  1. I agree with Quatrux! This happens to me all the time. I bugs me because I don't recall ever clicking or pressing something that causes the files to copy into the same directory as my other files.
  2. I am not sure if people still do this but people used to make a ton of money from facebook fan pages and CPALead. If you ever remember the fan pages named "7 things you never knew about ______" or "100 things you should do when ______", you would click on the link. Before you could view the content on the fan page, you were to first "like" the facebook page, send an invite to all of your friends, and complete a survey. Each survey that someone completed would rack them some money. This was a huge pet peeve for me. I hated how almost every single fanpage of facebook had these CPALead pop-ups.
  3. This is why I really despise survey sites. These get-paid-to sites are very repetitive and tedious. Half of the time, the offers do not even approve which makes it ridiculous. The only money I make from survey sites are purely from referrals. I have a video on YouTube that generates monthly referrals which get me around a $5-10 amazon gift card every month.
  4. That happens to me too. I am thinking that it is a bug with Google Instant where the search results disappear. I also use Google Chrome with Google Instant so it could be a browser problem. I'm not sure because I haven't really tested the new Google Instant with any other browsers yet. This bug is pretty annoying. I have to go back to my mouse and click on the search button again to get the results.
  5. I think Canada does trick-or-treating as well. I guess each country doesn't exactly celebrate Halloween the way the United States celebrates the holiday but I believe that most countries celebrate still do something for Halloween even if it is cleaning up a cemetery. I know that Mexico does something called "Day of the Dead" on November 2.
  6. Yesss, I do. The worst application in this category is the app that spams everyones wall with, "________ (insert name here) just answered a question about you." I get those all of the time and it is very annoying.
  7. Since this is a discussion about YouTube, I guess I'll start talking about it and then maybe people might want to argue or add to what I have to say.Do you guys think its ridiculous how YouTube keeps changing their interface often. The first time they changed the way the channels looked, a lot of people became angry. I was pretty disappointed at the time as well. Now, it doesn't matter because I have gotten pretty used to the layout and it helps organize videos. Anyway, as time progressed, they changed the location of the video description (from the right side of the video to the bottom side of the video). If you look at some old videos, you might see something like "Take a look at the description for links. ----->" or something. Also, YouTube replaced the 5-star system with the thumbs up/thumbs down rating system. I don't know about you guys but I really liked the 5-star rating system. A few days ago, YouTube changed the views counter. The number of views on the video is displayed with a bolded number. There isn't anything to clarify that it is the number of views for the video and it looks a bit out of place.
  8. That is absolutely amazing! It would be pretty awesome when yellowBird will start to dominate the video industry. I would love to watch videos like this. I have one more question. What do you mean by half circles?
  9. This is VERY arguable but I believe that the fact that Oedipus' parents went to see the oracle brought them to their horrible fate. If they had never visited the oracle, then the prophecy might have not come true since it was the prophet who told Oedipus' parents that his son would kill his father and marry his mother. The parents would never have given their son to the Shepard. It really depends on the perspective. Some people believe that it was fate that brought them to visit the oracle which leads them to their fall. Maybe some people believe that the characters actions change their fate.
  10. Another one of the reasons why FarmVille has so many members is because of the fact that the games prompt you to send invitations to everyone on your friend's list. They also spam people's walls if you allow the application to do so. On facebook, if you ever see lots of application requests requesting you to participate in games, this is the main technique companies like Zynga use to promote their games on facebook.
  11. Wait, I am a bit confused on the concept of Yellow Bird. Does it allow you to record video that allows the user to view 360 degrees while the video is playing? In Google Maps, you can see the streetview but those are only images. Are we able to have that experience while the video is streaming? This seems pretty interesting and I think it could be the future of video if it is what I am thinking of. If Yellow Bird could somehow be integrated with polarized 3-D technology, that would be amazing. It would be like you are actually there.
  12. I heard of programs like this for your thumb drives. It encrypts your passwords with Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) or MD5, AES-128/256, etc. but I am not sure how safe these can be. If someone were to get their hands on the flash drive, would they be able to brute force crack the passwords? I would feel more safe if the program forced a format after a number of failed attempts (say... 20).
  13. Most of the games found on facebook usually have the same concept like Cafe World, Restuarant City, FishVille, YoVille, Hotel City, Happy Pets, Happy Aquarium, etc. These games are going to be dominating the facebook game world for a while before they start to decline. A lot of people seemed to be pretty hooked to these games even though the concept is so simple. Some people don't even go on Facebook for the social network but for the games. These games are just something that "everyone" does. I think that it is the competition between the people in your buddy list that feeds these games. These games are promoted by the players. The games prompt them to send invites to all of their friends in return of an incentive in the game. This is why you get all of these game invitations on facebook.
  14. Woah, I wonder how much bandwidth YouTube uses up monthly. Wikipedia claims that YouTube used as much bandwidth in 2007 than the entire internet in 2000. I find that ridiculous. I don't see why Google would bother continue paying for YouTube. YouTube also has to pay their partners too which is also a lot out of their pocket. YouTubers like Fred or nigahiga make 6 figures from posting on YouTube.
  15. I tried the one with the notepad. I typed in "Bush hid the facts", saved it, opened it again and the file displayed squares. I thought my netbook froze when I tried the Microsoft Word trick. It generated 235 pages of junk I love easter eggs.
  16. -Smiles- I could have used something like this around 2 hours ago when I was transferring files across my computers. I transferred around 32 GB worth of files and the entire process took around an hour and a half to complete ( I was sort of distracted ). I am going to download this right now. I am probably going to need it again in a few days if I want to transfer more files between computers. I hate looking at the Windows Window saying copying... (jumping from like 235 hours to like 140 minutes to 234 minutes, etc.) just waiting for the process to finish.
  17. Shouldn't Youtube be on this list as well since it is one of the most visited website on the internet? or is considered part of Google?
  18. That is a really good idea! Except for I think most people could probably figure out what 1234..8 would be . I think I might start storing my passwords on my email address since I often find myself scrambling to figure out what a password was to one of my old accounts. It frustrates me sometimes when I cannot log in to accounts I have not used in six or more months.
  19. I want to add that before you join a site, you should read reviews about the site because nine times out of ten, the get-paid-to site makes themselves seem a lot better than they actually are. Searching the the get-paid-to site appending the terms, "scam" or "reviews" will help you decide if a get-paid-to is good or bad. Also, you should always read the Terms of Service of the site you are about to sign up on to see how it works. You shouldn't join sites that aren't too popular or has bad reviews because you never know which websites will scam you. Try to search for payment proofs on a search engine if you are skeptical of the legitness of a program. An important thing to note is the date of when the review or payment proof was posted. Sometimes a service will be legit for a while and suddenly become a scam so look for recent proofs/reviews.Pyramid Schemes and Ponzi's can very rarely generate money for you but they usually get your microprocessor account terminated. Most HYIP sites are ponzi scams that recycle money from new users promising you up to a 200% return on your investment (usually $10 or higher) in as low as a week. These kinds of sites are illegal and very unstable which will usually result in the website disappearing with your money. They will seem legit at first to get a lot of people joining but one day, they will just leave.
  20. I used points2shop for a while before they banned me from the site. I actually used the sister site cashle and cashed out around 40 dollars USD before they banned my account for no apparent reason. I never received any PM or email address for why I was banned from the site. I guess you can say that I was semi-banned since I was able to log in but was not able to do anything (all my actions were limited). I would recommend this site to people because I haven't seen many people in the same situation that I was in.
  21. Well, it depends. I quit right after a few days of playing the game. I (and probably a lot of other people agree with me) really found the game repetitive and boring. I do agree with you with the fact that it is addicting to a lot of people. I believe that most of the reasons why people like to play these games is because they just like the pleasure of seeing their money and exp go up as they progress through the game. Most people do not realize themselves that they like the fact that they get rewarded (with virtual currency/experience) for activities they perform on the game. People also tend to treat virtual pixels as real, tangible items. This may sound weird but just think about it. If you ever played a game say like, "Maplestory", and you get a Zakum Helmet, you get excited and start to brag about all of your friends. This is why MMORPGs like World of Warcraft are so popular and get gamers hooked on (for ridiculous amounts of time). There is an article on Cracked that mentions how players keep playing to avoid losing the things they work for. For example, if you do not water your plants on FarmVille, they will die and you will eventually end up having to plant new ones.
  22. I know right?!?! It is ridiculous how many game requests I am receiving on Facebook from my friends. My sister plays a game called PetVille and she plays for around 5 hours a day which I find absolutely ridiculous. In my opinion, these games are okay if you only spend around 5-10 minutes a day on them but any more time wasted on these games are wasted. The games are very repetitive and all you do in the game is plant, crop, buy seeds, sell crops, etc. and you repeat that throughout the entire game (this is an example from FarmVille, a lot of other games have the same concept)! What I find even more ridiculous is how people purchase items from these kinds of games with real money through micro purchases. It is good for the company (they are making tons of money), but I personally think that it is a waste of money. Now, Zynga increased the level cap to 999. For anyone who actually reaches this level legit, I do not even know what I would say to this person. I would probably advise them to find a hobby in real life like music. This game requires a ton of waiting and waiting is really bad for your life/health. Every time you wait for a plant to grow, you are wasting valuable time that you will never get back. Like I said earlier, if I ever were to play this game, I would play every few days by buying plants/fish/crops/food/etc. (from whatever game you are playing) that would take 72+ hours to prepare so you would only have to check on the game every few days. I know some people who freak out in the middle of nowhere to go on the computer to check the status of the game that they are playing. I would have to be a bit more lenient with World of Warcraft since it is an MMORPG and you actually do different things while you are in the game but the average time people spend on these games are at least two times more. I agree that it is extremely easy to get attached to games like this and if you do not put self limits or have someone force you off your computer/console then you will probably be lost in the world of pixels. I was once addicted to a game called Maplestory for 4 years and probably put at least 1500 hours into the game. There was a day where I played for 10 hours straight (excluding meals and bathroom breaks, I actually ate meals at my computer table). I am thankful that my parents started putting limits on my usage on the computer. Spending too much time on games can affect your social skills. I noticed that people who play a lot of games have a lot of problems communicating with other people than those who spend time going out with friends. It is also a lot more healthier and fun to spend time with friends and family than with pixels. It is true that you chat on computer games but it is nothing like talking verbally with your mouth. Games are the future of kids and will take over their minds very soon (in fact, you can already notice the large fraction of people already sucked in). Soon, there will be games in 3D (talk about getting "into" the game). As years pass by, teen's grammar and writing skills are dropping significantly as the people they chat with have bad spelling and grammar. They see these words misspelled all of the time and then they tend to start misspelling the words.
  23. It is a great relaxer. Playing Tetris is not strenuous and does not take too much thinking. The only thing that I do not like about Tetris is that most versions of Tetris does not have a zen mode where the speed of the tetraminos do not increase.
  24. Woooooah! I did not know that Halloween was not celebrated globally. So how do other countries do it? If I were to celebrate Halloween at another country by going door to door with a Halloween basket, would people not open their doors to me?
  25. I hate smokers as well. The terrible smell and the smoke makes the environment feel negative. I realize that 2nd hand smoking is just as bad as smoking a cigar yourself so whenever I go to a destination where there are smokers, I usually try to hold my breath as long as I can until I can leave the place. I do not want to find out what is going to happen to me in the the long run if I inhale the smoke from smokers frequently. Lots of people die every year from cancer coming from 2nd hand smoking. The fact that children can inhale the smoke as well is a ridiculous as it can cause problems for their growth and health by causing cancer or whatnot. Worst scenario, 2nd hand smoking may kill a child.
