. I am sharing the same lack of fortune with you. Although I have never taken these ways of making money seriously but I don't think these can work for me either. They require a lot of dedication and continuous hard work. On the other hand, I think, if I put the same effort in some more recommended way of earning money online, I can surely make some money, which might be less in terms of volume but will be sure. So better be sure about the investment of your hard work. I haven't really had a chat with someone for whom these systems work. As mentioned in one of the post in this topic, a user made 40$ in a day by downloading his own files through opera. These type of things seem to make you rich but they last for very short time and in my case I need a regular income of money. A regular stream is not the characteristic of online money but there are some ways through which a relatively regular stream can come. The best of these is creating your own website which is useful for others. the website will only get better and better with each passing day and your earnings will increase. The earnings will be steady as well and you won't need to work regularly. More people search for content that looking to download things. Moreover, people who download a thing once are very unlikely to return and download it again. On the other hand people return again and again for content. SO in my opinion it is better to invest your effort in some more sure way of earning money online,

Can We Really Make Money On Internet ?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to 16888's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I agree with starscream completely (as i do on most of the occasions). PTC sites are a real waste of time. A friend on mine introduced me to the ptc sites. The first thing i asked his was that i doesn't seem a good source of income because at 0.01$ per click, you aren't going to get anyway near making money online. he told me that you will get referrals and the then money will start pouring in. He further said that it is only going to take less than 5 minutes a day and that was what compelled me to start wasting my time on ptc sites. I thought that even if I failed. 5 minutes a day is not much waste. After I worked for a few weeks, I really got bored and thought that I should give it up but something kept me on it. After working for about 8 months, I finally concluded that these sites are real spam and they aren't going to do good to people who don't spend hours to get referrals. So if you can't spend hours to beg people to become their referral, the ptc thing is not going to work for you. It doesn't work for almost all average people. So my opinion to all those who are being compelled by their friends to start working on ptc, is that they should first decide that they will have to spend hours looking for referrals to succeed in this business. The same amount of time if put in other ways of making money can really generate some income., -
Can We Really Make Money On Internet ?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to 16888's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I checked the website you mentioned. It is really useful for someone who is looking for some autamated scripts (bots as you call it). Unfortunately, I didn't find any legit way of making money online written there about which I have never heard before. So as far as the process of making money online is concerned, I don't find this website very helpful. It is stuffed with things like auto surfers and auto clickers but come on, this stuff don't work and we all know this. I really wonder how you made 6000$ through ideas coming from this website. I will dearly request you to share these ideas with us so that we can make the same amount of money as well. I hope you won't mind my post. It might seem a bit bitter in taste but that is what I found in reply to your post. Sorry if I hurt you. -
You might be completely correct but unfortunately, webmasters need traffic and they have to follow the greatest source of traffic online. We don't have the luxury to make Google do what we want it to do but because it is the greatest source of traffic, we have to obey its orders. If I am to develop a website which does not depend upon traffic from Google, it will take a long long time to establish such a website and may not be as beneficial.

I must mention it here that according to the data of Google analytics and Google webmaster tools, all the traffic to my website (7000 visitors per month) (13000 page views per month) are coming to only 15-20 of these 180 pages. The remaining pages are not getting any traffic. After seeing this data, I concluded that adding more and more pages isn't going to help me achieve my goal until I make the main pages of my website conspicuous. Let me elaborate this by an example. I have a page titled "body Systems" whose children pages are "skeletal system", "Muscular system", "Respiratory system" etc. Now most of the traffic that comes to the page "Body Systems" is coming from the homepage of my website. The page "Body Systems" itself is ranking very low in search engine results (about 180 +). So if the traffic comes from home page (human anatomy) to "body Systems", it is very unlikely that they will go to the page skeletal system, or muscular system because the traffic was actually searching for human anatomy and not for skeletal system. That is why 2nd or 3rd level pages of my website are not getting any traffic. After finding that, I concluded that before adding more pages to my website, I have to make the page "Body systems" as well as its children pages like "skeletal system" "Muscular system" etc to appear high in search engine results so that these pages may get reasonable targeted traffic that can click the ads for me. Adding more pages isn't going to increase the visitors or revenue of the website. The CTR of my website is not that bad. The problem is the CPC. You talk of getting more bidding on adsense to earn more, but unfortunately I don't understand how to do this. So if you can help me on this, I will really be thankful to you. Now let me ask you that how much is too much? Currently I am following the strategy you advised me to follow however, I am doing it on a larger scale. After seeing your post on the future of article websites, I have stopped publishing articles on them. Fortunately, even before that update of google's algorithm, I had created about 10 different blogs and 10 different websites (all of which were subdomains such as anatomy.blogspot, human-anatomy.wordpress etc.) to provide links to my website (mananatomy.com) from highly related content. All of these blogs are now indexed by google and I am adding posts to them regularly, without just stuffing the links to my website. So first of all tell me that how is this gonna work for my main website and secondly can this lead my website to spam? Please publish the URL of your website so that I can learn from it.

One of the ways to check the performance of your site versus other websites related to yours in terms of niche, is the "benchmarking" in google analytics. When I check my website in this tool, I find that my website is performing good. It is not far behind other websites. So this should mean that the data from chrome won't hurt the rank of my website. So most of the weightage for my site will depend on links that are coming from other websites. One thing I have understood in this short link building experience of mine is that links from pages of no value aren't going to help. You have to obtain links for pages that are linking to you to build weightage for them. In my case, I have a lot of writing on my website but hardly and links to the content. In other words, I can say that I have created a lot of material but I haven't made the world know about my material. So I think that it is now time to make the world know that I have created some good stuff and that they should visit it.

I might not agree with you completely. There has to be someone to arrange the millions of website on the internet. If it is not done by companies like google, who is gonna do it. Possibly if there had not been google, someone would have arranged it in a worse manner. (or may be even better). If millions of people are using google again and again, there must be something good in it. I can now imagine why there are lots of rumors about SEO and Ranking in Google. A part of it may be sponsored by Google itself, however, if google brings you fortune, you have to follow its orders, whatever they are. The worst part is that you can't question them because they are independent.

I must tell you that I have spent a lot of time making my website stand out of the remaining but if I am not getting what I intend to get, I have no motive to work on my website. I still hardly manage to get time to work on my website. I want to get some pocket money from my website and if I am not getting it, or I am not seeing any potential of achieving my goals, why should I waste my time on it. That is why, after creating about 180 pages, I have now decided that it is now time to check whether my website can get me my goals or not. If it can get me my goals, I will continue doing work on it but if it cannot get me what I want to get from it, I am not going to waste my time on it.I hope you understand my condition. I am currently making about 12$ per week and my target is to reach more than 25$ per week for the current state of my website. I am currently having about 500 visits per day on average and thus to achieve this first minor goal, I have to get about 1200-1500 visits per day. I want to see that when I get this much visitors regularly for about a month, can my website make me about 25$ per week or not. If it can make it, I will continue on it but if it cannot, I cannot waste my time. I would love to hear your opinion on this.
-
Why did you say this? I couldn't understand the logic behind it. Is it just to ensure that my time is not wasted and that I spend my time doing some more valuable stuff. I had a theory that obtaining links (within limits) is never going to hurt you if it doesn't help you. So please guide me on this concept of yours that i should not obtain backlinks for upto april.
-
Yes I received an email from ezinearticles yesterday in which these changes were mentioned. However I could not guess why they have made these changes and now you gave me the answer. So it is good to not waste my time on ezinearticles until they prove their liability once again and rise to the glory where they were before.Let me make my question more general. What is the maximum number of articles that I should publish on any article directory to get links to my website. Does publishing indefinite number of articles help me. I mean I have a lot of time to work on the internet and adding content just to my own website isn't going to work because the content needs some exposure to generate some revenue for me. So if I spend most of my time writing articles and publishing them to various article directories (and ultimately get a link to every page of my website from every article directory I have targeted), will my website be benefitted by this or this would be just a waste of time?.If it is just a waste of time, where should I spend my time so that my website can see better results and I can earn more money from it.
-
Thankyou once again for the valuable information.I asked this question to make a better strategy for article marketing. I have published some articles (about 20) based on the strategy you told me and I am seeing good results. My website has now reached an average of 600+ visits a day and is improving day by day. All the links I obtained were from article directories that give dofollow links so I guessed that to improve my website further, I should get more links from more dofollow article directories. But after reading your post, I am figuring out that I should also spend about 20% of my time in getting links from high traffic areas (without concerning the dofollow or nofollow feature of the links). It would be very nice if you can provide me a few links of the websites where I can obtain links that would be visible to a high traffic. I also want to share another point with you about the dofollow or nofollow links. You said that the all this stuff is worth nothing and just a fraud to confuse people, but why would Google do it. Are they trying to protect the natural ranking from being jeopardized by extra effort from some webmasters. This doens't look justified. If someone puts extra effort into his work, he should get extra results. I have obtained dofollow links and they have worked for me. Is it just the matter of not experimenting with nofollow links? I mean to say that suppose I convert all my dofollow links (that I have obtained through publishing articles) to nofollow, will my website be getting the same position in search results.
-
@starscream you have always been very helpful to me. I am really glad to get this useful info from you. I was really troubled by this complex thing and I couldn't figure it out. Now that you have made things clear to me, I hope now that my article marketing strategy would improve further. I have built some links through articles on various sites on the internet and they have really proved fruitful. I am seeing some increase in visitors per day to my website. However, I want to share something with you. Two day ago, when all the things were normal and I did not do even a single change to my website, it dropped by one position (on average) and caused me about 300 less page views per day than before. I tried to figure out two things, (one of which I eventually did), 1) Why did the drop in rating occurred 2) Why did one position dropped caused me 300 less visits (my website is currently getting about 500 visits per day. So before this drop it were 800 and now they are 500, so it is a significant drop for me). I could not find why did the drop in rating occured by I can only guess that google might have made some slight changes in their way of rating websites. I can't say it for sure, but because I haven't changed anything in my website, I can't find what could have caused it.The second one, the visitors dropping by 300 per day, I eventually found the reason. For some users, dropping by one rating meant that my webpage went from first page of search to second page and that is why so much drop occurred. Please comment on this so that I can assess my approach of doing things.

A moment ago I read an article on a website about the best strategy to obtain back links to your website. It was written there that we should not concentrate just on obtaining dofollow links that would improve the search rank of our website. We should also spend some time in obtaining nofollow backlinks because it has two benefits. The first one, which is very obvious and is common to the dofollow links as well is that links bring you targeted traffic from other websites and visitors don't care whether the link is dofollow of nofollow. The second benefit, which I found to be rather interesting was that If we obtain just dofollow links to our website, the strategy won't look natural to google and the big G won't give us the reputation we deserve. So it is advisable to obtain a good number of nofollow links as well so that the link building looks natural to the big G and our website is given the credit which it deserves. After reading the article, I was really convinced that I should obtain some nofollow links as well but before I spend my time on this, I want to know your opinion on this. Do you think this is correct. I haven't heard of anything like this before. I would also like to share here that I tried to find some official google document on this but I couldn't. So Please share your thoughts on this with me.Thanks in advance.

I was just thinking that will it be good or bad for me if I publish one article on ezinearticles.com for each page of my website. I think I should elaborate my question a little bit. I have a website with nearly 175 pages. Now what I am planning to do is to write 175 articles (obviously each one of them would be on the topic similar to one of the 175 pages of my website) and put a link to one page of my website on this article and publish it on ezinearticles.com. Is this good in terms of SEO or google have some policy according to which such thing is penalized.I would love to hear expert opinions along with professional references. Thanks in advance.
-
Well that is really nice knowledge. I have no idea of how things happen on the internet. I thought that it completely depends upon the internet speed of the user. If the internet speed of a user is greater, the download speed would be high. Commonly it happens the same way but sometimes with same internet speed, the download speed of one file is greater than the download speed of other. This can be explained by the theory proposed by the cat

Comparing GIMP and Photoshop
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to chansard's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
In few simple words, GIMP is a free image editor that can be used instead of Photoshop if you don't need the professional tools that are exclusive to photoshop. On the other hand, adobe photoshop is the most brilliant image editor available in the market. It has got everything in it. The only problem with this brilliant tool is its price which cannot be afforded by every one. That is why people tend to go for cheaper or open source tools. If the price of adobe photoshop drops, miraculously is becomes free, you will see it installed on every personal computer where at least some image editing is carried out. -
There might be a lot of plugins for firefox but after all the genre is different. If I put an LCD screen on my orange, it would give reflections similar to all other LCD screens but is never going to give display like them. So no matter how much plugins are developed, firefox would remain an internet browser and is never going to be converted into an image editor.
-
did you mean mozilla firefox? I didn't get it. Mozilla firefox is not an image editor. Its an internet browser. How can you compare firefox with GIMP. Its like comparing computers with oranges.
